  • Circle values that don't match any of the ones in a dropdown list

    I created a dropdown list with values and assigned them to one of the columns in a table. When I changed a few, then changed the name of items in the list and removed some I accidentally did some key combination somewhere around Ctrl+Z or Ctrl+Y and Excel highlighted cells in the table that had a value not on the list. The highlighting looks like a red oval around each such cell. How can I toggle it on and off?

Since articles may be fairly lengthy I'd ideally like strikethrough and highlighting, similar to github and wikipedia for example.   • Alert user when they hit the browser back button - with good reson

    I know this borders on the taboo here, and please don't reply with "you should never do this etc" I have a very long form in a wizard, some users are too used to using the browsers back and forward buttons that they use those instead of the "Back" and "Next" buttons on the form wizard. If they hit the browsers back button they lose all of their form data which is a pain in the ass, since form is so long. Is it possible to display an alert that when will have a "take me out of here" and a "cancel" button so if they hit cancel it will cancel the function of the back button? Thanks!

  • Performance hit with new hard drive?

    I've recently upgraded my laptop's internal hard drive from a 160GB to 1TB drive. I cloned the drive, then installed it. The general system performance seems appreciably slower. In particular application launches seem to take much longer. Is this possible, or am I just expecting too much from the new drive? It's running a Macbook Pro which is a couple of years old.   • Excel INDIRECT function and conditional formatting - highlighting a row

    I'm having an issue with conditional formatting using the INDIRECT function. I'm doing something similar to Using INDIRECT and AND/IF for conditional formatting , but the only answer there isn't working for me. Basically, I want to highlight rows where B is not blank and F is blank. INDIRECT will work for ONE of the conditions, but = AND(INDIRECT("B"&ROW()) > 0, INDIRECT("F"&ROW()) = "") does not work at all. The answer in the question points to replacing the references with relative ones, so I'm thinking this should work: = AND ($B2 > 0, $F2 = "") But it does not, nor does ISBLANK($F@) or ISEMPTY($F2) (the cell contains a formula that sometimes will return "", I want the row highlighted in these cases but only when something is in column B). Am I missing something about relative references? Why doesn't INDIRECT work with AND/OR?

    So I've got this spreadsheet open using OpenOffice Calc (ver 3.3.0) and its set up a little like this: A B C D 1.name quantity price total 2.foo 10 10 100 3.bar 20 6 120 4.red 30 7 210 Each cell in the "total" column is obtained by multiplying the two cells to the left of it, and what I'm trying to do is to get it so that Calc highlights the highest value in the total column (even better if it could highlight the entire row). I've tried using MAX(D1:D4) in the Conditional Formatting section, but it highlights multiple values. How do I get it to highlight just the highest value?

  • Start Menu freezes when highlighting 'All Programs'

    Hey all, A friends machine is lagging for about 30 seconds when they highlight 'All Programs'. A gray box popus up where the program menu would be, but it doesnt populate for nearly 30 seconds. This seems to happen if he hasn't open the start menu for a bit.. but if he get's it working once, doing it immediatly afterwards will usually not have the same lag. Assuming computer hardware isn't an issue, any ideas what the problem may be? Sidenote: He mentioned making desktop shortcuts is taking long as well, does that give any clues?

However, the thing that is annoying is that this will highlight all occurrences of "search_text" after performing the operation. Is there any way that I could disable the highlight feature when performing this operation?

The only project I was able to find is SmartyPDT, but it's outdated and isn't working with my current Eclipse install (PDT All in one, with Eclipse 3.5). EDIT: I recently found this post asking the same question from a long time ago. But the plugin linked in the accepted answer there is out of date now. Also, can I use PangoCairo to render parts of a layout at a time, so I can draw it in different ways (such as with an outline)?     I am writing an app using PhoneGap for Android in Eclipse. Since the project is an Android project, it's in a Java perspective. For whatever reason, Eclipse won't highlight HTML and JavaScript for me while in an Android/Java project/perspective and switching to the JavaScript perspective doesn't highlight the code either. Without highlighting or debugging tools, the debug process is very slow. How do I tell Eclipse to highlight HTML and JavaScript for me while working in a Java Environment?
