• What is the difference between a generic type and a generic type definition?

  I'm Studying up on .net reflection and am having a hard time figuring out the difference. From what I understand, List is a generic type definition. Does that mean that to .net reflection T is the generic type? Specifically, I guess I'm looking for more background on the Type.IsGenericType and Type.IsGenericTypeDefinition functions. Thanks!

• Exchange server actively refuses my connection

  I'm writing a ASP.NET application used within our company. Now I want to send emails to some users via a email account on our exchange server. I tried to use System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient, where a proprietary account and password are given to specify the credentials. But the code failed with following exception: "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" Is that due to Exchange Server policies to prevent spam? How can I get it to work?

  I'm trying to get the same result of a .NET application (see the link Hide TabControl buttons to manage stacked Panel controls for details), but using the MONO runtime instead of the MS .NET runtime. Pratically, when the custom control is executed using the MONO runtime, the underlying message is not sent to the control, causing the tab pages to be shown... There is a portable solution which is elegant as the linked one? If it is not possible, what are possible workarounds (apart from removing/adding tabs at runtime)?

  I have a javascript action on a div (asp.net panel) as an onkeypress attribute. This is the default action button on an asp.net Panel control.
