    - by Sambath
Could anyone tell me how to bulk insert data from a ref cursor to a temporary table in PL/SQL? I have a procedure that one of its parameters stores a result set, this result set will be inserted to a temporary table in another stored procedure. This is my sample code. CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE get_account_list ( type_id in account_type.account_type_id%type, acc_list out sys_refcursor ) is begin open acc_list for select account_id, account_name, balance from account where account_type_id = type_id; end get_account_list; CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE proc1 ( ... ) is accounts sys_refcursor; begin get_account_list(1, accounts); --How to bulk insert data in accounts to a temporary table? end proc1; In SQL Server, I can write as code below CREATE PROCEDURE get_account_list type_id int as select account_id, account_name, balance from account where account_type_id = type_id; CREATE PROCEDURE proc1 ( ... ) as ... insert into #tmp_data(account_id, account_name, balance) exec get_account_list 1 How can I write similar to the code in SQL Server? - by Dan
I'd like to melt the dataframe so that in one column i have dates in a second i have username as the variable and finally the value. • What should I use for the .SWF path in FlowPlayer's configuration if I'm developing from my desktop?

    - by codeninja
I'm having an extremely difficulty time getting the flowplayer to show up and the worst part is I have no idea what is wrong because I'm not getting any error messages! I have an external javascript file: C:/desktop/mysite/js/jq/plugins.js calling $f() from: C:/desktop/mysite/thirdparty/flowplayer/flowplayer.js the swf files also live there... I'm working on file/desktop (no localhost or webserver) $(video.id).flowplayer("thirdparty/flowplayer/flowplayer-3.1.15.swf", { clip:{ .... }, // min Flash version version:[9,115], // older versions will see a custom message onFail:function(){ alert("Failed!"); }, onError:function(errCode, errMsg){ alert(errCode+errMsg); } }); I don't know what path to use for the SWFs to get them to load, is the path relative to the javascript (plugins.js) that calls $f() or is it relative to the path of the flowplayer.js ?? bangs head on wall

  • Scala type conversion error, need help!

    - by Mansoor Ashraf
Hello I am getting a weird error when trying to use a Java map in Scala. This is the snippet of code val value:Double = map.get(name) if (value eq null) map.put(name, time) else map.put(name, value + time) the map is defined as val map=new ConcurrentHashMap[String,Double] and this is the error I am getting error: type mismatch; found : Double required: ?{val eq: ?} Note that implicit conversions are not applicable because they are ambiguous: both method double2Double in object Predef of type (Double)java.lang.Double and method doubleWrapper in object Predef of type (Double)scala.runtime.RichDouble are possible conversion functions from Double to ?{val eq: ?} if (value eq null) map.put(name, time) I am new to Scala so I am having a hard time parsing the stacktrace. Any help would be appreciated

  • LINQ query checks for null

    - by user300992
I have a userList, some users don't have a name (null). If I run the first LINQ query, I got an error saying "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. var temp = (from a in userList where ((a.name == "john") && (a.name != null)) select a).ToList(); However, if I switch the order by putting the checking for null in front, then it works without throwing any error: var temp = (from a in userList where ((a.name != null) && (a.name == "john")) select a).ToList(); Why is that? If that's pure C# code (not LINQ), I think both would be the same. I don't have SQL profiler, I am just curious what will be the difference when they are being translated on SQL level.

  • Data in two databases, eager spool resulting in query

    - by Valkyrie
I have two databases in SQL2k5: one that holds a large amount of static data (SQL Database 1) (never updated but frequently inserted into) and one that holds relational data (SQL Database 2) related to the static data. They're separated mainly because of corporate guidelines and business requirements: assume for the following problem that combining them is not practical. There are places in SQLDB2 that PKs in SQLDB1 are referenced; triggers control the referential integrity, since cross-database relationships are troublesome in SQL Server. BUT, because of the large amount of data in SQLDB1, I'm getting eager spools on queries that join from the Id in SQLDB2 that references the data in SQLDB1. (With me so far? Maybe an example will help:) SELECT t.Id, t.Name, t2.Company FROM SQLDB1.table t INNER JOIN SQLDB2.table t2 ON t.Id = t2.FKId This query results in a eager spool that's 84% of the load of the query; the table in SQLDB1 has 35M rows, so it's completely choking this query. I can't create a view on the table in SQLDB1 and use that as my FK/index; it doesn't want me to create a constraint based on a view. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this huge bottleneck? (Short of putting the static data in the first db: believe me, I've argued that one until I'm blue in the face to no avail.) Thanks! valkyrie Edit: also can't create an indexed view because you can't put schemabinding on a view that references a table outside the database where the view resides. Dang it.

  • My Zend Framework 'quoting' mess.

    - by tharkun
I've got a probably very simple issue to which I can't find a satisfactory (subjectively seen) answer in the Zend Framework manual or elsewhere... There are so many ways how I can hand over my php variables to my sql queries that I lost the overview and probably I lack some understanding about quoting in general. Prepared Statements $sql = "SELECT this, that FROM table WHERE id = ? AND restriction = ?"; $stmt = $this->_db->query($sql, array($myId, $myValue)); $result = $stmt->fetchAll(); I understand that with this solution I don't need to quote anything because the db handles this for me. Querying Zend_Db_Table and _Row objects over the API $users = new Users(); a) $users->fetchRow('userID = ' . $userID); b) $users->fetchRow('userID = ' . $users->getAdapter()->quote($userID, 'INTEGER')); c) $users->fetchRow('userID = ?', $userID); d) $users->fetchRow('userID = ?', $users->getAdapter()->quote($userID, 'INTEGER')); Questions I understand that a) is not ok because it's not quoted at all. But what about the other versions, what's the best? Is c) being treated like a statement and automatically quoted or do I need to use d) when I use the ? identifier?

  • Run sql script from Ruby

    - by Chaker Nakhli
Hi all, Using DBI::DatabaseHandle#execute or DBI::DatabaseHandle#prepare it's not possible to run an sql script (with mutiple sql statments). It fails with the following error : ERROR: cannot insert multiple commands into a prepared statement I tried to use the "unprepared" way using DBI::DatabaseHandle#do (the doc says it "goes straight to the DBD‘s implementation") but it keeps throwing the same error. code snippet: require 'dbd/pg' require 'dbi' DBI.connect("dbi:pg:database=dbname", db_user, db_password, db_params) do |dbh| schema = IO::read(schema_file) dbh.do(schema) end I'm using ruby 1.8.6 (2007-09-24 patchlevel 111) [i386-mswin32] dbi-0.4.3 dbd-pg-0.3.9 pg-0.9.0-x86-mswin32 Thank you!

  • How do I do nested transactions in NHibernate?

    - by Gavin Schultz-Ohkubo
Can I do nested transactions in NHibernate, and how do I implement them? I'm using SQL Server 2008, so support is definitely in the DBMS. I find that if I try something like this: using (var outerTX = UnitOfWork.Current.BeginTransaction()) { using (var nestedTX = UnitOfWork.Current.BeginTransaction()) { ... do stuff nestedTX.Commit(); } outerTX.Commit(); } then by the time it comes to outerTX.Commit() the transaction has become inactive, and results in a ObjectDisposedException on the session AdoTransaction. Are we therefore supposed to create nested NHibernate sessions instead? Or is there some other class we should use to wrap around the transactions (I've heard of TransactionScope, but I'm not sure what that is)? I'm now using Ayende's UnitOfWork implementation (thanks Sneal). Forgive any naivety in this question, I'm still new to NHibernate. Thanks! EDIT: I've discovered that you can use TransactionScope, such as: using (var transactionScope = new TransactionScope()) { using (var tx = UnitOfWork.Current.BeginTransaction()) { ... do stuff tx.Commit(); } using (var tx = UnitOfWork.Current.BeginTransaction()) { ... do stuff tx.Commit(); } transactionScope.Commit(); } However I'm not all that excited about this, as it locks us in to using SQL Server, and also I've found that if the database is remote then you have to worry about having MSDTC enabled... one more component to go wrong. Nested transactions are so useful and easy to do in SQL that I kind of assumed NHibernate would have some way of emulating the same...

  • error with Security Exception

    - by Alexander
I am getting the following error on my page: Security Exception Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. The problem is with the following code SmtpClient mailClient = new SmtpClient("smtp.gmail.com", 587); What's weird is that when testing it at my localhost, everything works fine, but when I put it on my 1and1 web host it generates the error above. I contacted their support and here's their answer. We do check the error logs and the operation require a FullTrust environment which currently fall under restriction on .NET Framewor k What should I do?

  • How many SQL Server DBAs does an organization need?

    - by RickHeiges
"How many SQL Server DBAs do we need?" - This is a question that often comes up in conversations with customers. Essentially, customers want to know if they have enough DBAs or too many. This is not a trivial question. If you do some research online via your favorite search engine, you will most likely come across numbers such as 40-65 DBs per DBA (for SQL Server). I remember finding another number relating to storage space instead of the number of DBs; the range was 3-5TB per DBA. I have had custoemrs...(read more)

  • Doing large updates against indexed view

    - by user217136
We have an indexed view that runs across three large tables. Two of these tables (A & B) are constantly getting updated with user transactions and the other table (C) contains data product info that is needs to be updated once a week. This product table contains over 6 million records. We need this view across these three tables for our core business process and unfortunately we cannot change this aspect. We even had a sql server MVP come in to help test under load to make sure we have the most efficient configuration. There is one column in the product table that gets utilized in the view and has to be updated each week. The problem we are now encountering is that as volume is increasing on our transactions against tables A & B, the update to Table C is causing deadlocks. I have tried several different methods to no avail: 1) I was hoping that we could change the view so that table C could be a dirty read "WITH (NOLOCK)" but apparently that functionality is not available with indexes views. 2) I thought about updating a new column in Table C and then just renaming it when the process is done but you cannot do that due to the dependency in the view. 3) I also entertained the idea of writing this value to a temporary product table, and then running an ALTER statement against the view to have it point to my new table. however when i did that the indexes on my view were dropped and it took quite a bit of time to recreate them. 4) we tried to do the weekly update in small chunks (as small as 100 records at a time) but we still run into dead locks. questions: a) we are using sql server 2005. Does sql server 2008 have a new functionality with their indexed views that would help us? Is there now a way to do dirty reads w/ an indexed view? b) a better approach to altering an existing view to point to a new table? thanks!

  • Scripting Bridge generates error creating a new playlist in iTunes on 10.5, but not 10.6

    - by Simone Manganelli
    I'm having a problem with the Scripting Bridge framework in 10.5. Specifically, I use this code to create a new user playlist in iTunes: NSDictionary *propertiesDict = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:@"playlistName" forKey:@"name"]; playlistToReturn = (iTunesUserPlaylist*)[[[iTunesApp classForScriptingClass:@"user playlist"] alloc] initWithProperties:propertiesDict]; SBElementArray *sourcesArray = [iTunesApp sources]; iTunesSource *librarySource = [sourcesArray objectAtIndex:0]; SBElementArray *userPlaylistsArray = [librarySource userPlaylists]; [userPlaylistsArray addObject:playlistToReturn]; This code works fine in 10.6. The playlist is created correctly, and I can add songs to it later. However, on 10.5, an error is generated: Apple event:'core'\'crel'{ 'kocl':'cUsP', 'insh':'insl'{ 'kobj':'obj '{ 'want':'cUsP', 'from':'obj '{ 'want':'cSrc', 'from':'null'(), 'form':'ID ', 'seld':42 }, 'form':'indx', 'seld':'abso'($206C6C61$) }, 'kpos':'end ' }, 'prdt':{ 'pnam':'utxt'("playlistName") } }; Error Domain=SBError Code=-10014 UserInfo=0x152c8cb0 "Operation could not be completed. • MS Query Analyzer / Management Studio replacement?

    - by kprobst
I've been using SQL Server since version 6.5 and I've always been a bit amazed at the fact that the tools seem to be targeted to DBAs rather than developers. I liked the simplicity and speed of the Query Analyzer for example, but hated the built-in editor, which was really no better than a syntax coloring-capable Notepad. Now that we have Management Studio the management part seems a bit better but from a developer standpoint the tools is even worse. Visual Studio's excellent text editor... without a way to customize keyboard bindings!? Don't get me started on how unusable is the tree-based management hierarchy. Why can't I re-root the tree on a list of stored procs for example the way the Enterprise Manager used to allow? Now I have a treeview that needs to be scrolled horizontally, which makes it eminently useless. The SQL server support in Visual Studio is fantastic for working with stored procedures and functions, but it's terrible as a general ad hoc data query tool. I've tried various tools over the years but invariably they seem to focus on the management side and shortchange the developer in me. I just want something with basic admin capabilities, good keyboard support and requisite DDL functionality (ideally something like the Query Analyzer). At this point I'm seriously thinking of using vim+sqlcmd and a console... I'm that desperate :) Those of you who work day in and day out with SQL Server and Visual Studio... do you find the tools to be adequate? Have you ever wished they were better and if you have found something better, could you share please? Thanks!
