  • Associate activity with database ID

    I have a main ListView that is based on an adapter from my database. Each database id is "assigned" to an Activity via the ListView. And in my AndroidManifest, each activity has an intent filter with a custom action. Now with this, I have had to create this class: public final class ActivityLauncher { private ActivityLauncher() { } public static void launch(Context c, int id) { switch(id) { case 1: Intent intent = new Intent(); intent.setAction(SomeActivity.ACTION_SOMEACTIVITY); c.startActivity(intent); break; case 2: ... break; ... } } private static void st(Context context, String action) { Intent intent = new Intent(); intent.setAction(action); context.startActivity(intent); } } So I have to manually create a new case for the switch statement. This would get troublesome if I have to rearrange or delete an id. Is there any way to get around this?

  • PC hangs and reboots from time to time

    Hello, I have a very strange problem: Since I have my new PC, I have always had problems with it. From time to time the computer freezes for some seconds and suddendly reboots by itself. I've had this problem since Ubuntu 9.10. The same with 10.04 and 10.10. That's why I don't think it's a software failure because the problem persist too long. It doesn't have anything to do with what I'm doing at this time. Sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I only use Firefox, sometimes I'm running 2 or 3 VMs, sometimes I watch DVD. So it's not isolatable. I could freeze once a day or once a week. I put the PC to the vendor twice(!). The first time they changed my power supply but the problem persisted. The second time they told me that they made some heavy performance tests 50 hours long but they didn't find anything. (How can that be that I have daily freezes with normal usage). The vendor didn't check the hard discs because they used their own disc with Windows. (So they never checked the Linux installation). Yesterday I made some intensive hard disc scans with "SMART" but no errors were found. I ran memtest for 3 times but no errors found. I already had this problem in my old flat, so I doubt that I has something to do with current fluctuation. I already tried another electrical socket and changed to connector strip but the problem persists. At the moment I removed 2 of the RAMs (2x 2GB). In all I have 6GB, 2x2GB and 2x1GB. Could this difference maybe be a problem? Here is a list of my components. I hope that anybody find something I didn't think about yet.   • Tomcat app doesn't work with Fingerprint Reader in Windows 7

    I've got a tomcat webapp that uses a fingerprint reader. It works fine under Windows XP and Windows 7 if you double click on tomcat.exe. It doesn't work on Windows 7 if you run tomcat as a service. I imagine that when run as a service the process doesn't have the required permissions to talk to the device. I've tried running it as an administrator and verified that it's doing so with Process Explorer. What else should I check?

  • Scroll modifier for mouse/trackball in windows

    I have a trackball (Logitech Trackman Marble in this case, though this could apply to any mouse or pointing device) where I would like to use one of the buttons as a middle-click when I click it, but to trigger scrolling action when I hold it down and move the ball around. I could do this quite easily in Linux by setting scroll-modifier in the X config, but the driver that comes with the trackball (Logitech) only allows one or the other. Is there any way to set this up in Windows 8?

Preferably without switching to a static xorg.conf configuration, I'm using xorg-server 1.12.4 (archlinux). I need to do that since, as it seems Blender identifies the Pen and Eraser of a graphics tablet using the hardcoded names "stylus" and "eraser" but by default the names of my tablet are prefixed with the type e.g. "Wacom Bamboo 16FG 4x5 Pen stylus".

  • Python CGI on Amazon AWS EC2 micro-instance -- a how-to!

    How can you make an EC2 micro instance serve CGI scripts from lighthttpd? For instance Python CGI? Well, it took half a day, but I have gotten Python cgi running on a free Amazon AWS EC2 micro-instance, using the lighttpd server. I think it will help my fellow noobs to put all the steps in one place. Armed with the simple steps below, it will take you only 15 minutes to set things up! My question for the more experienced users reading this is: Are there any security flaws in what I've done? (See file and directory permissions.) Step 1: Start your EC2 instance and ssh into it. [Obviously, you'll need to sign up for Amazon EC2 and save your key pairs to a *.pem file. I won't go over this, as Amazon tells you how to do it.] Sign into your AWS account and start your EC2 instance. The web has tutorials on doing this. Notice that default instance-size that Amazon presents to you is "small." This is not "micro" and so it will cost you money. Be sure to manually choose "micro." (Micro instances are free only for the first year...) Find the public DNS code for your running instance. To do this, click on the instance in the top pane of the dashboard and you'll eventually see the "Public DNS" field populated in the bottom pane. (You may need to fiddle a bit.) The Public DNS looks something like: ec2-174-129-110-23.compute-1.amazonaws.com Start your Unix console program. (On Max OS X, it's called Terminal, and lives in the Applications - Utilities folder.) cd to the directory on your desktop system that has your *.pem file containing your AWS keypairs. ssh to your EC2 instance using a command like: ssh -i <<your *.pem filename>> ec2-user@<< Public DNS address >> So, for me, this was: ssh -i amzn_ec2_keypair.pem [email protected] Your EC2 instance should let you in. Step 2: Download lighttpd to your EC2 instance. To install lighttpd, you will need root access on your EC2 instance. The problem is: Amazon will not let you sign in as root. (Not straightforwardly, at least.) But there is a workaround. Type this command: sudo /bin/bash The system prompt-character will change from $ to #. We won't exit from "sudo" until the very last step in this whole process. Install the lighttpd application (version 1.4.28-1.3.amzn1 for me): yum install lighttpd Install the FastCGI libraries for lighttpd (not needed, but why not?): yum install lighttpd-fastcgi Test that your server is working: /etc/init.d/lighttpd start Step 3: Let the outside world see your server. If you now tried to hit your server from the browser on your desktop, it would fail. The reason: By default, Amazon AWS does not open any ports to your EC2 instance. So, you have to open the ports manually. Go to your EC2 dashboard in your desktop's browser. Click on "Security Groups" in the left pane. One or more security groups will appear in the upper right pane. Choose the one that was assigned to your EC2 instance when you launched your instance. A table called "Allowed Connections" will appear in the lower right pane. A pop-up menu will let you choose "HTTP" as the connection method. The other values in that line of the table should be: tcp, 80, 80, 0.0.0.0/0 Now hit your EC2 instance's server from the desktop in your browser. Use the Public DNS address that you used earlier to SSH in. You should see the lighttpd generic web page. If you don't, I can't help you because I am such a noob. :-( Step 4: Configure lighttpd to serve CGI. Back in the console program, cd to the configuration directory for lighttpd: cd /etc/lighttpd To enable CGI, you want to uncomment one line in the < modules.conf file. (I could have enabled Fast CGI, but baby steps are best!) You can do this with the "ed" editor as follows: ed modules.conf /include "conf.d\/cgi.conf"/ s/#// w q Create the directory where CGI programs will live. (The /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf file determines where this will be.) We'll create our directory in the default location, so we don't have to do any editing of configuration files: cd /var/www/lighttpd mkdir cgi-bin chmod 755 cgi-bin Almost there! Of course you need to put a test CGI program into the cgi-bin directory. Here is one: cd cgi-bin ed a #!/usr/bin/python print "Content-type: text/html\n\n" print "<html><body>Hello, pyworld.</body></html>" . w hellopyworld.py q chmod 655 hellopyworld.py Restart your lighttpd server: /etc/init.d/lighttpd restart Test your CGI program. In your desktop's browser, hit this URL, substituting your EC2 instance's public DNS address: http://<<Public DNS>>/cgi-bin/hellopyworld.py For me, this was: http://ec2-174-129-110-23.compute-1.amazonaws.com/cgi-bin/hellopyworld.py Step 5: That's it! Clean up, and give thanks!     I changed my provision profile 'application name' and 'bundle id' and now my xamarin no longer builds successfully and comes back with this message: Project bundle ID '' does not match specified provisioning profile '15729097-407D-4744-9378-53905C00E62B' Build: 1 error, 0 warnings Where is that profile guid stored? I have looked in the info.plist file and there is no mentioning of it. I hav tried cleaning the build and the solution multiple times and restarting of machine. I think if I know where that id is stored, it can give me insights on how to fix it. Your help is appreciated.

    Hi All, We recently upgraded from 2005 to VS 2008 (Windows XP). We use SlimDx in one of our projects.     Hi, I have been trying to use the default code in the iPhone APNS documentation to generate a device token using registerForRemoteNotificationTypes() but without succes. Neither the didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken or the didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError is called. I had placed a UIAlert in both these methods- both did not appear. My iPhone is acceesing APNS using Wi/Fi using DHCP.(& am able to browse ) Is there any other setting that needs to to be done to genrate a device token? can someone post a working code which can be used to generate device token?   • TCP packets larger than 4 KB don't get a reply from Linux

    I'm running Linux 3.2.51 in a virtual machine (192.168.33.15). I'm sending Ethernet frames to it. I'm writing custom software trying to emulate a TCP peer, the other peer is Linux running in the virtual machine guest. I've noticed that TCP packets larger than about 4 KB are ignored (i.e. dropped without an ACK) by the Linux guest. If I decrease the packet size by 50 bytes, I get an ACK. I'm not sending new payload data until the Linux guest fully ACKs the previous one. I've increased ifconfig eth0 mtu 51000, and ping -c 1 -s 50000 goes through (from guest to my emulator) and the Linux guest gets a reply of the same size. I've also increased sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_rmem='70000 87380 87380 and tried with sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_mtu_probing=1 (and also =0). There is no IPv3 packet fragmentation, all packets have the DF flag set. It works the other way round: the Linux guest can send TCP packets of 6900 bytes of payload and my emulator understands them. This is very strange to me, because only TCP packets seem to be affected (large ICMP packets go through). Any idea what can be imposing this limit? Any idea how to do debug it in the Linux kernel? See the tcpdump -n -vv output below. tcpdump was run on the Linux guest.   • store multiple id's from first aspx page to next aspx page

    i have my first aspx page that has data thatthe user fills in. it is in format of textbox's and at the end of it all the user clicks submit and all data goes in the database. In the database each record gets an ID field. Now when the users clicks submit and goes to the next page, i want the ID's (they could be 1 to 1000+) from the DB that he just inserted and have them available on the second page. how can i take all the id's from page 1 to page 2? can i do it in session? or something else. Please put some sample code so i can understand better.

  • flex and jsf access the same instance of bean

    i integrate a flex app in a jsf-icefaces app (in a jspx site with the ice:outputmedia-tag) and want to access the same instance of a bean from flex by remote, that jsf inject. i already connect with blazeds to a java-bean. this bean - like all other beans - get other beans by injection of jsf, but when i access the bean by remote from flex it doesnt hold the injected beans (like localizer and accesmanager, both session scoped) and i can't connect to the jsf session (FacesContext.getCurrentInstance() is null). this is because flex create a new instance of the bean and it’s not the same current instance, that jsf inject, i think. i can connect from flex to the database by create a new entity manager in the java bean, but that's not what i want, because it's again another entity manager...i want persist and get data over the accessmanager-bean. i know exadel fiji and flamingo, but i couldn't work with fiji, because my jsf app include the icefaces components and then it doesn't work with richfaces which fiji needs. and flamingo work only with jboss seam and spring. is it right? i also read about the spring-flex-integration, but the jsf application did not create with spring and i don't want to integrate spring in such a large jsf app. yesterday i read about the FlexFactory interface. this interface i have to implement in my own Factory and set it in the service-config.xml of blazeds as a factory read this. i still implement my own factory but i only get application scoped beans over the servlet context which i get over FlexContext.getServletContext().getAttribute("Bean"); and not session scoped beans... i hope there is a chance to connect throw flex and jsf... thanks!

  • Alternative Input Device(Midi) doesn't prevent Screen Saver in Winforms application

    I have developed a c# winforms application whereby the user is providing input via a midi connected device. The user will go for long periods without using the keyboard or mouse. When I receive a midi message is there anything I can do to "tell" the system that this counts as user activity (ie key press). I don't want the screen saver or time lockouts to occur, if they are actively using the midi device. I think my request is different than other requests I've seen because they want to disable screen savers for the life of their application whereby I just want midi input I receive to count as user interactivity. Is there something I can call when I receive midi input to signify to the system user activity?

  • jQuery.load() Retrieving partial page content causes duplicate ID in DOM

    Hello all, I currently have a JS function that allows me to load partial content from another page into the current page using jQuery.load() However I noticed when using this that I get a duplicate ID in the DOM (when inspecting with FireBug) This function is used in conjuction with a Flash Building viewe so it does not contain any code to retrieve the URL from the anchor tag. function displayApartment(apartmentID) { $("#apartmentInfo").load(siteURL + apartmentID + ".aspx #apartmentInfo", function () { //re-do links loaded in $("a.gallery").colorbox({ opacity: "0.5" }); }); } The code above works just fine in retrieving the content, however it just bugs me that when inspecting with firebug I get something like this. <div id="apartmentInfo"> <div id="apartmentInfo"> <!-- Remote HTML here..... --> </div> </div> Can anyone please suggest anything on how to remove the duplicate div?     I'm inserting a record using PDO (very similar to mysqli). $addRecord->execute(); To know if the operation worked, I've learned that I can save it to a variable $result that can be used as true false $result = $addRecord->execute(); if ($result){ //add successful } else { //add unsuccessful } What I'd like to do is also get the record id just added. In the table, each record has an auto_incremented field called id. I tried doing this $new_id = $result['id']; but it seems that $result is purely boolean and doesn't actually hold the actual record that was added. Can someone confirm this and how would I then access the record just added? Note that several people may be adding to the same table at the same time, so I think getting just the last one would not be very accurate.

But my in code doesn't recognize TEST. If I don't use a masterpage and I give an id to a tag my in code reconigzes it, but now that I started using masterpages it doesn't. What am I doing wrong? Thx
