  • WPF MVVM Trigger Animation on MainWindow close

    I'm using trying to implement MVVM in my app. I have a MainWindow.xaml and a MainWindowViewModel. I'm in the process of removing all of the code-behind code from the MainWindow.xaml but I'm stuck on one final piece. In my pre-MVVM setup I started an animation in the MainWindow.xaml.cs that would fade out the form before closing it. Since Closing is not a RoutedEvent, I had to use code-behind to get this to work. My VM has the following two properties that can be bound: ClosingWindow and CloseWindow. My goal was to bind a DataTrigger in my MainWindowStyle to the ClosingWindow property of the VM. When ClosingWindow was set to True, it would start an animation using the following XAML: <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding ClosingWindow}" Value="True"> <DataTrigger.EnterActions> <BeginStoryboard> <Storyboard> <DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetProperty="Opacity" From="1" To="0" Duration="0:0:2"/> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </DataTrigger.EnterActions> </DataTrigger> Somehow (insert magic here) I was going to set CloseWindow on the VM, via Binding, to True when the animation completed, which would then use an AttachedBehavior to Close the Window. The AttachedBehavior works perfectly when I just set CloseWindow directly using the following XAML: <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding CloseWindow}" Value="True"> <Setter Property="ab:WindowCloseBehavior.Close" Value="True"/> </DataTrigger> ...but I want to reproduce the form fade before the form actually closes. So there are two issues that I've run into: First, the animation doesn't work. I enter the trigger correctly (I've taken out the animation and put a Setter statement in there that changes the Title of the MainWindow to "Closing" and it changes correctly when ClosingWindow = True) but the DoubleAnimation never does anything. Second, there's no way to set the value of CloseWindow once the animation is complete. I looked at Marlon Grech's animation code but that won't work on DataTriggers. I can't publish a RoutedEvent because my VM doesn't descend from UIElement, and I've been Googling all day trying to come up with a clever, MVVM-friendly way to do this with no luck. So any ideas why that animation doesn't do anything? And more importantly, how would you solve the entire problem of animating a form fade on close from the VM? I don't doubt that my entire solution to this problem might be whacked so I'm open to just about anything.

  • What is the best way to slide a panel in WPF?

    I have a fairly simple UserControl that I have made (pardon my Xaml I am just learning WPF) and I want to slide the off the screen. To do so I am animating a translate transform (I also tried making the Panel the child of a canvas and animating the X position with the same results), but the panel moves very jerkily, even on a fairly fast new computer. What is the best way to slide in and out (preferably with KeySplines so that it moves with inertia) without getting the jerkyness. I only have 8 buttons on the panel, so I didn't think it would be too much of a problem. Invalid event name. Any idea why, and how can I fix this?

  • UIWebView in UITableView hide cells

    I have a UIWebView in UITableView, I have this on storyboard: The UIImageView is my future NavBar and the UIWebView is in the UITableView, I have this configuration: -UIImageView -UITableView -UIWebView -UITableViewCell When the UIWebView load the pages (I Have local pages) I want that it takes dynamically their size and for this I have this code: [detailWebView setFrame:CGRectMake(0.,0.,detailWebView.frame.size.width,[[detailWebView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"document.body.scrollHeight;"] intValue])]; The problem is when the loaded page is long, my UIWebBrowser hide the cells and didn't push them to get cells at the bottom. I don't understand why I have this, when I resize the UIWebBrowser in the storyboard I don't have this problem but I want to do it programmatically Thanks,

On click of search button, results are obtained. How do I load the array and redisplay tableview with results in search method. After I loaded the results in array, I tried [self viewdidload];, hoping the cells will be loaded. But didn't. I thought of calling [self.detailView cellForRowAtIndexPath:?indexpath], but dontknow what the value of index path is. Appreciate help from guru's to load the UItableviewcell Thanks

  • in iOS7 how do you stop the First viewcontroller autorotating?

    I have an app that just needs one screen to autorotate, the first and last screens should be portrait. I can get the last screen to stop rotating using: -(NSUInteger)supportedInterfaceOrientations { return UIInterfaceOrientationMaskPortrait; } But this does not work on the first screen, I am using a storyboard with a UINavigationController (I'm thinking that may have something to do with it?)   • For a 1view/scene to 2view/scene app, what application should I choose in Xcode?

    The question may be simple to some others, but I have been struggling with this for a while. The app I want would be like this: first scene/view with two big buttons (no toolbar item), click each one to get into two new scenes. So totally three scenes. In Xcode, what application should I choose? And in storyboard how/should I drag/draw? Thanks. Update: thanks for the link, the big-number-user. I actually read that tutorial before I asked. A little update on what I got so far: 1, I selected "single view", so there's view controller 1 (VC1) in the storyboard. 2, dragged a navigation controller (NC), and move the initial view arrow pointing to NC 3, control-drag to link NC and VC1, selected "relationship segue root view controller" when some small dialog popup.     I want to create a customized (modded) fps game where I can change the look and feel of the game to match my intended theme. Some of the things I would like to do: Create a custom map (terrain). Add custom sound effects Change AI (For example, running away instead of actively looking for combat). Change menus and add some storyboard. Script events in game (like a countdown until game over) Change the models of the NPC's. What options do I have? Is there any platform/game/engine/whatever that allows one to do the things above in a reasonable way? I work as a programmer so I'm not afraid of coding some part of the project, but to save time it would be nice to work in some high-level way (like scripting or configuration files).

    I'm writing a MVVM app and have started putting in a few animations. I want to call something on the ViewModel which starts the a storyboard. This blog had a promising approach to it, but it doesn't actually work. The IDChanged handler never fires for some reason. I also found that you could start animations on EventTriggers, but I don't know how to raise one on the ViewModel.

  • How do I display alternate languages in Interface Builder? (Xcode5)

    The iOS project is using Base Localization with localizable strings set up for the Storyboard in English and German. Everything is working properly when I change the language for the simulator, but some of the text is getting truncated in German. I would like to view the German text in Interface builder so that it's easier to fix the constraints on the text labels and fields. It seems like this should just be a view setting or something, but I can't seem to find anything obvious.

    I've written an Html Helper called DetailsForm to reduce repetition when displaying fields in a view. Within a view - actually a partial view, ascx file - I can refer to it like this: Storyboard.Helpers.DetailsForm.LabelAndData(Html, m => m.id) But would like to refer to it like this: LabelAndData(Html, m => m.id) A 'using' directive doesn't seem to be allowed in the ascx file. Is there an equivalent?

    I have the following Storyboard: 'LayoutMargin' is a dependency property defined in the ancestor Window. This is the problem I'm having: The first time I run the animation it doesn't work - as if the LayoutMargin.Value isn't set. However, the second time I run the animation, and all subsequent times I run the animation, it work just fine. At first I suspected the LayoutMargin.Value was not set prior to the first animation, but it is set. Does anyone have any ideas about why this is happening?

    I've got a dockpanel on my ui as follows; <DockPanel> <Border DockPanel.Dock="Top">Header</Border> <Border DockPanel.Dock="Bottom">My footer</Border> <Border DockPanel.Dock="Left">Menu</Border> <Border>Content</Border> </DockPanel> What I want to do is to have a storyboard animation to show / hide the Menu on the left-hand side. I've got my border to increase the width when it has loaded but I want a way to close / reopen it. I need a button somewhere but I want this to trigger the animation in the border control rather than itself. Ideally I was thinking of something like the Toolbox / Server Explorer in visual studio. Does anyone have any pointers / examples for getting started? Thanks
