  • Definitive download location for MBSA "wsusscn2.cab" file for offline mode scans?

    - by Chris W. Rea
I'm running Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.1 against some servers that don't have outbound access to the Internet, by design of firewall restrictions, and therefore I'm wishing to run MBSA in offline mode. In order to do so, I need the list of updates in the file named "wsusscn2.cab". Is there a well-known page or URL at Microsoft for downloading the most up-to-date version of that file for MBSA offline mode? Thank you.

  • Exchange 2003 Sending Double E-mails?

    - by Beuy
Hello there, We have an exchange 2003 single-machine setup that is behaving very oddly. For various users it sends the same e-mail twice (I've checked the logs and each e-mail has a unique mail identifier which confirms that the problem is not the same e-mail being received twice, but it being sent twice) I've done a quick search and found tons of information regarding POP3/IMAP connectors etc, however these Employes are using Outlook 2003/2007 in Cached Mode. The Symantec AntiVirus for Mail is also not causing the issue, it's correctly scanning both e-mails coming through. Any ideas?

  • User for MSSQL 2008 Service Accounts

    - by Campo
I want to create a Domain User that runs the SQL Service Accounts. The reason for this is that I have setup mirroring and MS recommends having the same user (a domain user account) running the services across all the the computers in the configuration to ensure mirroring will work properly. Right now in the test environment I just had them run under my user for simplicity. But now that I know what I am doing I would like to test the configuration more accurately. I am also aware that it makes things much simpler if this user is an administrator. My question is. Should I just create a simple user SQLSERVICEUSER and make it an administrator? Seems a little insecure to me. Anyone have a more elegant solution?

  • Keepalived alternative for Solaris 10

    - by antispam
We are considering an architecture like the one in the picture for Solaris 10 That is, high avalaibility software load balancers in front of web and application servers. Unfortunately, Keepalived is not available for Solaris at the moment. Is there an equivalent artifact for substituing Keepalived which is supported in Solaris 10? Is there an equivalent architecture for Solaris using HA SW load balancing? Thank you.

  • Apache Mod_rewrite rule working on one server, but not another

    - by Mason
I am using mod_jk and mod_rewrite on httpd 2.2.15. I have a rule.... RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/video/play\.xhtml.* RewriteRule ^/video/(.*) /video/play.xhtml?vid=$1 [PT] I just want to rewrite something like /video/videoidhere to /video/play.xhtml?vid=videoidhere This works perfectly on my developer machine, but on production I get a 404 (generated by Jboss, not Apache). here is the tail of access.log and rewrite.log on prod (broken). the rewrite.log is exactly the same on dev(working) applying pattern '^/video/(.*)' to uri '/video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b' RewriteCond: input='/video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b' pattern='!^/video/play\.xhtml.*' => matched rewrite '/video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b' -> '/video/play.xhtml?vid=46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b' split uri=/video/play.xhtml?vid=46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b -> uri=/video/play.xhtml, args=vid=46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b forcing '/video/play.xhtml' to get passed through to next API URI-to-filename handler "GET /video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b HTTP/1.1" 404 420 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100628 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.6" I can access http://www.fivi.com/video/play.xhtml?vid=46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b but not /video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b Both server are even using the EXACT same httpd.conf, and modules. • How to access shared files in two different domains

    - by Sundeep
There are two internal domains, domainA and domainB at my workplace. I could remote into machines from either domains by using respective credentials. My doubt is if I create a shared folder on domainA with read access to everyone for e.g., \\server1.domainA.net\sharedfolder. Will I be able to access this folder by just entering the path likewise from any machine in domainB without entering credentials.

  • When does ISC dhcpd expire leases

    - by Joachim Breitner
When exactly does ISC dhcpd forget a lease that is not explicitly freed by the client? Context: I am running an installation with many small pools (3 address) and it does not seem to cope well when all three leases are taken. Nevertheless I see entries in dhcpd.leases-file whose end date has passed. Also, these entries are counted towards the number of used leases for the adaptive lease time feature. Shouldn’t these be considered unused?

  • How to update terminal services client

    - by Owl
Currently running 5.2 on Server2003 R2 with XP SP2 & SP3 workstations that connect to it. Do the workstations have to use the updated (6.0) to be compatible? Will it mess with everyone's connection if I do the update while they are logged on? Reason for update is that people are complaining to me about grid lines that sometimes appear on the screen, researched that, and updating RDP client is my solution.

  • Remote hosts accessing AD's registry

    - by smitty user
I have a situation here. I have an intrusion detection system and it constantly alerts me that a remote host is accessing our AD's registry remotely. Our remote hosts are mainly Windows XP and our ADs are W2K8. The remote hosts access them over SMB port 445 Is it normal for Windows hosts to access AD's remote registry? My colleagues confirmed with me that both host and AD is clean from virus with endpoint protection enabled. Thanks.

  • WHS - client does not shutdown after backup

    - by justjoshingyou
I have my WHS/Win 7 laptop configured to do automatic backups through the connector. The backups run just fine every night. I put my computer in hibernate when I go to bed, it wakes and runs the backups, but then it doesn't go back into hibernate or shutdown. I'd like to be able to force it to shutdown after the backups are completed. I don't see a scheduled task in the system for the WHS backups. Any idea how I can get my laptop to shutdown after the backups are complete? Thanks.

  • adding trac to apache2 configuration file

    - by Michael
I currently have apache2 running from a mythtv/mythweb install. This made two config files available in sites-enabled. One of them ("default-mythbuntu") has the VirtualHost directive and seems like a normal file (except a change to the directory index). There is also a mythweb.conf file that only has directives and sets various variables for mythweb. I want to host a trac site as well. According to this site: http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracOnUbuntu there are some setting I need to set for the Trac site. They give me directions for making a VirtualHost, but I think I should use the current VirtualHost and just add the directives (I'll need to change the default location they point to from the site above to just point to the trac location). Where should I put these directives? Can I make a Trac.conf with just the settings for Trac and enable it, or do I need to put them in the default-mythbuntu file? I don't like that later because it doesn't separate out the Trac configs. How does Apache know that the mythweb (and the trac.conf I want to make) belong to the virtualhost defined in the default-mythbuntu? It is the only virtualhost that is being defined on my system if that matters.

  • Remote site AD design (2003)

    - by Boy Mars
A remote site has about 25 of our 50-ish employees. They have their own AD domain presently (2003) but I want to look at getting them onto the same global domain for ease of access/administration. The remote site has a VPN link but line speeds are very poor. I am already aware of tools like ADMT and have done a few migrations in the past (NT/2003 domains), but this is the first time I have the luxury of designing how this domain is organised. So I'm looking for tips on good AD design; would a remote site be better served as a sub-domain? would this reduce traffic? I am only currently looking at 2003 since only existing machine will be used.

  • Kerberos Policy section not appearing in RSop / GPResult

    - by Chloraphil
I am attempting to confirm via RSoP or GPResult that the correct settings for "\Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Account Policies\Kerberos Policy" are being applied, however the "Kerberos Policy" node is missing from the treeview / report. These settings are set in the "Default Domain Controllers Policy" which is linked in the "Domain Controllers" OU. Should "Kerberos Policy" appear at all? If not, how can I confirm the correct settings are being applied?

Is there any solution that addresses this problem?

  • Does psexec support input redirection?

I am trying to control a remote Python script, which reads commands from stdin, via psexec 1.98, but I need to redirect psexec's input since psexec itself will be launched from another program. However, I have no luck making psexec accept redirected input. Is it supposed to work at all? An example of what I'm trying to do, where input is a file containing input to the remote script: psexec \\mymachine python c:\script.py < input

  • Permissions for Scheduled Tasks on a Domain Controller

    - by silmaril8n
I'm trying to run a Scheduled Task on a 2008 R2 Domain Controller and all was well until I set it into the production environment. I'm running the task as a Domain User that's defined in the "Log on as a batch job" setting. For giggles I also added the account to "Allow log on locally" after the former failed. When I'm prompted for the password after setting up the task I receive the error: "An error has occurred for the task ########. Error message: The following error was reported: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.." I'm thinking that because this a DC that maybe it needs something else?

Can anyone shed any light on why the dependencies might not be resolved correctly? ldd /usr/sbin/httpd libm.so.6 => /lib64/libm.so.6 (0x00002b02370db000) libpcre.so.0 => /lib64/libpcre.so.0 (0x00002b023735e000) libselinux.so.1 => /lib64/libselinux.so.1 (0x00002b023757a000) libaprutil-1.so.0 => not found libcrypt.so.1 => /lib64/libcrypt.so.1 (0x00002b0237793000) libldap-2.3.so.0 => /usr/lib64/libldap-2.3.so.0 (0x00002b02379cb000) liblber-2.3.so.0 => /usr/lib64/liblber-2.3.so.0 (0x00002b0237c06000) libdb-4.3.so => /lib64/libdb-4.3.so (0x00002b0237e14000) libexpat.so.0 => /lib64/libexpat.so.0 (0x00002b0238109000) libapr-1.so.0 => not found libpthread.so.0 => /lib64/libpthread.so.0 (0x00002b023832c000) libdl.so.2 => /lib64/libdl.so.2 (0x00002b0238547000) libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x00002b023874c000) libsepol.so.1 => /lib64/libsepol.so.1 (0x00002b0238aa3000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00002b0236ebe000) libresolv.so.2 => /lib64/libresolv.so.2 (0x00002b0238ce9000) libsasl2.so.2 => /usr/lib64/libsasl2.so.2 (0x00002b0238eff000) libssl.so.6 => /lib64/libssl.so.6 (0x00002b0239118000) libcrypto.so.6 => /lib64/libcrypto.so.6 (0x00002b0239364000) libgssapi_krb5.so.2 => /usr/lib64/libgssapi_krb5.so.2 (0x00002b02396b6000) libkrb5.so.3 => /usr/lib64/libkrb5.so.3 (0x00002b02398e4000) libcom_err.so.2 => /lib64/libcom_err.so.2 (0x00002b0239b79000) libk5crypto.so.3 => /usr/lib64/libk5crypto.so.3 (0x00002b0239d7c000) libz.so.1 => /usr/lib64/libz.so.1 (0x00002b0239fa1000) libkrb5support.so.0 => /usr/lib64/libkrb5support.so.0 (0x00002b023a1b5000) libkeyutils.so.1 => /lib64/libkeyutils.so.1 (0x00002b023a3be000) yet this is the i386 package apr-util-1.2.7-11.el5.i386 : Apache Portable Runtime Utility library Repo : installed Matched from: Filename : /usr/lib/libaprutil-1.so.0

  • Do parent website application pools serve child application pools as well?

    - by Mike G
I am running a .NET web application in its own application pool on IIS7. The parent website is set to run in its own application pool. Today we noticed a huge number of connections going to IIS. I tried to browse a plain ol' .html page in the directory of the web application and it hangs. I then try to browse another plain .html file in the root of the parent website, and it too hangs. In performance monitor, i see there are some 8k connections to the default website and climbing. I cant seem to understand if my application was the problem, or IIS itself. If it was my application, wouldnt the html page in the root of the parent website still be able to be served? edit: Also, if i shut down the app pool to my application, the html page on the root of the parent website is still not able to be displayed.
