  • Jquery getJSON to external PHP page

    - by Pmarcoen
    I've been trying to make an ajax request to an external server. I've learned so far that I need to use getJSON to do this because of security reasons ? Now, I can't seem to make a simple call to an external page. I've tried to simplify it down as much as I can but it's still not working. I have 2 files, test.html & test.php my test.html makes a call like this, to localhost for testing : $.getJSON("http://localhost/OutVoice/services/test.php", function(json){ alert("JSON Data: " + json); }); and I want my test.php to return a simple 'test' : $results = "test"; echo json_encode($results); I'm probably making some incredible rookie mistake but I can't seem to figure it out. Also, if this works, how can I send data to my test.php page, like you would do like test.php?id=15 ? The test.html page is calling the test.php page on localhost, same directory I don't get any errors, just no alert ..

  • jQuery: How to parse a multidemensional array?

    - by Allen G
    I'm not sure if the array is too deep or what, but I can't seem to get anything other than the keys and undefines. Help please! I'm using Codeigniter for development. Here is the PHP then the jQuery: $term = $this->input->post('search_term'); $this->db->like('book_title', $term); $search_query = $this->db->get('books'); $return = array(); $i = 0; if ($search_query->num_rows() > 1) { foreach($search_query->result() as $s) { $return['books']['book_id'] = $s->book_id; $return['books']['book_title'] = $s->book_title; $return['books']['book_price'] = $s->book_price; $i++; } } elseif ($search_query->num_rows() == 1) { echo 1; $i = 0; $return['book_id'] = $search_query->row('book_id'); $return['book_title'] = $search_query->row('book_title'); $return['book_price'] = $search_query->row('book_price'); } elseif ($search_query->num_rows() == 0) { echo 0; } echo json_encode($return); $("#search").change(function() { var searchTerm = $(this).val(); $.post("/contentcreator/search_by_term", { search_term: searchTerm }, function(data) { $("#book_scroller").empty(); var lengthHolder = data.books; for (var i = 0; i data.books.length; i++) { var row = '<li id="book_item_' + l + '">' + data.books['book_title'] +'</li>'; $("#book_scroller").append(row); }; i++; }, "json"); }); Thanks!

  • Authorization and Jquery dialog problem.

    - by bbrepols
    Hi, I have a little problem with a Jquery dialog for an action that requires a role. In my example, the user can click on a delete button and must confirm the action. In my controller, the Delete action requires a role, if the user is in the required role, the object is deleted. The problem: How to alert the user if * the element was deleted (redirect to the Index view) * there was an error (alert with the message) * he doesn't have the rights to delete (alert with the message) Before using the authorize filter, the delete action returned a JSON with a Boolean that indicates if there was an error, an URL to redirect on success and a message to alert on error. As I can't return a JSON from my filter, I created an other method with the authorize filter that returns a partial view with the confirm content. If the user doesn't have the rights, the filter returns a partial view with an unauthorized exception content. The problem: How to distinct which partial view was returned. When I create the dialog, I need to know for the buttons function. Thanks!

  • Preserve whitespace and formatting for text returned from $.get jquery call

    - by desigeek
    I have a jquery $.get() call in my app that requests an entire web page. In the callback function, I access a div in the returned page, get its data and show it on my page. The problem is that the text I get from the div does not preserve the source formatting. If the div in the requested page had say an ordered list, then when i get that text and display on my page, it shows up as a paragraph with items inline instead of being shown as a list. I do not know whether the problem is how $.get() is getting the data or in my displaying of the data. //get the page $.get($(this).attr('href'), function(data){ callbackFunc(data,myLink); }, "html"); function callbackFunc(responseText, customData){ //response has bg color of #DFDFDF var td = $("td[bgcolor='#DFDFDF']", responseText); //text to show is in div of that td var forumText = $('div', td).text(); //append new row with request data below the current row in my table var currentRow = $(customData).parent('td').parent('tr'); var toAppend = "<tr><td class='myTd' colspan='3'>" + forumText + "</td></tr>"; $(currentRow).after(toAppend); } The response data shows up like ABC in the new row I add to my div while the source page div had A B C I should add that this script is part of an extension for Google Chrome so that is my only browser that I have tested on

  • JQuery load help

    - by mtwallet
    Hi. I am trying to use load() to place some html into a div on a page. I have a bunch of links like this: <div id="slideshow"> <div id="slides"> <div class="projects"> <a href="work/mobus.html" title="Mobus Fabrics Website"> <img src="images/work/mobus.jpg" alt="Mobus Fabrics Website" width="280" height="100" /> </a> <a href="work/eglin.html" title="Eglin Ltd Website"> <img src="images/work/eglin.jpg" alt="Eglin Ltd Website" width="280" height="100" /> </a> <a href="work/first-brands.html" title="First Brands Website"> <img src="images/work/first-brands.jpg" alt="First Brands Website" width="280" height="100" /> </a> </div> <a id="prev"></a> <a id="next"></a> </div> and my jquery code looks like this: $('.projects a').click(function() { $('#work').load(this.href); }); The problem is when clicked the html is placed in the #work div the html is loaded in another page. Please can anyone help?

  • jQuery-driven app. won't work without alert()

    - by webjawns.com
    I have seen a lot of articles on this, but none dealing with jQuery, so here I go... I am implementing a version of a script from http://javascript-array.com/scripts/jquery_simple_drop_down_menu/ into an existing application; however, I cannot get it to work without adding alert('msg...') as the first method within the $(document).ready() call. This has nothing to do with load time... no matter how long I wait, the menu does not work. Add alert(), however, and it works like a charm. var timeout = 500; var closetimer = 0; var ddmenuitem = 0; function jsddm_open() { jsddm_canceltimer(); jsddm_close(); ddmenuitem = $(this).find('ul').css('visibility', 'visible');} function jsddm_close() { if(ddmenuitem) ddmenuitem.css('visibility', 'hidden');} function jsddm_timer() { closetimer = window.setTimeout(jsddm_close, timeout);} function jsddm_canceltimer() { if(closetimer) { window.clearTimeout(closetimer); closetimer = null;}} $(document).ready(function() { $('#jsddm > li').bind('mouseover', jsddm_open) $('#jsddm > li').bind('mouseout', jsddm_timer)}); document.onclick = jsddm_close;

  • Cannot clear the form after Submit using the Validation plugin in jQuery

    - by novellino
    Hello, I an quite new to jQuery and I have a problem while trying to create a form. I am using the Validation plugin for validate the email (one the form's field). When I click the Submit button I want to call my own function because I want to save the data in an XML file. This is my button: (as I understood the plugin uses "submit" for understand the button) <input type="submit" name="submit" class="submit" id="submit_btn" value="Send"/> and here is the script for the validation: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { //this is my form $("#contactForm").validate(); /*save the valid data in the xml*/ $(".submit").click(function() { var email = $("input#email").val(); var subject = $("input#subject").val(); var message = $("textarea#message").val(); if (email == "" || !$("#contactForm").valid()) { return false; } var dataString = 'email='+ email + '&subject=' + subject + '&message=' + message; //alert("DATA: " +dataString); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "SaveData.jsp", data: dataString, success: function(data){} }); return false; }); }); </script> In general it works ok but I have two basic problems. When I click the button in the beginning having all the form empty, I get no message for the field required. Also when the data are valid and I am doing the submit, the form does not become clear after the submit. If I deleted this script code, these actions are working properly but I can not save the data! Does anyone know what is wrong? Thanks a lot!

  • jQuery Dialog form serialize reposting incorrect data on subsequent uses

    - by Ben Dauphinee
    I'm working with forms inside jQuery Dialog, and am having some issues with the data it's posting. First load and save works fine, posts the correct data. Until I refresh the page though, every subsequent load seems to work, as in the correct data is in the form, however, when saved, the data from the first load is what is posted every time. function formdialog(url, tack, divid, scriptload){ $.getJSON(url+tack+"/form", function(data){ var formwin = '<div><form id="formdialog">'+data['form']+'</form></div>'; var dialog = $(formwin).dialog({ title: data['title'], autoOpen: false, modal: true, buttons: { "Save": function(){ $.post(url+tack+"/process", $("#formdialog").serialize(), function(data){ alert($("#formdialog").serialize()); $(this).dialog('close'); $(this).remove(); } ); }, "Cancel": function(){$(this).dialog('close'); $(this).remove();} } }); dialog.dialog("open"); }); } $(function(){ $("a.edlnk").click(function(){ var url = $(this).attr("href"); formdialog(CONFIG_HREF_SITE+"ajax/"+appControl, "/"+url, divid); return false; }); });

  • Having trouble parsing XML with jQuery

    - by Jack
    Hi Guys, I'm trying to parse some XML data using jQuery, and as it stands I have extracted the 'ID' attribute of the required nodes and stored them in an array, and now I want to run a loop for each array member and eventually grab more attributes from the notes specific to each ID. The problem currently is that once I get to the 'for' loop, it isn't looping, and I think I may have written the xml path data incorrectly. It runs once and I recieve the 'alert(arrayIds.length);' only once, and it only loops the correct amount of times if I remove the subsequent xml path code. Here is my function: var arrayIds = new Array(); $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "question.xml", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml) { $(xml).find("C").each(function(){ $("#attr2").append($(this).attr('ID') + "<br />"); arrayIds.push($(this).attr('ID')); }); for (i=0; i<arrayIds.length; i++) { alert(arrayIds.length); $(xml).find("C[ID='arrayIds[i]']").(function(){ // pass values alert('test'); }); } } }); }); Any ideas?

  • mvc jquery passing form values after user presses "Accept" button

    - by gdubs
    So I have a form and a submit button that posts the form to an action. But I wanted to show a popup where the user can deny or accept an agreement. Here's my jquery $(document).ready((function () { var dialog = $('#confirmation-dialog').dialog({ autoOpen: false, width: 500, height: 600, resizable: false, modal: true, buttons: { "Accept": function () { $(this).dialog('close'); $.ajax({ type: 'POST', data: {__RequestVerificationToken: $("input[name=__RequestVerificationToken]").val()} }); }, "Cancel": function () { $(this).dialog('close'); } } }); $('#registration-submit').click(function (e) { var action = $(this.form); console.log(action); var form = $('form'); dialog.dialog("open"); return false; }); })); My problem with this is that it would post, but it would only send my AntiforgeryToken, and not the values of the form. But when it goes through the TryupdateModel it would go through for some reason but will not Save (cuz of the missing data that wasn't passed on the formcollection).

  • JQuery SelectList Option Changed doesn't refresh

    - by Jean-Philippe
    Hi. I have this select list: <select url="/Admin/SubCategories" name="TopParentId" id="ParentList"> <option value="">Please select a parent category</option> <option value="1" selected="selected">New Store</option> <option value="2">Extensions</option> <option value="3">Remodel</option> <option value="4">Bespoke Signage</option> <option value="5">Tactical Signage</option> <option value="6">Size Chart</option> <option value="7">Contact Info</option> </select> As you can see the option 1 is marked as selected. When I change the selection, I use this code to do an ajax call to get some values to populate a new select list: $("#ParentList").unbind("change"); $("#ParentList").change(function() { var itemId = $(this).val(); var url = $(this).attr("url"); var options; $.getJSON(url, itemId, function(data) { var defaultoption = '<option value="0">Please select a sub-category</option>'; options += defaultoption; $.each(data, function(index, optionData) { var option = '<option value="' + optionData.valueOf + '">' + optionData.Text + '</option>'; options += option; }); $("#SubParentList").html(options); }); }); My problem is that whenever I change the selection, the itemId is always the id of option 1, because it is marked as selected. It doesn't pick up the value of the option it is being changed too. Can someone please enlighten me of their knowledge. Regards, Jean-Philippe

  • Refresh Div with Jquery at fixed time

    - by Ben C
    I've got a php script that tells me when the next bus is due, and at the moment I'm refreshing this into a div, using jquery, every minute or so. Now, because I know the time at which the data will change (after the bus has come), I want it to refresh the div at this time (or just after, doesn't really matter). I should point out that I'm fairly new to js, but this is what I've got so far: var nextbustime = $('#bus').contents(); var nextbustime = new Date(nextbustime); var now = new Date(); var t = nextbustime.getTime() - now.getTime(); var refreshId = setTimeout(function() { $('#bus').fadeOut("slow").load('modules/bus.php?randval='+ Math.random()).fadeIn("slow"); }, t); The div is loaded originally with a php include. Naturally, what I've done doesn't work at all. Do I need some loops going on? Do I need to refresh the time calculator? Please please help! Thanks in advance...

  • Add event to all elements except the given with jQuery

    - by Metropolis
    Hey everyone I created a date picker that uses ajax to populate an element with an id of calendarContainer. When the user clicks on a button to bring the calendar up, I want the user to be able to click anywhere else on the screen besides the calendar and have it hide. The calendarContainer is at the root of the dom and I have tried everything I can think of to get this working. I have gotten the calendar to go away when it is not clicked on. However, when I click on the calendar it is also going away. I only want the calendar to go away when it is not clicked on. Here are all of the things I have tried. $(":not(#calendarContainer > table)").live('click', function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); $(":not(#calendarContainer").live('click', function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); $(":not(#calendarContainer)").click(function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); $("body:not(#calendarContainer)").click(function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); $(":not(#calendarContainer, #calendarData)").live('click', function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); Thanks for any help, Metropolis

  • JQuery: Combine multiple pages into one

    - by k_wave
    I am developing an application by using phonegap and jQuery Mobile. Phonegap recommends a single document structure. As 5 divs or more in a document are pretty unclear, I'm trying to split up my pages (the div's) into multiple documents. As soon as phonegap loads the app, I want to insert these documents into the index.html. function loadPage(external_document) { var docname=external_document+".html"; $.get(docname, function(data) { console.log(docname+" loading"); $("body").append($(data).find("body")); $("head").append($(data).find("head")); console.log(docname+" loaded"); }); } document.addEventListener("deviceready", function(){ loadPage("DialogCredentials"); }, false); DialogCredentials.html <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/DialogCredentials.js"></script> </head> <body> <div data-role="page" id="dlg_credentials"> <div data-role="header"><h1>Login</h1></div> <div data-role="content"> ... </div> </div><!-- /page --> </body> </html> As soon as the loadPage gets executed there should be a <div id="dlg_credentials"… and the corresponding javascript tag in the dom of my main document. But it isn't. There are no errors shown in the web inspector. So what am I doing wrong here?

  • jQuery class selector oddness

    - by x3sphere
    I'm using jQuery to change the background image of a button depending on the class associated with it on hover. It only works if I put the hover statements in separate functions, however. Why is this? Here's the NON working code, always evaluates to the .submit hover statement, even when that class is removed via the keyup event. $(function() { { $('.submit-getinfo').hover(function () { $(this).css( {backgroundPosition: "right bottom"} ); }, function() { $(this).css( {backgroundPosition: "right top"} ); //$(this).removeClass('submithover'); }); $('.submit').hover(function () { $(this).css( {backgroundPosition: "left bottom"} ); }, function() { $(this).css( {backgroundPosition: "left top"} ); //$(this).removeClass('submithover'); }); }}); Working code: $(function() { { $('.submit').hover(function () { $(this).css( {backgroundPosition: "left bottom"} ); }, function() { $(this).css( {backgroundPosition: "left top"} ); //$(this).removeClass('submithover'); }); }}); $('#test').bind('keyup', function() { if (url == 'devel') { $("#submit").addClass("submit-getinfo").removeClass("submit"); $('.submit-getinfo').hover(function () { $(this).css( {backgroundPosition: "right bottom"} ); }, function() { $(this).css( {backgroundPosition: "right top"} ); //$(this).removeClass('submithover'); }); } } ); I just fail to see why I have to put the hover statements in separate functions, instead of sticking both in the main DOM.

  • How to get unique value in jquery?

    - by jquerier
    I am learning jquery. I have following chunk of code in a html file: <table width="100%"> <tr> <td align='center'> <div> <a id='get_this' href='#'> <input type='hidden' id='id' value='1'><img src='images/1.gif'></a> </div> </td> <td align='center'> <div> <a id='get_this' href='#'> <input type='hidden' id='id' value='2'><img src='images/2.gif'></a> </div> </td> <td align='center'> <div> <a id='get_this' href='#'> <input type='hidden' id='id' value='3'><img src='images/3.gif'></a> </div> </td> </tr> What I want to do is, when I click any of the image, I can get the value, so that I can display the information. For example, I click the id=1, then I will display information on id1 in somewhere else. I tried this: $("a#get_this").click(function(){ var id = $('input[type=hidden]#id').val(); window.alert("You have chosen the id: " + id); }); It always return id: 1 to me.

  • Appended content using jQuery 'append' is not submitted?

    - by YourMomzThaBomb
    I'm new to jQuery so this may be a real simple answer. I have a ASP.NET project that I'm trying to dynamically add content to a span element by typing into a text box and clicking a button. Sounds simple right? Well, I can get the content to added, but when the form is submitted the span element is still empty? Why is the new data not submitted? What step am I missing? Please help. Here's some sample code: < span id="tagContainer" runat="server"< /span < input type="text" name="tag" id="tag" / < input type="button" name="AddTag" value="Add" class="button" onclick="addTag();" / function addTag() {    if ($("#tag").val() != "") {       $("#tagContainer").append('$("#tag").val()');       $("#tag").val("");    } }

  • "Permission denied" with Internet Explorer and jQuery

    - by rallex
    I try to do an AJAX call with jQuery and $.post in Internet Explorer, but all I get is an error saying "Permission denied". The problem is kinda weird since it occurs only when I access a page after I was on any other page. For instance I type the URL in the adress line and let IE load the page. Then I click on a button so the script should start loading JSON data. (The script providing the data lies on the same server and I access it with a relative URL, so using a different domain is not the problem here. Even tried to use a absolute URL with the same host part.) But when I refresh the page then and try it again it works! Same thing when I come to that page from another page. At first nothing works, but when I click "refresh" everything is fine. IE gives me the error message "Permission denied" while in every other browser I don't notice this behaviour. Since I have tried many things and still cannot imagine where the problem lies I'd like to ask you what you think the problem might be?

  • Updating DIV with XML content on Hover (JQuery)

    - by Andrew Parisi
    Hi everyone! The concept of what I'm trying to do is fairly simple. I have a grid of company logos loaded through XSLT from an XML document, each with their own unique links to the company profiles. I have a separate div on the page, essentially a "preview" box. What I want to do is this: I roll over a logo, and it loads the name of the company and a short description into the preview div. This content is loaded through XML. I have been messing around with the Jquery load() function, changing the target document to load on Hover—and it almost gets what I want, but it loads the whole target XML document into the div. How can I separate this target XML data into separate divs? (which I have styled differently) I'd assume I would make use of Ajax in some way. I want to load the <name> node into the name_div, and the <desc> node into the description_div, and have them update on hover. Thanks in advance for the help!

What can I do to fix this problem? I though that using events: output would place the text in that location but it does not seem to be working. Thank you all kindly in advance for any comments or answers!

  • XML\Jquery create listings based on user selection

    - by Sirius Mane
    Alright, so what I need to try and accomplish is having a static web page that will display information pulled from an XML document and render it to the screen without refreshing. Basic AJAX stuff I guess. The trick is, as I'm trying to think this through I keep coming into 'logical' barriers mentally. Objectives: -Have a chart which displays baseball team names, wins, losses, ties. In my XML doc there is a 'pending' status, so games not completed should not be displayed.(Need help here) -Have a selection list which allows you to select a team which is populated from XML doc. (done) -Upon selecting a particular team from the aforementioned selection list the page should display in a separate area all of the planned games for that team. Including pending. Basically all of the games associated with that team and the dates (which is included in the XML file). (Need help here) What I have so far: HTML\JS <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="batty.css" type="text/css" /> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Little Batty League</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="library.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var IE = window.ActiveXObject ? true: false; Any help right now would be great, I'm just banging my head against a wall. I'm trying to avoid using XSLT transforms because I absolutely despise XML and I'm not good with it. So I'd -like- to just use Javascript\PHP\etc with only a sprinkling of the necessary XML where possible..

  • Using JQuery tabs in an HTML 5 page

    - by nikolaosk
    In this post I will show you how to create a simple tabbed interface using JQuery,HTML 5 and CSS.Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of JQuery (minified version) from http://jquery.com/download.Please find here all my posts regarding JQuery.Also have a look at my posts regarding HTML 5.In order to be absolutely clear this is not (and could not be) a detailed tutorial on HTML 5. There are other great resources for that.Navigate to the excellent interactive tutorials of W3School.Another excellent resource is HTML 5 Doctor.Two very nice sites that show you what features and specifications are implemented by various browsers and their versions are http://caniuse.com/ and http://html5test.com/. At this times Chrome seems to support most of HTML 5 specifications.Another excellent way to find out if the browser supports HTML 5 and CSS 3 features is to use the Javascript lightweight library Modernizr.In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. You can use any HTML editor you like.You can use Visual Studio 2012 Express edition. You can download it here. Let me move on to the actual example.This is the sample HTML 5 page<!DOCTYPE html><html lang="en">  <head>    <title>Liverpool Legends</title>    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" >    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css">    <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.8.2.min.js"> </script>     <script type="text/javascript" src="tabs.js"></script>       </head>  <body>    <header>        <h1>Liverpool Legends</h1>    </header>     <section id="tabs">        <ul>            <li><a href="http://weblogs.asp.net/controlpanel/blogs/posteditor.aspx?SelectedNavItem=Posts§ionid=1153&postid=9143136#first-tab">Defenders</a></li>            <li><a href="http://weblogs.asp.net/controlpanel/blogs/posteditor.aspx?SelectedNavItem=Posts§ionid=1153&postid=9143136#second-tab">Midfielders</a></li>            <li><a href="http://weblogs.asp.net/controlpanel/blogs/posteditor.aspx?SelectedNavItem=Posts§ionid=1153&postid=9143136#third-tab">Strikers</a></li>        </ul>   <div id="first-tab">     <h3>Liverpool Defenders</h3>     <p> The best defenders that played for Liverpool are Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia , Ron Yeats and Alan Hansen.</p>   </div>   <div id="second-tab">     <h3>Liverpool Midfielders</h3>     <p> The best midfielders that played for Liverpool are Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes,Ian Callaghan,Steven Gerrard and Jan Molby.        </p>   </div>   <div id="third-tab">     <h3>Liverpool Strikers</h3>     <p>The best strikers that played for Liverpool are Ian Rush,Roger Hunt,Robbie Fowler and Fernando Torres.<br/>      </p>   </div> </div></section>            <footer>        <p>All Rights Reserved</p>      </footer>     </body>  </html>  This is very simple HTML markup. I have styled this markup using CSS.The contents of the style.css file follow* {    margin: 0;    padding: 0;}header{font-family:Tahoma;font-size:1.3em;color:#505050;text-align:center;}#tabs {    font-size: 0.9em;    margin: 20px 0;}#tabs ul {    float: left;    background: #777;    width: 260px;    padding-top: 24px;}#tabs li {    margin-left: 8px;    list-style: none;}* html #tabs li {    display: inline;}#tabs li, #tabs li a {    float: left;}#tabs ul li.active {    border-top:2px red solid;    background: #15ADFF;}#tabs ul li.active a {    color: #333333;}#tabs div {    background: #15ADFF;    clear: both;    padding: 15px;    min-height: 200px;}#tabs div h3 {    margin-bottom: 12px;}#tabs div p {    line-height: 26px;}#tabs ul li a {    text-decoration: none;    padding: 8px;    color:#0b2f20;    font-weight: bold;}footer{background-color:#999;width:100%;text-align:center;font-size:1.1em;color:#002233;}There are some CSS rules that style the various elements in the HTML 5 file. These are straight-forward rules. The JQuery code lives inside the tabs.js file $(document).ready(function(){$('#tabs div').hide();$('#tabs div:first').show();$('#tabs ul li:first').addClass('active'); $('#tabs ul li a').click(function(){$('#tabs ul li').removeClass('active');$(this).parent().addClass('active');var currentTab = $(this).attr('href');$('#tabs div').hide();$(currentTab).show();return false;});}); I am using some of the most commonly used JQuery functions like hide , show, addclass , removeClass I hide and show the tabs when the tab becomes the active tab. When I view my page I get the following result Hope it helps!!!!!

I can see that its not a public variable, but im wondering if i need to modify the library or just call it in a different way
