  • Save open emails when exiting Outlook 2007?

    I use open emails as my todo list in Outlook 2007. For instance, when I look at my Inbox in the morning, I open all emails which I need to respond to, and throughout the day read, respond to and close each one. It's an odd system but it's how I manage my emails. Are there any addons available which will save open emails and reopen them if Outlook is restarted? I'm looking for behavior like Firefox's tabs, which will reopen each one if the process gets killed.

    I am trying to get client validation working in MVC3 using data annotations. I have looked at similar posts including this MVC3 Client side validation not working for the answer. I'm using an EF data model. I created a partial class like this for my validations.   • Notepad++: is there a way to force it to keep the autoindented-whitespace type?

    I wonder if we can force notepad++ to respect the previous whitespace character when it autoindents a new line: list[CR][LF] ····item1[CR][LF] ····item2[CR][LF] --->| (notepadd++ screenshot recreation showing hidden characters, because I don't have enough reputation to post images, sorry xP) If I am indenting with tabs I want a tab when notepad++ does an autoindent. But if I am indenting with spaces, I do want spaces.

    I've got this in my controller: [HttpPost] public void UpdateLanguagePreference(string languageTag) { if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(languageTag)) { throw new ArgumentNullException("languageTag"); } ... } And have this jQuery code POSTing to the controller: jQuery.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: '/Config/UpdateLanguagePreference', contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', data: '{ "languageTag": "' + selectedLanguage + '" }' }); When I try to the code, however, I get the error: Server Error in '/' Application. Value cannot be null. Parameter name: languageTag What's the problem? Isn't this how to POST JSON to an MVC Controller? I can examine the POST using Fiddler and see that the request is correct. For some reason, UpdateLanguagePreference() is getting a null or empty string.

    Hi, I am using GWT with GWT-EXT running in glassfish. I create 2 combo boxes as follows: import com.extjs.gxt.ui.client.widget.form.ComboBox; import com.extjs.gxt.ui.client.widget.form.SimpleComboBox; this.contentPanel = new ContentPanel(); this.contentPanel.setFrame(true); this.contentPanel.setSize((int)(Window.getClientWidth()*0.95), 600); this.contentPanel.setLayout(new FitLayout()); initWidget(this.contentPanel); SimpleComboBox<String> combo = new SimpleComboBox<String>(); combo.setEmptyText("Select a topic..."); combo.add("String1"); combo.add("String2"); this.contentPanel.add(combo); ComboBox combo1 = new ComboBox(); combo1.setEmptyText("Select a topic..."); ListStore topics = new ListStore(); topics.add("String3"); topics.add("String4"); combo.setStore(topics); this.contentPanel.add(combo1); When these are loaded in the browser (IE 8.0, Firefox 3.6.6 or Chrome 10.0) the combo boxes are shown but don't have the pull down arrow. They look like a text field with the "Select a topic..." text. When you select the text it disappears and if you type a character and then delete it the options are shown (i.e. pull down is invoked) however, there is still no pull down arrow. Does anyone know what the issue might be? Or how I can investigate further? Is it possible to see the actual HTML the browser is getting, when I View Page Source I only get the landing page HTML. As an additional I also have a import com.google.gwt.user.client.ui.Grid that does not render correctly. It is in table format but has no grid lines or header bar etc. Cheers, James

  • Symfony : ajax call cause server to queue next queries

    Hello, I've a problem with my application when an ajax call on the server takes too much time : it queue all the others queries from the user until it's done server side (I realized that canceling the call client side has no effect and the user still have to wait). Here is my test case : <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.4.1.min.js"></script> <a href="another-page.php">Go to another page on the same server</a> <script type="text/javascript"> url = 'http://localserver/some-very-long-complex-query'; $.get(url); </script> So when the get is fired and then after I click on the link, the server finish serving the first call before bringing me to the other page. My problem is that I want to avoid this behavior. I'm on a LAMP server and I'm looking in a way to inform the server that the user aborted the query with function like connection_aborted(), do you think that's the way to go ? Also, I know that the longest part of this PHP script is a MySQL query, so even if I know that connection_aborted() can detect that the user cancel the call, I still need to check this during the MySQL query... I'm not really sure that PHP can handle this kind of "event". So if you have any better idea, I can't wait to hear it. Thank you. Update : After further investigation, I found that the problem happen only with the Symfony framework (that I omitted to precise, my bad). It seems that an Ajax call lock any other future call. It maybe related to the controller or the routing system, I'm looking into it. Also for those interested by the problem here is my new test case : -new project with Symfony 1.4.3, default configuration, I just created an app and a default module. -jquery 1.4 for the ajax query.     iPHone: We use MonoTouch, but Obj-C answers are ok. My singleton domain object takes a while to get all the data so it runs internally parts of the fetch in a thread. I need to inform the UI that the domain is done. Currently I do this. Is there a better way? In WinForms I would call Application.DoEvents() instead of Thread Sleep.   • How to simulate htaccess for auth with IIS without having access to the server config ?

    Hi, I need to put a website on windows server IIS, i'd like to use basic authentification like i'd do with Apache, with the .htaccess / .htpasswd I read here & there, that i could do this through the admin tabs of IIS, but i'm not the administrator, and i only have ftp access. It seems to be a 'web.config' file where i could do this. Is there a way to set up such things within a config file ? I'm not used to work with IIS...

  • Windows XP: Make Google Chrome's minimize, restore and close buttons match other programs?

    I like the way Google Chrome puts the tabs above the address bar, but I don't like the way the minimize, restore, close buttons are a different shape to every other program's. It means that if I sit the mouse in the top corner and minimize everything, I find that I've restored Chrome, not minimized it. Is there any way to get these buttons to a normal shape and size? That's Firefox in front, looking normal, like every other program, and Chrome above and behind, with the buttons at an off-standard position and size.

    I wrote few custom view helpers but I have a little trouble using them. If I add the helper path in controller action like this: public function fooAction() { $this->view->addHelperPath('My/View/Helper', 'My_View_Helper'); } Then I can use the views from that path without a problem. '/js/jquery-ui/jquery.js'); $this->view->headMeta()->appendHttpEquiv('Content-Type', 'text/html; charset=UTF-8'); $this->view->headMeta()->appendHttpEquiv('Content-Style-Type', 'text/css'); $this->view->headMeta()->appendHttpEquiv('Content-Language', 'sk'); $this->view->headLink()->appendStylesheet($this->view->baseUrl() . '/css/reset.css'); $this->view->addHelperPath('My/View/Helper', 'My_View_Helper'); } Then the view helpers don't work. Why is that? It's too troublesome to add the path in every controller action.     Using Qt 4.6, I can dynamically add to an HTML page like this: ui->webView->page()->mainFrame()->documentElement().findFirst("body").appendInside("<i>some text</i>\n"); However, if I QWebView::load() an XML file, it displays it with the correct CSS styling (from an processing instruction), but doesn't show any changes when I do something like: ui->webView->page()->mainFrame()->documentElement().findFirst("lines").appendInside("<line>hello</line>\n"); Why is it treating them differently, and is there a way to modify an XML document in the same way I can an HTML one?

    I realize for single applications - the application itself has to be designed to take advantage of multiple cores. But what about executing many different applications simultaneously? On my development machine at an average instance, I run multiple servers (a database server, a web server), multiple instance of IDEs (either Visual Studio or NetBeans), Web-browser with multiple tabs (in Chrome, each tab is a process on its own), FTP client, SSH client etc. Does having a multi-core system improve the ability to run multiple applications simultaneously?

  • New to C# and trying to use a global variable

    Is it possible to use global variables in C#? I'm coming from mainly a PHP background so variables are either accessible everywhere or just a global definition away. My main issue is I have a User class that I built myself to wrap around the current users table on my company's database. I am defining it in the MasterPage but can't seem to access it from the actual pages (I don't know if there's a better word to describe them but they are the pages that inherit the styles and format from the MasterPage) Any general tips or implementation practices for me? My active screen session has not been update to the new groups: $groups A B C D $screen -r $groups A B C Without closing my screen session is there a way for me to use my new privileges in the screen session?     Environment: ASP.NET web applicaition jQuery, ASP.NET AJAX Currently using ASP.NET Web Services The title says it all. One, how do i create an ASP.NET web service that is asynchronous? I've seen many articles, that show example with IAsyncResult and BeginMyWebServiceMethod and EndMyWebServiceMethod, some using ThreadPool etc. I would just like to know what is the simplest way to make an asynchronous web service method call (ideally without having to implement other classes, if possible). To me it should be as simple as adding an attribute to the method (but I think that is wishful thinking), e.g. public SomeWebService : WebService { [Asynchronous] public static bool SomeCheck() { // code } } I'm open to using WCF if that makes it easier (we converted to ASP.NET 3.5 around Christmas time). Once I have the asynchronous web service created, what is the best way to call it from client-side script? Via jQuery's $ajax or ASP.NET's auto generated class for a web service that is script method?

  • Viewing, building & debugging Borland C++ Builder project in Visual Studio 2010

    I would like to use VC2010 to handle a BCB 2006 project I have. I do not want to convert the code to VC since much UI will need to be ported. I just want to be able to view build & debug from VS IDE. Viewing: I assume once I create VS projects for the native BCB code viewing will be possible, although the UI editor will not. Building: I found the "C++ Native Multi-Targeting" option of VS, although I'm not sure on what to set the different options there to (Daffodil is mentioned as helpful although I'm not sure what the added value is over existing functionality). Debugging: not sure how to do this at all from within VS. There are some stand alone console tools that convert debug info files e.g. tds2pdb (wheres the documentation link?). If anyone has experience with such a task I would thank you for any advice.
