  • How do I use FB.Connect.streamPublish in an iframe facebook app?

    I'm making a simple iframe-based facebook app. I have the following code to size my iframe: FB_RequireFeatures(["Connect"], function(){ FB.XdComm.Server.init('/xd_receiver.htm'); FB.CanvasClient.startTimerToSizeToContent(); FB.CanvasClient.syncUrl(); }); I want to add a link that will display a popup which will allow the user to post an app-defined image/link to the user's wall. To get things working initially, I tried just using the following code on a click event: FB.Connect.streamPublish(''); However, nothing happens. I've tried adding: FB.init(<?=API_KEY?>, '/xd_receiver.htm'); both inside the FB_RequireFeatures function, before it, after it... no luck. Nothing happens. No errors are thrown. Nothing. Any ideas?

    I have an Ubuntu 11.10 and I want to connect via remote desktop to a Windows Server 2008 R2. In the properties of remote desktop connection to Windows Server 2008, is set to "safer". Specifically, the selected option is "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication." In my Ubuntu, I used Remmina to connect to Windows Server 2008. Remmina can not connect to a Windows Server 2008 with the option "Network Level Authentication" (shown in the previous paragraph). The error message I Remmina returns is as follows: "Disable the connection to the server RPD: IPWINDOWSSERVER2008" How or what program I can connect by remote desktop to a Windows Server 2008 you have selected the option "Network Level Authentication"?     I use ubuntu 12.04 on various differents laptops/netbooks on my home. I was able to connect to my own wifi network. But sometimes, I couldn't connect to my wifi network, it ask me for password again and again. After many tries (a lot of them), sometimes I can connect, but sometimes I can't. I have this problem with a Samsung netbook and with a HP laptop. Right now, I can't connect with the HP laptop. I'll be grateful for any help. Best regards, Nicolás

  • Wireless Network Found, can't connect, repeated requests for authentication

    After trawling through the internet, on forums, support websites, and through dozens upon dozens of answered questions on this site, I've not found a solution to what seems like a fairly regular problem... I cannot connect to a wireless network, and am continually asked for the network password. I have tried countless suggested solutions on the different locations I've already referred to. None of them have worked. Details of my experience are as follows: I have just recently installed Ubuntu 12.04.1 (32-bit). Ubuntu installed on my system seemingly fine, and I even formatted my hard drive during the process. It's as if it were a new desktop computer. During the installation I was asked to connect to a Wireless Network. I have a USB Wireless Card connected which I have used to connect desktop PC's, laptops, and a Wii to the internet from approximately the same area of the house (thus the same distance from the Wireless Router). I chose my network, entered the correct password for it (I double checked; it's definitely the right password) and proceeded with the installation. Several times before the installation was complete, I was asked to authenticate the connection, and this seemed to do nothing each time. On the repeated screens the password was already entered in the appropriate box. When Ubuntu booted up the first thing I was faced with (other than something about Language settings, or something) was another request for authentication. Again, the password was already there, so I clicked connect. It did not connect. Instead, I was once again faced with repeated requests every few minutes. I went onto my laptop, which is connected to this network, checked the details of the network, and entered them manually into my Ubuntu PC (including the IPv4 and IPv6 information) but this didn't work either, so I set it back to finding the settings automatically. Note, also, that the "Connect automatically" and "Available to all users" boxes are checked, and have been unchecked & rechecked countless times. I have also tried having my User account connect automatically, and to need a password entered at the welcome screen. Whilst I've been writing this, it has gone through a spat of connecting successfully to the network for less than a minute, before coming offline again, only to repeat the process. But it has now returned to prompting me for a password every couple of minutes. This computer has already run on the Fedora OS, and had no trouble connecting to, and maintaining a connection. I also have a laptop running Windows 7 less than a metre away from this desktop PC, which is connected and has no trouble maintaining a connection at 50%-100% strength (fluctuating). Therefore: - I know it's not the wireless card - I know it's not the PC itself - I know it's not the access point - I know it's not the location of my PC or wireless card - It is solely because of Ubuntu Everything else has worked fine, but the moment Ubuntu was introduced into the equation, it has gone completely wrong. Honestly; I prefer Ubuntu as an OS to Fedora, but if I can't solve the problem it'll be straight back to Fedora that I'll have to go. Can anyone help me at all?

  • Can't access local network when connect to pppoe

    I am using DSL(PPPOE) connection in ubuntu. It has two part (I am not sure), when I just connect the cable, system automatically get an IP address started with 172.x.x.x(DHCP). When I connect using username/password (PPPOE) I get another IP started with 10.x.x.x and can access internet but can't access some local IP (in my LAN), which are some FTP, media server provided by my ISP. I complained about that to my ISP but they reply Windows is working It's true, Windows 7 is working fine with this settings. I can access internet and local server at the same time. Also I use a WIFI router (TP-link TL-WR340G/TL-WR340GD) which result the same problem. So when I connect cable directly to system and use Windows 7 than everything is fine. Otherwise problem. Similar problem discussed here.   • Cannot connect to Internet after using Windows XP on dual booted machine

    I have a dual booted Windows XP and Ubuntu 10.10 box (AMD64) and have an unusual problem in that after connecting to the internet on Windows I cannot connect using Ubuntu. I don't believe it is actually a problem with configuring my Ubuntu connections because when I get up in the morning Ubuntu connects without any problem - this problem only exists (and persists for at least several hours) if I try to connect using Ubuntu immediately after connecting using Windows. I don't know how long the problem actually lasts because I usually just go to bed and then in the morning I can connect without problems. It is not problem with my provider's service as I have a second Ubuntu 10.10 box which I manually connect and works even when the dual booted one (on Ubuntu) won't. It is a particular problem with the dual booted box. A power down reset does not solve the problem.

Mobile broadband fails to connect. Somehow on Internet I found scripts to connect to Internet, but now only browser can access it, Ubuntu Software center does not recognize this connection and when try to install any software it doesnt display active internet connection. I am using two chatscript & connection in /etc/ppp/peers & /etc/ppp respectively.

  • Can only connect to file server on second attempt

    I have a FreeNas file server on my local network and I usually connect to it from Windows and Ubuntu computers. Ever since I have upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 Ubuntu will only connect after a second attempt. By which I mean, I will browse to it via the file manager and once I click on the link in "Bookmarks" it complains that it could not connect. If I then try again it connects successfully and will keep up it's connection until the laptop is suspended or looses connection to the LAN for whatever reason. This isn't much of a problem as I don't mind having to click twice but my real problem is that this means that my scheduled backup will complain that it cannot connect to the storage device if it has not already been accessed during the current session. If there is some way to either stop the issue all together or to force the backup tool (default) to immediately have a second attempt at connecting.

    I have a CISCO 802.11b WIFI Mini PCI LAN card in my IBM ThinkPad T30 laptop. Is this wireless card compatible with Lubuntu? I ran it off a Live CD and it showed the network I want to connect to – but it just won't connect. I tried installing Lubuntu and during installation it also tried to connect to the same network and still nothing. I know that the wireless network is working correctly because I can connect to it with all my other devices and it works on this very same laptop when I am running Windows.

So, problem: I see my network in the list of networks to connect, but I cant connect to it because it's grey color and not active(can't click on it). Could somebody help me to solve that problem?     I am trying to determine if a user is a facebook fan. I load the facebook JS library and initialize: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://static.ak.connect.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/FeatureLoader.js.php/en_US"></script> FB_RequireFeatures(["XFBML","Connect","Api"], function() { FB.init("my_api_key","xd_receiver.htm") }); FB.ensureInit(function () { FB.ApiClient.pages_isFan(my_profile_id,"some_UID",callback); }); However when I call the API client with FB.ApiClient.pages_isFan, I get a JS error - FB.ApiClient is undefined I am also using the FBML fan tag to display the "become a fan" button: <fb:fan profile_id="my_profile_id" stream="0" connections="10" logobar="1" width="300"></fb:fan> And would like to be notified when either the "become a fan" button is clicked or a user has successfully become a fan. The business logic is pretty simple - If they become a fan, track it in my database. Then if they try to become a fan again, check with the library if they are a fan and say "You are already a fan" if they are a fan, show the widget if not.

    Hi The Facebook connect code is eluding me a bit. I have no problem doing a login, and a wall post, however, I simply can not figure out how the delegate methods for the FBDialog andFBStreamDialog is supposed to work. - (void)postToWall { FBStreamDialog *dialog = [[[FBStreamDialog alloc] init] autorelease]; dialog.delegate = self; dialog.userMessagePrompt = @"Enter your message:"; dialog.attachment = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"JSONpost code"]; [dialog show]; } I adhere to these protocols in my controller: <FBDialogDelegate, FBSessionDelegate, FBRequestDelegate> I then implement the two methods: - (void) dialogDidCancel:(FBDialog *)dialog { NSLog(@"Failed"); } - (void) dialogDidSucceed:(FBDialog *)dialog { NSLog(@"Success"); } After I tap "publish" and the postToWall methods is done executing the Facebook "pop up" in the UI is empty, except a small "X" in the top right corner and a "F" (facebook logo) in the top left corner. The UI will stay there until I tap the "X", this results in the dialogDidCancel delegate method being called. The post data is showing up on the Facebook page, everything seems to work. Why is thedialogDidSucceedmethod never called? I need this to release my facebook controller and restore the UI back to where the user was before "starting" FB Connect. Thank You:)

    Hi, i am trying to use the old facebook connect authentication to authenticate my android client to get the necessary session id's and other credentials thats needed to start using the web service of facebook. the issue i am having is that when my android application launces and tries to load the login page for facebook, that very same login page is blank and it only displays the the facebook logo as the title of the screen.   • Interview with Ronald Bradford about MySQL Connect

    Ronald Bradford,  an Oracle ACE Director has been busy working with  database consulting, book writing (EffectiveMySQL) while traveling and speaking around the world in support of MySQL. I was able to take some of his time to get an interview on this thoughts about theMySQL Connect conference. Keith Larson: What where your thoughts when you heard that Oracle was going to provide the community the MySQL Conference ?Ronald Bradford: Oracle has already been providing various different local community events including OTN Tech Days and  MySQL community days. These are great for local regions both in the US and abroad.  In previous years there has been an increase of content at Oracle Open World, however that benefits the Oracle community far more then the MySQL community.  It is good to see that Oracle is realizing the benefit in providing a large scale dedicated event for the MySQL community that includes speakers from the MySQL development teams, invested companies in the ecosystem and other community evangelists.I fully expect a successful event and look forward to hopefully seeing MySQL Connect at the upcoming Brazil and Japan OOW conferences and perhaps an event on the East Coast.Keith Larson: Since you are part of the content committee, what did you think of the submissions that were received during call for papers?Ronald Bradford: There was a large number of quality submissions to the number of available presentation sessions. As with the previous years as a committee member for the annual MySQL conference, there is always a large variety of common cornerstone MySQL features as well as new products and upcoming companies sharing their MySQL experiences. All of the usual major players in the ecosystem will in presenting at MySQL Connect including Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Continuent, Percona, Tokutek, Sphinx and Amazon to name a few.  This is ensuring the event will have a large number of quality speakers and a difficult time in choosing what to attend. Keith Larson: What sessions do you look forwarding to attending? Ronald Bradford: As with most quality conferences you can only be in one place at one time, so with multiple tracks per session it is always difficult to decide. The continued work and success with MySQL Cluster, and with a number of sessions I am sure will be popular. The features that interest me the most are around the optimizer, where there are several sessions on new features, and on the importance of backups. There are three presentations in this area to choose from.Keith Larson: Are you going to cover any of the content in your books at your MySQL Connect sessions?Ronald Bradford: I will be giving two presentations at MySQL Connect. The first will include the techniques available for creating better indexes where I will be touching on some aspects of the first Effective MySQL book on Optimizing SQL Statements.  In my second presentation from experiences of managing 500+ AWS MySQL instances, I will be touching on areas including SQL tuning, backup and recovery and scale out with replication.   These are the key topics of the initial books in the Effective MySQL series that focus on performance, scalability and business continuity.  The books however cover a far greater amount of detail then can be presented in a 1 hour session. Keith Larson: What features of MySQL 5.6 do you look forward to the most ?Ronald Bradford: I am very impressed with the optimizer trace feature. The ability to see exposed information is invaluable not just for MySQL 5.6, but to also apply information discerned for optimizing SQL statements in earlier versions of MySQL.  Not everybody understands that it is easy to deploy a MySQL 5.6 slave into an existing topology running an older version if MySQL for evaluation of many new features.  You can use the new mysqlbinlog streaming feature for duplicating master binary logs on an older version with a MySQL 5.6 slave.  The improvements in instrumentation in the Performance Schema are exciting.   However, as with my upcoming Replication Techniques in Depth title, that will be available for sale at MySQL Connect, there are numerous replication features, some long overdue with provide significant management benefits. Crash Save Slaves, Global transaction Identifiers (GTID)  and checksums just to mention a few.Keith Larson: You have been to numerous conferences, what would you recommend for people at the conference? Ronald Bradford: Make the time to meet and introduce yourself to the speakers that cover the topics that most interest you. The MySQL ecosystem has a very strong community.  The relationships you build with presenters, developers and architects in MySQL can be invaluable, however they are created over time. Get to know these people, interact with them over time.  This is the opportunity to learn more then just the content from a 1 hour session. Keith Larson: Any additional tips to handling the long hours ? Ronald Bradford: Conferences can be hard, especially with all the post event drinking.  This is a two day event and I am sure will include additional events on Friday and Saturday night so come well prepared, and leave work behind. Take the time to learn something new.   You can always catchup on sleep later.     The MySQL Connect conference is taking place September 29-30 in San Francisco. We asked a few questions about the event to Oracle’s VP of MySQL Engineering Tomas Ulin. Hi Tomas, to start with, what is MySQL Connect? A: MySQL Connect is a conference delivered by Oracle, with and for the MySQL Community. We’ll have over 60 technical breakout sessions, Birds-of-a-feather sessions and Hands-On labs running throughout the two days, plus the keynotes. So it’s a fantastic opportunity to learn a huge amount in only two days, and to network with Oracle engineers, users, customers and partners. When will the program be available online?   • Facebook Connect Post Feed from iPhone App without preview Broken!? URGENT!

    Hello All: I just downloaded the latest FBConnect build, popped in my keys and getting a mysterious hanging error only when I try to post a feed without previewing (setting preview to zero). The activity indicated disappears and the blank dialog window just hangs there. (This mirrors what I was getting on the app I was developing). If I try to post a feed with preview it works; set preview to zero it just hangs. Again; thats with the sample project "Publish Feed" button. Hitting getting permission button and then Publish Feed does same thing...... Other Developers have confirmed seeing this too...Apps that have previously had working feed posts have been broken for weeks. Discussions on facebook connect forum seem to be related to this.   • How do I get Facebook Connect to alert me when people comment on my blog?

    I'm using Facebook Connect's "Comments Box" (http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Comments_Box) to handle comments on my blog. However, there doesn't appear to be an easy way to find out when people comment - ideally I'd like to receive an email whenever it happens, but I'd settle for an RSS feed or similar. Is there an easy way to set this up? Officially as an admin you can enable "notifications" but these are just the passive things that show up when you log on to Facebook itself - I rarely do this, and anyway it doesn't seem to work for anonymous comments.

  • When using the Facebook Connect Actionscript API (no JS, just straight Flash), how can I listen for

    Hey guys, When using the Facebook Connect AS API, the user will be prompted to log in to FB in a pop up window. At this point I want to block interaction in my flash movie and wait for them to complete logging in (or potentially close/cancel and not log in). I have seen examples where people put up a Flex "Alert" box with some hint like "Press ok once you have logged into facebook", but I want to automatically listen for them logging in or canceling/closing the popup window without logging in. Is there an event I can listen for with flash? So far I am using ZERO javascript, but I guess I could add a little if it is needed for this... I definitely want to avoid having some sort of "Press OK" alert box, but instead have the flash application automatically react to the user logging in with the popup window.
