  • How can I get the touch screen working on a motion computing m1400

    I picked up a motion computing m1400 for cheap and was successful in getting 11.04 installed on it but have run into trouble getting the touch screen to work. This is one of the older tablet pcs that need a special pen for the touch screen. There are instructions out there for older versions of Ubuntu but they usually rely on a package called wacom-tools that is no longer in the repos. Is there any support for these old tablets or has time passed them by?

This was an developer focused event, starting out with an overview about structure and platform, followed by working code samples running on the platform, and all needed information to get developers started on development for cloud applications. Participants had Q&A opportunities after each session and made good use of it. I am sure that a lot of developers will jump on the Azure train. Azure is on top of my dev project list after that great event! This platform offers endless opportunities for development and businesses.   • python, cluster computing, design help [closed]

    I would like to create my own parallel computing server. Can you please point me to some resources I can use to help me develop my server. Sorry, like I said I need help getting started. Yes, I am limited to python, I cannot use C. I am using a bunch of workstations and I want to use all the cpus in those machines. So what I am looking for is blog posts, books, articles that can help me develop my own client/server tools to send code from the client to the servers and spawn python processes based on the number of cpus. I know how to do the subprocessing/multiprocessing part of the program, I do not know how to create the server that will take the client's requests. I also need to figure out what is the best way to handle sending file data, like netcdf files or other spatial data. Any suggestions very welcome.

Garretón gives an insightful overview of how Java is contributing to the parallelism development and to the Electric VLSI Design Systems, an open source VLSI CAD application used as a research platform for new CAD algorithms as well as the research flow for hardware test chips.  Garretón considers that parallelism programming is hard and complex, yet important developments are taking place.  "With the addition of the concurrent package in Java SE 6 and the Fork/Join feature in Java SE 7, developers have a chance to rely more on existing frameworks and dedicate more time to the essence of their parallel algorithms." I will start writing more blog abound this subject slowly .I am in process to setting up a very nicely distributed and decoupled environment for biztalk .I got my first surprise.I will do more VM Role setup with windows Azure 4.0 .     A colleague of mine challenged me to describe Cloud Computing in words of one syllable so that even his 80-year-old mother-in-law could understand the concept.  Hmmmm...The Cloud lets you do all your work on the Web or on your own net. It lets you set up your own work; no one has to set it up for you.  When you need more disk space, the cloud makes it for you.  When you need more speed, the cloud adds more gear to make your jobs go fast.  You share the cloud with more than just your own work, and you just pay for what you use.  The cloud is not new; this type of work has been done for years; just the word is new.  Now you know what the cloud is.  Or not.

    Hi I am a computer science student currently on an internship and I have been thinking more and more about looking into working for a company / places that is developing quantum computers/ing when I graduate. Here is my problem, I have a pretty solid grasp of mathematics involved in Comp Sci and enjoy learning about more Comp Sci theory but in doing some minor research about Quantum Computing it seems to me to be more about hardware and I have always leant more to the software side of things. I haven't studied any physics since high school so I am wondering if I would be suitable to work in such a field with a Comp Sci degree, is it a field more aimed at physicists?

    I have been hearing about this term for close to 5 years now. I have read about services from Microsoft (Azure), but I have never saw it adopted in the mainstream usage. The thing I am trying to understand is this: What happened to cloud computing? Is the infrastructure at present insufficient to implement this? Is it still in its infancy? Is it being used in other forms, like all the services Google seems to provide (plus Plus Google OS, etc)? If it has failed, then why?
