  • A feature rich JavaScript IDE environment?

    - by jdk
I'm currently using Visual Studio 2008 to edit .js files with, and it has decent support but I want more... I like the VS syntax highlighting and auto-indentation features but additionally would like advanced features like: contextual info and help, collapsible JavaScript blocks, implicit symbol understanding for searching, refactoring and that kind of thing; also warnings and errors for the js code. Suggestions?

    - by Savvas
So if I try sending an email with action mailer directly, I can use all application helpers like url_for, content_for etc, but when I try to do the exact same action [sending email] with delayed_job [send_later] I getting a delayed job fail, of undefined function content_for etc, so it is like no helpers are loaded in my ActionMailer. • TThread.resume is deprecated in Delphi-2010 what should be used in place?

    - by Charles Faiga
In my multithread application I use TThread.suspend and TThread.resume Since moving my application to Delphi 2010 I get the following warring message [DCC Warning] xxx.pas(277): W1000 Symbol ‘Resume’ is deprecated If Resume is deprecated what should be used in place? EDIT 1: I use the Resume command to start the thread - as it is Created with 'CreateSuspended' set to True and Suspend before I terminate the thread. EDIT 2: Here is a link the delphi 2010 manual

  • M-V-VM, isn't the Model leaking into the View?

    - by BFree
The point of M-V-VM as we all know is about speraration of concerns. In patterns like MVVM, MVC or MVP, the main purpose is to decouple the View from the Data thereby building more flexible components. I'll demonstrate first a very common scenario found in many WPF apps, and then I'll make my point: Say we have some StockQuote application that streams a bunch of quotes and displays them on screen. Typically, you'd have this: StockQuote.cs : (Model) public class StockQuote { public string Symbol { get; set; } public double Price { get; set; } } StockQuoteViewModel.cs : (ViewModel) public class StockQuoteViewModel { private ObservableCollection<StockQuote> _quotes = new ObservableCollection<StockQuote>(); public ObservableCollection<StockQuote> Quotes { get { return _quotes; } } } StockQuoteView.xaml (View) <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:WpfApplication1" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Window.DataContext> <local:StockQuoteViewModel/> </Window.DataContext> <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="listBoxDateTemplate"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Symbol}"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Price}"/> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> <Grid> <ListBox ItemTemplate="{StaticResource listBoxDateTemplate}" ItemsSource="{Binding Quotes}"/> </Grid> </Window> And then you'd have some kind of service that would feed the ObservableCollection with new StockQuotes. My question is this: In this type of scenario, the StockQuote is considered the Model, and we're exposing that to the View through the ViewModel's ObservableCollection. Which basically means, our View has knowledge of the Model. Doesn't that violate the whole paradigm of M-V-VM? Or am I missing something here....?

  • Is there a convention, when using Java RMI, to use the dollar sign $ in a variable name?

    - by Thomas Owens
I realize that it is a valid part of a variable name, but I've never seen variable names actually use the symbol $ before. The Java tutorial says this: Additionally, the dollar sign character, by convention, is never used at all. You may find some situations where auto-generated names will contain the dollar sign, but your variable names should always avoid using it. However, since this is geared toward Java beginners, I'm wondering if in the distributed world, the $ lives on with a special meaning.

  • Rails Joins and include columns from joins table

    - by seth.vargo
    I don't understand how to get the columns I want from rails. I have two models - A User and a Profile. A User :has_many Profile (because users can revert back to an earlier version of their profile): > DESCRIBE users; +----------------+--------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +----------------+--------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | id | int(11) | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | username | varchar(255) | NO | UNI | NULL | | | password | varchar(255) | NO | | NULL | | | last_login | datetime | YES | | NULL | | +----------------+--------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+   > DESCRIBE profiles; +----------------+--------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +----------------+--------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | id | int(11) | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | user_id | int(11) | NO | MUL | NULL | | | first_name | varchar(255) | NO | | NULL | | | last_name | varchar(255) | NO | | NULL | | | . . . . . . | | . . . . . . | | . . . . . . | +----------------+--------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ In SQL, I can run the query: > SELECT * FROM profiles JOIN users ON profiles.user_id = users.id LIMIT 1; +----+-----------+----------+---------------------+---------+---------------+-----+ | id | username | password | last_login | user_id | first_name | ... | +----+-----------+----------+---------------------+---------+---------------+-----+ | 1 | john | ****** | 2010-12-30 18:04:28 | 1 | John | ... | +----+-----------+----------+---------------------+---------+---------------+-----+ See how I get all the columns for BOTH tables JOINED together? However, when I run this same query in Rails, I don't get all the columns I want - I only get those from Profile: # in rails console >> p = Profile.joins(:user).limit(1) >> [#<Profile ...>] >> p.first_name >> NoMethodError: undefined method `first_name' for #<ActiveRecord::Relation:0x102b521d0> from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-3.0.1/lib/active_record/relation.rb:373:in `method_missing' from (irb):8 # I do NOT want to do this (AKA I do NOT want to use "includes") >> p.user >> NoMethodError: undefined method `user' for #<ActiveRecord::Relation:0x102b521d0> from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-3.0.1/lib/active_record/relation.rb:373:in method_missing' from (irb):9 I want to (efficiently) return an object that has all the properties of Profile and User together. I don't want to :include the user because it doesn't make sense. The user should always be part of the most recent profile as if they were fields within the Profile model. How do I accomplish this?

  • groovyx.net.ws.WSClient is having problems with ''soapenc:Array' Any workaround?

    - by ?????
I'm trying to call a webservice (implemented with a .NET/ASP system) from groovy/grails using WSClient. I have no trouble accessing this service using the SOAPClient debugger (Todd Ditchendorf's program for OSX), but when i try it via groovy/grails, I get the error undefined simple or complex type 'soapenc:Array' Is there any solution? Looking at it with wireshark: It seems to have thrown this error even before it gets a chance to perform the transaction. The error is thrown right after WSClient has downloaded the second of two schemas referenced in he WSDL.

  • Indirect function call in JavaScript

    - by Art
There are things like f.call(...) f.apply(...) But then there's this (1, alert)('Zomg what is this????!!!11') "1" does not seem to mean much in this context, the following works just fine: (null, alert)('Zomg what is this????!!!11') (1, null, alert)('Zomg what is this????!!!11') (undefined, alert)('Zomg what is this????!!!11') Could you point to a specific part of ECMAScript which describes that syntax?
