  • Tales from the Coal Face - Speeding up a C# compilation

    At one place, I was faced with a C# solution which when XML documentation was turned on, the compilation time increased from 45 seconds to over 8 minutes. This slowdown was unacceptable, however some digging revealed an excellent suggestion by Eric Woodruff at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/devdocs/thread/9bbad4cc-e229-49da-a6f7-3cdf470ac53a/ where he suggested "just suppress the warning by entering it's number (1591 for C#) in the Suppress Warnings field on the Build tab of the project properties". I followed Eric's suggestion and the compilation time went back down to 45 seconds. Now that CS1591 is suppressed how was missing documentation to be found? All that was necessary was to run StyleCop!

En effet, un forum est pratique, mais ne vaut pas un réel système de bug tracker. De plus, le système de points ne reflète pas bien ce genre de participation : en effet les opposants à une suggestion n'hésitent pas à moinsser le message d'origine, faisant donc perdre des points à la personne qui suggère, et de plus un bug rapporté résolu ou une suggestion implémentée ne se traduisait par aucune espèce de récompense au niveau des points. Je trouve ceci anormal en sachant que toute idée certes n'est pas bonne à prendre suivant le contexte, mais que personne ne devrait être pénalisé pour avoir eu une idée.

    I have a community site that sends emails after certain actions like 1) When someone makes a comment 2) When someone does something called "suggest solution" 3) When someone makes a comment in the suggested solution which is different from a regular comment. What I am wondering is what is the best way to make the from field of the email appear? Right now it is something like 1) [email protected] 2) Suggestion[email protected] 3) Suggestion[email protected] But 2 and 3 look so strange when receiving the email. What is the nice and professional way to send these? Thanks!

But one of the suggestion form our team member is, Instead of using GDI+ he asked me to have a web browser control, in that he asked me to display local html.That html page contains customized controls. Form his suggestion I created a web control and used some UI intensive local html pages. That looks good. But my question is, is it is a good idea to use web control to solve this?

I have the following tables in the DB: Activities & Cases and would prefer the format to be "Act000001" or "Cse000001". This would be something similar to the identity column property.     I use solr+django-haystack I set settings.HAYSTACK_INCLUDE_SPELLING = True and rebuild index I'm trying to get any suggestion using: SearchQuerySet().auto_query('tryng ani word her').spelling_suggestion() But I always get None What should I do to get at least one working suggestion ? may be I need add some configuration into solr config or have some specific data indexed ?

  • powertop keeps telling me to turn off the same thing, over and over

    I am running an ubuntu lucid laptop on battery. I want to make my power last as long as possible. Aswell as the normal things like turn down screen brightness, and turn off wifi, I'm using powertop. It will sometimes tell me things, e.g.: Suggestion: Enable USB autosuspend by pressing the U key OK, I press the U key to do that. However a few minutes later it will give me the same suggestion, it's as if it never enabled USB autosuspend the first time. It does this for other things aswell, not just USB autosuspend. e.g. it'll give me this message frequently: An audio device is active 100.0% of the time: hwC0D1 LSI ID 1040 Q - Quit R - Refresh A - Turn HD audio powersave on Is there anything I can do to make these choices 'stick'? Or do I have some unfortunatle hardware that won't obey linux? (If so, is there any way to confirm this?)

    One time I searched for Orange Juice in Chrome's Omnibar. Now, every time I start typing Orange, I get the search suggestion: How do I get Chrome to stop offering me this search suggestion? If I need to edit some config file, I can do that. Please don't post answers if you haven't ensured they work first. (This is intended to prevent people from answering "Press Shift-Delete.") Clarification: I'd prefer a solution in which I can selectively delete entries, not just by time segment. I also prefer a solution that does not involve cancelling any Chrome functionality.

  • Hadoop Rolling Small files

    I am running Hadoop on a project and need a suggestion. Generally by default Hadoop has a "block size" of around 64mb.. There is also a suggestion to not use many/small files.. I am currently having very very very small files being put into HDFS due to the application design of flume.. The problem is, that Hadoop <= 0.20 cannot append to files, whereby i have too many files for my map-reduce to function efficiently.. There must be a correct way to simply roll/merge roughly 100 files into one.. Therefore Hadoop is effectively reading 1 large file instead of 10 Any Suggestions??
