  • GWT: Best practice for unit testing / mocking JSNI methods?

    I have a class which uses JSNI to retrieve JSON data stored in the host page: protected native JsArray<JsonModel> getModels() /*-{ return $wnd.jsonData; }-*/; This method is called, and the data is then translated and process in a different method. How should I unit test this class, since I'm not able to instantiate (or seemingly mock?) JsArray? What is the best way to unit test JSNI methods at all?

  • Is it possible to override the default logging for Glassfish v3?

    Related to this question. It appears that Glassfish is exporting slf4j into my application and overriding my logging solution. Is it possible for me to override Glassfish's logging and have my own logging solution take precedence? After searching, I have only found ways to modify the log using logging.properties. I am not married to my current implementation, but I am interested in making it work. thanks.

  • Dependency Injection: Jetty 7

    Hi StackOverflow! My application requires several interface implementations which require a Jetty server to do their job. This is, however, not necessarily the case in every implementations of those interfaces so the Jetty server is only a dependency. Since it would be a huge amount of pain to wrap the entire jetty server with all its logging, connector and Handler configurations, I want to inject the server to those implementations with Spring. I decided that injecting the Server class is not a good idea because an implementation could stop the server even if its required at another location. Currently I inject empty HandlerList classes to those implementations and they register their handlers to avoid those problems. The Problem: Those handlers might interfere with other handlers for example: implementation one might register a handler for /foo and implementation two too... problem. Has anyone used Jetty in such an environment? And how could this problem be solved?   • Scheduling Swingworker threads

    Hi, I have a 2 processes to perform in my swing application, one to fill a list, and one to do operations on each element on the list. I've just moved the 2 processes into Swingworker threads to stop the GUI locking up while the tasks are performed, and because I will need to do this set of operations to several lists, so concurrency wouldn't be a bad idea in the first place. However, when I just ran fillList.execute();doStuffToList.execute(); the doStuffToList thread to ran on the empty list (duh...). How do I tell the second process to wait until the first one is done? I suppose I could just nest the second process at the end of the first one, but i dunno, it seems like bad practice.

If i just browse and open the file, nothing happens. Someone please help, this is really frustrating as i cannot seem to find any information online regarding this.

    Hi, How can I prevent my bitmap from being scaled automatically in an ImageView or ImageButton if the view or button is stretched using "fill_parent" or using "weight"? This will be useful, for example, to create a 4-button toolbar at the top of the screen where the buttons are equally spaced, but the images inside the buttons keep getting streched even if I use scaleType="center", which should prevent scaling according to the doc, but it doesn't.   • Why does my Sax Parser produce no results after using InputStream Read?

    Hello, I have this piece of code which I'm hoping will be able to tell me how much data I have downloaded (and soon put it in a progress bar), and then parse the results through my Sax Parser. If I comment out basically everything above the //xr.parse(new InputSource(request.getInputStream())); line and swap the xr.parse's over, it works fine. But at the moment, my Sax parser tells me I have nothing. Is it something to do with is.read (buffer) section?     Hi Wayne :) I want to use HttpServer, which you mentioned, and I think is cool to do comet/cometd. I am wondering how tough it is to do it so that I can take the waiting connections off the thread and into some waiting queue. Also, am I correct in that it looks like it is using nio? Also, is there any better examples? I always get caught up in the terminology that the javadoc uses... Thanks :)

    Hi, I tried doing a mvn dependency:tree and I get a tree of dependencies. My question is, My project depends on many modules which internally depends on many spring artifacts. There are a few version clashes. I want to upgrade all spring related libraries to say the latest one (2.6.x or above). What is the preferred way to do this? Should I declare all the deps spring-context, spring-support (and 10 other artifacts) in my pom.xml and point them to 2.6.x ? Is there any other better method ?     Okay guys, this is similar to my repeatEnd and wordEnds efforts; I want to solve this codingBat Warmup-2 question using only regex-based techniques as a "brain gymnastics" exercise. This solution works for codingBat tests: public int last2(String str) { return str.isEmpty() ? 0 : str.split( str.replaceAll( ".*(.)(.)", "$1(?=$2)" //.replaceAll("(\\$.)", "\\\\\\\\Q$1\\\\\\\\E") ), -1 ).length - 1 - 1; } The monstrous octo-slashes aren't needed to pass codingBat, but is needed for a proper regex-based solution. That is, if I want this (and I do!): assert last2("..+++...++") == 2; I'd have to uncomment the second .replaceAll. I'm just wondering if others can come up with a simpler, more elegant regex solution for this problem. Preferably one that doesn't contain octo-slashes.

  • Data Structure Behind Amazon S3s Keys (Filtering Data Structure)

    I'd like to implement a data structure similar to the lookup functionality of Amazon S3. For those of you who don't know what I'm taking about, Amazon S3 stores all files at the root, but allows you to look up groups of files by common prefixes in their names, therefore replicating the power of a directory tree without the complexity of it. The catch is, both lookup and filter operations are O(1) (or close enough that even on very large buckets - S3's disk equivalents - both operations might as well be O(1))). So in short, I'm looking for a data structure that functions like a hash map, with the added benefit of efficient (at the very least not O(n)) filtering. The best I can come up with is extending HashMap so that it also contains a (sorted) list of contents, and doing a binary search for the range that matches the prefix, and returning that set. This seems slow to me, but I can't think of any other way to do it. Does anyone know either how Amazon does it, or a better way to implement this data structure?

    For a listView, when you register an OnItemClickListener, the method you specify looks like this: public abstract void onItemClick (AdapterView parent, View view, int position, long id) The id corresponds to the row that the user clicked on. My question is simply why is it a long and not an int? When would you use it as a long? I've been casting it to an int when I use it, so it makes me think that maybe I'm using it wrong.

  • JAXB: How to avoid repeated namespace definition for xmlns:xsi

    I have a JAXB setup where I use a @XmlJavaTypeAdapter to replace objects of type Person with objects of type PersonRef that only contains the person's UUID. This works perfectly fine. However, the generated XML redeclares the same namespace (xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance") every time it's used. While this is generally okay, it just doesn't feel right. How can I configure JAXB to declare xmlns:xsi at the very beginning of the document? Can I manually add namespace declarations to the root element?
