  New Mac OS X Server setup, when i send mail to gmail it goes straight to Spam. Why is that? My setup: DNS - done (A records PTR are ok) Mail Setup - done Webmail - done Also there seems to be a naming problem. They all come from [email protected] instead of [email protected]. I must be missing an alias somewhere. I've read an entire book on setting this up so don't throw stones :) The GUI is masking a lot of this up for me, so explanations via GUI is appreciated.

• IIS Reverse Proxy support for multiple protocols

  I have a server 2012 machine running IIS. It's in my DMZ and I would like to use it to do reverse proxy for several services. I can get it to route traffic on port 80 to 2 separate internal servers running web apps but there are some issues when I try to forward SSH (not port 80/443) and then when I try to forward OWA (Micrsoft exchange's 'webmail' services) to the internal mail server I run in to issues with guides (like this: http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/07/19/reverse-proxy-for-exchange-server-2013-using-iis-arr-part-1.aspx) when they say to have all traffic forwarded to the server farm created for OWA. My question for you all is this - given that there is no more Threat Management Gateway (only runs on server 2008) and ISA 2006 is also dead - is it possible to support multiple types of reverse proxies with different protocols (ftp, ssh, web, ssl-web) in IIS, or would it be better to install a different DMZ OS like a nginx server and use linux firewalls + nginx reverse proxy? • Desktop notifcations for IMAP subfolders in Outlook 2013

  I use Outlook 2013 and an IMAP account for my mails. I have configured several filters (rules) directly in the webmail application of my provider in order to deliver certain mails, e.g., from my boss, into certain folders other then the "inbox". Note that I did not define any rules in Outlook itself and I also do not want to do so (because I want these mails being delivered into the folders not only in Outlook but also on other devices). The problem is that that I receive desktop notifications only for incoming mails in the main folder ("Inbox") but not for mails in any of the other folders.

• Plesk 9 - unable to modify atmail vhost template

  Running into a small issue recently that causes my server's atmail to fail authenticating users. I gathered from a web search that it's because i recently enabled apc on the server. I've found some reference mentioning I need to modify the atmail vhost template, but that reference is for Plesk 10 (i'm on 9). The atmail config isn't in the same spot. I've found this unrelated topic that explains how to modify the vhost settings for atmail on plesk 9, which I have done (adding php_admin_flag apc.enabled off to it). I then recompiled the server config using /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/websrvmng -a but it doesn't seem to pick up the changes. If I look at /etc/httpd/conf.d/zzz_atmail_vhost.conf after recompiling it still doesn't show the apc settings. Summary of steps taken: Modified /etc/psa-webmail/atmail/atmail_vhost.conf and added php_admin_flag register_globals off to the config Recompiled with /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/websrvmng -a Checked /etc/httpd/conf.d/zzz_atmail_vhost.conf But no changes. What am I missing?

• Activesync/OWA Desktop Client

  At my company we have Exchange 2k3 with OWA being public, serving up Activesync and webmail. There is no pop3 or imap support from our admins. Outlook 2k3's RPC over HTTP is also disabled Is there a desktop client that can connect to Activesync or OWA? If my ipod touch can connect to activesync, why can't my pc? I'd preferably like a linux daemon that could simply forward emails to my gmail address, but I guess I'll take what I can get. Thanks EDIT: In case it was not clear, our Exchange server is hidden completely behind a firewall, and a second exchange server has only activesync and https ports opened to the world.

  Hi, I'm moving a web site from one server to another, and am realizing that I need to move the name servers for the domain as well (they are set to the current host, not to the registrar). So, knowing that email services will stop as soon as I switch the DNS, I'm scrambling to figure out how to archive and make available email data for folks that have mostly been using webmail for the past few years, and may not even have a computer on which to install a client to download the mail to. What does one do in this situation? Thanks for any help offered! Evan

• Outgoing email getting stuck in outbox and sent out multiple times.

  I have someone with 3 accounts on Outlook - one of them is giving trouble, in that when sending mail from it, it gets stuck in the outbox, saying it hasn't sent yet. When it finally does send off, he gets reports that about 10 copies have been received. The webmail associated with that account works fine, which means the hosting company (Godaddy) hasn't been helpful in solving this problem. It seems to be an Outlook issue. The other two email accounts (one of which is also a Godaddy email), work normally.

• How do I create email addresses for all my users using my domain ([email protected])?

  My client wants to create email addresses for all their dotnetnuke users using their domain. The point is to keep the user's email addresses 'private' while still allowing communication through a public email address that they can control. It's not necessary to have a full webmail interface (although that would be nice). I'm thinking it would be enough just to forward any mail on and just act as a gateway. So if an email was sent to [email protected], it would be forwarded on to the email address associated with the dotnetnuke account with username 'rwain'. Is this possible to do in a shared hosting environment? Or do I need to create some custom mail server that does a conversion of the email address and forwards it?

• Outlook 2010 - Downloads same messages multiple times when opening

  I run multiple POP mailboxes, and have the 'Leave copy of messages on server' set for 20 days. I have been working like this for several years. However, I have just this week upgraded to Outlook 2010, and for some reason a couple of the mailboxes are downloading all the messages again, each time I open outlook. I have gone through all the settings but I can't see anything obvious, and apart from the upgrade to 2010, I havent touched any settings (2010 imported everything from 2007). I use webmail when away from my PC, hence why I leave a copy of emails on the server. Any ideas? It only downloads when Outlook first opens, thankfully not every time I do a send/receive.

• exim4: multiple domains/IPs

  On my VPS I have 3 IPs which all have their own domain and their own reverse-DNS records. I have a website on each domain, sending emails. The problem is: the emails are rejected by many hosts because the reverse dns doesn't fit the host in the helo. All the emails are sent from the primary IP and therefore only one of the three domains work. I am looking for a way for exim to check which email adress i'm using to send the email and adapt the domain/IP transmitted in the helo. I have already tried many configurations but nothing has worked up to now. Simply changing MX-Records is impossible too, as I recieve (and also send) email via gmail and I don't want to set up my own webmail. Does anyone know a solution?

• How do I start Chrome using a specified "user profile"?

  I use the new built-in "Users" feature of Chrome to switch between Home/Work accounts easily. However, Chrome remembers the "last" user profile you had selected when launching new windows. This is a problem if I close down my "Home" profile last, because when I then click the Email shortcut on my taskbar, because it goes to mail.mycompany.com using my Home profile, and I'm not logged in. I'd like to change the shortcut to the company webmail to pass a switch that tells Chrome to always start as the "Default" user, regardless of the last one used. Note: I have tried user-data-dir, and this seems to do something very different, completely isolated from the Users functionality built in to Chrome. It's possible I'm using it wrong, but please test this before assuming it does the same thing and posting an answer ;-)

• Mavericks: Safari does not login in into web services

  Since when I upgraded ML to Mavericks Safari is no longer able to log me into Facebook. When I go to the login page it suggests me the correct credentials, I hit the Login button, the page refreshes but nothing happens, like if the credentials where empty. Firefox works perfectly, I even logged out and back in to make sure the credentials are the same that Safari suggests, and so they are. Needless to say for a different user on the same Mavericks Safari logs in correctly. The same happens with most web pages that need a login, web mails for instances, I have tow accounts on different webmail providers and none of them works. Of course using the same mail services with POP3 works fine. Even on this very site I cannot post a thing with Safari, I'm going to switch to Firefox to be able to post this question. Again, Firefox or a different user are OK. Do you have any idea/suggestion?

• I can access my company mail on iPhone, but not on a PC/Mac

  On my iPhone (4), I can set up my company e-mail, which allows me to receive and send e-mail and use the calender to manage appointments. The company is using Exchange 2003. The problem is that this is the only way I can access my e-mail when I'm not at the office. I've tried setting up an account on Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2011 (Mac) and the OSX Mail app, but it doesn't work. The server cannot be reached, even though I've used the exact same settings as on the iPhone. The info I use on the iPhone is: Server name of the company mail server (it's the same as for webmail) Use SSL AD Domain of my account My AD account name Password When I enter this on the iPhone, it works like a charm, but whatever I try on one of my desktops, it doesn't work. FYI: I can't ask the company IT guys because according to them, it doesn't work from a remote location, not even on the iPhone (but obviously, that works just fine)

  I previous had both Web and Mail on the same server and for each of my vhosts/domains, I could visit example.com/mail or foo.com/mail which would display the Roundcube Webmail across all vhosts. E.g Alias /mail "/usr/share/apache2/roundcub/" Although now I have moved the Mail server onto a completely different server and now have a SSL for the main domain. https://mail.example.com which is now the new location of Roundcube for all vhosts/domains. Question: is it possible to redirect all alias for "/mail" from the Web server to the new URL?

• Windows xp - recover document opened directly from IE

  Hi Attempting to help a family member recover a document. The word 2007 document was downloaded and opened directly from a webmail interface using Internet Explorer running on Windows XP. The user saved the document multiple times while working on it for the good part of a day. After closing Word 2007 the user is not able to locate the document, and I have so far not been able to help. The computer has not been turned off, and the user has not attempted to open the document directly from the mail again. Recreating the events on vista/windows 7 its easy enough to locate the document under the Temporary Internet Files folder. I have however not been able to do the same on a Windows XP. Any suggestion for how to locate this document, or if its even possible? Thanks

• UID uniqueness of IMAP mails

  In our internal webmail system, we'd like to attach notes and contacts to certain mails. In order to do this, we have to keep track of every mail on our IMAP server. Unfortunately the IMAP standard doesn't enforce the uniqueness of the UID of a mail in a mailbox (just in subfolders). Is there any tool/IMAP server which generates UIDs which are truly unique? Or is there any other way how we can identify each mail? (the Message-ID header field is not unique as some mails do not contain such a field). • Forced to use Outlook Web Access, what are my options?

  My company just enforced an OWA update and disabled IMAP and POP3 access. I don't want to use the webmail, do I have any options? Forwarding is also disabled. I also don't look forward to installing thunderbird or anything else, which is what colleagues are doing. I'd be interested in running some sort of automation script that either forwards the emails, or notifies me somehow that there has been some activity. Disclaimer: This does not concern any illegal activity, as I work at a school. They are not explicitly preventing me from circumventing their bogus security imposition and have given me permission to do so, 'if I can find a way'. Which of course makes me want to do it even more.

• Evoland: A Video Game About Video Game History

  Browser-based Evoland is, hands down, one of the more clever video game concepts to come across our desk. The game itself is a history of video games–as you play the game the game evolves from a limited 8-bit monochrome adventure into a modern game. You start off unable to do anything but move right and collect a treasure chest. That treasure chest unlocks the left key (keys are configured in a WASD style keypad) which in turn allows you to move around a simple monochromatic forest clearing to unlock the rest of the movement keys. From there you begin unlocking more game features, effectively evolving the game from monochrome to 16 and then 64 bit color and unlocking various game play features. The game itself is short and can be played in about the same time you could watch a video covering the basics of various game changes over the last 30 years but actually playing the game and watching the evolution in progress is far more rewarding. The skinny. The Challenge is a modified hackathon, designed to run during OpenWorld and JavaOne (@javaoneconf), and attendees of both conferences are welcome to join and compete for the single prize of $500 in Amazon gift cards. There’s only one prize, so bring your A-game. The Challenge begins Sunday, September 30 at 7 PM and ends Wednesday, October 3 at 4 PM. You can and should register now, but we won’t begin approving  registrations until Sunday at 7 PM.   Printing has become an application aware feature in Metro applications. This makes the outcome of a print job different from application to application, but the question remains, how do you print? Using the Keyboard Not all apps support printing in Windows 8, a good example of one that does is Mail. So fire up the default Mail app select an email you want to print. When you are ready, go ahead and press the ctrl + P keyboard combination. This will bring up a list of available print devices on the right-hand side, you can use the up and down arrows to select a printer. You will get most of the options you are use to when printing, so once you have set up your preferences go ahead and hit the print button. Using the Mouse If you would rather use your mouse, move it to the bottom right hand corner of your screen, which will bring up the Charms bar, from here you will need to click on the devices charm. Using this will list your printers as well as other devices, so make sure you select a printer. That’s all there is to it.
