  • 302 or 301 redirect in case where redirect lasts 1-2 months

    - by Matt Helmick
    I have a case where I have a newly built "author site" (promotes the author in general as a speaker and author) which needs to to temporarily redirect traffic from the author's "book site" (focuses on advertising the specific book). Because of some upcoming publicity we want to redirect traffic from the book site to the author site as a truly temporary measure, but that redirect would probably only last for 1-2 months (until we see the flurry of activity regarding the publicity die down or until the author site has an opportunity to rise in search rankings). At first glance this seems to be the situation designed for a 302 redirect, but I'm worried about losing link juice for the original book site. Would a 301 redirect be better (keeping in mind that this would be temporary) as long as the 301 redirect was lifted after 1-2 months?

    - by Levente Nagy
    I am totally new to Linux, i installed it yesterday, since than i my fans are really loud, i did not have this problem on windows. I saw this post on this site How to control fan speed? But i am totally lost with it because im a new user to Ubuntu when i arrive to that page i see these lucid (utils): utilities to read temperature/voltage/fan sensors 1:3.1.2-2: all precise (utils): utilities to read temperature/voltage/fan sensors [universe] 1:3.3.1-2ubuntu1: all quantal (utils): utilities to read temperature/voltage/fan sensors [universe] 1:3.3.1-2ubuntu2: all raring (utils): utilities to read temperature/voltage/fan sensors [universe] 1:3.3.2-2ubuntu1: all saucy (utils): utilities to read temperature/voltage/fan sensors [universe] 1:3.3.3-1ubuntu1: all trusty (utils): utilities to read temperature/voltage/fan sensors [universe] 1:3.3.3-1ubuntu1: all So what is lucid? trusty? saucy? and other? i thought its some kind if a ubuntu type (sorry for beeing silly here) i checked my ubuntu version it just says Ubuntu 12.10 So which one i need to download? • Django - no module named app

    - by Koran
    Hi, I have been trying to get an application written in django working - but it is not working at all. I have been working on for some time too - and it is working on dev-server perfectly. But I am unable to put in the production env (apahce). My project name is apstat and the app name is basic. I try to access it as following Blockquote http://hostname/apstat But it shows the following error: MOD_PYTHON ERROR ProcessId: 6002 Interpreter: 'domU-12-31-39-06-DD-F4.compute-1.internal' ServerName: 'domU-12-31-39-06-DD-F4.compute-1.internal' DocumentRoot: '/home/ubuntu/server/' URI: '/apstat/' Location: '/apstat' Directory: None Filename: '/home/ubuntu/server/apstat/' PathInfo: '' Phase: 'PythonHandler' Handler: 'django.core.handlers.modpython' Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/mod_python/importer.py", line 1537, in HandlerDispatch default=default_handler, arg=req, silent=hlist.silent) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/mod_python/importer.py", line 1229, in _process_target result = _execute_target(config, req, object, arg) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/mod_python/importer.py", line 1128, in _execute_target result = object(arg) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/core/handlers/modpython.py", line 228, in handler return ModPythonHandler()(req) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/core/handlers/modpython.py", line 201, in __call__ response = self.get_response(request) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/core/handlers/base.py", line 134, in get_response return self.handle_uncaught_exception(request, resolver, exc_info) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/core/handlers/base.py", line 154, in handle_uncaught_exception return debug.technical_500_response(request, *exc_info) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/views/debug.py", line 40, in technical_500_response html = reporter.get_traceback_html() File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/views/debug.py", line 114, in get_traceback_html return t.render(c) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py", line 178, in render return self.nodelist.render(context) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py", line 779, in render bits.append(self.render_node(node, context)) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/debug.py", line 81, in render_node raise wrapped TemplateSyntaxError: Caught an exception while rendering: No module named basic Original Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/debug.py", line 71, in render_node result = node.render(context) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/debug.py", line 87, in render output = force_unicode(self.filter_expression.resolve(context)) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py", line 572, in resolve new_obj = func(obj, *arg_vals) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/defaultfilters.py", line 687, in date return format(value, arg) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/dateformat.py", line 269, in format return df.format(format_string) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/dateformat.py", line 30, in format pieces.append(force_unicode(getattr(self, piece)())) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/dateformat.py", line 175, in r return self.format('D, j M Y H:i:s O') File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/dateformat.py", line 30, in format pieces.append(force_unicode(getattr(self, piece)())) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/encoding.py", line 71, in force_unicode s = unicode(s) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/functional.py", line 201, in __unicode_cast return self.__func(*self.__args, **self.__kw) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/__init__.py", line 62, in ugettext return real_ugettext(message) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/trans_real.py", line 286, in ugettext return do_translate(message, 'ugettext') File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/trans_real.py", line 276, in do_translate _default = translation(settings.LANGUAGE_CODE) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/trans_real.py", line 194, in translation default_translation = _fetch(settings.LANGUAGE_CODE) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/trans_real.py", line 180, in _fetch app = import_module(appname) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/importlib.py", line 35, in import_module __import__(name) ImportError: No module named basic My settings.py is as follows: INSTALLED_APPS = ( 'django.contrib.auth', 'django.contrib.contenttypes', 'django.contrib.sessions', 'django.contrib.sites', 'apstat.basic', 'django.contrib.admin', ) If I remove the apstat.basic, it goes through, but that is not a solution. • How do I set up ServletForwardingController to intercept for jsp requests on weblogic

    - by dok
    My end goal is to be able to use the spring message tag with configured messageSource on a legacy app using a model-1 architecture. I've done this in tomcat with something like <bean id="messageSource" class="org.springframework.context.support.ReloadableResourceBundleMessageSource"> <property name="basename" value="WEB-INF/classes/bundle"/> </bean> <bean id="urlMapping" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.handler.SimpleUrlHandlerMapping"> <property name="mappings"> <props> <prop key="*">myServletForwardingController</prop> </props> </property> </bean> <bean id="myServletForwardingController" name="/**/*.jsp" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.ServletForwardingController"> <property name="servletName" value="jsp"/> </bean> For weblogic I have <bean id="messageSource" class="org.springframework.context.support.ReloadableResourceBundleMessageSource"> <property name="basenames"> <list> <value>WEB-INF/i18n/bundle</value> </list> </property> </bean> <bean name="/**/*.jsp" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.ServletForwardingController"> <property name="servletName" value="JspServlet"/> </bean> But, no luck.   • Co-Authors Wordpress Plugin: coauthors_wp_list_authors function not working correctly

    - by rayne
    The Co-Authors Plus Plugin for Wordpress has a very annoying bug. The custom function coauthors_wp_list_authors lists authors the same way the wordpress function wp_list_authors does, but it does not include authors in the list who don't have a post of their own - if they have only entries in which they are listed as co-author but not as author, they will not be included in the list. That is of course missing a very important point. I've looked at the faulty SQL statement, but unfortunately my knowledge of advanced SQL, especially when it comes to JOINs, as well as my knowledge of the wp database structure is too limited and I remain clueless. There is a topic in the WP support forum, but unfortunately the information there is very outdated and the fix is not applicable anymore. I couldn't find any other, more current solutions on the internet. I'd be glad if somewhere here could help fix the SQL statement so it also lists co-authors who don't have posts where they're the sole author, as well as display the correct post count for all authors. Here's the entire function for reference purposes with a comment marking the SQL statement: function coauthors_wp_list_authors($args = '') { global $wpdb, $coauthors_plus; $defaults = array( 'optioncount' => false, 'exclude_admin' => true, 'show_fullname' => false, 'hide_empty' => true, 'feed' => '', 'feed_image' => '', 'feed_type' => '', 'echo' => true, 'style' => 'list', 'html' => true ); $r = wp_parse_args( $args, $defaults ); extract($r, EXTR_SKIP); $return = ''; $authors = $wpdb->get_results("SELECT ID, user_nicename from $wpdb->users " . ($exclude_admin ? "WHERE user_login <> 'admin' " : '') . "ORDER BY display_name"); $author_count = array(); # this is the SQL statement which doesn't work correctly: $query = "SELECT DISTINCT $wpdb->users.ID AS post_author, $wpdb->terms.name AS user_name, $wpdb->term_taxonomy.count AS count"; $query .= " FROM $wpdb->posts"; $query .= " INNER JOIN $wpdb->term_relationships ON ($wpdb->posts.ID = $wpdb->term_relationships.object_id)"; $query .= " INNER JOIN $wpdb->term_taxonomy ON ($wpdb->term_relationships.term_taxonomy_id = $wpdb->term_taxonomy.term_taxonomy_id)"; $query .= " INNER JOIN $wpdb->terms ON ($wpdb->term_taxonomy.term_id = $wpdb->terms.term_id)"; $query .= " INNER JOIN $wpdb->users ON ($wpdb->terms.name = $wpdb->users.user_login)"; $query .= " WHERE post_type = 'post' AND " . get_private_posts_cap_sql( 'post' ); $query .= " AND $wpdb->term_taxonomy.taxonomy = '$coauthors_plus->coauthor_taxonomy'"; $query .= " GROUP BY post_author"; foreach ((array) $wpdb->get_results($query) as $row) { $author_count[$row->post_author] = $row->count; } foreach ( (array) $authors as $author ) { $link = ''; $author = get_userdata( $author->ID ); $posts = (isset($author_count[$author->ID])) ? $author_count[$author->ID] : 0; $name = $author->display_name; if ( $show_fullname && ($author->first_name != '' && $author->last_name != '') ) $name = "$author->first_name $author->last_name"; if( !$html ) { if ( $posts == 0 ) { if ( ! $hide_empty ) $return .= $name . ', '; continue; } if ( !($posts == 0 && $hide_empty) && 'list' == $style ) $return .= '<li>'; if ( $posts == 0 ) { if ( ! $hide_empty ) $link = $name; } else { $link = '<a href="' . get_author_posts_url($author->ID, $author->user_nicename) .   • SQLAuthority News – The Best Quotes of “Who Wrote This?” Contest

    - by pinaldave
    I am a frequent reader of Brent Ozar PLF, it is one of my favorite blogs. A recent post announced a “Who Wrote This?” contest to see if readers could tell their three contributors apart based on some writing samples. Here are my favorite lines from the sample paragraphs, from each of the three “mystery authors.” Topic 1: Working with Bad Managers Mystery Author A – “Working with bad managers means working against my own happiness, and I’ve come to learn that there’s no changing bad managers.” I love this line because, as anyone who has had a bad manager knows, often a lot of self-doubt rises up. We all have to remember that sometimes the problem is out of our control. Mystery Author B – “Mentor your manager just like you would mentor a junior DBA.” Having a bad manager can be extremely depressing, and we often feel out of control. But we all need to remember that our work is a two-way street, and that sometimes we can subtly influence those above us. Mystery Author C – “The trick to working for all bad managers is to remember that they aren’t your parent. Take charge of your career.” We all also need to learn not to play the blame game. Would you rather stay in a place where you are unhappy, or would you rather take charge of your life? I hope most people would pick the latter. Topic 2: Working with Remote Teams Mystery Author A – “Like almost anything else the key is to make sure that everyone on the team has an understanding of how and when communication will occur.” Communication is so important. I cannot over emphasize how much. And this one line captures how I feel and even communicates the idea clearly! Mystery Author B – “The key to remote team success is verifiable trust: feeling confident that invisible team members are doing the right amount of the right thing at the right time.” I think this line not only captures the key aspects of remote work – verifiable work and trust – but there were so many lines that followed that I loved and could not fit here. The whole paragraph is a list for successful remote work. Everyone could benefit from reading it. Mystery Author C – “What seems clear, precise, and specific in one time zone comes across as vague, soupy, and just plain weird in another.” You know what? I just love this description. The author is right – sometimes vague e-mails really do seem soupy and weird! Topic 3: Working with Your Nemesis Mystery Author A – “Every job is temporary, but your reputation stays with you.” Everyone needs to remember this. The workplace is meant to be a professional arena, and many people have the opinion that work is temporary and disposable. No one wants to work with co-worker like that. Mystery Author B – “Unhealthy conflict is going to lead to leaving three week old tuna fish sandwiches in someone’s desk drawer.” Sometimes humor really is the best policy! Mystery Author C – “Oh no, it’s that guy.” This might seem like a weird phrase to choose as my favorite from an entire paragraph. But the whole piece was written in the form of a story of co-workers getting drunk and plotting against a nemesis. It was too funny to overlook, but too long to post here. A must read! • Unresolved compilation problems -- can't use .jar files that I have created

    - by Mike
    I created a few .jar files and am trying to access them in another application - I have tried to use both Eclipse and IntelliJ and experience the same issue: java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problems: The import com.XXXX.XXXXXXXXX.project2 cannot be resolved The import com.XXXX.XXXXXXXXX.project2 cannot be resolved BeanFactory cannot be resolved to a type Author cannot be resolved to a type AuthorFactoryImpl cannot be resolved to a type Author cannot be resolved to a type Author cannot be resolved to a type I have been using Maven during this process and the jars compile fine. I have included them on the file path using both the Maven .pom file and directly assigning them. I also have unassigned the direct file path and left the reference in Maven and vise versa -- no difference. • Objective-C: How to access methods in other classes

    - by Adam
    I have what I know is a simple question, but after many searches in books and on the Internet, I can't seem to come up with a solution. I have a standard iPhone project that contains, among other things, a ViewController. My app works just fine at this point. I now want to create a generic class (extending NSObject) that will have some basic utility methods. Let's call this class Util.m (along with the associated .h file). I create the Util class (and .h file) in my project, and now I want to access the methods contained in that class class from my ViewController. Here's an example of a simple version of Util.h #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface Util : NSObject { } - (void)myMethod; @end Then the Util.m file would look something like this: #import "Util.h" @implementation Util - (void)myMethod { NSLog(@"myMethod Called"); } @end Now that my Util class is created, I want to call the "myMethod" method from my ViewController. In my ViewController's .h file, I do the following: #import "Util.h" @interface MyViewController : UIViewController { Util *utils; } @property (assign) Util *utils; @end Finally, in the ViewController.m, I do the following: #import "Util.h" @implementation MyViewController @synthesize utils; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; utils.myMethod; //this doesn't work [utils myMethod]; //this doesn't work either NSLog(@"utils = %@", utils); //in the console, this prints "utils = (null)" } What am I doing wrong? I'd like to not only be able to directly reference other classes/methods in a simple util class like this, but I'd also like to directly reference other ViewControllers and their properties and methods as well. I'm stumped! Please Help.

  • JavaScript snippet to read and output XML file on page load?

  • Updating a specific key/value inside of an array field with MongoDB

    - by Jesta
    As a preface, I've been working with MongoDB for about a week now, so this may turn out to be a pretty simple answer. I have data already stored in my collection, we will call this collection content, as it contains articles, news, etc. Each of these articles contains another array called author which has all of the author's information (Address, Phone, Title, etc). The Goal - I am trying to create a query that will update the author's address on every article that the specific author exists in, and only the specified author block (not others that exist within the array). Sort of a "Global Update" to a specific article that affects his/her information on every piece of content that exists. Here is an example of what the content with the author looks like. { "_id" : ObjectId("4c1a5a948ead0e4d09010000"), "authors" : [ { "user_id" : null, "slug" : "joe-somebody", "display_name" : "Joe Somebody", "display_title" : "Contributing Writer", "display_company_name" : null, "email" : null, "phone" : null, "fax" : null, "address" : null, "address2" : null, "city" : null, "state" : null, "zip" : null, "country" : null, "image" : null, "url" : null, "blurb" : null }, { "user_id" : null, "slug" : "jane-somebody", "display_name" : "Jane Somebody", "display_title" : "Editor", "display_company_name" : null, "email" : null, "phone" : null, "fax" : null, "address" : null, "address2" : null, "city" : null, "state" : null, "zip" : null, "country" : null, "image" : null, "url" : null, "blurb" : null }, ], "tags" : [ "tag1", "tag2", "tag3" ], "title" : "Title of the Article" } I can find every article that this author has created by running the following command: db.content.find({authors: {$elemMatch: {slug: 'joe-somebody'}}}); So theoretically I should be able to update the authors record for the slug joe-somebody but not jane-somebody (the 2nd author), I am just unsure exactly how you reach in and update every record for that author. I thought I was on the right track, and here's what I've tried. b.content.update( {authors: {$elemMatch: {slug: 'joe-somebody'} } }, {$set: {address: '1234 Avenue Rd.'} }, false, true ); I just believe there's something I am missing in the $set statement to specify the correct author and point inside of the correct array. Any ideas? **Update** I've also tried this now: b.content.update( {authors: {$elemMatch: {slug: 'joe-somebody'} } }, {$set: {'authors.$.address': '1234 Avenue Rd.'} }, false, true );

  • Need help with some complex SQL query

    - by Psyche
    Hello guys, I need some help with a complex SQL query. Here's my setup: there are two tables, one with authors, and another with books. The books table contains a field named "author" which holds author's id. If a book has more than one author, then the "author" field will contain all the authors ids separated by ";" (something like 2;34;234). On the website I have to list all the books written by an author. If there's only one author, its simple, but how can I get those books where the author I'm interested in is the second or third author? Many thanks.

  • How to subscribe to the free Oracle Linux errata yum repositories

    - by Lenz Grimmer
    Now that updates and errata for Oracle Linux are available for free (both as in beer and freedom), here's a quick HOWTO on how to subscribe your Oracle Linux system to the newly added yum repositories on our public yum server, assuming that you just installed Oracle Linux from scratch, e.g. by using the installation media (ISO images) available from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud You need to download the appropriate yum repository configuration file from the public yum server and install it in the yum repository directory. At this point, your system is fully up to date. As the kernel was updated as well, a reboot is the recommended next action. If you want to install the latest release of the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 2 as well, you need to edit the .repo file and enable the respective yum repository (e.g. "ol6_UEK_latest" for Oracle Linux 6 and "ol5_UEK_latest" for Oracle Linux 5) manually, by setting enabled to "1". The next yum update run will download and install the second release of the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel, which will be enabled after the next reboot. -Lenz

  • "Could not load file or assembly" error on trying to access auxillary assemblies from COM

    - by Codex
    We have the project structure as follows: COMExposedCCW.dll -refers- BusinessLayer.dll -refers- Utils.dll COMExposedCCW.dll -refers- Utils.dll The COMExposedCCW.dll has been registered for COM interop. From the COM application{Excel} we can successfully create the CCW object and access its properties, but when we try to invoke methods that refer to the Business/Utils layer, it throws an exception that the file or assembly{Business/Utils} could not be found. The Business/Utils dlls are present in the same folder as the CCW. On copying the Business/Utils to the COM application directory it works fine. I've tried the following: Set "HintPath/" in the CCW project I dont want to dynamically load the assemblies using Reflection {there should be a more elegant solution} Thanks in advance.
