  • #include in .h or .c / .cpp ?

    - by Louise
    Hi, When coding in either C or C++, where should I have the #include's? callback.h: #ifndef _CALLBACK_H_ #define _CALLBACK_H_ #include <sndfile.h> #include "main.h" void on_button_apply_clicked(GtkButton* button, struct user_data_s* data); void on_button_cancel_clicked(GtkButton* button, struct user_data_s* data); #endif callback.c: #include <stdlib.h> #include <math.h> #include "config.h" #include "callback.h" #include "play.h" void on_button_apply_clicked(GtkButton* button, struct user_data_s* data) { gint page; page = gtk_notebook_get_current_page(GTK_NOTEBOOK(data->notebook)); ... Should all includes be in either the .h or .c / .cpp, or both like I have done here?

  • MySQL Column Value Pivot

    - by manyxcxi
I have a MySQL InnoDB table laid out like so: id (int), run_id (int), element_name (varchar), value (text), line_order, column_order `MyDB`.`MyTable` ( `id` bigint(20) NOT NULL, `run_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `element_name` varchar(255) NOT NULL, `value` text, `line_order` int(11) default NULL, `column_order` int(11) default NULL It is used to store data generated by a Java program that used to output this in CSV format, hence the line_order and column_order. Lets say I have 2 entries (according to the table description): 1,1,'ELEMENT 1','A',0,0 2,1,'ELEMENT 2','B',0,1 I want to pivot this data in a view for reporting so that it would look like more like the CSV would, where the output would look this: --------------------- |ELEMENT 1|ELEMENT 2| --------------------- | A | B | --------------------- The data coming in is extremely dynamic; it can be in any order, can be any of over 900 different elements, and the value could be anything. The Run ID ties them all together, and the line and column order basically let me know where the user wants that data to come back in order.

  • Using ember-resource with couchdb - how can i save my documents?

    - by Thomas Herrmann
I am implementing an application using ember.js and couchdb. I choose ember-resource as database access layer because it nicely supports nested JSON documents. Since couchdb uses the attribute _rev for optimistic locking in every document, this attribute has to be updated in my application after saving the data to the couchdb. My idea to implement this is to reload the data right after saving to the database and get the new _rev back with the rest of the document. Here is my code for this: // Since we use CouchDB, we have to make sure that we invalidate and re-fetch // every document right after saving it. CouchDB uses an optimistic locking // scheme based on the attribute "_rev" in the documents, so we reload it in // order to have the correct _rev value. didSave: function() { this._super.apply(this, arguments); this.forceReload(); }, // reload resource after save is done, expire to make reload really do something forceReload: function() { this.expire(); // Everything OK up to this location Ember.run.next(this, function() { this.fetch() // Sub-Document is reset here, and *not* refetched! .fail(function(error) { App.displayError(error); }) .done(function() { App.log("App.Resource.forceReload fetch done, got revision " + self.get('_rev')); }); }); } This works for most cases, but if i have a nested model, the sub-model is replaced with the old version of the data just before the fetch is executed! Interestingly enough, the correct (updated) data is stored in the database and the wrong (old) data is in the memory model after the fetch, although the _rev attribut is correct (as well as all attributes of the main object). Here is a part of my object definition: App.TaskDefinition = App.Resource.define({ url: App.dbPrefix + 'courseware', schema: { id: String, _rev: String, type: String, name: String, comment: String, task: { type: 'App.Task', nested: true } } }); App.Task = App.Resource.define({ schema: { id: String, title: String, description: String, startImmediate: Boolean, holdOnComment: Boolean, ..... // other attributes and sub-objects } }); Any ideas where the problem might be? Thank's a lot for any suggestion! Kind regards, Thomas

  • Testing ASP.NET security in Firefox

    - by blahblah
I'm not sure whether this question belongs on StackOverflow or SuperUser, but here goes nothing... I'm trying to test out some basic security problems on my personal ASP.NET website to see exactly how the custom validators, etc. work when tampering with the data. I've been looking at the Firefox extension TamperData which seems to do the trick, but it doesn't feel very professional at all. The issues I'm having with TamperData is that the textbox for the POST data is way too small to hold the ASP.NET view-state, so I have to copy that data into Emacs and then back again to be productive at all. I also don't like that there doesn't seem to be an option to only tamper with data which is from/to localhost. Any ideas on better extensions for the task or better methods to test it?

  • Extracting Certain XML Elements with PHP SimpleXML

    - by Peter
I am having some problems parsing this piece of XML using SimpleXML. There is always only one Series element, and a variable number of Episode elements beneath. I want to parse XML so I can store the Series data in one table, and all the Episode data in another table. XML: <Data> <Series> <id>80348</id> <Genre>|Action and Adventure|Comedy|Drama|</Genre> <IMDB_ID>tt0934814</IMDB_ID> <SeriesID>68724</SeriesID> <SeriesName>Chuck</SeriesName> <banner>graphical/80348-g.jpg</banner> </Series> <Episode> <id>935481</id> <Director>Robert Duncan McNeill</Director> <EpisodeName>Chuck Versus the Third Dimension 2D</EpisodeName> <EpisodeNumber>1</EpisodeNumber> <seasonid>27984</seasonid> <seriesid>80348</seriesid> </Episode> <Episode> <id>935483</id> <Director>Robert Duncan McNeill</Director> <EpisodeName>Buy More #15: Employee Health</EpisodeName> <EpisodeNumber>2</EpisodeNumber> <seasonid>27984</seasonid> <seriesid>80348</seriesid> </Episode> </Data> When I attempt to access just the first Series element and child nodes, or iterate through the Episode elements only it does not work. I have also tried to use DOMDocument with SimpleXML, but could not get that to work at all. PHP Code: <?php if(file_exists('en.xml')) { $data = simplexml_load_file('en.xml'); foreach($data as $series) { echo 'id: <br />' . $series->id; echo 'imdb: <br />' . $series->IMDB_ID; } } ?> Output: id:80348 imdb:tt0934814 id:935481 imdb: id:1534641 imdb: Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to determine whether a class has a particular templated member function?

    - by Aozine
I was wondering if it's possible to extend the SFINAE approach to detecting whether a class has a certain member function (as discussed here: "Is there a Technique in C++ to know if a class has a member function of a given signature?" http://stackoverflow.com/questions/87372/is-there-a-technique-in-c-to-know-if-a-class-has-a-member-function-of-a-given-s ) to support templated member functions? E.g. to be able to detect the function foo in the following class: struct some_class { template < int _n > void foo() { } }; I thought it might be possible to do this for a particular instantiation of foo, (e.g. check to see if void foo< 5 >() is a member) as follows: template < typename _class, int _n > class foo_int_checker { template < typename _t, void (_t::*)() > struct sfinae { }; template < typename _t > static big test( sfinae< _t, &_t::foo< _n > > * ); template < typename _t > static small test( ... ); public: enum { value = sizeof( test< _class >( 0 ) ) == sizeof( big ) }; }; Then do foo_int_checker< some_class, 5 >::value to check whether some_class has the member void foo< 5 >(). However on MSVC++ 2008 this always returns false while g++ gives the following syntax errors at the line test( sfinae< _t, &_t::foo< _n > > ); test.cpp:24: error: missing `>' to terminate the template argument list test.cpp:24: error: template argument 2 is invalid test.cpp:24: error: expected unqualified-id before '<' token test.cpp:24: error: expected `,' or `...' before '<' token test.cpp:24: error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of `parameter' with no type Both seem to fail because I'm trying to get the address of a template function instantiation from a type that is itself a template parameter. Does anyone know whether this is possible or if it's disallowed by the standard for some reason? EDIT: It seems that I missed out the ::template syntax to get g++ to compile the above code correctly. If I change the bit where I get the address of the function to &_t::template foo< _n > then the program compiles, but I get the same behaviour as MSVC++ (value is always set to false). If I comment out the ... overload of test to force the compiler to pick the other one, I get the following compiler error in g++: test.cpp: In instantiation of `foo_int_checker<A, 5>': test.cpp:40: instantiated from here test.cpp:32: error: invalid use of undefined type `class foo_int_checker<A, 5>' test.cpp:17: error: declaration of `class foo_int_checker<A, 5>' test.cpp:32: error: enumerator value for `value' not integer constant where line 32 is the enum { value = sizeof( test< _class >( 0 ) ) == sizeof( big ) }; line. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to help me diagnose the problem :(. MSVC++ gives a similar nondescript error: error C2770: invalid explicit template argument(s) for 'clarity::meta::big checker<_checked_type>::test(checker<_checked_type>::sfinae<_t,&_t::template foo<5>> *)' on the same line. What's strange is that if I get the address from a specific class and not a template parameter (i.e. rather than &_t::template foo< _n > I do &some_class::template foo< _n >) then I get the correct result, but then my checker class is limited to checking a single class (some_class) for the function. Also, if I do the following: template < typename _t, void (_t::*_f)() > void f0() { } template < typename _t > void f1() { f0< _t, &_t::template foo< 5 > >(); } and call f1< some_class >() then I DON'T get a compile error on &_t::template foo< 5 >. This suggests that the problem only arises when getting the address of a templated member function from a type that is itself a template parameter while in a SFINAE context. Argh!

  • JSON in an AJAX request

    - by Josh K
    I have a PHP API I'm working with that outputs everything as JSON. I need to call one of the API methods and parse it out using an AJAX request. I am using jQuery (though it shouldn't matter). When I make the request it errors out with a "parsererror" as the textStatus and a "Syntax Error: invalid label" when I make the request. Simplified code: $.ajax ({ type: "POST", url: "http://mydomain.com/api/get/userlist/"+mid, dataType: "json", dataFilter: function(data, type) { /* Here we assume and pray */ users = eval(data); alert(users[1].id); }, success: function(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest) { alert(data.length); // Should be an array, yet is undefined. }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert(textStatus); alert(errorThrown); }, complete: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus) { alert("Done"); } });

  • How to Use 3 Monitors

    - by The.Anti.9
Right now my setup has a nice big 24" flatscreen in the center, and a 19" flatscreen to the left. And a big gaping hole on the right. I have a 3rd monitor to put there, but I'm not sure how to get the computer to recognize it. Do I need a graphics card with 3 ports? Or can I span the monitors over non SLI-Linked graphics cards? Is it possible to plug my 3rd monitor into the on-board VGA port and have it work?

  • Compile time float packing/punning

    - by detly
I'm writing C for the PIC32MX, compiled with Microchip's PIC32 C compiler (based on GCC 3.4). My problem is this: I have some reprogrammable numeric data that is stored either on EEPROM or in the program flash of the chip. This means that when I want to store a float, I have to do some type punning: typedef union { int intval; float floatval; } IntFloat; unsigned int float_as_int(float fval) { IntFloat intf; intf.floatval = fval; return intf.intval; } // Stores an int of data in whatever storage we're using void StoreInt(unsigned int data, unsigned int address); void StoreFPVal(float data, unsigned int address) { StoreInt(float_as_int(data), address); } I also include default values as an array of compile time constants. For (unsigned) integer values this is trivial, I just use the integer literal. For floats, though, I have to use this Python snippet to convert them to their word representation to include them in the array: import struct hex(struct.unpack("I", struct.pack("f", float_value))[0]) ...and so my array of defaults has these indecipherable values like: const unsigned int DEFAULTS[] = { 0x00000001, // Some default integer value, 1 0x3C83126F, // Some default float value, 0.005 } (These actually take the form of X macro constructs, but that doesn't make a difference here.) Commenting is nice, but is there a better way? It's be great to be able to do something like: const unsigned int DEFAULTS[] = { 0x00000001, // Some default integer value, 1 COMPILE_TIME_CONVERT(0.005), // Some default float value, 0.005 } ...but I'm completely at a loss, and I don't even know if such a thing is possible. Notes Obviously "no, it isn't possible" is an acceptable answer if true. I'm not overly concerned about portability, so implementation defined behaviour is fine, undefined behaviour is not (I have the IDB appendix sitting in front of me). As fas as I'm aware, this needs to be a compile time conversion, since DEFAULTS is in the global scope. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

  • Is READ UNCOMMITTED / NOLOCK safe in this situation?

    - by Ben Challenor
I know that snapshot isolation would fix this problem, but I'm wondering if NOLOCK is safe in this specific case so that I can avoid the overhead. I have a table that looks something like this: drop table Data create table Data ( Id BIGINT NOT NULL, Date BIGINT NOT NULL, Value BIGINT, constraint Cx primary key (Date, Id) ) create nonclustered index Ix on Data (Id, Date) There are no updates to the table, ever. Deletes can occur but they should never contend with the SELECT because they affect the other, older end of the table. Inserts are regular and page splits to the (Id, Date) index are extremely common. I have a deadlock situation between a standard INSERT and a SELECT that looks like this: select top 1 Date, Value from Data where Id = @p0 order by Date desc because the INSERT acquires a lock on Cx (Date, Id; Value) and then Ix (Id, Date), but the SELECT acquires a lock on Ix (Id, Date) and then Cx (Date, Id; Value). This is because the SELECT first seeks on Ix and then joins to a seek on Cx. Swapping the clustered and non-clustered index would break this cycle, but it is not an acceptable solution because it would introduce cycles with other (more complex) SELECTs. If I add NOLOCK to the SELECT, can it go wrong in this case? Can it return: More than one row, even though I asked for TOP 1? No rows, even though one exists and has been committed? Worst of all, a row that doesn't satisfy the WHERE clause? I've done a lot of reading about this online, but the only reproductions of over- or under-count anomalies I've seen (one, two) involve a scan. This involves only seeks. Jeff Atwood has a post about using NOLOCK that generated a good discussion. I was particularly interested in a comment by Rick Townsend: Secondly, if you read dirty data, the risk you run is of reading the entirely wrong row. For example, if your select reads an index to find your row, then the update changes the location of the rows (e.g.: due to a page split or an update to the clustered index), when your select goes to read the actual data row, it's either no longer there, or a different row altogether! Is this possible with inserts only, and no updates? If so, then I guess even my seeks on an insert-only table could be dangerous. Update: I'm trying to figure out how snapshot isolation works. It seems to be row-based, where transactions read the table (with no shared lock!), find the row they are interested in, and then see if they need to get an old version of the row from the version store in tempdb. But in my case, no row will have more than one version, so the version store seems rather pointless. And if the row was found with no shared lock, how is it different to just using NOLOCK?

  • How to handle unknown initializer functions in lua?

    - by oofoe
I want to load data written in a variant of lua (eyeonScript). However, the data is peppered with references to initialization functions that are not in plain lua: Redden = BrightnessContrast { Inputs = { Red = Input { Value = 0, }, }, } Standard lua gives "attempt to call a nil value" or "unexpected symbol" errors. Is there any way to catch these and pass it to some sort of generic initializer? I want to wind up with a nested table data structure. Thanks!

  • How to quickly analyse large MDB file

    - by Craig Johnston
I need to know how to quickly analyse a large MDB file (about 1GB) to see which tables are causing it to be so big. Is there something will easily allow me to show a breakdown of which tables are responsible for how much data. I need to know whether it is just this one customer who is using the application differently, or whether there is genuinely a lot of data in the MDB. This MDB is currently causing the VB app to crash, and I need to know why it is so big so that I can maybe think about how to put some of the data into another 'archival' MDB. Migrating to SQL Server is not an option, unless the use of linked tables from an MDB is a realistic option.

Can anyone give me some suggestions? sensitivity_out1 structure(c(0.0522902104339716, 0.0521369824334004, 0.0520240345973737, 0.0519818337359876, 0.051935071418996, 0.0519089404325544, 0.000392698277338341, 0.000326135474295325, 0.000280863338343747, 0.000259631566041935, 0.000246594043996332, 0.000237923540393391, 0.00046732650331544, 0.000474448907808135, 0.000478287273678457, 0.000480194683464109, 0.000480631753078668, 0.000481760272726273, 0.000947965771207979, 0.000944821699830455, 0.000939631071343889, 0.000937186900570605, 0.000936007346568281, 0.000934756220144141, 0.00132442589501872, 0.00132658367774979, 0.00133334696220742, 0.00133622384928092, 0.0013381577476241, 0.00134005741746304, 0.0991622968751298, 0.100791399440082, 0.101946808417405, 0.102524244727408, 0.102920085260477, 0.103232984259916, 0.0305219507186844, 0.0304635269233494, 0.0304161055015213, 0.0303742106794513, 0.0303381888169022, 0.0302996157711171, 1.94268588634518e-05, 2.23991225564447e-05, 2.5756135487907e-05, 2.79997917298194e-05, 3.00753967077715e-05, 3.16270817369878e-05, 0.544701146678523, 0.542887331601984, 0.541632986366816, 0.541005610554556, 0.540617004208336, 0.540315690692195, 0.000453386694666078, 0.000448473414508756, 0.00044692043197248, 0.000444826296854332, 0.000445747996014684, 0.000444764303682453, 0.000127569551159321, 0.000128422491392669, 0.00012933662856487, 0.000129941842982939, 0.000129578971489026, 0.000131113075233758, 0.00684610571790029, 0.00686349387897349, 0.00687468164010565, 0.00687880720347743, 0.00688275579317197, 0.00687822247621936), .Dim = c(6L, 12L)) out2 structure(c(0.0189965816735366, 0.0189995096225103, 0.0190099362589894, 0.0190033523148514, 0.01900896721937, 0.0190099427513381, 0.00192043989797585, 0.00207303208721059, 0.00225931163225165, 0.0024049969048389, 0.00252310364086785, 0.00262940166568126, 0.00195164921633517, 0.00190079923515755, 0.00186139563778548, 0.00184188171395076, 0.00183248544676564, 0.00182492970673969, 1.83038731485927e-05, 1.98252671720347e-05, 2.14794764479231e-05, 2.30713122969332e-05, 2.4484220713564e-05, 2.55958833705284e-05, 0.0428066864455102, 0.0431686808647809, 0.0434411033615353, 0.0435883377765726, 0.0436690169266633, 0.0437340464360965, 0.145288252474567, 0.141488776430307, 0.138204532539654, 0.136281799717717, 0.134864952272761, 0.133738386148036, 0.0711728636959696, 0.072031388688795, 0.0727536853228245, 0.0731581966147734, 0.0734424337399303, 0.0736637270702609, 0.000605277151497094, 0.000617268349064968, 0.000632975679951382, 0.000643904422677427, 0.000653775268094148, 0.000662225067910141, 0.26735354610469, 0.267515415990146, 0.26753155165617, 0.267553498616325, 0.267532284594615, 0.267510330320289, 0.000334158771646756, 0.000319032383145857, 0.000306074699839994, 0.000299153278494114, 0.000293956197852583, 0.000290171804454218, 0.000645975219899115, 0.000637548672578787, 0.000632375486965757, 0.000629579821884212, 0.000624956458229123, 0.000622456283217054, 0.0645188290106884, 0.0651539609630352, 0.0656417364889907, 0.0658996698322889, 0.0660715073023965, 0.0662034341510152), .Dim = c(6L, 12L)) Melt data: group variable value 1 1 PLDKRT 0 2 1 PLDKRT 0 3 1 PLDKRT 0 4 1 PLDKRT 0 5 1 PLDKRT 0 6 1 PLDKRT 0 Code: #Data_source 1 sensitivity_1=rbind(sensitivity_out1,sensitivity_out2) sensitivity_1=data.frame(sensitivity_1) colnames(sensitivity_1)=main_l #variable names sensitivity_1$group=1 #Data_source 2 sensitivity_2=rbind(sensitivity_out1[3:4,],sensitivity_out2[3:4,]) sensitivity_2=data.frame(sensitivity_2) colnames(sensitivity_2)=main_l sensitivity_2$group=2 sensitivity_pool=rbind(sensitivity_1,sensitivity_2) sensitivity_pool_m=melt(sensitivity_pool,id.vars="group") ggplot(data = sensitivity_pool_m, aes(x = variable, y = value)) + geom_boxplot(aes( fill= group), width = 0.8) Error: "Error in unit(tic_pos.c, "mm") : 'x' and 'units' must have length > 0" Update Figure out the error. • Using the stadard Java logging, is it possible to restart logs after a certain period?

    - by Fry
I have some java code that will be running as an importer for data for a much larger project. The initial logging code was done with the java.util.logging classes, so I'd like to keep it if possible, but it seems to be a little inadequate now given he amount of data passing through the importer. Often times in the system, the importer will get data that the main system doesn't have information for or doesn't match the system's data so it is ignored but a message is written to the log about what information was dropped and why it wasn't imported. The problem is that this tends to grow in size very quickly, so we'd like to be able to start a fresh log daily or weekly. Does anybody have an idea if this can be done in the logging classes or would I have to switch to log4j or custom? Thanks for any help!

  • Python 2D list has weird behavor when trying to modify a single value...

    - by Brian
Hi guys, So I am relatively new to Python and I am having trouble working with 2D Lists. Here's my code: data = [[None]*5]*5 data[0][0] = 'Cell A1' print data and here is the output (formatted for readability): [['Cell A1', None, None, None, None], ['Cell A1', None, None, None, None], ['Cell A1', None, None, None, None], ['Cell A1', None, None, None, None], ['Cell A1', None, None, None, None]] Why does every row get assigned the value?

  • Sessionstate not being saved between pages

    - by Grant
Hi, i am having problems with an asp.net c# site whereby i am setting a session state object to true and then redirecting to another page that needs to check the value of the session state object and it is null. Sometimes it is set correctly and other times is is simply null. When i debug on my local machine it works perfectly every time. Only when i upload to my web server does this temperamental behaviour happen. As it is based around the security of the site it is obviously important that the session data be valid and accurate every time. Is session state data unreliable? AFAIK its set to inproc, cookieless, 30 min timeout, vanilla installation of IIS. Does anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps i need to thread.sleep inbetween the storing of the session data and the reading? NB: the time between the write and the read is about 70ms.. ample time for the data to be written to RAM.....
