  • NHibernate Transactions Best Practices

    - by Ramiro
I have been reading about Nhibernate for a while and have been trying to use it for a site I'm implementing. I read the article by Billy McCafferty on NHibernate best practices but I did not see any indication on where is the best place to handle transactions. I thought of putting that code in the Data Access Object (DAO) but then I'm not sure how to handle cases in which more than one DAO is used. What are the best places to put transaction code in your NHibernate Application?

  • Superfish: How to keep sub menu open after it has been clicked

    - by Roland
    I'm having the following scenario. I have a menu and if one hovers over the menu a sub menu appears and if mouse moves out the sub menu disappears, now I want the following if I click on the on a item in the sub menu, I want the sub-menu to remain open, when the new page has been loaded. I'm using superfish Jquery plugin for this. Is this possible and if how. my code in html <div id="nav"> <div id="nav2"> <ul class="sf-menu sf-navbar "> <li> <a title="HOME" class="sf-with-ul " href="/index.php?r=site/index&amp;sid=1">HOME</a> </li> </ul> <ul class="sf-menu sf-navbar"> <li> <a href="?sid=2" id="gallery" class="sf-with-ul selected_main">GALLERY</a> <ul class="subs" id="sub1"><li class="arrow"><img src="images/arrow.gif" /></li><li><a title="Kitchens" href="/index.php?r=images/sddsd&amp;id=1">Kitchens</a></li><li><a title="Vanities" href="/index.php?r=images/sddsd&amp;id=2">Vanities</a></li></ul> </li> </ul> <ul class="sf-menu sf-navbar "> <li> <a href="?sid=3" class="sf-with-ul " >ACCESSORIES</a> <ul class="subs" id=""><li class="arrow"><img src="images/arrow.gif" /></li><li><a title="Door Handles" href="/index.php?r=images/sddsd&amp;id=2">Door Handles</a></li><li><a title="Spanners" href="/index.php?r=images/sddsd&amp;id=1">Spanners</a></li></ul> </li> </ul> <ul class="sf-menu sf-navbar "> <li> <a title="CONTACT US" class="sf-with-ul " href="/index.php?r=site/contact&amp;sid=4">CONTACT US</a> </li> </ul> </div> </div> and then the superfish code $(function(){ $("ul.sf-menu").superfish({ delay: 0, speed: 'fast', autoArrows: false, dropShadows: false }); }); I've also noticed that the following css code is used to display the item left: 0; top: 2.5em; z-index: 99;

  • Tearing my hair out - ASP.Net AJAX AutoComplete not working

    - by Dave
Hope someone can help with this. I've been up and down the web and through this site looking for an answer, but still can't get the Autocomplete AJAX control to work. I've gone from trying to include it in an existing site to stripping it right back to a very basic form and it's still not functioning. I'm having a little more luck using Page Methods rather than a local webservice, so here is my code <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="droptest.aspx.cs" Inherits="droptest" %> <%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="cc1" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" EnablePageMethods="true" runat="server"> </asp:ScriptManager> <cc1:AutoCompleteExtender ID="AutoCompleteExtender1" runat="server" MinimumPrefixLength="1" ServiceMethod="getResults" TargetControlID="TextBox1"> </cc1:AutoCompleteExtender> </form> </body> </html> using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.Script.Services; using System.Web.Services; public partial class droptest : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } [WebMethod] public string[] getResults(string prefixText, int count) { string[] test = new string[5] { "One", "Two", "Three", "Four", "Five" }; return test; } } Tried to keep things as simple as possible, but all I get is either the autocomplete dropdown with the source of the page (starting with the <! doctype...) letter by letter, or in IE7 it just says "UNDEFINED" all the way down the list. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 at the moment, this is running on Localhost. I think I've exhausted all the "Try this..." options I can find, everything from adding in [ScriptMethod] to changing things in Web.Config. Is there anything obviously wrong with this code? Only other thing that may be having an effect is in Global.asax I do a Context.RewritePath to rewrite URLs - does this have any effect on AJAX? Thanks for any help you can give.

  • ASP.NET MVC2: Can you get ModelMetadata.ContainerType from within a collection?

    - by CodeSponge
I'm trying to call DisplayFor and DisplayForModel to iterate an IEnumerable< with various element types from within a view. I have Templates defined for each element/Model type. What I would like to do is check the ViewData.ModelMetadata.ContainerType from within the Template so that Template can determine if it was called as part of a collection. A simple example: Index1.aspx: To render a collection of Foos. <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<IEnumerable<Foo>>" %> <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderID="MainPlaceHolder" runat="server"> <ul><%:Html.DisplayForModel()%></ul> </asp:Content> Index2.aspx: To render a Foo. <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<Foo>" %> <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderID="MainPlaceHolder" runat="server"> <%:Html.DisplayForModel()%> </asp:Content> Shared\DisplayTemplates\Foo.ascx: A context aware Template for Foo. <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<Foo>" %> <% var tag = typeof(IEnumerable).IsAssignableFrom(ViewData.ModelMetaData.ContainerType) ? "li" : "div"; %> <<%:tag%>><%:Model.Name%></<%:tag%>> The problem with this example is that ViewData.ModelMetaData.ContainerType is null in the Template when resolved though Index1.aspx. From what I've read on Brad Wilson post and others it has to do with the use of IEnumerable and its being an interface. Is there a way to insure that the ContainerType is set? Perhaps by creating a ModelMetadataProviders? I looked into that breifly but it appears the ContainerType value is determined before and then passed to the Provider. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • How can I find images to represent user text?

    - by Crashalot
On our web site, users enter free form text like "Ribeye steak at Safeway for $8.99. Great deal in Palo Alto." Does anyone know of APIs that can take free form text and return an image that best represents the text? Right now, we're feeding the whole text to Google Image Search, but sometimes the extraneous words (e.g., at, for, $8.99) skew the query and induce weird results.

  • CodeIgniter extend user's session expiration time

    - by spacemonkey
Hi, Is it possible to extend user's session expiration time in CI. What I want to do is, by default every user's session cookie lasts for example 1 day, but every time user visits the site his session expiration time is extended by one more day. I don't know if it is a good idea to do this, maybe I should just set cookies life time for like a week and that's it? Thanks!

  • Remove accents from a JSON response.

    - by Pentium10
I get back a JSON response from a social networks site. There are certain accented characters that I would like to be removed. An example is : L\u00e1szl\u00f3 M\u00e1rton, that reads "László Márton" and I would like to be transformed into Laszlo Marton. I would like to keep the JSON format intact, as I will send it towards. How can I do this?

This Wordpress site works fine in Firefox and Safari. However viewing in Explorer 7 (don't care about 6) breaks the header/navigation area. • To HTML 5 or not HTML 5 ?

    - by ZX12R
I am a designer whose main marketing strategy is multi browser compatibility. I assure my clients that the site will work even in IE6 (!). Of late i have been pondering over the question of moving to HTML 5. The reason behind my apprehension is that IE6 is still a major player in terms of market share and i don't want to lose it. Is there any way of moving to HTML 5 and still promise multi browser compatibility? Thank you.
