• django: how to interconnect various logical pieces of a webpage

  Hi, everyone. I'm just starting with django, so sorry for a possibly stupid question. Imagine, I have a webpage with 3 logical pieces: content, dynamic menu, banners. It seems ok to me to have a template with something like: {% include "banners.html" %} {% include "menu.html" %} {% include "content.html" %} But then, how do I do it? Every piece has its separate logic in a separate view in its' separate app. How do I trigger execution of all three views and render all three templates? P.S. Is there a sourceforge-like site for django apps where I could take a look at how people are doing stuff in real projects?

  I have a page that contains several forms, by submitting each one of them, next form becomes visible. the last form contains a recaptcha validator, my problem starts here, if i declare an action result for that page like this [CaptchaValidator] public ActionResult myAction(SomeModel model, string lang) { return View("towing", model); } I'm getting an argument null exeption parameter "Challenge", which in fact means that you have to POST those fields from recaptcha for the validation to appear and I cannot post anyting untill the last for is visible and posted. then I've added a news ActionResult like myActionValidated, defined a route for it like: mypage/validate pointing to that actionresult and then i don't know where to go from here, i want simply do display a message if the reCaptcha did not validate and redirect to a URL if it succeeded. I hope I made myself clear. Thank you in advance

• Save BLOB to disk as Image C#

  Hello, I am developing a web application that calls web services developed by a third party to send/receive data from a clients database. I am building the application using ASP.NET 3.5 C#. The way that they are providing me images is in BLOB format. I call their method and what I get back is a DataSet with 2 fields "logo_name" and "logo" which is the BLOB field. What I want to do is: Save the image locally on the disk (to minimize calls to their database in the future). I have been playing around with a couple of different ways of doing this but cannot seem to get the image to save correctly. I have been able to create a file in a folder with the correct name but if I try to view the image it does not work. I was hoping someone could give me some sample code to show me how to save a BLOB field to the local disk? Thanks

• linq to sql string property from non-null column with default

  I have a LINQ to SQL class "VoucherRecord" based on a simple table. One property "Note" is a string that represents an nvarchar(255) column, which is non-nullable and has a default value of empty string (''). If I instantiate a VoucherRecord the initial value of the Note property is null. If I add it using a DataContext's InsertOnSubmit method, I get a SQL error message: Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'Note', table 'foo.bar.tblVoucher'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. Why isn't the database default kicking in? What sort of query could bypass the default anyway? How do I view the generated sql for this action? Thanks for your help!

• Differences setting content in Forms.WebBrowser control via DocumentText vs. Url

  If I generate some HTML and have it in a string and then say: myWebBrowser.DocumentText = string; It seems to work just fine, except none of the images load (I get the broken image graphic). If, however, I write the string to a file and then say: myWebBrowser.Url = new Uri("file://myfile.html"); Everything works just fine. My question is, what's going on under the covers here that is different? I've verified in both cases that the path to the images (via RClick-View Source) is the same and that all the images do, indeed, exist. In both cases the HTML is exactly the same. Any light that could be shed on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

• Display using QtWebKit, whilst parsing xml

  I wish to use QtWebKit to load a url for display, but, that's the easy part, I can do that. What I wish to do is record / log xml as I go. My attention here is to record and database certain details on the fly, by recording those details. My problem is, how to do this all on the fly, without requesting the same url from the server twice, once for the xml, and the second time to view the url. My hope here, is to implement a very fast way of recording set data as the user passes over it. Take for example, rather then have to type out details displayed by a website, I wish to have those details chucked into a database as I the user views the website. Now, I am using QtWebKit, and I have everything pretty much solved viewing wise. I have a loadUrl() routine which calls load(url) inside the qwebview.h The problem is, how do I piggyback xml parsing on top of this?

• Appengine (python) returns empty for valid queries

  I've got an app with around half a million 'records', each of which only stores three fields. I'd like to look up records by a string field with a query, but I'm running into problems. If I visit the console page, manually view a record and save it (without making changes) it shows up in a query: SELECT * FROM wordEntry WHERE wordStr = 'SomeString' If I don't do this, I get 'no results'. Does appengine need time to update? If so, how much? (I was also having trouble batch deleting and modifying data, but I was able to break the problem up into smaller chunks.)

• Using Sandy 3D AS3, fill the viewport (exact fit) with multiple 3D objects.

  I'm stitching together an image using multiple instances of the sandy.primitive.Box. Each box is 96x91 while the viewport is 960x273 which should make for an exact fit if I layout the boxes in a perfect grid of 10x3. However, I can't seem to get the exact camera fieldOfView. I've tried a couple formulas (one for adjusting the "focal length" and one for adjusting the fov, directly). Both of these formulas produce a fov angle that is too narrow. // focal length (stage.stageHeight/2) / Math.tan(cam.fov / 2 * Math.PI / 180) // field of view 2 * Math.atan2( (stage.stageHeight/2), -cam.z ) * (180 / Math.PI) Another question about the same project: I need to adjust the perspective of each cube so that the image appears to be in 2D space (flat)... Any ideas on the best method for calculating such a "correction"?

• memory issue iPad 4.2 crashes

  I am developing a application which receives 600-700 KB of XML data from the server. I have to do some manipulations in that data so once received the data the memory increases to 600 KB to 2 M.B. Already view occupied 4 M.B of memory in the application. So while processing the XML data i m doing some manipulation(pre-parsing) and the memory increases to 600 K.B to 2 M.B and finally decreases to 600 K.B. due to increase in memory, application gives the memory warning. While getting memory warning i m releasing all the views in the navigation controller but it releases only 1 M.B of memory. Even though I release all the views the application is crashing. Please help me out in this issue. It happens in iPad 4.2. Thanks in advance

  Hi I have a UITableViewController where the user should be able to edit the items. In order to enable editing i use this : self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; And for everyone, how does not know where self.editButtonItem comes from, it is predefined by the SDK. So, now when I press on any item, this method is called : - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath but as soon as I hit the edit button and while editing is active, this method does not seemed to be called. Any idea what I missing ?   Hello, can anyone tell me how to view executed queries in SharePoint? I couldn't find a way to show query logs with SQL Server. As you know, SharePoint framework hides all queries from programmers.   It is very common in Rails for an objects_controller controller to have RESTful edit and destroy actions like so: def edit @object = Object.find(params[:id]) end def destroy @object = Object.find(params[:id]) @object.destroy redirect_to :back end With an associated view that provides edit and destroy links like so: <%= link_to "Edit the Object", edit_object_path(object) %> <%= link_to "Delete", object, :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :method => :delete %> And it is easy to blow this up. If I open two browser windows, A and B, destroy an object with the "Delete" link in browser A and then press the "Edit" link in browser B, the find() in the edit action throws an exception. Obviously there are several ways to deal with this in the edit action: catch the exception and recover gracefully use @object = find(:first, "conditions... etc. and test the @object before going further But seeing as this is such a common pattern, I would love to know how other folks deal with this situation.

  I'm trying to build a site based on Wordpress for a client. Eventually it will be used to publish videos which could be hosted locally, but to reduce costs it would be nicer if we could host all our videos on somewhere like YouTube or Vimeo. I'm looking for a plugin or a way of hacking an existing plugin in order to achieve this. The idea is that when we list a new item on the site, users of iTunes / iPod and any other (more) standards compliant podcatcher should be able to view the video. Ideally I'd like to get away without writing a single line of code, but that may not be possible. The best solution for me is the one which requires the least amount of work!

  Is it possible to cancel a UIView animation while it is in progress? Or would I have to drop to the CA level? i.e. I've done something like this (maybe setting an end animation action too): [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:duration]; [UIView setAnimationCurve: UIViewAnimationCurveLinear]; // other animation properties // set view properties [UIView commitAnimations]; But before the animation completes and I get the animation ended event, I want to cancel it (cut it short). But the code is not working with the latest version of Google Chrome (It works alright with Chrome 5.0.307.11 beta and all other major browsers). function createExport(text) { var target = window.open(); target.title = 'Memonaut - Exported View'; target.document.open(); target.document.write(text); target.document.close(); } Chrome now complains that the domains don't match and disallows the Javascript calls as unsafe.
