  • C#: Accessing a Dictionary.Keys Key through a numeric index

    - by Michael Stum
    I'm using a Dictionary<string, int> where the int is a count of the key. Now, I need to access the last-inserted Key inside the Dictionary, but i do not know the name of it. The obvious attempt: int LastCount = mydict[mydict.keys[mydict.keys.Count]]; does not work, because Dictionary.Keys does not implement a []-indexer. I just wonder if there is any similar class? I thought about using a Stack, but that only stores a string. I could now create my own struct and then use a Stack<MyStruct>, but I wonder if there is another alternative, essentially a Dictionary that implements an []-indexer on the Keys?

  • Update a list from another list

    - by Langali
    I have a list of users in local store that I need to update from a remote list of users every once in a while. Basically: If a remote user already exists locally, update its fields. If a remote user doesn't already exist locally, add the user. If a local user doesn't appear in the remote list, deactivate or delete. If a local user also appears in the remote list, update its fields. Just a simple case of syncing the local list. Is there a better way to do this in pure Java than the following? I feel gross looking at my own code. public class User { Integer id; String email; boolean active; //Getters and Setters....... public User(Integer id, String email, boolean active) { this.id = id; this.email = email; this.active = active; } @Override public boolean equals(Object other) { boolean result = false; if (other instanceof User) { User that = (User) other; result = (this.getId() == that.getId()); } return result; } } public static void main(String[] args) { //From 3rd party List<User> remoteUsers = getRemoteUsers(); //From Local store List<User> localUsers =getLocalUsers(); for (User remoteUser : remoteUsers) { boolean found = false; for (User localUser : localUsers) { if (remoteUser.equals(localUser)) { found = true; localUser.setActive(remoteUser.isActive()); localUser.setEmail(remoteUser.getEmail()); //update } break; } if (!found) { User user = new User(remoteUser.getId(), remoteUser.getEmail(), remoteUser.isActive()); //Save } } for(User localUser : localUsers ) { boolean found = false; for(User remoteUser : remoteUsers) { if(localUser.equals(remoteUser)) { found = true; localUser.setActive(remoteUser.isActive()); localUser.setEmail(remoteUser.getEmail()); //Update } break; } if(!found) { localUser.setActive(false); // Deactivate } } }

  • Passing arguments by value or by reference in objective C

    - by Rafael
    Hello, I'm kind of new with objective c and I'm trying to pass an argument by reference but is behaving like it were a value. Do you know why this doesn't work? This is the function: - (void) checkRedColorText:(UILabel *)labelToChange { NSComparisonResult startLaterThanEnd = [startDate compare:endDate]; if (startLaterThanEnd == NSOrderedDescending){ labelToChange.textColor = [UIColor redColor]; } else{ labelToChange.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; } } And this the call: UILabel *startHourLabel; (this is properly initialized in other part of the code) [self checkRedColorText:startHourLabel]; Thanks for your help

  • Calling WCF Service from Action Script 2

    - by Frank
    Hi All, I am a .NET programmer working with a Flash designer on a project. The design is that they will create a flash UI (implemented with AS2) to present a questionnaire. After it is completed by an end user, the will send me (a .net web service of some form) the answers to the questionnaire, I will perform a calculation, and I will send a response back (the response will likely be a single integer, though it may be a touple of (integer score, string description). Neither myself nor the designer is knowledgeable of Action Script. Does anyone have a snippet for such web service calls in AS2? Are there any soap libraries for AS2 that we could use, or should I expose a RESTful interface? Can it be as simple as having the designer concat the questionnaire answers into the query string of the service URL? What would be a typical data format for my response (xml, json, plain text) Thanks in advance for your help. Frank

  • SmtpClient.SendAsync code review

    - by Lieven Cardoen
    I don't know if this is the way it should be done: { ... var client = new SmtpClient {Host = _smtpServer}; client.SendCompleted += SendCompletedCallback; var userState = mailMessage; client.SendAsync(mailMessage, userState); ... } private static void SendCompletedCallback(object sender, AsyncCompletedEventArgs e) { // Get the unique identifier for this asynchronous operation. var mailMessage= (MailMessage)e.UserState; if (e.Cancelled) { Log.Info(String.Format("[{0}] Send canceled.", mailMessage)); } if (e.Error != null) { Log.Error(String.Format("[{0}] {1}", mailMessage, e.Error)); } else { Log.Info("Message sent."); } mailMessage.Dispose(); } Disposing the mailMessage after the client.SendAsync(...) throws an error. So I need to dispose it in the Callback handler.

  • Enhance Localization performances? (ComponentResourceManager.ApplyResources)

    - by Srodriguez
    Dear all, After experiencing some performances issues on my client side, we decided to give a try to some of the performance profilers to try to find the bottleneck or identify the guilty parts of the code. Of course, as many performance investigations, the problems comes from various things, but something I find out is that the ComponentResourceManager.ApplyResources of my user controls takes way too much time in the construction of my forms: more than 24% of the construction time is spent in the ApplyResources inside the InitializeComponent(). This seems rather a lot for only "finding a resource string and putting it in it's container". What is exactly done in the ComponentResourceManager.ApplyResources ? I guess more than searching the string, if not it wouldn't take that long. Is there a way to enhance the performances of the localization? Our software is localized in several languages, so we do need to keep this multi-lingual feature. Any recommendations regarding this issue? Thanks! PS: We are coding in C#, .NET 3.5 SP1.

  • Custom JComponent not displaying in Custom JPanel

  • .net XML serialization: how to specify an array's root element and child element names

    - by Jeremy
    Consider the following serializable classes: class Item {...} class Items : List<Item> {...} class MyClass { public string Name {get;set;} public Items MyItems {get;set;} } I want the serialized output to look like: <MyClass> <Name>string</Name> <ItemValues> <ItemValue></ItemValue> <ItemValue></ItemValue> <ItemValue></ItemValue> </ItemValues> </MyClass> Notice the element names ItemValues and ItemValue doesn't match the class names Item and Items, assuming I can't change the Item or Items class, is there any why to specify the element names I want, by modifying the MyClass Class?

  • Delphi 2010 - Decode Base64 encoded image from XML doc

    - by James
    I am trying to decode a base64 encoded EMF image from an XML document in my application and render it on screen, however, it never seems to appear. If I copy/paste the data from the XML document into Notepad++ and use the Base64 Decode option and save the file as a .emf it opens fine in mspaint. So I think the issue is how I am decoding it. I have tried the following decode methods described in these articles: How to encode / decode Base 64 string http://www.swissdelphicenter.ch/torry/showcode.php?id=1223 I have also tried the TIdDecoderMIME class to no avail. Does anyone know the most reliable way of decoding a base64 encoded string from XML?

  • Remove duplicates from DataTable and custom IEqualityComparer<DataRow>

    - by abatishchev
    How have I to implement IEqualityComparer<DataRow> to remove duplicates rows from a DataTable with next structure: ID primary key, col_1, col_2, col_3, col_4 The default comparer doesn't work because each row has it's own, unique primary key. How to implement IEqualityComparer<DataRow> that will skip primary key and compare only data remained. I have something like this: public class DataRowComparer : IEqualityComparer<DataRow> { public bool Equals(DataRow x, DataRow y) { return x.ItemArray.Except(new object[] { x[x.Table.PrimaryKey[0].ColumnName] }) == y.ItemArray.Except(new object[] { y[y.Table.PrimaryKey[0].ColumnName] }); } public int GetHashCode(DataRow obj) { return obj.ToString().GetHashCode(); } } and public static DataTable RemoveDuplicates(this DataTable table) { return (table.Rows.Count > 0) ? table.AsEnumerable().Distinct(new DataRowComparer()).CopyToDataTable() : table; } but it calls only GetHashCode() and doesn't call Equals()

  • App.Config Ignored After Pre-Build Event

    - by Jake Hulse
    I have a solution with several projects and several developers, each with their own environment (of course). To manage connection strings between each environment, I have created several app.config files for each environment: app.config.dev, app.config.qa, etc. The pre-build event simply copies the app.config.$(ConfigurationName) to app.config. This pre-build event is done for each project in the solution, and the config string is included in each (including the test project). When I use the pre-build events to manage the app.config files, the connection string cannot be found. I can get the tests to run fine by 2 methods: 1. Do not use the pre-build events to manage the app.config file selection, and do it myself or 2. If I check out app.config and make it writable, then the pre-build events work just fine. We are using Visual Studio 2008. I'm down to my last grey hair here, any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Binding Contents of a ListBox to Selected Item from Another Listbox w/JSF & Managed Beans

    - by nieltown
    Hi there! I currently have a JSF application that uses two listboxes. The first, say ListBox1, contains a list of manufacturers; each option comes from the database (via a method getManufacturers in a class called QueryUtil), is populated dynamically, and its value is an integer ID. This part works so far. My goal is to populate a second listbox, say ListBox2, with a list of products sold by the manufacturer. This list of products will come from the database as well (products are linked to a manufacturer via a foreign key relationship, via a method getProducts in my QueryUtil class). How do I go about doing this? Please bear in mind that I've been working with JSF for under 24 hours; I'm willing to accept the fact that I'm missing something very rudimentary. Again, I've been able to populate the list of manufacturers just fine; unfortunately, adding the Products component gives me java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: argument type mismatch faces-config.xml <managed-bean> <managed-bean-name>ProductsBean</managed-bean-name> <managed-bean-class>com.nieltown.ProductsBean</managed-bean-class> <managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope> <managed-property> <property-name>manufacturers</property-name> <property-class>java.util.ArrayList</property-class> <value>#{manufacturers}</value> </managed-property> <managed-property> <property-name>selectedManufacturer</property-name> <property-class>java.lang.Integer</property-name> <value>#{selectedManufacturer}</value> </managed-property> <managed-property> <property-name>products</property-name> <property-class>java.util.ArrayList</property-class> <value>#{products}</value> </managed-property> <managed-property> <property-name>selectedProduct</property-name> <property-class>java.lang.Integer</property-name> <value>#{selectedProducts}</value> <managed-property> </managed-bean> com.nieltown.ProductsBean public class ProductsBean { private List<SelectItem> manufacturers; private List<SelectItem> products; private Integer selectedManufacturer; private Integer selectedProduct; public ProductsBean() {} public Integer getSelectedManufacturer(){ return selectedManufacturer; } public void setSelectedManufacturer(Integer m){ selectedManufacturer = m; } public Integer getSelectedProduct(){ return selectedProduct; } public void setSelectedProduct(Integer p){ selectedProduct = p; } public List<SelectItem> getManufacturers(){ if(manufacturers == null){ SelectItem option; plans = new ArrayList<SelectItem>(); QueryUtil qu = new QueryUtil(); Map<Integer, String> manufacturersMap = qu.getManufacturers(); for(Map.Entry<Integer, String> entry : manufacturersMap.entrySet()){ option = new SelectItem(entry.getKey(),entry.getValue()); manufacturers.add(option); } } return manufacturers; } public void setManufacturers(List<SelectItem> l){ manufacturers = l; } public List<SelectItem> getProducts(){ if(products == null){ SelectItem option; products = new ArrayList<SelectItem>(); if(selectedPlan != null){ PMTQueryUtil pqu = new PMTQueryUtil(); Map<Integer, String> productsMap = pqu.getProducts(); for(Map.Entry<Integer, String> entry : productsMap.entrySet()){ option = new SelectItem(entry.getKey(),entry.getValue()); products.add(option); } } } return products; } public void setProducts(List<SelectItem> l){ products = l; } } JSP fragment <h:selectOneListbox id="manufacturerList" value="#{ProductsBean.selectedManufacturer}" size="10"> <f:selectItems value="#{ProductsBean.manufacturers}" /> </h:selectOneListbox> <h:selectOneListbox id="productList" value="#{PendingPlansBean.selectedProduct}" size="10"> <f:selectItems binding="#{ProductsBean.products}" /> </h:selectOneListbox>

  • Entity Framework: How to bind related products

    - by Waheed
    I am using the following Linq query from p in Product.Include("ProductDetails.Colors") where p.ProductID.Equals(18) select p; And then using the result of this query to bind the GridView. The productDetails are bind to the grid fine, but the Colors are not bind. To bind colors i am using <%# Eval("Colors.CategoryName") %. Error is " Field or property with the name 'Colors.CategoryName' was not found on the selected data source." But in a loop i am getting this fine. foreach (ProductDetails proDet in pd.ProductDetails) { string bar = proDet.BarCode; string color = proDet.Colors.CategoryName; }

  • Using Lite Version of Entity in nHibernate Relations?

    - by Amitabh
    Is it a good idea to create a lighter version of an Entity in some cases just for performance reason pointing to same table but with fewer columns mapped. E.g If I have a Contact Table which has 50 Columns and in few of the related entities I might be interested in FirstName and LastName property is it a good idea to create a lightweight version of Contact table. E.g. public class ContactLite { public int Id {get; set;} public string FirstName {get; set;} public string LastName {get; set;} } Also is it possible to map multiple classes to same table?

  • Location.getTime() returning a future time.

    - by fiXedd
    The following code: // get the last known location Criteria c = new Criteria(); c.setAccuracy(Criteria.ACCURACY_FINE); Location lastKnown = mLocationManager.getLastKnownLocation(mLocationManager.getBestProvider(c, true)); // compare times long currentTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); long gpsTime = lastKnown.getTime(); long age = (currentTime - gpsTime) / 1000; Gives me: currentTime = 1270062152738 gpsTime = 1270085378000 age = -23225 If you'll notice, it's returning the last location fix's time as a time in the future. Why is this happening? EDIT: From Location.getTime() : Returns the UTC time of this fix, in milliseconds since January 1, 1970. From System.currentTimeMillis() : Returns the current system time in milliseconds since January 1, 1970 00:00:00 UTC. This method shouldn't be used for measuring timeouts or other elapsed time measurements, as changing the system time can affect the results.

  • F# vs Haskell vs Lisp - which language to learn?

    - by empi
    I've heard a lot about functional programming languages and I'm willing to learn one. I guess it will be mostly for fun, however, I hope it will improve my programming skills. I have mostly C#/.NET background, so my first choice is to learn F# (because of .NET and familiarity with Visual Studio). On the on other hand, I wonder if F# has features like Lisp macros or Haskell higher order functions. Could you compare F#, Haskell and Lisp? Which one will be the language of your choice?

  • Folder.Bind - "Id is malformed" - Exchange Web Services Managed API

    - by Michael Shimmins
    I'm passing the Folder.Id.UniqueId property of a folder retrieved from a FindFolders query via the query string to another page. On this second page I want to use that UniqueId to bind to the folder to list its mail items: string parentFolderId = Request.QueryString["id"]; ... Folder parentFolder = Folder.Bind(exchangeService, parentFolderId); // do something with parent folder When I run this code it throws an exception telling me the Id is manlformed. I thought maybe it needs to be wrapped in a FolderId object: Folder parentFolder = Folder.Bind(exchangeService, new FolderId(parentFolderId)); Same issue. I've been searching for a while, and have found some suggestions about Base64/UTF8 conversion, but again that did not solve the problem. Anyone know how to bind to a folder with a given unique id?

  • ListView selection issue...Using onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, ...)

    The problem I hope to resolve here is that when I click on one item in the ListView that item's background changes to light gray, but when I continue to scroll through the list every 4th item has the background changed to light gray even though those other items have not been clicked. How do I make only the item I clicked be effected by the click? ListView lv = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.resultsList); lv.setAdapter(new ArrayAdapter(this, R.layout.resultitem, (String[])labelList.toArray(new String[labelList.size()]))); lv.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView parent, View view, int position, long id) { TextView tv = (TextView)view.findViewById(R.id.result); tv.setBackgroundColor(Color.LTGRAY); tv.setTextColor(Color.BLACK);

  • Equals method of System.Collections.Generic.List<T>...?

It would be nice to simply call... MyList l1 = new MyList() { new MyListItem(1), new MyListItem(2) }; MyList l2 = new MyList() { new MyListItem(1), new MyListItem(2) }; if (l1 == l2) { ... } ...and have the comparisons of the list done by value. We can't simply put a tag, or a javascript:alert(); call, because value will be interpreted as a string, and htmlspecialchars filters out the <,,',", so We can't close off the value with quotations. We can use String.fromCode(.....) to get around the quotes, but I still unable to get a simple alert box to pop up. Any ideas?
