How do I tell Eclipse to automatically make suggestions as I type. A Visual Studio Intellisence-like feature with Resharper.
Currently I have to press CTRL+Space each time.
I would expect this option to exist in PHP - Editor - Save Actions but the only thing available there is to "remove trailing whitespace"...
It's available in JavaScript - Editor - Save Actions but not php :(
Is there a plugin that will let me do this?
I have a project in eclipse, that is unable to see maven dependencies. What is odd is when I build from the command line the build completes fine. They are both pointed at the same repository.
I would think that it is something with maven or project configuration but I have been through every piece with no success.
I would appreciate any help on this one.
ps using m2eclipse
I cant see any of my schemas when I try to use Eclipse data source explorer?? Its not a problem with JDBC connection because I can connect and execute SQL statements??? Its just that the tables dont appear??
You know how, in Eclipse, when you double click on a file tab (which shows the class name), the editor gets expanded to the whole screen minimizing other panels? Well normally I just double click again on the tab to restore everything, but all of the sudden double clicking again doesnt do anything (the editor remains in full screen and all other panels minimized)!
I am not sure what I did to cause this. Any ideas how to get it back to normal? Thanks.
I setup PyDev with this path for the python interpreter
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/Python
since the one under /usr/bin were alias and Eclipse won't select it. I can run my python script now but cannot run the shell as an external tool. The message I get is
variable references empty selection ${resource_loc}
Same if I use {container_loc}
Any thoughts ?

I am running Eclipse with Tomcat 5.5.
My dynamic web site project includes some JAVA code that needs external jar files. Where should I place those jar files so Apache will not giving me errors such as java.lang.ClassNotFoundException ?
Thanks on this.
How do I prevent Code Composer 4 (which is based on Eclipse) from generating its own makefile and use the one I provide instead?
Background:
I am starting a FreeRTOS project on a MSP430F5436 using Code Composer 4 and have a demo app with a supplied make file)
Thanks!
I'm aware of this topic: I've used it to change most of the editor colors, and that's great.
But that wasn't enought, there's still too much white (and I need to change it because it hurts my eyes).
I've searched in the preferences (both using Eclipse itself and editing the files) for instances of while (255,255,255) and changed them all. Looks like I'm missing something.
too much white in the UI:

totally white in this screen:

I’m getting the following error when I start Debug from the Eclipse IDE.
Message: “Failed to connect to remote VM. Connection Refused”
What could be the reason?
I'm trying to make a game in java, but I'm a bit of a newb. The game has images, and when I run the application from eclipse, they all show up fine. But when I export the project as an application, the images don't show up. When I put the application in the same folder as the images, they show up when I run the application, so someone suggested that I just need to put the image files inside my JAR. Can someone tell me how? Thank you
I have several projects in Perforce that I need to maintain in Eclipse. I did a successful import the first time, but I've since removed all projects from the workspace and deleted the Perforce files from the P4 folder. I'm not very familiar with Perforce so I'm not sure why whenever I try to re-import those projects, all I get is a .project file instead of the whole package.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Can I copy only the error message from Eclipse Problems with instead of this entire message:
Severity and Description Path Resource Location Creation Time Id
1120: Access of undefined property sort. clientApp/src Filters.mxml line 36 1270460218964 798
thanks
Can anyone help me? I am currently using eclipse java ide, and would like a plug-in that will automatically look at my classes and draw up a class diagram in UML.
any suggestions?
I've been using EasyEclispe for a long time, and I've noticed that they haven't really kept up-to-date with the main Eclipse distro. So I was wondering if anybody knew of an EasyEclipse-like distribution that would contain common things people in different areas of Java/Groovy development might need.
Is there any possible to develop the Iphone App using Eclipse IDE in Windows? Please note Windows platform has any possibility to the Iphone Development? Any Idea?
I'm developping a web application in Eclipse and I'm using maven, spring and tomcat.
Now the problem I have is that debug as = debug on server doesn't work.
I just get exceptions. (and yes I've created the server)
If I use the mvn command to compile it, put the war in my tomcat webapps dir and start my tomcat the application works fine. But for the functionallity I'm now working on debugging would be usefull.
I am running CentOS 5.5 x86_64 with JDK 1.6, Eclipse Galileo, and the 0.9.7 ADT is installed; however, after installation, the Android project type is not available. I have checked in the installed packages list and it is installed. Anybody encounter this problem before? Could it be due to my use of the 64-bit java VM that is installed on my system?
I've turned on somehow in eclipse hidden characters. It's not he the "whitspace" characters in the general editor preferences. If I turn them on, then it adds ANOTHER layer of hidden chars over the existing one.
They have things like
\r\n
Anyone know what these are.. how to remove?
Which eclipse files is it appropriate to put under source control, aside from the sources obviously. In my project, specifically, I'm wondering about:
.metadata/*
project-dir/.project
project-dir/.classpath
project-dir/.settings/*
If there are any of these for which is depends, please explain your guidelines.
In Visual Studio with Resharper I can set the project to background build as I type. A red icon on the status bar appears the instance I code something wrong. Green if all is good. It does this by compiling all the time.
Is there a way to enable this in Eclipse?
I have a php script that has the following requirement command: require_once 'HTTP/OAuth.php'; the file HTTP/OAuth.php is in php's include_path that is .:/usr/lib/php.
Nevertheless in Eclipse the require_once line is marked with the following warning: Include filename: 'HTTP/OAuth.php' doesn't exist in project:
How can I make my project see the include_path so it can find the require_once file?
Thanks
