  • Vertical positioning of text in table cell

    - by Robert
    When I place an image followed by text in a table cell, the vertical alignment of the text shifts down compared to text in adjacent cells. I tried using a line-height CSS property, but it didn't seem to have an affect. In the following example, I need "123 Description" to be flush with "cell one." Also, there is a space between the image and "123" by default. How can I adjust that - negative margins perhaps? <html <head <style type="text/css" table { border-collapse: collapse; } td { border: thin solid; width: 10em;} /* .adjust-text { line-height: 1.3em; } */ </style </head <body <table <tbody <tr <tdcell one</td <td <img src="small-star.png" / <span class="adjust-text"123 Description</span </td </tr </tbody </table </body </html

  • Getting data into MATLAB from HTTPS

    - by yuk
Anybody know if it's possible? I'm trying to get the data by using the following code url = 'https://cgwb.nci.nih.gov/cgi-bin/hgTracks'; params = {'org','Human','db','hg18','position','EGFR'}; urltxt = urlread(url,'get',params); but get the error ??? Error using ==> urlread at 111 Error downloading URL. Your network connection may be down or your proxy settings improperly configured. If I substitute https to http, it works, but I get "301 Moved Permanently" page with the above https-link. The link in browser works properly in both cases (redirecting http request). The site does not require any authentication. May be there are other ways than urlread?

  • div block going to next line in Firefox

    - by user550265
    I have a div with display:block in my css. This div block uses the align = "absmiddle" . It displays all the elements in 1 line in Chrome. However, in firefox, the elements are displyed on to the next line as well. How do I get them to display in 1 single line in firefox. P.S: I have already tried display: inline but it does not bring it in 1 line. <div class="one"><input name="elementone" value="1" align="absmiddle" class="subone" /></div> Css is div.one,div.subone{ display:block; width:16px; height:100%; background-position:0 0px; border:0 }

  • Returning a 1x1 .gif as a response in Rails

    - by Avishai
Hi, I'm building a Rails app that does conversion tracking on outside sites. I'd like to allow users to paste an image tag in their conversion pages (like AdWords), and whenever that image is requested, a conversion registers in my app. respond_to do |format| if @conversion.save flash[:notice] = 'Conversion was successfully created.' format.html { redirect_to(@conversion) } format.xml { render :xml => @conversion, :status => :created, :location => @conversion } format.js { render :json => @conversion, :status => :created } format.gif { head :status => :ok } else format.html { render :action => "new" } format.xml { render :xml => @conversion.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end This way, the browser gets a non-existent .gif image. Is there a better way to do this?

  • Issue with css float -- Hindering IE6 from putting div in next line

    - by Bernhard V
Hi, I've got an issue with floating divs in IE6. There's one navigation div on the left and one content div for the rest of the page. They've got the following css values: #navigation { float: left; width: 185px; padding-left: 5px; overflow: auto; height: 100%; } #content { overflow: auto; height: 100%; } In Firefox, IE8, Chrome and Opera, I get scrollbars for the content div when I resize the page to a size where both divs can't fit in as a whole. The navigation div stays in its place. And that is the desired behaviour. But in IE6, there are no scrollbars for the content div. Instead, when the page is getting too small, IE6 simply puts the content div under the navigation div. Do you know any way to hinder IE6 from this behaviour?

  • Loading jQuery gallery after the Ajax call

    - by TiiMoo
I am trying to put a jQuery gallery after the Ajax call. On my main site, I create a div which wrap the main content (e.g site_content). When users click on one of the hyperlink on the main page, the "site_content" will get updated and display other content which is saved at other HTML file and I am using AJAX to avoid the whole page refresh. However I having a problem of running the JavaScript/jQuery gallery because the JavaScript won't work after the AJAX call. I understand that because the browser does not know there will be some functions to call after the content (from the other HTML file) is successfully displayed. I tried to use the jQuery getScript method but it is still not working. Could anyone give me some ideas how can I run the javaScript/jQuery gallery after the AJAX call? Thanks

  • Stretch image to fill div, but not skew

    - by z0mbieParade
I'm trying to make an image stretch to fit inside a div. However I want it to overflow so that the entire div is filled. The div resizes with the page. I want an effect similar to the jQuery bgstretcher plugin (http://www.ajaxblender.com/bgstretcher-2-jquery-stretch-background-plugin-updated.html) , but I cannot use that plugin because I'm already using it for the background image on the page, and it seems to not work when you try and activate multiple instances of it. So what I'm asking is for some sort of simple jQuery function that resizes an image to completely fill a div with overflow hidden, so that there are no gaps, but without skewing the image. Edit: http://jsfiddle.net/R7UCZ/ That's sort of what I'm after, but I want the image to fill the entire div without skewing. If the image goes out of the div a bit, that's fine, but I need it to resize with the div, which resizes with the page, both height and width.

C# private System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary<string, string> ValuesField = new System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary<string, string>(); public string Value { get { return ValuesField(FieldName); } set { ValuesField(FieldName) = value; } } VB Private ValuesField As New System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary(Of String, String) Public Property Value(ByVal FieldName As String) As String Get Return ValuesField(FieldName) End Get Set(ByVal value As String) ValuesField(FieldName) = value End Set End Property XAML <TextBox Name="TextBox1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="120"Text="{Binding Path=Value[MyField],Mode=TwoWay }" />

  • Should I start with Trac 0.12 ?

    - by mree
I'm going to start using Trac for the first time. From what I've gathered, the latest 0.12 is capable of supporting multiple project easily (which is something I will need since I got about 5 projects). However, it seems 0.12 is still in the development (0.12-dev). So, my question is, is it good enough for a newbie in Trac like me to use it? Does anyone has any experience using it ? It will be installed on a Linux server. BTW, I'll only be using the basic functions such as svn browser, wiki, tickets and others.

  • Why exactly is server side HTML rendering faster than client side?

    - by mvbl fst
I am working on a large web site, and we're moving a lot of functionality to the client side (Require.js, Backbone and Handlebars stack). There are even discussions about possibly moving all rendering to the client side. But reading some articles, especially ones about Twitter moving away from client side rendering, which mention that server side is faster / more reliable, I begin to have questions. I don't understand how rendering fairly simple HTML widgets in JS from JSON and templates is a contemporary browser on a dual core CPU with 4-8 GB RAM is any slower than making dozens of includes in your server side app. Are there any actual real life benchmarking figures regarding this? Also, it seems like parsing HTML templates by server side templating engines can't be any faster than rendering same HTML code from a Handlebars template, especially if this is a precomp JS function?

  • position a div under another element

    - by user555222
hi.. how can I position a div under another element without the rest of the layout is affected of the div element? <div style="margin:20px; padding:10px"> here is a little <span id="test" style="font-weight:bold">test</span> </div> <script> var elm = document.getElementById('test'); var div = elm.appendChild(document.createElement('div')); with(div){ style.position = 'absolute'; style.left = elm.offsetLeft; style.background = '#ffffff'; style.width = '100px'; style.height = '50px'; innerHTML = 'wooop'; } </script> this works in IE but not in FF.. FF ignores the style.left and position the element at 0px as if it was aligned to the left

  • SSRS and cached reports

    - by Tabloo Quijico
Hi, I'm opening an SSRS2008 report using the http://server/reportserver/... syntax, outputting directly a PDF copy. This report has several parameters. The problem is that, despite making changes to the report, and clearing the browser's temporary files cache.. if I request the same report (i.e. same parameters) - the old report is returned. In the report execution properties, I have "Always run this report with the most recent data" and "Do not cache temporary copies of this report" selected. It's not just a case of caching data, but the entire report (including formatting, e.g. I deleted a page from the report yet it was still being shown...) and as I haven't specifically chosen to perform any caching I'm a little concerned and clearly don't fully understand what's going on! Any tips?

  • Struts2 plugins - Dojo or jQuery or...?

    - by Trick
Since Apache Struts has deprecated Dojo plugin from Struts 2.1.x I am thinking to change everything to jQuery. I especially noticed the difference in sizes (170kb vs 19kb - something like that). I had troubles with IE browser with handling dojo scripts, is this happening also with jQuery (when user is working with the application for a long time, script stops running)? I have a lot of dojo tags in my applications, and I use most of theirs attributes. Has anyone had any experience doing that? What were the problems? What were the benefits? Downsides? Does anyone has any better ideas of which plugin to include with Struts2? Any answer will be great! Thanks.

  • Can a plain servlet be configured as a seam component?

    - by stacker
I created a plain servlet within a seam-gen (2.1.2) application, now I would like to use injection. Thus I annotated it with @Name and it's recognized as component: INFO [Component] Component: ConfigReport, scope: EVENT, type: JAVA_BEAN, class: com.mycompany.servlet.ConfigReport Unfortunatly the injection of the logger doesn't work NullPointerException in init() import org.jboss.seam.annotations.Logger; import org.jboss.seam.annotations.Name; import org.jboss.seam.log.Log; @Name("ConfigReport") public class ConfigReport extends HttpServlet { @Logger private Log log; public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException { log.info( "BOOM" ); } } Is my approach abusive? What would be the alternatives (the client sending requests to the servlet is curl, not a browser)?

  • Creating "screenshots" with HTML 5 and CSS 3?

    - by Tower
Hi, I need to create small thumbnails of HTML elements. I first thought using CSS 3 reflection, but it is limited to being only a reflection (and not a direct copy) and I can not move it from its standard position. Then I thought using JavaScript to copy the HTML element entirely along with all its contents and apply CSS 3 transform to scale it down to a thumbnail. That works pretty well, but is kind of a hack. Does anyone know a better way of doing this with JavaScript, HTML 5 and CSS 3. Flash, Java and such are not an option and it only needs to work in one browser.

  • HTML/Javascript: Is it possible to remember the filename from a fileupload field ONLY and then later

    - by Pieter Breed
I have a HTML file upload field from which I'm reading the file name of the file that the user specifies. The actual contents of the file is never uploaded. At a later stage, is it possible to construct a link using this file name information so that if the user clicks on this link, the original file is launched into a new browser window? If not, what are the reason for disallowing this behaviour? The purpose of such a feature is to store links to documents that are available on a mapped local drive or a network share.

  • Display indented XML code within a HTML page

    - by Efrain
I have a programmatically created HTML document on which I would like to show some XML-code, fully formatted with line breaks and tabulators. That is, it should look like if you drag an xml file without a xml-stylesheet directly onto your browser (most browsers do some kind of xml-rendering with some default style sheet). Now, I can of course escape all the characters (like <>, tab and newline) and do the indenting myself (using css styles, for example), but I was wondering whether I couldn't re-use some 'default' xml-stylesheet from somewhere. Preferrably also one that has some javascript node-folding, too. Do you know such a stylesheet/xslt? Or would you suggest another way to achieve this? I'm using C#. PS: I tried to use the XmlNotepad.DefaultSS.xslt from Microsoft's XmlNotepad, but I couldn't really get that working. :T

  • How to Vertically Center Icons on a Line?

    - by jeremy
What's the best way to center icons on a line when the icons are smaller than the line height? For example (styles inline for easier reading): <div style="line-height: 20px"> <img style="width: 12px; height: 12px;"/> Blah blah blah </div> I want the img to be centered on a single line of the div, above. That is, even if the text wrapped to multiple lines, the image would be centered against a single line. Ideally, the solution would not involve setting margings/paddings on the image and would work even if I didn't know the line-height. Things I've read: How do I vertically align text next to an image with CSS? (deals with case where image is larger, doesn't seem to apply here) Understanding vertical-align

  • How to write a program that mimics Fiddler by using tcpdump or from scratch?

    - by ????
When Fiddler is not on Mac OS X or Ubuntu, and if we don't install/use Wireshark or any other more heavy duty tools, what is a way to use tcpdump so that 1) It can print out GET /foo/bar HTTP/1.1 [request content in RAW text] [response content in RAW text] POST /foo/... HTTP/1.1 this should be able to be done by tcpdump or by using tcpdump in a short shell script or Ruby / Python / Perl script. 2) Actually, it can be neat if a script can output HTML, with GET /foo/bar HTTP/1.1 POST /foo/... HTTP/1.1 on the page, for any browser to display, and then when clicked on any of those lines, it will expand to show the RAW content like (1) above does. Click again and it will hide the details. The expansion UI can be done using jQuery or any JS library. The script may be short... possibly less than 20 lines? Does anybody know how to do it either for (1) or (2)?
