  • Printing an East Coast Timestamp in Arizona time

    - by John
Hello, The code returns "datesubmitted" in a nice format. The field "datesubmitted" is a timestamp of East Coast time. How could I print it out as Arizona time? Right now, that would be 3 hours behind East Coast time. For now, I would be happy just to do that. However, during other parts of the year (when Daylight Savings time is not being used), Arizona time is only 2 hours behind East Coast time. Is there a way that I could print the date below so that Arizona time is always correctly displayed? Or would I have to change the code when Daylight Savings time stops and starts? Thanks in advance, John date('l, F j, Y &\nb\sp &\nb\sp g:i a &\nb\sp &\nb\sp \N\E\W &\nb\sp \Y\O\R\K &\nb\sp \T\I\M\E', strtotime($row["datesubmitted"]))

  • Launch app with specific locale

    - by hermo
Changing the locale for a device is done in the settings, and can't be done by an app AFAIK. I know how to force my own app to a specific locale, described e.g. here: http://www.tutorialforandroid.com/2009/01/force-localize-application-on-android.html So now to my question. Can I force, programatically, the local of an activity that isn't mine? I can imagine 2 ways this could be possible: Specifying the locale in an Intent used to start the activity. Access and manipulate the configuration of running activities (in the same way as I can modify my own activities' configurations). Any thoughts? Is it possible? Is it reasonable? I guess 2. would be more direct, but require some kind of permission (e.g. the modified atcitiy must allow it in the manifest file). But I'd settle for 1. or similar. What I want is to be able to see certain apps in a different language, but rather not change the system locale. E.g. the Android Market, that only displays comments in one language. Can't think of other things right now. Can't find much written on Locale in the documentation, what is and isn't possible. But hoping some undocumented feature might enable this :)

  • Phonegap 2.1 for Android - Hello World App 3 errors at launch

    - by noway
I developed something with Phonegap for iOS, but this is my first trial for Android. I created my hello world application with CLI sth like this mentioned here: $ /path/to/cordova-android/bin/create /path/to/my_new_cordova_project com.example.cordova_project_name CordovaProjectName Even though I created this app in Eclipse Workspace, I needed to import it to Eclipse. I created two AVDs. One for API level 8, one for API level 16. When I try to build, it gives me these three errors and a warning. What is wrong with my setup? Description Resource Path Location Type error: No resource identifier found for attribute 'hardwareAccelerated' in package 'android' AndroidManifest.xml /com.example.test.testprojectname line 20 Android AAPT Problem error: No resource identifier found for attribute 'xlargeScreens' in package 'android' AndroidManifest.xml /com.example.test.testprojectname line 22 Android AAPT Problem error: Error: String types not allowed (at 'configChanges' with value 'orientation|keyboardHidden|keyboard|screenSize|locale'). • C# calendar needs BL for real-time reminders?

    - by lazfish
The calendar is done and now we are wanting to add email, SMS and voice-call reminders. We are using jQuery, C#, .Net & SQL Server 08. No restrictions on our options. I know how to add the API calls and services to initiate these reminders. I am asking for advise about how to approach a reliable timely listener service that knows to call the service or API for the reminder before an appointment. EG. SMS: "You have a conference call in 30 minutes."

  • Advice on whether to use scripting, run time compile or something else

    - by Gaz83
I work in the prodution area at my works and I design and create the software to run our automated test equipment. Everytime I get involved with a new machine I end up with a different and (hopefully) better design. Anyway I have come to the point where I feel I need to start standardization all the machines with the same program. I see a problem when it comes to applying updates as at the moment the test procedures are hard coded into the program at each station. I neeed to be able to update the core program without affecting the testing section. The way I see it that this will mean splitting the program into 2 sections. Main UI - This is the core that talks to everything on the machine such as cameras, sensors, printer etc and is a standalone application. Test Procedure - This is the steps that is executeted everytime the machine runs through a test. The main UI will load the test procedure and execute when ever a test is required. My question is what is the best approach to this in terms of having an application load a file and execute the code with in? Take into account that the code in the test procedure will need access to public methods on the UI/core system to communicate to sensors etc. I have heard about MS Roslyn and had a quick look, would this solve my issue?

  • Web Writing Services - When It's Time to Pass the Ball

When it comes to making our online marketing campaigns a success, most of us would be better off hiring a variety of web writing services to help. After all, while we've all seen (and envied) the one-man-act extraordinaire, there isn't too many of us who haven't been victim to the frazzled, pressure-cooker feeling of having sole responsibility for our companies' successes either. Besides, who in their right mind would put that kind of pressure on themselves when outsourcing to a web writing service can be just as profitable?

  • Why does my FPS drop gradually over time?

    - by mmankt
I'm working on this game: yt alpha preview I came into a huge game-breaking problem - after 10-15 min of gameplay the FPS drops from 60 to 30 and is very unstable. I'm using tons of physics and particles, I'm deleting and nulling everything I can after it's supposed to be removed, I remove objects from vectors etc. The memory usage is stable at around 150mb so a leak is unlikely (or invisible?)- after a round ends and I delete everything, play a new round and performance is still terrible. I spent two days trying to figure this out and I just can't fix it. Maybe I'm missing something? I know it's hard to help with no code but I would just have to post my whole source.

  • Different values for Time.now when using activerecord

    - by Josué Lima
I have this weird situation: When I do on rails console Time.now or Time.zone.now I get the same values (suppose they run at the sime time: 2014-06-05 23:38:06 -0300) But when I use Time.now in a query like: Match.where("datetime = ?", Time.now) it returns the time 3 hours ahead! .to_sql output: SELECT `matches`.* FROM `matches` WHERE (datetime = '2014-06-06 02:38:06') any thoughts on that? • Forwarding activity result to parent, with singleTop launch mode

    - by Joe
I have two activities: a MainListActivity, and a DetailViewActivity. DetailViewActivity is set with android:launchMode="singleTop". When clicking an item in the "main list" activity, it launches the "detail view" activity via: startActivityForResult(detailIntent, REQUEST_CODE_DETAIL); If I then call setResult(RESULT_OK, resultData); and finish(); from within the Detail activity, that resultData is received by the "main list" activity's onActivityResult(..) method correctly. However, if I implement a "see previous"/"see next" type of navigation within the Detail activity, and implement it using singleTop, that result no longer gets sent back to the initial activity: Intent nextItemIntent = this.createIntent(nextId); nextItemIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_FORWARD_RESULT); startActivity(nextItemIntent); // at this point, my DetailActivity's onNewIntent() method is called, and the new data is loaded properly But from here, when I call setResult(..) and finish(), my MainList activity never receives the new/updated result. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

  • Possible to launch command line air app?

    - by gmoniey
Is it possible to create a command line Abode Air app? I know thats not the intended use of the framework, but I have a lot of utility code written in as3, and I have a need to programatically run some utility functions from another app (not flash). I know I can pass command line parameters to the Air app, but I would like to avoid having a window pop up while the calculations are being made. Thanks.

The temperature must be displayed in BCD format, and the high and low set points will be programmed into the system. if the set points are exceeded then an alarm will be indicated. • .htaccess two different rules but only one per time

    - by dragon112
I'm rather new to the whole .htaccess thing and I'm using the following right now to use 'pretty url's': <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?path=$1 [NS,L] </IfModule> Now i found my website a bit slow and decided to start gzipping my CSS files thru a php script I found somewhere on the web (the website). For this to work I need to rewrite the url to open the correct php file. That would look something like this: RewriteRule ^(.*).css$ /csszip.php?file=$1.css [L] But I only want the first to happen when the second doesn't and vice versa. In other words i'd like something like this: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On if request doesn't contain .css do RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?path=$1 [NS,L] else do RewriteRule ^(.*).css$ /csszip.php?file=$1.css [L] </IfModule> Can anyone help me with the proper code or a place where i can find a way to use some kind of conditional statement in htaccess files? Thanks in Advance!:)
