  • Using OpenNMS, how can I disable notifications for a particular service and server

    We are using OpenNMS to monitor a pool of servers, and we have a problem with SMTP in one particular box. OpenNMS is "spamming" us all the time with DOWN/RESOLVED messages for that particular service in that server, and I wanted to mute those notifications momentarely but couldn't find how to do that. I know that I can disable ALL notifications or disable SMTP in ALL servers, but that's not what I want. I'm used to muting a particular service in Nagios, but is it possible in OpenNMS?

  • BIND DNS server (Windows) - Unable to access my local domain from other computers on LAN

    I have a BIND DNS server running on my Windows 7 development machine and I'm serving pages with WAMPSERVER. My ideia is to develop some tools (in PHP) for my intranet at work and I want them to be accessible via LAN in this format: http://tools.mycompany.com I've already placed BIND and I can access http://tools.mycompany.com on the machine that holds BIND server, but I cannot access it from other LAN computers. I've done the following on my router: defined static IP's for all LAN computers set Port Forwarding to my server (remember: it serves DNS and Web pages) set DNS server configuration to point to my LAN server On LAN computers, I went to Local Area Network properties and also changed the DNS server IP in order to point to my local DNS server.     I'm new to regexes and have a file that looks like this one: |60|493,93|1,6500| |60|95,72|1,6500| |60|43,88|1,6500| |60|972,46|1,6500| I used the regex (\|60|.*)(1,65) and I was able to find all the lines that have the information that I wanted to changed. How can I make an replace that when Notepad++ finds (\|60|.*)(1,65), the 60 should be replaced with 50: |50|493,93|1,6500| |50|95,72|1,6500| |50|43,88|1,6500| |50|972,46|1,6500| PS: here's an example of the full line: |C170|002|34067||44,14000|KG|493,93|0|0|020|1102||288,11|12,00|34,57|0|0|0|0|||0|0|0|60|493,93|1,6500|||8,15|60|493,93|7,6000|||37,54||

  • When running Adobe Acrobat's OCR on a PDF document, which downsampling produces a higher quality: 600 dpi or 72 dpi?

    I have a large PDF document that consists of scanned pages of a textbook. I want to run Adobe Acrobat 9's text recognition function on it, but I'm presented with this menu when I do. I'm confused by the options in the highlighted menu. What option will produce the highest quality/most readable text? I thought 600 dpi implies a higher quality image than 72 dpi, so I'm confused by "High (72 dpi)" and "Lowest (600 dpi)."

  • Finding the reason of a force shutdown of a VM

    We have a linux VM running under XenServer that reboots itself with no apparent reason. Checking the /var/log files in Xen we noticed that it's sending a force shutdown to the VM, like this: messages:Dec 6 15:01:07 XenSrvDell2 BLKTAP-DAEMON[7309]: /local/domain/0/backend/tap/19/51728: got start/shutdown watch on /local/domain/0/backend/tap/19/51728/tapdisk-request What we can't find is the reason why the force-shutdown was initiated. Is there any "higher level log" that might tell us who or why triggered the shutdown?

    Hi I think even if we will not need interoperability between applications, and even we do not communicate with web services, it is easier to serialize using SoapFormatter than XmlSerializer because SOAP will serialize the private members by default, while XmlSerializer will work on public properties and fields. actually I cannot find a reason for using XmlSerializer, do I miss something? what is disadvantages of SoapFormatter. or what is advantage of XML serialization over Soap? (xsd) thanks

    Hi this is a discussion between me and me to understand isolated storage issue. can you help me to convince me about isolated storage!! This is a code written in windows form app (reader) that read the isolated storage of another win form app (writer) which is signed. where is the security if the reader can read the writer's file, I thought only signed code can access the file! If all .Net applications born equal and have all permissions to access Isolated storage, where is the security then? If I can install and run Exe from isolated storage, why I don't install a virus and run it, I am trusted to access this area. but the virus or what ever will not be trusted to access the rest of file system, it only can access the memory, and this is dangerous enough. I cannot see any difference between using app data folder to save the state and using isolated storage except a long nasty path!! I want to try give low trust to Reader code and retest, but they said "Isolated storage is actually created for giving low trusted application the right to save its state".     In the project I am working I have deployed a SOAP server using Deployment Descriptors (WSDD) files. To do that a webserver (e.g tomcat, jetty) is started and then the following command is executed: java -cp %AXISCLASSPATH% org.apache.axis.client.AdminClient deploy.wsdd What I need is to skip the above command to avoid a call to the Axis AdminClient. Is it possible to deploy my webservice as war file? Note: A solution with JWS can't be used due to its limitations.

  • WCF service is not responding

    Hi A Flash program is connecting to WCF web service hosted on a server without anti-virus and without firewall and windows server 2003 64 bit environment. The flash return Connection failed message When I sniffer it I found that the Flash program cannot find these requests, http://IP:2805/BLL.svc?xsd=xsd1 http://IP:2805/BLL.svc?xsd=xsd0 The strange thing is that the service work fine with asp.net. also the same service deployed on another server, just work fine!! Is there a work around. Thanks
