• Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 Again ! Ubuntu 13.04 x64

  First I have to say that I tried everything written about this concept. The problem is that it stops working randomly in 3 main forms : 1 - sometimes it disconnect from wireless network and reconnect automatically 2 - sometimes it disconnect and wont connect no matter what (needs reboot) 3 - some times it's still connected but cannot ping or surf or whatever. I already tried disabling N mod using these commands : sudo modprobe -r iwlwifi modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 (or 0, whatever) it didn't help . these are the results of lspci, sudo lshw -C network, • No suspend on lid closing on a Samsung Series 5 14" NP530U4BI

  Ok, i realize I am not the only one, but I will try to provide all info possible to make it exemplary as possible and narrow down the error sources. I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 and the suspend worked fine upon having it freshly installed but now it does not anymore. The suspend option from the system power button on the top right works fine. Things I did do which I don't know if they are related: Install and remove againthe FGLRX drivers (Radeon graphic card) Install Jupiter power managment (shutting it down is not changin anything) Plug in and out an external display The configuration I know of is well set: In System Settings/Power all is set to suspend when closing lid Double checked with dconf-editor, everything set to suspend So, from here on I don't know how to proceed.. what are common problems that cause this error? • Lost WiFi after 12.10 upgrade

  I received my new Dell Vostro 2420 last week, and just got around to upgrading from 11.10 to 12.10. Unfortunately, like many others (after researching the issue), I no longer have WiFi. I have tried every sudo command given that worked for others, and still can't get my wireless to function. I am new to Linux, so any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! Edit: I can connect via ethernet, just not via wifi.   So i go to system settings in Ubuntu 12.10 and i want to install my drivers but under the Additional Drivers, My LAN doesnt work, Doesnt even pick up that im plugged in threw Ethernet cord. I have a GTX 670M with 3Gb GDDR5 for a video card and would like to use that. Just need help, pretty new to Ubuntu. • After startup, display reverts to one desktop duplicated on both screens

  I have a Samsung R530 laptop. I'm actually running Linux Mint, which is based on Ubuntu (which is why I thought it would be OK to post this here). I'm now getting exactly the same problem on Ubuntu 10.10. I've got it setup with a secondary LCD monitor, and I've changed the display settings so the laptop screen and monitor are at optimal resolution, with the desktop shared between them. After startup though (typically around 10-30 seconds) the display reverts to 1024 x 768 on both screens, and the display is duplicated (i.e. both screens show the same thing). I think this is something to do with my video card, as I had the same problem when I was running Arch Linux. Any ideas? • Wifi problems with Ubuntu 13.10

  I should probably say straight off that I am brand new to Ubuntu. I installed 13.10 alongside Windows 7 a couple of days ago and I've managed to clear up all the little problems, apart from with the wifi. My internet is fine using an ethernet cable. I can connect to the wifi, and it tells me that the signal is good, but for the vast majority of the time I can't load anything, and system monitor tells me that I am sending and receiving nothing. The problem is somewhere in Ubuntu. It works fine on Windows 7, my Android phone and all of my flatmates laptops. I know I'm not the only one with this problem, but the fixes I've seen either don't work or I don't understand them enough to carry them out. Help?   Hy guys, i'm developing a scripting engine with flex and bison and now i'm implementing the eval and load functions for this language. PS: I've succesfully implemented the include directive, but i need eval and load to work not at parsing time but execution time (kind of PHP's include/require directives).

• (illustrator scripting) how to release objects to layers(sequence) but retain object's name?

  Hi, I've asked the same question to adobe scripting forum. but seems there are not many forum users there, and I'm asking the same question here. I was writing my first illustrator script to export all layers to png files with layer structure converted to file structure. I found there are many layers that my script can't detect and found out that they are not actually layers but objects(or groups). Found a layer menu (release to layers), but doesn't quite solve the problem perfectly. initially I have this layer 001 object 01 object 1 object 2 release to layers(sequence) on object 01 gives layer 001 layer 91(whatever the layer number illustrator gives when release to layers are performed) layer 92 object 1 layer 93 object 2 now I need to convert them to (so that layer can retain the name of the object) layer 001 layer 01 layer 1 object 1 layer 2 object 2 I have hundreds of layer 001, and couple thousands of object 01, and wonder if anything can be done with script to do this... If it's possible to detect object in a script, I could rewrite the 'release to layers' functionality in script maybe. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• How to bridge Debian guest VM to VPN via Cisco AnyConnect Client running on Windows Vista host

  I am running Cisco Anyconnect VPN Client version 2.5.3054 on a laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium (version 6.0.6002) Service Pack 2. I am running the VMware Player version 4.0.2 build-591240. The host operating system running under VMware Player is Debian 6.0.2.1 i386. The laptop is connected to a wireless connection, and I can browse the web from Windows Vista using Firefox just fine. I am able to boot into the Debian VM and open up a browser and access websites on the WAN from within the VM just fine. I can ping real Linux hosts on my LAN via: ping <lan_system>.local where <lan_system> is the hostname returned from uname -a on that system on my LAN. From a DOS CMD shell, I am able to ping hosts that exist on the remote network served by the Cisco AnyConnect Client's VPN network (and without the .local suffix applied as above): ping <remote_system> However, from within the Debian VM, I expect to be able to also ping those same remote hosts (<remote_system>) that are tunnelled over the VPN set up by Cisco AnyConnect Client. Let's say that I can ping a <remote_system> called flubber from a DOS CMD prompt just fine. • How do I add a shapefile in ArcGIS via python scripting?

  I am trying to automate various tasks in ArcGIS Desktop (using ArcMap generally) with Python, and I keep needing a way to add a shape file to the current map. (And then do stuff to it, but that's another story). In an earlier call I was advised that since Intel announces the processor now it may start dispatching from the 6th. Is that true? Is HP obligated not to dispatch it before the 6th? (normally/legally or as a 'deal between gentlemen'). Does anyone know if HP dispatches normally dv7s now? Did they intentionally not dispatch them to retailers before the CES?

I need a way to extract the phone number field from UserA (user account) in DomainA and import it into UserA (contact) in DomainB. I get the logic, it's just the code (vbscript/powershell/whatever) that eludes me. The logic as I see it: Connect to source AD (ou/subtree) Extract user accounts from OU and subcontainers including first name, last name, display name, and phone number Connect to target AD (ou/subtree) Verify/match contact with extract in #2 above based on display name Update phone field with phone number in extract Write log of success and failures Anybody able to help?

• How to configure linux routing/filtering to send packets out one interface, over a bridge and into another interface on the same box

  I'm trying to test a ethernet bridging device. I have multiple ethernet ports on a linux box. I would like to send packets out one interface, say eth0 with IP 192.168.1.1, to another interface, say eth1 with IP 192.168.1.2, on the same subnet. I realize that normally you don't configure two interfaces on the same subnet, and if you do the kernel routes directly to each interface, rather than over the wire. How can I override this behavior, so that traffic to 192.168.1.2 goes out the 192.168.1.1 interface, and visa-versa? Thanks in advance!

• lm-sensors - always returns 32 degrees (celsius) for temperature

  On my VIA EPIA motherboard (using VIA VT8231 ISA bridge), I get strange output for the lm-sensors temperature reading. It always returns 32 degrees (celsius). I have previously had correct output for temperature (my munin graphs show temperatures typically in the range of 50 to 60 degrees. I've tried uninstalling (and purging) the lm-sensors package, have re-run sensors-detect a number of times and rebooted but nothing seems to change the output. I am running Ubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10). • Linux Mint 14 severe overheating

  I've tried switching to Mint (it was Mint 12) about 6 months ago, but failed to do it due to enormous overheating which made it virtually impossible to run any applications more complex than Gedit. Time had passed, and now I'm back again with Mint 14, but feeling way more determined. • My linux server takes more than an hour to boot. Suggestions?

  I am building a CentOS 5.4 system that boots off a compact flash card using a card reader that emulates an IDE drive. It literally takes about an hour to boot. The ultra-slow part occurs when Grub is loading the kernel. Once that's done, the rest of the boot process only takes about a minute to get to a login prompt. Does anyone have any suggestions? I suspect that it may have to do with UDMA. Everything IDE-related in my BIOS seems to checkout. The read performance hdparm is telling me 1.77 MB/s. Ouch!
