• What happens if you break out of a Lock() statement?

  I'm writing a program which listens to an incoming TcpClient and handles data when it arrives. The Listen() method is run on a separate thread within the component, so it needs to be threadsafe. If I break out of a do while loop while I'm within a lock() statement, will the lock be released? If not, how do I accomplish this? Thanks!   I'm making custom events for C# and sometimes it isn't working. This is how I'm making the event happen: private bool isDoorOpen; public bool IsDoorOpen { get { return isDoorOpen;} private set { isDoorOpen = value; DoorsChangeState(this, null);} } And these are the event declarations: //events public delegate void ChangedEventHandler(Elevator sender, EventArgs e); public event ChangedEventHandler PositionChanged; public event ChangedEventHandler DirectionChanged; public event ChangedEventHandler BreaksChangeState; public event ChangedEventHandler DoorsChangeState; This works as long as there are methods attached to the events, but if there isn't, it throws a null ref exception. What am I doing wrong?

• Help with memory leak (malloc)

  I'v followed a tutorial to use OGL tesselaton.   Hi I would like to know if there is any way in Java to reduce the size of an image (use any kind of compression) that was loaded as a BufferedImage and is going to be saved as an PNG.   I'm writing a Generic class as following. public class Foo<T> : where T : Bar, new() { public void MethodInFoo() { T _t = new T(); } } As you can see the object(_t) of type T is instantiated at run-time. To support instantiation of generic type T, language forces me to put new() in the class signature. I'd agree to this if Bar is an abstract class but why does it need to be so if Bar standard non-abstract class with public parameter-less constructor. compiler prompts following message if new() is not found. Cannot create an instance of the variable type 'T' because it does not have the new() constraint

  I'm brand new to acegi and relatively new to Grails. I just followed the tutorial to set up a new role and a new user. Every time I saved the user (with a role checked), it saved the user information fine, but not the role associated with the user. I finally dug into the controller code that was generated, and noticed this: private void addRoles(person) { for (String key in params.keySet()) { if (key.contains('ROLE') && 'on' == params.get(key)) { Authority.findByAuthority(key).addToPeople(person) } } } So to be sure I was interpreting it correctly, I added the word ROLE to my authorties, and it worked like a charm. Am I missing something obvious, is this a bug, or.......? The examples showed simple role names like "user" or "manager".
