  • Work time in fullcalendar [Solution]

    - by Zozo
    Full calendar have no included options to work-time feature (selecting first and last rows in agenda view for any day - where in example company is not working). I managed something like that: viewDisplay: function(view){ $.ajax({ url: 'index.php?r=calendar/Default/worktime', dataType: 'json', success: function(data){ if(view.name=='agendaWeek') selectWorkTime(data, 30, 0, 24, false); else if(view.name=='agendaDay') selectDayWorkTime(data, 30, 0, 24, view, false); } }); } Where index.php?r=calendar/Default/worktime is php file returning json. It looks like that: $arr = array( 'mon' => array('8:00', '17:00'), 'tue' => array('9:00', '15:00'), 'wed' => array('9:30', '19:00'), 'thu' => array('6:00', '14:00'), 'fri' => array('0:00', '24:00'), 'sat' => array('9:00', '14:00'), 'sun' => array() ); foreach ($arr as &$day){ foreach($day as &$hour){ $tmp = explode(':', $hour); $hour = $tmp[0] * 3600 + $tmp[1] * 60; } } print json_encode($arr); and at the end, some functions using for counting and selecting work-time: function selectDayWorkTime(timeArray, slotMinutes, minTime, maxTime, viewObject, showAtHolidays){ var dayname; $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek').find('.fc-agenda-body') .children('.fc-work-time').remove(); $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaDay') .find('.fc-work-time-day').removeClass('fc-work-time-day'); switch(viewObject.start.getDay()){ case 1: dayname='mon'; break; case 2: dayname='tue'; break; case 3: dayname='wed'; break; case 4: dayname='thu'; break; case 5: dayname='fri'; break; case 6: dayname='sat'; break; case 0: dayname='sun'; break; } for(var day in timeArray){ if(day == dayname){ if($('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaDay').find('.fc-'+day).attr('class').search('fc-holiday') == -1 || showAtHolidays){ var startBefore = 0; var endBefore = timeArray[day][0] / (60 * slotMinutes) - (minTime * 60) / slotMinutes; var startAfter = timeArray[day][1] / (60 * slotMinutes) - (minTime * 60) / slotMinutes; var endAfter = (maxTime - minTime) * 60 / slotMinutes - 1; for(startBefore; startBefore < endBefore; startBefore++){ $('.fc-view-agendaDay').find('.fc-slot'+startBefore).find('div').addClass('fc-work-time-day'); } for(startAfter; startAfter <= endAfter; startAfter++){ $('.fc-view-agendaDay').find('.fc-slot'+startAfter).find('div').addClass('fc-work-time-day'); } } } } } function selectWorkTime(timeArray, slotMinutes, minTime, maxTime, showAtHolidays){ for(var day in timeArray){ var startBefore = 0; var endBefore = timeArray[day][0] / (60 * slotMinutes) - (minTime * 60) / slotMinutes; var startAfter = timeArray[day][1] / (60 * slotMinutes) - (minTime * 60) / slotMinutes; var endAfter = (maxTime - minTime) * 60 / slotMinutes - 1; if(startBefore > endBefore) endBefore = startBefore; if(startAfter > endAfter) startAfter = endAfter; try{ selectCell(startBefore, endBefore, 'fc-'+day, 'fc-work-time', false, showAtHolidays); selectCell(startAfter, endAfter, 'fc-'+day, 'fc-work-time', true, showAtHolidays); } catch(e){ continue; } } } function selectCell(startRowNo, endRowNo, collClass, cellClass, closeGap, showAtHolidays){ $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek').find('.fc-agenda-body') .children('.'+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass).remove(); $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaDay') .find('.fc-work-time-day').removeClass('fc-work-time-day'); if($('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek').find('.'+collClass).attr('class').search('fc-holiday') == -1 || showAtHolidays){ var width = $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.'+collClass+':last').width(); var height = 0; if(closeGap && (startRowNo != endRowNo)){ height = $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.fc-slot'+ startRowNo).height(); } $('.fc-view-agendaWeek').find('.fc-agenda-body').prepend('<div class="'+cellClass+' ' + ''+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass+'"></div>'); $('.'+cellClass).width(width - 2); height += $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.fc-slot'+ endRowNo).position().top - $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.fc-slot'+ startRowNo).position().top; $('.'+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass).height(height); $('.'+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass) .css('margin-top', $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.fc-slot'+ startRowNo).position().top); $('.'+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass) .css('margin-left', $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.'+collClass+':last').offset().left - width / 2); } } Don't forget about CSS: .fc-work-time-day{ background-color: yellow; opacity: 0.3; filter: alpha(opacity=30); /* for IE */ } .fc-work-time{ position: absolute; background-color: yellow; z-index:10; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-align: left; z-index: 0; opacity: 0.3; filter: alpha(opacity=30); /* for IE */ } So, I've got some questions about - is the other way to make the same, but no using absolute div's in agendaWeek? And... How can I get in viewDisplay function actual slotMinutes, minTime and maxTime

  • asp.net mvc stand alone ascx control how do i link (css and js) most efficiently

    - by Julian
Hi, I need some advice. I have developed some asp.net mvc web pages. Each page has a master and some ascx controls (between 2 - 6) embedded into it a js and css file. Up to now every thing was fine. In order to improve modularity, flexibility and testability the ascx's are now expected to be able to work as stand alone controls. (Each ascx has also got its own css and js files in some cases it has another control inside it) In order to meet this requirement we call the controller with the relevant parameters and it returns the ascx (partial) directly to the browser without all of the other parts of the original page . In order to get it to display correctly (css) and act correctly (js/jquery) all of the relevant files need to be added (as links or scripts eg. href="<%= ResolveUrl(styleSheet)%>") to the user control. This is "contradicting" the concept of positioning the files at the most logical place (could be the master page for example). How can I overcome this problem? Keep in mind that this is relevant for each "control" ascx file. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

  • Joining remote paths in Java

    - by Mickael Marrache
I'm using the FTP library provided by Apache (commons-net). I want to check if a file exists on the FTP server so I use the listFiles method of FTPClient: ftpClient.listFiles(remoteFileDir + "\\" + fileName); The current directory is the FTP server root directory. So, the value of remoteFileDir is a path relative to this root directory. My question concerns the merge between the remote directory path and the file name. What is the right way to do it? For a local file, I would do: File file = new File(remoteFileDir,fileName); but here it doesn't work since when I call file.getAbsolutePath(), I get an absolute path for the file in the local current directory which is not what I want. Also, I guess the merging has been done according to my local environment. PS: I looked at How are paths determined on a remote machines? but it doesn't help me. Thanks

  • performSelector:withObject:afterDelay: not working from scrollViewDidZoom

    - by oldbeamer
Hi all, I feel like I should know this but I've been stumped for hours now and I've run out of ideas. The theory is simple, the user manipulates the zoom and positioning in a scrollview using a pinch. If they hold that pinch for a short period of time then the scrollview records the zoom level and content offsets. So I thought I'd start a performSelector:withObject:withDelay on the scrollViewDidZoom delegate method. If it expires then I record the settings. I delete the scheduled call every time scrollViewDidZoom is called and when the pinch gesture finishes. This is what I have: - (void)scrollViewDidZoom:(UIScrollView *)scrollView{ NSLog(@"resetting timer"); [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self selector:@selector(positionLock) object:nil]; [self performSelector:@selector(positionLock) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.4]; } -(void)positionLock{ NSLog(@"position locked "); } - (void)scrollViewDidEndZooming:(UIScrollView *)scrollView withView:(UIView *)view atScale:(float)scale{ NSLog(@"deleting timer"); [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self selector:@selector(positionLock) object:nil]; } This is the output: 2010-05-19 22:43:01.931 resetting timer 2010-05-19 22:43:01.964 resetting timer 2010-05-19 22:43:02.231 resetting timer 2010-05-19 22:43:02.253 resetting timer 2010-05-19 22:43:02.269 resetting timer 2010-05-19 22:43:02.298 resetting timer 2010-05-19 22:43:05.399 deleting timer As you can see the delay between the last and second last events should have been more than enough for the delayed selector call to execute. If I replace performSelector:withObject:withDelay with plain old performSelector: I get this: 2010-05-19 23:08:30.333 resetting timer 2010-05-19 23:08:30.333 position locked 2010-05-19 23:08:30.366 resetting timer 2010-05-19 23:08:30.367 position locked 2010-05-19 23:08:30.688 deleting timer Which isn't what I want but serves to show that it's only the delay that's causing it to not function, not something to do with the selector not being declared in the header, being misspelt or any other reason. Any ideas as to why it's not working?

  • Layout Bug in IE (div relative)

    - by Florian
Hi, I have a problem with IE (all versions). I have a header div with a relative position and inside this another div with absolute position and right alignment. <div id="header" style="position: relative; width: 1000px; height: 60px;"> content http://stadtwerke-bitburg.de/fileadmin/overflow_prob_IE.png Now when I open the pulldown menu in FF/Safari/Opera everything is all right. Whereas in IE everything which is taller than 60px disappears behind my header div. Is there a workaround for this problem with CSS or do I have to write javascript to get this fixed? thx TC

  • Cross browser (chrome/firefox) trying to get top-pos defined in percentage as pixels

    - by Cinaird
I have a problem whit cross browser output, I'm trying to get the top and left css attribute of a div, but firefox gives me the exact pixel position and Chrome give me the percentage. Example: http://web.cinaird.se/pdf/test.htm CSS #mix{ position:absolute; top: 10px; left: 45%; background-color:#f0f; } jQuery css top: " + $("#mix").css("top") + " <br/>css left: " + $("#mix").css("left") Output Firefox (and IE8): css top: 10px css left: 267.3px Chrome: css top: 10px css left: 45% is there any way to get the same result for both (all) browsers? I would prefer to get a pixel value without any major calculation

  • Remove empty subfolders with PHP

    - by Dmitry Letano
I am working on a PHP function that will recursively remove all sub-folders that contain no files starting from a given absolute path. Here is the code developed so far: function RemoveEmptySubFolders($starting_from_path) { // Returns true if the folder contains no files function IsEmptyFolder($folder) { return (count(array_diff(glob($folder.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR."*"), Array(".", ".."))) == 0); } // Cycles thorugh the subfolders of $from_path and // returns true if at least one empty folder has been removed function DoRemoveEmptyFolders($from_path) { if(IsEmptyFolder($from_path)) { rmdir($from_path); return true; } else { $Dirs = glob($from_path.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR."*", GLOB_ONLYDIR); $ret = false; foreach($Dirs as $path) { $res = DoRemoveEmptyFolders($path); $ret = $ret ? $ret : $res; } return $ret; } } while (DoRemoveEmptyFolders($starting_from_path)) {} } As per my tests this function works, though I would be very delighted to see any ideas for better performing code.

  • Most useful Python modules from the standard library?

    - by EOL
I am teaching a graduate level Python class at the University of Paris, and the students need to be introduced to the standard library. I want to discuss with them about some of the most important standard modules. What modules do you think are absolute musts? Even though responses probably vary depending on your field (web programming, science, etc.), I feel that some modules are commonly needed: math, sys, re, os, os.path, logging,… and maybe: collections, struct,… What modules would you suggest I present, in a 1 or 2 hour slot?

  • Trying to create scrolling horizontal thumbnail navigation that hides on left side when not in use

    - by user346602
    Hi, I am trying recreate the following type of scrolling thumbnail navigation as described in the following tutorial: http://tympanus.net/codrops/2010/05/10/scrollable-thumbs-menu/ I require my thumbs to slide out horizontally from the left. I have amended the code to the best of my abilities, but I can't get it to work. (Think the problem is in the top third of the jquery). Here is what I have to date: HTML <ul class="menu" id="menu"> <li> <a href="#"></a> <div class="sc_menu_wrapper"> <div class="sc_menu"> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/1.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/2.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/3.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/4.jpg" alt=""/></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/gallery/5.jpg" alt=""/></a> </div> </div> </li> </ul> CSS /* Navigation Style */ ul.menu{ position: fixed; top: 0px; left:0px; width: 100%; } ul.menu li{ position:relative; width: 100% } ul.menu li > a{ position:absolute; top:300px; left:0px; width:40px; height:200px; background-color:#e7e7e8; } /* Thumb Scrolling Style */ div.sc_menu_wrapper { position: absolute; right: 0px; height: 220px; overflow: hidden; top: 300px; left:0px; visibility:hidden; } div.sc_menu { height: 200px; visibility:hidden; } .sc_menu a { display: block; background-color:#e7e7e8; } .sc_menu img { display: block; border: none; opacity:0.3; filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=30); } JQUERY $(function(){ // function to make the thumbs menu scrollable function buildThumbs($elem){ var $wrapper = $elem.next(); var $menu = $wrapper.find('.sc_menu'); var inactiveMargin = 220; // move the scroll down to the beggining (move as much as the height of the menu) $wrapper.scrollRight($menu.outerHeight()); //when moving the mouse up or down, the wrapper moves (scrolls) up or down $wrapper.bind('mousemove',function(e){ var wrapperWidth = $wrapper.width(); var menuWidth = $menu.outerWidth() + 2 * inactiveMargin; var top = (e.pageX - $wrapper.offset().right) * (menuWidth - wrapperWidth) / wrapperWidth - inactiveMargin; $wrapper.scrollRight(right+10); }); } var stacktime; $('#menu li > a').bind('mouseover',function () { var $this = $(this); buildThumbs($this); var pos = $this.next().find('a').size(); var f = function(){ if(pos==0) clearTimeout(stacktime); $this.next().find('a:nth-child('+pos+')').css('visibility','visible'); --pos; }; // each thumb will appear with a delay stacktime = setInterval(f , 50); }); /// on mouseleave of the whole <li> the scrollable area is hidden $('#menu li').bind('mouseleave',function () { var $this = $(this); clearTimeout(stacktime); $this.find('.sc_menu').css('visibility','hidden').find('a').css('visibility','hidden'); $this.find('.sc_menu_wrapper').css('visibility','hidden'); }); // when hovering a thumb, change its opacity $('.sc_menu a').hover( function () { var $this = $(this); $this.find('img') .stop() .animate({'opacity':'1.0'},400); }, function () { var $this = $(this); $this.find('img') .stop() .animate({'opacity':'0.3'},400); } ); }); Wondering if some eagle eye might be able to point out where I am going wrong. As my knowledge of JQuery is limited, I'm guessing it is in there. I really appreciate anyone taking the time to look this over. Thank you!

  • Sticky Footers that move down when dynamic content gets loaded

    - by Dominic Rodger
I've been using this snippet of jQuery to get a sticky footer: if($(document.body).height() < $(window).height()){ $("#footer").css({position: "absolute",top:($(window).scrollTop()+$(window).height()-$("#footer").height())+"px", width: "100%"}); } $(window).scroll(positionFooter).resize(positionFooter); However, that breaks when I've got expandable/collapsible divs lying around where the original content was less high than the window, since it is then stuck to the bottom of the window, rather than the bottom of the document. Is there a way of fixing this, or a better way of doing it? Please bear in mind that I don't have much control over the HTML, since I need to do this in Django's admin interface, which doesn't allow much injection of HTML in the places you might want to to accomplish this sort of thing (i.e. this answer and this answer don't work for me).

  • Python `.pth` files and using relative paths

    - by kRON
I have a lot of development versions of packages installed with virtualenv under the default /src directory in the environment. Normally, I decided to do the development of my project under the /src directory afterwards. To add my directory to the Python path, I decided to eschew from using any absolute paths, since I'm going to have to move the project around with my friends. It's a Django application, so I was happy with putting environment.pth under the root that contained the path to my project and a wsgi in the same directory would call the sites module to parse environment.pth. All good. I was also looking to move the .pth file into site-packages, but I'm having trouble with relative paths that move up the directory tree. For: /env /lib /site-pacakges /src /myproject So, the .pth entry in site-packages to myproject should look like ../../src/myproject, but this doesn't seem to be working for me on Windows.

  • I can't use dashes in XPATH on iphone using libxml2

    - by user249488
I'm trying to parse HTML data using KissXML for iphone. I've noticed that I can't have dashes in the id() tag, otherwise it won't evaluate. For example, if I'm trying to get the element at I would do id("foo") However, if I try to get at element , and I try id("foo-bar") the libxml2 XPATH engine doesn't seem to return anything. It works using the XPATH check for firefox, though. Anyone run into this issue and know of a reason why it's happening or have a workaround (besides using the absolute XPATH path?)

  • How to access a list in OCaml

    - by Erik
I want to write a function that could check every item in a list is true or false. If at least one element is false, it will return true, so that: assert_eq "checkFalse [true; false; true]" (checkFalse [true; true; true]) false; assert_eq "checkFalse [false; false]" (checkFalse [false; true]) true; I am an absolute beginner in OCaml and I don't know how to approach this. I tried using a for loop, something like: let rec checkFalse (bools: bool list) : bool = for i = 0 to bools.length do if bools.length == false then false else... (I don't know how to continue) Then it said "Unbound record field...." I also tried using find like: if (find false bools != Not_found) then true else false But my ways did not work. I came from a Java background. Thank you very much!

  • Changing the HTML of CKEditor form elements (in the dialog window)

    - by Kenny Meyers
I'm trying to modify the HTML of the dialog boxes in CKEditor. The HTML inside each of those boxes is an absolute nightmare, and even worse, the source code is compressed and it's unclear what the path of execution is. I want to take something like this: <div class="cke_dialog_ui_select" id="44_uiElement" role="presentation"><label style="" for="42_select" id="43_label" class="cke_dialog_ui_labeled_label">Link Type</label><div role="presentation" class="cke_dialog_ui_labeled_content"><select aria-labelledby="43_label" class="cke_dialog_ui_input_select" id="42_select"><option value="url"> URL</option><option value="anchor"> Link to anchor in the text</option><option value="email"> E-mail</option></select></div></div> and turn it into something more legible and easier to style, removing one of the divs. These are for the Image and Anchor dialog boxes (Modal dialogues) respectively. Thanks for your help.

  • Fullscreen image with jquery on window resize?

    - by lauthiamkok
    I am trying to make fullscreen images with jquery when the window resize function is triggered. But I get this kind of result - where you can see a gap at the bottom of the image which I don't know how to fix it. the basic html, <!-- container --> <div id="container" class="container"> <div class="holder-supersize" id="supersize"> <ul class="background-supersize"> <li><a href="#"><img src="styles/images/IMG_0250.jpg" alt="" width="1000" height="667" /></a></li> <li><a href="#"><img src="styles/images/IMG_0255.jpg" alt="" width="667" height="1000" /></a></li> <li class="active"><a href="#"><img src="styles/images/IMG_0323.jpg" alt="" width="1158" height="772" /></a></li> </ul> </div> </div> <!-- container --> jquery for updating image size on window resize, $(document).ready(function(){ $(window).resize(function(){ $(".holder-supersize").each(function() { //Define image ratio & minimum dimensions var minwidth = .5*(640); var minheight = .5*(480); var ratio = 480/640; //Gather browser and current image size var imagewidth = $(this).width(); var imageheight = $(this).height(); var browserwidth = $(window).width(); var browserheight = $(window).height(); //Check for minimum dimensions if ((browserheight < minheight) && (browserwidth < minwidth)){ $(this).height(minheight); $(this).width(minwidth); } else { //When browser is taller if (browserheight > browserwidth){ imageheight = browserheight; $(this).height(browserheight); imagewidth = browserheight/ratio; $(this).width(imagewidth); if (browserwidth > imagewidth){ imagewidth = browserwidth; $(this).width(browserwidth); imageheight = browserwidth * ratio; $(this).height(imageheight); } } //When browser is wider if (browserwidth >= browserheight){ imagewidth = browserwidth; $(this).width(browserwidth); imageheight = browserwidth * ratio; $(this).height(imageheight); if (browserheight > imageheight){ imageheight = browserheight; $(this).height(browserheight); imagewidth = browserheight/ratio; $(this).width(imagewidth); } } } return false; }); }); }); CSS for supersize image /* Supersize -------------------------------------------*/ .holder-supersize { width:100%; height:100%; position:absolute; left:0; top:0; z-index:0; } .background-supersize { width:100%; height:100%; overflow:hidden; position:relative; } .background-supersize li { width:100%; height:100%; overflow:hidden; position:absolute; left:0; top:0; text-align:center; } .background-supersize li img { /* for image with height < width */ /**/ width:100%; height:auto; /* for image with height > width */ /* width:auto; height:100%; */ } .background-supersize li , .background-supersize a, .background-supersize img{ display:none; } .background-supersize .active, .background-supersize .active a, .background-supersize .active img{ display:inline; } This is the link at jsfiddle and this is the link to see the actual product.   • How do I perform a flip and grow animation like in iPhoto 09?

    - by Austin
I'm developing a Cocoa application and want to be able to click a button in one of the views in my NSCollectionView and have a details view flip open and position to the middle of the screen like it does in iPhoto 09 when you click the "i" in the bottom-right hand corner of a photo. The photo "flips" and grows, centered on the window to reveal details about the photo. I'm guessing they're using Core Animation to achieve this. I've been looking at the Lemur Flip example, but when I try to modify it to add repositioning code to the animation, it throws off the flip. Here is the positioning code I've added to the - (IBAction)flip:(id)sender; code of LemurFlip: ... [CATransaction begin]; { NSSize supersize = contentView.frame.size; // Size of window content view NSSize subsize = frontView.frame.size; // Size of view we're flipping out if(!frontView.isHidden) { // Move views to middle of the window [[backView animator] setFrameOrigin:NSMakePoint((supersize.width / 2) - (subsize.width / 2), (supersize.height / 2) - (subsize.height / 2))]; [[frontView animator] setFrameOrigin:NSMakePoint((supersize.width / 2) - (subsize.width / 2), (supersize.height / 2) - (subsize.height / 2))]; } else { // Return views to point of origin [[backView animator] setFrameOrigin:NSMakePoint(0, 0)]; [[frontView animator] setFrameOrigin:NSMakePoint(0, 0)]; } [hiddenLayer addAnimation:[self _flipAnimationWithDuration:flipDuration isFront:NO] forKey:@"flipGroup"]; [visibleLayer addAnimation:[self _flipAnimationWithDuration:flipDuration isFront:YES] forKey:@"flipGroup"]; } [CATransaction commit]; ... Is there a good example of how to do this or some rules for combining these sort of animations?

  • How to pop Toolwindow in a defined position

    - by Enmanuel
Hi everyone. Im trying to integrate a toolwindow in a Winforms application, it will be a tiny floating window to display element details in a listbox. What I need is pop the window in a relative position to the control that triggers the action, so here is the thing: the Location property gives me the relative position of the control from its container (the main form in this case) so this is the workaround im using: public void Show(kTextBox source) { Point absCoord = source.PointToScreen(source.Location); this.Location = this.PointToClient(absCoord); base.Show(); } Basically this is: get the absolute control position and set this position (previously converted into owner relative) to the toolwindow. I think it should work just fine but is missing for a certain degree, and it varies depending what control i use. Its kinda confusing. Been there anyone?? Thanks in advance.

  • What makes good web form styling for business applications?

    - by ProfK
Styling forms (form elements) is something that even Eric Meyer prefers to avoid. However, most business forms, and that is where styling is at issue; 'contact us' forms are easy to style, put window estate at a premium, with more 'document level' (e.g. invoice) fields, plus 'detail level' (e.g. invoice line) fields. Factors I often find at play are: At my minimum, at least two horizontally adjacent fieldsets are required. In applications vs. public web pages, fixed positioning vs fluid layout is often better. Quantity of content is important, vs. exaggerated readability. Users know the system, and cues etc. take a back seat. In light of factors like these, is there any available guidence for styling web form based applications? Are there any CSS or JavaScript frameworks that would make my quest to style these applications better than Visual Studios still pathetic 'Auto-format' (what drugs were those people on? I will never take them.)

I'm utilizing the code posted by Jesper Palm here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/280891/make-user-control-display-outside-of-form-boundry /// <summary> /// A simple popup window that can host any System.Windows.Forms.Control /// </summary> public class PopupWindow : System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown { private System.Windows.Forms.Control _content; private System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripControlHost _host; public PopupWindow(System.Windows.Forms.Control content) { //Basic setup... this.AutoSize = false; this.DoubleBuffered = true; this.ResizeRedraw = true; this._content = content; this._host = new System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripControlHost(content); //Positioning and Sizing this.MinimumSize = content.MinimumSize; this.MaximumSize = content.Size; this.Size = content.Size; content.Location = Point.Empty; //Add the host to the list this.Items.Add(this._host); } } I've translated it to VB: Public Class PopupWindow Inherits System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown Private _content As System.Windows.Forms.Control Private _host As System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripControlHost Public Sub New(ByVal content As System.Windows.Forms.Control) Me.AutoSize = False Me.DoubleBuffered = True Me.ResizeRedraw = True Me._content = content Me._host = New System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripControlHost(content) Me.MinimumSize = content.MinimumSize Me.MaximumSize = content.MaximumSize Me.Size = content.Size content.Location = Point.Empty Me.Items.Add(Me._host) End Sub End Class It works great with a PictureBox showing its information. But for some reason I cannot get the DataGridView to display anything when it is in the popup. If I pull the grid out of the popup it displays all of its information fine. If I pause during debug, the grid shows that it has all the data in it. It's just not displaying anything. Does anybody have any ideas?

  • how is this jquery app validating the username? (3rd party script)

    - by SarmenHB
The tutorial that I'm trying to figure out is this: http://www.position-absolute.com/articles/jquery-form-validator-because-form-validation-is-a-mess/ The username field looks like this: <input value="" class="validate[required,custom[noSpecialCaracters],length[0,20],ajax[ajaxUser]]" type="text" name="user" id="user" /> That <input> field has a class item named ajax[ajaxUser] which has its rules contained in this script (jquery.validationEngine-en.js). The snippet for that item looks like this: "ajaxUser":{ "file":"validateUser.php", "extraData":"name=eric", "alertTextOk":"* This user is available", "alertTextLoad":"* Loading, please wait", "alertText":"* This user is already taken"}, What I can't figure out at all is how its PHP page is working which is validateUser.php. Where are all those post fields coming from? I looked around and can't find a field with those names. Thanks

  • Why not put all braces inline in C++/C#/Java/javascript etc.?

    - by DanM
Of all the conventions out there for positioning braces in C++, C#, Java, etc., I don't think I've ever seen anyone try to propose something like this: public void SomeMethod(int someInput, string someOtherInput) { if (someInput > 5) { var addedNumber = someInput + 5; var subtractedNumber = someInput - 5; } else { var addedNumber = someInput + 10; var subtractedNumber = someInput; } } public void SomeOtherMethod(int someInput, string someOtherInput( { ... } But why not? I'm sure it would take some getting used to, but I personally don't have any difficulty following what's going on here. I believe indentation is the dominant factor in being able to see how code is organized into blocks and sub-blocks. Braces are just visual noise to me. They are these ugly things that take up lines where I don't want them. Maybe I just feel that way because I was weened on basic (and later VB), but I just don't like braces taking up lines. If I want a gap between blocks, I can always add an empty line, but I don't like being forced to have gaps simply because the convention says the closing brace needs to be on its own line. I made this a community wiki because I realize this is not a question with a defined answer. I'm just curious what people think. I know that no one does this currently (at least, not that I've seen), and I know that the auto-formatter in my IDE doesn't support it, but are there are any other solid reasons not to format code this way, assuming you are working with a modern IDE that color codes and auto-indents? Are there scenarios where it will become a readability nightmare? Better yet, are you aware of any research on this?

  • How do I toggle CSS with jQuery?

    - by marcamillion
I have the following code: $('#bc' + $.trim($this) + ' span.dashed-circle').css({ 'border' : '5px solid #000'}); That is triggered by a click.function(). I would like that to be a toggle - so when I click the element, it changes the border to what I have above...but when it is clicked again it disappears or rather sets the border to ' '. Thoughts? Edit: I should have been explicit...but I don't want to create a CSS class. The reason being is because when I do that, it messes up the formatting of the element being styled. I am sure that it is some small quirk somewhere that would fix it, but I am not interested in wading through the entire code base to fix little positioning issues with a new class. I would much rather just edit the css attribute directly - because it doesn't interfere with the layout. Edit2: Here is the jsfiddle of the code I am trying to edit. If you notice, I have the CSS attributes last. But how do I let that be toggled ? Edit3: If anyone is interested...the UI that this will be used in is for my webapp - http://www.compversions.com

  • Check if CSS Class exists in StyleSheet using javascript/jQuery

    - by Akhil Sekharan
Is there a way to check if there is a class named 'some-class-name' in css? For example, I have: <style type="text/css"> .box { position: absolute; left: 150%; } </style> My intention is to randomly assign a class to a div on certain event: var classList = []; //Need to populate this array $('#updateClass').on('click', function() { $('#resultDiv').attr('class',classList[Math.floor((Math.random()*classList.length)+1)]); }); Is it possible to check by JS/jQuery whether a class named 'box' exists in the stylesheet? Thanks.

  • JApplet behaving unexpectedly

    - by JohnW
import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Image; import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; import java.awt.event.ActionListener; import javax.swing.JApplet; import javax.swing.Timer; public class CountingSheep extends JApplet { private Image sheepImage; private Image backgroundImage; private GameBoard gameBoard; private scoreBoard scoreBoard; public void init() { loadImages(); gameBoard = new GameBoard(sheepImage, backgroundImage); scoreBoard = new scoreBoard(); getContentPane().add(gameBoard); getContentPane().add(scoreBoard); } public void loadImages() { sheepImage = getImage(getDocumentBase(), "sheep.png"); backgroundImage = getImage(getDocumentBase(), "bg.jpg"); } } Update guys: Alright, first of all, thank you very much for all the help you've given so far (specifically creemam and Hovercraft Full of Eels), and your persistence. You've helped me out a lot as this is incredibly important (i.e. me passing my degree). The problem now is: The program works correctly when nothing but the GameBoard class is added to the JApplet, however, when I try to add the ScoreBoard class, both Panel classes do not show on the Applet. I'm guessing this is now down to positioning? Any ideas? EDIT: Gone back to the previously asked question Hovercraft, and found it was due to the layout of the contentPane and the order at with the components were added. Thanks to all of you so much. People like you make the development community a bit of alright.

  • Animate rotating SVG element on webpage

    - by Zarkonnen
So I have an SVG file created in Inkscape embedded in a webpage, and I'd like it to rotate slowly. I've tried using Javascript and inserting animation commands directly into the SVG, but nothing works. I don't want to load in an entire JS library for this one task. This is what I have so far: <html> <body bgcolor="#333333"> <embed src="gear.svg" id="gear" width="1000" height="1000" style="position: absolute; top: -500px; left: -500px;" /> <script type="text/javascript"> var gear = document.getElementById("gear"); window.setInterval(function() { // Somehow animate the gear. }, 10); </script> </body> </html>
