    - by George

When I type something in the textbox and click the button, the button runs the datasource.filterexpression and filters out the rows. The question whenever I click on the edit button after the filter has been applied The grid auto resets back to the original table? How can I solve this?

  • Custom ASP.net UserControl List<T> Property, having trouble setting declaratively

    - by Chris McCall
    I'm developing a custom UserControl to inject JQuery hotkeys into a page declaratively on the server side. Here's the control (the important parts anyway): [AspNetHostingPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Level = AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Minimal), AspNetHostingPermission(SecurityAction.InheritanceDemand, Level = AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Minimal), DefaultProperty("HotKeys"), ParseChildren(true, "HotKeys"), ToolboxData("<{0}:HotKeysControl runat=\"server\"> </{0}:HotKeysControl>")] public partial class HotKeysControl : System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl { private string crlf = Environment.NewLine; public List<HotKey> _HotKeys; public HotKeysControl() { if (_HotKeys == null) { _HotKeys = new List<HotKey>(); } // if I uncomment this line, script is injected into the page // _HotKeys.Add(new HotKey("ctrl+r","thisControl")); } [ Category("Behavior"), Description("The hotkeys collection"), DesignerSerializationVisibility( DesignerSerializationVisibility.Content), Editor(typeof(HotKeyCollectionEditor), typeof(UITypeEditor)), PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerDefaultProperty) ] public List<HotKey> HotKeys { set { _HotKeys = value; } get { return _HotKeys; } } Here's the .aspx code: <%@ Register Assembly="MyCompany.ProductName.WebControls" Namespace="MyCompany.ProductName.WebControls" TagPrefix="uc" %> ... <uc:HotKeysControl ID="theHotkeys" runat="server" Visible="false"> <uc:HotKey ControlName="firstControl" KeyCode="ctrl+1" /> <uc:HotKey ControlName="thirdControl" KeyCode="ctrl+2" /> </uc:HotKeysControl> Nothing happens, as if no HotKeys objects are being added to the property collection. What Am I doing wrong? If I uncomment out the line above and "manually" add items, it works. It's something about how I'm declaratively adding hotkeys to the page. Any ideas?

  • Total Number of records required in paged .NET datagrid control

    - by sumitchauhan
I am using a data grid and has bound a data source with it. I am trying to get the total number of records in the grid in overriden InitializePager method from pagedDataSource DataSourceCount. I thought DataSourceCount returns number of records from SelectCountMethod of ObjectDataSource, but DataSourceCount is giving me the page size and not the total number of records, whereas when I debug and see in SelectCountMethod it is returning correct number of total Records. I am not sure how to get the data from SelectCountMethod in DataGrid.

  • One class per file rule in .NET?

    - by Joan Venge
I follow this rule but some of my colleagues disagree with it and argue that if a class is smaller it can be left in the same file with other class(es). Another argument I hear all the time is "Even Microsoft don't do this, so why should we?" What's the general consensus on this? Are there cases where this should be avoided?

  • Using multiple databases within one application (ASP.NET MVC, LINQ to SQL)

    - by Alex
I have a web application made for several groups of people not connected with each other. Instead of using one database for all of them, I'm thinking about making separate databases. This will improve the speed of the queries and make me free from checking to what group the user belongs. But since I'm working with LINQ to SQL, my classes are explicitly connected with the databases, so I will have to make separate DataContexts for all of the databases. So how can I solve this problem? Or should I just not bother and use one database only?

  • Log session and session changes of a asp.net web user

    - by Johan Wikström
This is going to be a quite broad question, and any suggestions, examples, links are very welcome! I'm looking for a good way to log my users session, and actions on the site up to a certain point. The site in question is a site for doing bookings. The users start with doing a search, doing a few steps of data gathering and selections and end up with a booking. So what I need to implement is some kind of logging of the current session variables at each step the user takes. And perhaps some other valid information. Logging should preferably be done to the a database. At the end i would like to associate all these session with a booking reference. The goal is to later if something goes wrong with the booking or we need to investigate a situation have all information we need. I understand log4net is a popular choice for logging, and used it a bit myself for simple purposes, but can not find any good examples regarding my situation. This should be a common situation, i'm curious how others do it.

  • ASP.NET MVC & Windsor.Castle: working with HttpContext-dependent services

    - by Igor Brejc
I have several dependency injection services which are dependent on stuff like HTTP context. Right now I'm configuring them as singletons the Windsor container in the Application_Start handler, which is obviously a problem for such services. What is the best way to handle this? I'm considering making them transient and then releasing them after each HTTP request. But what is the best way/place to inject the HTTP context into them? Controller factory or somewhere else?

  • Querystring formatting in asp.net MVC 2

    - by Stuart
Seems like a straitforward question but I can't quite figure it out myself... I have an actionlink like so Html.ActionLink( "Test", "test", new { q = "search+twitter" } ) This produces a url string as follows http://myserver/test?q=search%2Btwitter But i would like to preserve the plus sign (which i assume is being UrlPathEncoded) so that I get the following url http://myserver/test?q=search+twitter Is there an easy way to do this whilst still using Html.ActionLink ?

  • ASP.net MVC support for URL's with hyphens

    - by John
Is there an easy way to get the MvcRouteHandler to convert all hyphens in the action and controller sections of an incoming URL to underscores as hyphens are not supported in method or class names. This would be so that I could support such structures as sample.com/test-page/edit-details mapping to Action edit_details and Controller test_pagecontroller while continuing to use MapRoute method. I understand I can specify an action name attribute and support hyphens in controller names which out manually adding routes to achieve this however I am looking for an automated way so save errors when adding new controllers and actions.

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 Preview 2 Route Request Not Working

    - by Kezzer
Here's the error: The incoming request does not match any route. Basically I upgraded from Preview 1 to Preview 2 and got rid of a load of redundant stuff in relation to areas (as described by Phil Haack). It didn't work so I created a brand new project to check out how its dealt with in Preview 2. The file Default.aspx no longer exists which contains the following: public void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { // Change the current path so that the Routing handler can correctly interpret // the request, then restore the original path so that the OutputCache module // can correctly process the response (if caching is enabled). string originalPath = Request.Path; HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(Request.ApplicationPath, false); IHttpHandler httpHandler = new MvcHttpHandler(); httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(originalPath, false); } The error I received points to the line httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); yet in newer projects none of this even exists. To test it, I quickly deleted Default.aspx but then absolutely nothing worked, I didn't even receive any errors. Here's some code extracts: Global.asax.cs using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Mvc; using System.Web.Routing; namespace Intranet { public class MvcApplication : System.Web.HttpApplication { public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas(); routes.MapRoute( "Default", "{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } ); } protected void App_Start() { RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } } } Notice the area registration as that's what I'm using. Routes.cs using System.Web.Mvc; namespace Intranet.Areas.Accounts { public class Routes : AreaRegistration { public override string AreaName { get { return "Accounts"; } } public override void RegisterArea(AreaRegistrationContext context) { context.MapRoute("Accounts_Default", "Accounts/{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" }); } } } Check the latest docs for more info on this part. It's to register the area. The Routes.cs files are located in the root folder of each area. Cheers

  • asp.net Wizard control strange issue

    - by epitka
    Update: There was actually a hidden panel with validator in the user control that was causing page not to be valid on the first postback. Consider this issue resolved. This is first time I am using this control and it is behaving rather strange. I have to click on the "Next" button twice for it to move to the next step. I tried explicitly setting active index, using MoveTo etc. Nothing works. Here is the markup for the control. Anybody has any ideas why? <asp:Wizard ID="UserWizard" runat="server" ActiveStepIndex="0" StartNextButtonImageUrl = "~/App_Themes/Default/images/buttons/continue.gif" StartNextButtonType="Image" StepNextButtonType="Image" StepNextButtonImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Default/images/buttons/continue.gif" FinishPreviousButtonImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Default/images/buttons/back.gif" FinishPreviousButtonType="Image" FinishCompleteButtonImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Default/images/buttons/save.gif" FinishCompleteButtonType="Image" CancelButtonType="Image" CancelButtonImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Default/images/buttons/back.gif" DisplaySideBar="false" > <WizardSteps> <asp:WizardStep Title="User Profile" ID="UserProfile" runat="server"> <uhc:ctlUserProfileEdit ID="ctlUserProfileEdit" runat="server"> </uhc:ctlUserProfileEdit> <br clear="all" /> <div> <asp:ImageButton ID="cmdResetPassword" runat="server" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Default/images/buttons/resetpassword.gif" /> </div> <div> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="upSchools" runat="server" ChildrenAsTriggers="true"> <ContentTemplate> <uhc:ctlSchoolLocationSelector ID="ctlSchoolLocationSelector" runat="server" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div> </asp:WizardStep> <asp:WizardStep Title="Roles" ID="Roles" runat="server"> <uhc:ctlPermissionInternal ID="ctlPermissionInternal1" runat="server"></uhc:ctlPermissionInternal> <uhc:ctlPermissionExternal ID="ctlPermissionExternal1" runat="server"></uhc:ctlPermissionExternal> </asp:WizardStep> </WizardSteps> </asp:Wizard>

  • Handling row selection from a simple grid using jquery and asp.net mvc

    - by Jonn
Using a simple table and jquery, how would you manually handle selection using jquery? So far, I've managed to add a gridrowselected class on the tr when the click event is called so that I'll know which row is currently selected. But I don't know how to pass the selected data back to the controller (or at least an index I placed on the row). I tried something like this $(function() { $('#ProjectList .gridrow').click(function() { // Get row's index var projectId = $(this).find('input[name$=ProjectId]').val(); // Remove the input if it already exists var parentForm = $(this).parents('form'); parentForm.remove('input[name="selectedRows"][value="' + projectId + '"]'); // If it is selected, create the form. If it's not selected then the input just gets removed (the user must have clicked on it and deselected the row) if ($(this).hasClass('gridrow-selected') === true) { parentForm.append($('<input>', { type: "hidden", name: "selectedRows", value: projectId })); } }); }); which I'm expecting to create a hidden input so that when I post, selectedRows gets passed onto the controller. But all it does is create the input, but the data still doesn't get passed to the controller.

  • ASP.NET MVC Referencing Html Helper from a view

    - by Dan
I've written an Html Helper called DetailsForm to reduce repetition when displaying fields in a view. Within a view - actually a partial view, ascx file - I can refer to it like this: Storyboard.Helpers.DetailsForm.LabelAndData(Html, m => m.id) But would like to refer to it like this: LabelAndData(Html, m => m.id) A 'using' directive doesn't seem to be allowed in the ascx file. Is there an equivalent?

  • .net Generic Calls <T>

    - by Ryan
I have a function that accepts a generic parameter T that is of type class like so : public Func<T, bool> MyMethod<T>(string paramName, object value) where T : class But when calling the function I do not have direct access to the class that needs to be the parameter. MyMethod<foo>("foo1", "foo2") Is there a way I can get the class foo via other means like reflection so I can use the function?
