  • SharePoint 2010: WebPartZone not rendered when i'm not signed in

    Hi all! I have a custom WebPart on my welcome page in SharePoint 2010. When I open the page without signing on, the whole WebPartZone remains unrendered (according to the responded html). When signed in, my WebPart works perfectly. Afaik, my WebPart does not require any special permission, it just pulls content from some lists on the same SharePoint site. Any ideas? thx, M

  • SharePoint 2010 Search not working.

    I have installed and configured SharePoint 2010 to run on the same box as the SQL Server its running from in Windows Server 2008 R2. Everything is working fine except the search. I have uploaded several documents and tagged several items (documents, tasks, announcements etc), however whenever I search the site using the defaul search, i get nothing returned no matter what i search on, I simply get "We did not find any results for [search term]". I know there is setup needed if you wish to use "FAST search", but do I have to do anything to get the standard default search to work?

  • Infopath form publishing and root content type ?

    Hi, I have several infopath 2010 form template that I want to publish to a form library in SharePoint 2010 Server with enterprise CaL. All of this forms have a common part (a template part actually). Is it possible to define a common "parent" content type of this forms ? In fact, I want : Form content type (SP OOB) My root form content type, with standard columns "requester", "process name", etc. Form 1 Form 2 etc. other unrelated form 1 other unrelated form 2 Instead of the standard behavior : Form content type (SP OOB) Form 1 Form 2 other unrelated form 1 other unrelated form 2 etc. Behind this question I want to be able to create a dashboard of all form request using a content query web, by simply specifying the content type ... One last word: the idea is to allow a customer (assuming its knowledge is limited to IP 2010 basic form design). So I can't accept answers like "extract files, use a text editor and hack the xsf file"... thx in advance

    Hello, I need to build out a feature that will let the content authors know if a particular asset (e.g. an Image or a video under site assets library) is being referenced by any content(Pages) in the sharepoint site.   • Issues with SharePoint 2010 Development

    I am planning to use my laptop for SharePoint 2010 development and I have only 4 GB RAM which is not even upgradable. Just because of RAM constraint, my VS 2010 keeps crawling if I try to run it along with SharePoint 2010 on the same machine. Hence, I've reformatted my machine and looking for alternate solutions until I get a new laptop. Currently, I have installed VS 2010 ONLY on my laptop and wanted to create an empty SharePoint project. Once done with my project, I want to deploy it on a different machine (which is a 4GB RAM machine as well, but contains only SharePoint 2010). I thought this will work and give me a bit of breather if everything is configured well. Unfortunately, when I tried creating a new SharePoint Empty Project in VS 2010, it says... A SharePoint server is not installed on this computer. A SharePoint server must be installed to work with SharePoint projects. Is there a way out?

  • Searching via Tags in SharePoint 2010

    Is it possible to search on Tags within SharePoint 2010? I know you can refine your search based on Tag (Search for a keyword, then filter by Tags) and you can use the "Tag Cloud", but that doesnt let you search by more then one Tag. How would I for instance, search for some documents that I have tagged as "Technical" and "Internal", and return all items tagged with both of those tags?

    Visual Studio 2010 has official Extensions for SharePoint 2010, which also includes MSBUILD .targets. I'm setting up a Continuous Integration Server at the moment, and msbuild can't compile my SharePoint projects as these targets are missing. Before I start manually identifying and copying over the SP stuff, I wonder if there is a standalone version so that I don't have to install VS2010 on my CI Server?

    I would like to have this piece of code in my .aspx file: <input class="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" type="button" name="BtnOK" id="Button2" value="Close" onclick="javascript:HandleOKButtonClick()" accesskey="<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>" /> Unfortunately, ASP.net doesn't seem to like that: An error occurred during the processing of /_layouts/MyPage/Info.aspx. Literal expressions like '<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>' are not allowed. Use <asp:Literal runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>" /> instead That doesn't work in this situation as that would mean nesting the Literal between the quotes of the accesskey attribute, which causes a "The tag contains duplicate 'ID' attributes" error. Is there a way to use a string from a resource without having to change the input to an asp:Button? I guess there has to be a way using <%=, but I don't know how I would address the resource itself?

    Is there any way in SharePoint 2010 to get the Distinct values of a property accross all users? For example, I want a list of all Departments in the Profile Store. In SQL I can do SELECT DISTINCT(PropertyVal) FROM [ProfileDB].[dbo].[UserProfileValue] WHERE PropertyID = 14 but accessing the SQL Database is a big no-no of course, so I wonder if there is something in the object model? Note that accessing the User Information List on an SPSite is not good enough, as only a fraction of all users is in that list. I want to get it directly from the Profile Store.

I'm really struggling to find the best practise solution. This is the flow: A user can make a request with a title and a description. A mail gets sent to the representative with a link to a form. A representative can approve or reject the request. If approved: A mail gets sent to Board with a link to form If rejected: A mail gets sent to the user with the message that it has been rejected. when the request was approved by the representative, the board can approve or reject the request. A mail gets sent to the user and the representative with the descision of the board. So the list has the following fields: Request title Request description Representative approval Representative description Board approval Board description The user should see the following form: Request title (editable) Request description (editable) The representative should see the following form: Request title (read-only) Request description (read-only) Representative approval (editable) Representative description (editable) The Board should see the following form: Request title (read-only) Request description (read-only) Representative approval (read-only) Representative description (read-only) Board approval (editable) Board description (editable) My questions: What tool is most appropriate for making the forms? Infopath? SPD? VS2010? How do I handle rights to make sure only the board can access the board edit form? What kind of workflow do I use? When do I start the workflow(s)? What do I use to develop the workflow(s)? How do I handle rights when showing the listview with all requests? How can I build the links in the mails sent to the different groups.   • How do you set the default source for the Output window in Visual Studio?

    We added a SharePoint BDC model project to a solution in Visual Studio 2010. Ever since, whenever the solution is built, instead of showing the Build output in the Output window, it insists on having "SharePoint Tools" selected in the "Show Output from:" drop-down, just to say "Model validation started ... Model validation completed with no errors." Short of shutting off any SharePoint projects in the build configuration, can this behavior be overridden?

  • Content organizer auto create folder has wrong time in sharepoint 2010

    Hi, I have a problem, I am using the content organizer feature to redirect document on upload and the auto create folder feature of it, the property used is a date set by the user when the document gets uploaded. My problem is that when the folder gets created it writes the time set by the user minus two hours, I see that it uses GMT time while everything on the server, the site and the computers is set to UTC+2, so how come it still uses GMT time ? Can someone help me out please. Thank you.
