• Returning a lua table on SWIG call

  I have a class with a methodcalled GetEnemiesLua. I have bound this class to lua using SWIG, and I can call this method using my lua code. I am trying to get the method to return a lua table of objects. ") end The result is always 't is nil', despite this being incorrect. I have put breakpoints in the code and it is indeed going over the loop, rather than doing lua_pushnil. So how do I make my method return a table when called via lua?

• Efficient way to call .Sum() on multiple properties

  I have a function that uses Linq to get data from the database and then I call that function in another function to sum all the individual properties using .Sum on each individual property. I was wondering if there is an efficient way to sum all the properties at once rather than calling .Sum() on each individual property. • Can a thread call wait() on two locks at once in Java (6)

  I've just been messing around with threads in Java to get my head around them (it seems like the best way to do so) and now understand what's going on with synchronize, wait() and notify(). I'm curious about whether there's a way to wait() on two resources at once. I think the following won't quite do what I'm thinking of: synchronized(token1) { synchronized(token2) { token1.wait(); token2.wait(); //won't run until token1 is returned System.out.println("I got both tokens back"); } } In this (very contrived) case token2 will be held until token1 is returned, then token1 will be held until token2 is returned. The goal is to release both token1 and token2, then resume when both are available (note that moving the token1.wait() outside the inner synchronized loop is not what I'm getting at). A loop checking whether both are available might be more appropriate to achieve this behaviour (would this be getting near the idea of double-check locking?), but would use up extra resources - I'm not after a definitive solution since this is just to satisfy my curiosity.

• Object is not a function on call to dialog() function

  I keep getting "dialogDiv.dialog is not a function". I'm simply trying to invoke the jQueryUI dialog off my reference to the div. So incoming is the divID, for example "myDiv". Then I set it to a variable and wrap it in $("#" + myDiv); so that now I have a reference to it in a nice clear variable.   I am trying to read a link from one page, print the url, go to that page, and read the link on the next page in the same location, print the url, go to that page (and so on...) All I'm doing is reading the url and passing it as an argument to the get_links() method until there are no more links. • Acer aspire 5735z wireless not working after upgrade to 11.10

  I cant get my wifi card to work at all after upgrading to 11.10 Oneiric. I'm not sure where to start to fix this. Ive tried using the additional drivers tool but this shows that no additional drivers are needed. Before my upgrade I had a drivers working for the Rt2860 chipset.   Guys, I have been very good in mathematics and physics in my schools and colleges. Right now I am a programmer. Even in the colleges I have to engrossed my self into computers and programming things all the time. As I used to like it very much. But I have always felt the lack of advanced mathematics and physics in all the work I have done (Programs). Programming never asked me any advanced mathematics and physics knowledge in what I was very good. It always ask u some optimized loops, and different programming technologies which has never been covered in advanced mathematics and physics. Even at the time of selection in big College , such a kind of advanced knowledge is required. Time by time I got out of touch of all that facts and concepts (advanced mathematics and physics). And now after, 5 years in job I found it hard to resolve Differentiations and integrations from Trigonometry. Which sometimes make me feel like I have wasted time in those concepts because they are never used. (At that time I knew that I am going to be a programmer) If one need to be a programmer why do all this advanced knowledge is required. One can go with elementry knowledge a bit more. • Experience with Take home Programming Test for Interviews

  Okay this is not "programming" related per-se, but it is a situation that I believe the SO audience would be more familiar with, than say an ask.yahoo.com audience, so please forgive me. I had a phone screen the other day with a company that I really want to work for. It went pretty well, based on cues from the HR person, such as "Next step we're going to send you a programming test," and "Well, before I get ahead of myself, do you want to continue the interviewing process." and "We'll send out the test later this afternoon. It doesn't sound like you'll have trouble with it, but I want to be honest we do have a high failure rate on it." The questions asked weren't technical, just going down my resume, and talking about the work I've done, and how it relates to the position. Nothing I couldn't talk through. This was last Thursday. It's now Tuesday, and haven't received the test yet. I sent a follow up email yesterday to the lady who interviewed me, but haven't gotten a response. Anyone had a similar experience? Am I reading too much into this? Or was I off the mark by thinking I had moved on to the next step in the interview process. Since this is a company I really want to work for, I'm driving myself insane enumerating all the various what-if scenarios.

  Suppose I am fooled to work in a start-up or a company that has been a very small over a long time, let say 10 years. I work them 3 months and I really enjoy the work -- I learn a lot of new skills such as Haskell, MapReduce, CouchDB and many other little things. Now the firm did not pay any salary: A) I may be unskilled, B) I did not meet some deadline (I don't know because I am not allowed to speak to the boss but I know that I am not getting any payment) or C) I was fooled. Some detail about C I heard that the firm have had similar cases from my friend, "The guy X was there and he said he does not trust the firm at all so he went to other firm". I don't know what the term "trust" mean here, anyway the firm consists of ignorant drop-outs that hires academic people, a bit irony. They hire people from student-organizations and let them work and promise ok -compensation but -- when you start working the co-employer starts all kind of instructions "Do not work so hard, do not work so long, do not work so much" -- it is like he is making sure you do not feel sad when he does not pay any salary (co-employer is an owner in the firm). Anyway, I learnt a ton in the company but it was very inefficient working. I worked only alone, not really working in a "company". Now should by resume contain references to the firm and the guy who did not pay me anything? Or should my resume read that I worked in XYZ -technologies -- but 1 year's NDA -- what can write here? Now I fear that if I put the firm to my resume: they will lie about my input to my next employer. I feel they are very dishonest. On the other hand, I want to make it sure that I have worked over the time. So: Should my CV contain the not-so-good or even awful employers that may be fooling people to work there? I am pretty sure everyone knows the firm and its habbits, circles are small but people are afraid to speak.

  I have a component mapped using Hibernate. If all fields in the component in the database are null, the component itself is set to null by hibernate. This is the expected behavior and also what I need. The problem I have, is that when I add a bag to that component, the bag is initialized to an empty list. This means the component has a non null value... resulting in the component being created. • Problem getting correct parameters for C# P/Invoke call to C++ dll

  Trying to Interop a functionality from the Outside In API from Oracle. Have the following function: SCCERR EXOpenExport {VTHDOC hDoc, VTDWORD dwOutputId, VTDWORD dwSpecType, VTLPVOID pSpec, VTDWORD dwFlags, VTSYSPARAM dwReserved, VTLPVOID pCallbackFunc, VTSYSPARAM dwCallbackData, VTLPHEXPORT phExport); From the header files I reduced the parameters to: typedef VTSYSPARAM VTHDOC, VTLPHDOC * typedef DWORD_PTR VTSYSPARAM typedef unsigned long DWORD_PTR typedef unsigned long VTDWORD typedef VTVOID* VTLPVOID #define VTVOID void typedef VTHDOC VTHEXPORT, *VTLPEXPORT These are for 32 bit windows Going through the header files, the example programs, and the documentation I found: 1. That pSpec could be a pointer to a buffer or NULL, so I set it to a IntPtr.Zero (documentation). 2. That dwFlags and dwReserved according to the documentation "Must be set by the developer to 0". 3. That pCallbackFunc can be set to NULL if I don't want to handle callbacks. 4. That the last two are based on structs that I wrote C# wrappers for using the [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)]. Then instatiated an instance and generated the parameters by first creating a IntPtr with Marshal.AllocHGlobal(Marshal.SizeOf(instance)), then getting the address value which is passed as a uint for dwCallbackData and a IntPtr for phExport. The final parameter list is as follows: 1. phDoc as a IntPtr which was loaded with an address by the DAOpenDocument function called before. 2. dwOutputId as uint set to 1535 which represents FI_JPEGFIF 3. dwSpecType as int set to 2 which represents IOTYPE_ANSIPATH 4. pSpec as an IntPtr.Zero where the output will be written 5. dwFlags as uint set to 0 as directed 6. dwReserved as uint set to 0 as directed 7. pCallbackFunc as IntPtr set to NULL as I will handle results 8. dwCallBackDate as uint the address of a buffer for a struct 9. phExport as IntPtr to another struct buffer still get an undefined error from the API. Meaning that the call returns a 961 which is not defined in any of the header files. In the past I have gotten this when my choice of parameter types are incorrect. I started out using Interop Assistant which was helpful in learning how many of the parameter types get translated. It is however limited by how well I am able to glean the correct native type from the header files. For example the hDoc parameter used in the preceding function was defined as a non-filesytem handle, so attempted to use Marshal to create a handle, then used an IntPtr, and finally it turned out to be an int (actually it was &phDoc used here). So is there a more scientific way of doing this, other than trial and error? Jim

  I am using JSF 2.0 and PrimeFaces 3.0. I have uploaded the images and have to crop the image. The images are uploaded and successfully displayed in the upload pages. When I select the images and click the crop button the corresponding crop bean is not called. If I don't select the image and click the crop button the corresponding crop bean class is called but a NullPointerException occurred. What is the problem?   I'm writing a Wordpress MU plugin, it includes a link with each post and I want to use ajax to call one of the plugin functions when the user clicks on this link, and then dynamically update the link-text with output from that function. I'm stuck with the ajax query. I've got this complicated, clearly hack-ish, way to do it, but it is not quite working. What is the 'correct' or 'wordpress' way to include ajax functionality in a plugin? (My current hack code is below. When I click the generate link I don't get the same output I get in the wp page as when I go directly to sample-ajax.php in my browser.) • Zaypay alternatives for payments using call or sms

  We are currently trying to implement a payment provider in zaypay for paying for services using sms or by calling a number. We already have google checkout and paypal working for regular payments but zaypay is rather inflexible, poorly documented and a pain to setup when you have hundreds of products with varying prices. So my question is, do you know of any other european payment providers that take sms and call payments? As a response to Roberts answer/question Hi Robert, I must say that the Zaypay solution is the best and only I've seen thus far regarding phoned payments. However, since its now 2 months ago I finished the implementation of our custom Zaypay UI I can't remember much of the the details of the problems we were having. I'll try to give a brief of them anyways the best I can. First of all I would like to see a redirection type scenario for payalogues. From what I remember you guys are using the JS framework "Prototype" which doesn't play nice with jQuery which we are using so we weren't able to use the popup-type scenario supported by payalogues. Furthermore when implementing our custom interface I remember a lot of missing translations, like words that were codes instead of a word or a phrase. This meant we ended up writing/translating all the messages we needed ourselves. Also, another point of annoyance was the setup of prices and items. I wish we could just send in the order items/prices as a part of the interface like you can in Google Checkout or PayPal (not that they're flawless either), instead of having to define ALL the items you will ever sell through your admin interface beforehand. As far as I can remember it is virtually impossible to use Zaypay for a multi-item order in its current form. Finally there are, as far as I can tell, some security issues that you have to think about when you implement a custom solution... especially a ajax driven one. As I said in my original post you do mention this in the documentation but I believe the documentation wasn't that comprehensive regarding security issues. Again I wish I could give more details but the code & client is long since gone, so I can't look up the comments I wrote. Sorry! Oh yeah, the general API documentation weren't exactly comprehensive and 100% correct either. Again, I don't want to advice people against using Zaypay, I just want to advice that they should try it out first on a realistic prototype and think about their implementation before releasing to production. Maybe its just me who misunderstood a lot of things but I generally had a difficult time using your framework and I was left with a feeling that the API was very new and not thought through from the beginning.

When I test the web service on it's own though, it does return a JSON string so that part seems to be working. Any help is greatly appreciated :)
