• .NET Remoting Client's Problem when running on the machine with Multi NICs

  I built a .NET Remoting Client which works quite fine on the machine of single NIC, and lots of testing messages received via remoting event. But when additional NIC was added, the Client seemed to be able to connect the remoting Server, but the testing messages cannot arrive anymore. From debugging, the server end did trigger the event but the client didn't get that. • jQuery: jquery form plugin syntax?

  I'm using jquery with the jquery form plugin. I read through a bunch of posts, the docs, etc., and I'm still having trouble with what I believe to be simple. I have a form with some simple text inputs and a couple textareas, and I have this link that I want to trigger submission of that form to a specific method (/email): <a id="email-data">Send Email</a> and this jquery in doc ready: $('#email-data').click(function() { var options = { url: '/email/', success: alert('Email sent.') }; $('#report-giftcard-sales-form').ajaxSubmit(options); }); So I would expect it to submit to my /email method, but no such luck. Currently I just have the /email method logging a debug message, so it's as simple as can be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  Rather than displaying a PNG in the browser window, I'd like the action result to trigger the file download dialogue box (you know the open, save as, etc). I can get this to work with the code below using an unknown content type, but the user then has to type in .png at the end of the file name. • flex/actionscript client entity state refresh on JPA update using Pimento EntityManager

  My Flex application uses a client-side pimento EntityManager which fetches quite a few objects and associations. It does this by forcing eager fetching of particular association ends in the form of fetch plans. I would like to update the client whenever a change has been made to an entity existing in the EntityManager's cache. Is it possible to update the state of the changed entity ONLY, including updating which entities are associated, without resetting the state of these associated entities? I have setup an EntityListener with a JPA post-update method that notifies clients when a persisted entity has been updated. I want this to trigger a refresh for the modified client-side entity, but calling EntityManager.refresh(entity) resets all lazy associations to proxies. Initializing these proxies resets the associated entities, even if they were loaded previously. I'm looking for an efficient way to keep the client's state in synch with the server's state, at least with respect to the entities that have already been retrieved by the initial load.

• Run JavaScript after a DropDownList is DataBound

  I need to trigger a JavaScript function to be called AFTER a DropDownList on my ASP.NET WebForms page is DataBound, because the SelectedIndex of this DropDownList is the parameter to the JavaScript function. I've tried this various ways, but it seems that if I do it with pure JavaScript onload by using ClientScript.RegisterStartUpScript, the control can be found (because it hasn't been assigned a clientID yet?). If I use jQuery (document).ready { } it says that the DropDownList has no selectedIndex.value. So I need some JavaScript to run AFTER the control has a value set by the DataBind. How can I accomplish this? onChanged won't work because I need the function to fire on the first page load, with no user input. DataBinding the SelectedIndex of the DropDownList doesn't cause the JavaScript onChanged event to fire.

Also the spacebar should be enabled. Otherwise the ajax search would be triggered as well if the shift-, option, or control-key, is pressed.   in one of my selection box, i have a onChange="..." specified... coz i want to change some other form value after any selection changes. however ... in the same page, some wired case i have to manually set the value.. so i have to use some javascript to set the value of the selection combox, but in this case, i don`t want that onChange event to be fired... how can i walk around it??? Forgot to mention that i am actually using dijit.form.comboBox. for normal HTML form comboBox, it won`t cause any issue.   I just realized I didn't fully understand why in .NET you assign events using a += symbol. I figured this out yesterday when I needed to remove an event and without thinking I was doing someobject.onsomeevent += null thinking that would just remove the event I had previously assigned. After some investigation, I figured out I had to someobject.onsomeevent -= someeventmethod; After figuring this out, I realized I don't understand how event methods are assigned in .NET. So I have a few questions: First, does it mean that I can do someobject.onsomeevent += someeventmethod; someobject.onsomeevent += someeventothermethod; If so, when onsomeevent occurs will they both get hit, and in the order specified or simultaneously? Furthermore, how can I determine what event methods are already assigned to someobject.onsomeevent? Second, is there a way to save the events methods in some class, remove them from someobject.onsomeevent and re-assign them after some other procedures that would normally trigger the event are complete?

  Hello, my question is quite simple: Our C# application has one MainForm with a menu and several keyboard shortcuts associated with the menu entries. Now we need to trigger the menu entries from some child forms too. But since the MainForm is inactive when one of the child forms is active, the shortcuts do not work. Is there a simple way to propagate all keyboard events from the child form to the 'Owner' form? Or just to another form in general? Ah, and we cannot use some low level windows stuff, because we need to run the application on Mono/Linux too.

  Hi, I have an observable collection implemented in my user control which indicates states of a device. Based on the collection change, the user control is to trigger animations(subscribe to collectionchanged event). The observable collection is implemented as a dependency property. In the application, I data bind the device states to the user control observableCollection using one-way databinding. When a new state is added in the application, I can see the ObservableCollection in the user control is updated. However, the CollectionChanged event never got fired, so no animations.   I have googled everywhere and I am finally giving up and asking here. I am working in Visual Studio 2010 with C#. I have set up a form with a datagridview connected to a MSSQL database and I need to save changes made in the datagridview back to the physical database. I am having some success but I think that I am going about some of it completely wrong because I can not get it to save consistently. What I really want is for the updates to work just like they do when working with Access. When I edit a row in the datagridview and then leave that row, either by selecting another row or by selecting some other control on the form or even by changing to another form or quitting the application the row should be automatically pdated to the physical database. The first part of this question I think is, what is the proper event to use to trigger the save and then second what methods should be used to actually write the data to the database?

  To support Window Vista in my game, I have changed were the save files are placed (From under Program Files to My Documents) for both XP and Vista installations. Now I would like to be able to move the current XP users save games from the old location to the new location. • Will the URL /nosuchpage get routed via my ASP.NET MVC application?

  [I'm trying to figure out the reason why I'm having another problem, and this question is part of the puzzle.] I have an MVC 2 website that has routing set up so that URLs such as /Customer/23/Order/47 get handled by various controllers. I do not have a rule that would match, for example, /nosuchpage and in my Cassini environment a request for that URL will trigger my Application_Error code, which lets me log the error and show a friendly response. However, when I deployed this website on IIS7 using integrated mode, my Application_Error is not triggered, and IIS shows its own 404 message. No matter what I've tried, I can't get Application_Error to fire. Now I'm thinking: is the reason it doesn't fire because the request is not getting routed via my application? Either because I didn't explicitly set up a catch-all route, or because the file-extension fools it into thinking it should use the "static file handler" (whatever that is)? Should I expect my Application_Error to be invoked?

• Watching setTimeout loops so that only one is running at a time.

  I'm creating a content rotator in jQuery. 5 items total. Item 1 fades in, pauses 10 seconds, fades out, then item 2 fades in. Repeat. Simple enough. Using setTimeout I can call a set of functions that create a loop and will repeat the process indefinitely. I now want to add the ability to interrupt this rotator at any time by clicking on a navigation element to jump directly to one of the content items. I originally started going down the path of pinging a variable constantly (say every half second) that would check to see if a navigation element was clicked and, if so, abandon the loop, then restart the loop based on the item that was clicked. The challenge I ran into was how to actually ping a variable via a timer. The solution is to dive into JavaScript closures...which are a little over my head but definitely something I need to delve into more. However, in the process of that, I came up with an alternative option that actually seems to be better performance-wise (theoretically, at least). That variable gets passed back and forth between the functions in the loop. Each click of the trigger also increments the global variable so that subsequent calls of the loop have a unique local variable. Then, within the loop, before the next step of each loop is called, it checks to see if the variable it has still matches the global variable. If not, it knows that a new loop has already been activated so it just ends the existing loop. Thoughts on this? Valid solution? Better options? Caveats? Dangers? UPDATE: I'm using John's suggestion below via the clearTimeout option. However, I can't quite get it to work. I then have navigation items that, when clicked, I want the above loop to stop, then restart with a new beginning slide: $(myNav).click(function(){ clearTimeout(timeout); timeout = null; startLoop(thisItem); }) If I comment out 'startLoop...' from the click event, it, indeed, stops the initial loop. However, if I leave that last line in, it doesn't actually stop the initial loop. Why? What happens is that both loops seem to run in parallel for a period. So, when I click my navigation, clearTimeout is called, which clears it.

I've looked at the hook_user_presave and hook_user_insert API docs, but don't see a way there to cancel an ongoing user registration. For this purpose, there are Setter elements. Seems all good, but I cannot use them inside EventTrigger elements. For example, if a simple Trigger, that can be bound to control properties, is used then Setter elements can be used inside. However, I do not want to bind to a property change but rather to an event.
