  • SQL use comma-separated values with IN clause

    - by user342944
    I am developing an ASP.NET application and passing a string value like "1,2,3,4" into a procedure to select those values which are IN (1,2,3,4) but its saying "Conversion failed when converting the varchar value '1,2,3,4' to data type int." Here is the aspx code: private void fillRoles() { /*Read in User Profile Data from database */ Database db = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase(); DbCommand cmd = db.GetStoredProcCommand("sp_getUserRoles"); db.AddInParameter(cmd, "@pGroupIDs", System.Data.DbType.String); db.SetParameterValue(cmd, "@pGroupIDs", "1,2,3,4"); IDataReader reader = db.ExecuteReader(cmd); DropDownListRole.DataTextField = "Group"; DropDownListRole.DataValueField = "ID"; while (reader.Read()) { DropDownListRole.Items.Add((new ListItem(reader[1].ToString(), reader[0].ToString()))); } reader.Close(); } Here is my procedure: CREATE Procedure [dbo].[sp_getUserRoles](@pGroupIDs varchar(50)) AS BEGIN SELECT * FROM CheckList_Groups Where id in (@pGroupIDs) END

  • Is valgrind crazy or is this is a genuine std map iterator memory leak?

    - by Alberto Toglia
    Well, I'm very new to Valgrind and memory leak profilers in general. And I must say it is a bit scary when you start using them cause you can't stop wondering how many leaks you might have left unsolved before! To the point, as I'm not an experienced in c++ programmer, I would like to check if this is certainly a memory leak or is it that Valgrind is doing a false positive? typedef std::vector<int> Vector; typedef std::vector<Vector> VectorVector; typedef std::map<std::string, Vector*> MapVector; typedef std::pair<std::string, Vector*> PairVector; typedef std::map<std::string, Vector*>::iterator IteratorVector; VectorVector vv; MapVector m1; MapVector m2; vv.push_back(Vector()); m1.insert(PairVector("one", &vv.back())); vv.push_back(Vector()); m2.insert(PairVector("two", &vv.back())); IteratorVector i = m1.find("one"); i->second->push_back(10); m2.insert(PairVector("one", i->second)); m2.clear(); m1.clear(); vv.clear(); Why is that? Shouldn't the clear command call the destructor of every object and every vector? Now after doing some tests I found different solutions to the leak: 1) Deleting the line i-second-push_back(10); 2) adding a delete i-second; after it's been used. 3) Deleting the second vv.push_back(Vector()); and m2.insert(PairVector("two", &vv.back())); statements. Using solution 2) makes Valgring print: 10 allocs, 11 frees Is that OK? As I'm not using new why should I delete? Thanks, for any help!

  • What does this recursive function do?

    - by null
    What does this function do? And how do you evaluate it? How to trace it? How to understand recursive method? I just can't understand the recursion, and the exam date is coming soon, and I know in order to understand recursion, I must first understand recursion. But I just can't write a slightly complex recursive method, can anyone help me out using the simplest English words. public class BalancedStrings { public static void printBalanced(String prefix, int a, int b) { if (a > 0) printBalanced(prefix + "a", a - 1, b); if (b > 0) printBalanced(prefix + "b", a, b - 1); if (a == 0 && b == 0) System.out.println(prefix); } public static void printBalanced(int n) { if (n % 2 == 0) { printBalanced("", n / 2, n / 2); } } public static void main(String[] args) { printBalanced(4); } }

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you.

  • C programming: hashtable insertion/search

    - by Ricardo Campos
    Hello i have a problem with my hash table its implemented like this: #define HT_SIZE 10 typedef struct _list_t_ { char key[20]; char string[20]; char prevValue[20]; struct _list_t_ *next; } list_t; typedef struct _hash_table_t_ { int size; /* the size of the table */ list_t ***table; /* first */ sem_t lock; } hash_table_t; I have a Linked list with 3 pointers because i want a hash table with several partitions (shards), here is my initialization of my Hash table: hash_table_t *create_hash_table(int NUM_SERVER_THREADS, int num_shards){ hash_table_t *new_table; int j,i; if (HT_SIZE<1) return NULL; /* invalid size for table */ /* Attempt to allocate memory for the hashtable structure */ new_table = (hash_table_t*)malloc(sizeof(hash_table_t)*HT_SIZE); /* Attempt to allocate memory for the table itself */ new_table->table = (list_t ***)calloc(1,sizeof(list_t **)); /* Initialize the elements of the table */ for(j=0; j<num_shards; j++){ new_table->table[j] = (list_t **)calloc(1,sizeof(list_t *)); for(i=0; i<HT_SIZE; i++){ new_table->table[j][i] = (list_t *)calloc(1,sizeof(list_t )); } } /* Set the table's size */ new_table->size = HT_SIZE; sem_init(&new_table->lock, 0, 1); return new_table; } Here is my search function to search in the hash table list_t *lookup_string(hash_table_t *hashtable, char *key, int shardId){ list_t *list ; int hashval = hash(key); /* Go to the correct list based on the hash value and see if key is * in the list.   • How can I select a value matching my input from a TypeAhead control using WWW::Mechanize?

    - by kyoob
    So ordinarily the element I want to pick from a list would be populated on a page and I'd just find it and pick it. But I'm dealing with a control that doesn't populate list elements until some input has been stuck into a text box, after which it gives me a list of recommendations. For an example of the kind of list I'm talking about think of Facebook's "People, Places, and Things" search field. I want to plug a string into this text box, select the same string from the list of recommendations, and submit the form. The issue I'm having right now is I can't seem to get Mechanize to even recognize the field is there. I examine a dump of $mech->find_all_inputs and it isn't listed. Is this kind of field just beyond Mechanize's jurisdiction?

  • [app-engine-java-groovy] One-to-Many relationship. Select objects from datastore.

    - by Olexandr
    Hi. I've omitted some code(package declarations, imports, other fields) for shortness. I have here simple One-to-Many relation. It worked fine till this moment. @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION, detachable="true") class Restaurant implements Serializable { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) Key id @Persistent(mappedBy = "restaurant") List<RestaurantAddress> addresses = new ArrayList<RestaurantAddress>() } //-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION, detachable="true") class RestaurantAddress implements Serializable { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) Key id @Persistent Restaurant restaurant } Now i need to get(select) all the Restaurants from DB: def getRestaurantsToExport(final String dst, final int count) { String field = restaurantExportFields[dst] return transactionExecute() { PersistenceManager pm -> Query q = pm.newQuery(Restaurant.class) q.filter = "$field == null" q.setRange(0, count) return q.execute() } } But there are on problem - query gives me 12 restaurants(as in DB) but every Restaurant has 0 Address but in Datastore every Restaurant has minimum 2 addresses. Have anyone the same problem or knows the solution ?

  • Why not System.Void?

    - by Stewart
    I have no practical reason for knowing this answer, but I'm curious anyway... In C#, trying to use System.Void will produce a compilation error: error CS0673: System.Void cannot be used from C# -- use typeof(void) to get the void type object As I understood it, void is simply an alias of System.Void. So, I don't understand why 'System.Void' can't be used directly as you might with 'string' for 'System.String' for example. I would love to read an explanation for this! Incidentally, System.Void can be successfully used with the Mono compiler, instead of Microsoft's .Net, and there it appears equivalent to using the void keyword. This must therefore be a compiler-enforced restriction rather than a CLR restriction, right?

  • Game doesn't Quit properly

    - by W.K.S
    I have an app that so far consists of two Activities: The Main Menu Activity. The Game Activity The Main Menu Activity contains a button that starts the Game Activity with the following code: public void onClick(View clickedButton) { switch(clickedButton.getId()) { case R.id.buttonPlay: Intent i = new Intent("apple.banana.BouncingBallActivity"); startActivity(i); break; } When the user is done with the Game Activity, he presses the back button. This calls the onPause() method first, which pauses the animation thread of the game. It then calls the onStop() which calls finish() on the activity altogether. The user is returned to the Main Menu activity. The code is outlined below: public class BouncingBallActivity extends Activity{ private BouncingBallView bouncingBallView; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); bouncingBallView = new BouncingBallView(this); bouncingBallView.resume(); setContentView(bouncingBallView); } @Override protected void onPause() { super.onPause(); bouncingBallView.pause(); } @Override protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); bouncingBallView.resume(); } @Override protected void onStop() { super.onStop(); this.finish(); } } The problem is that this only works if I launch the application from Eclipse. When I click on the app icon, the game starts from the Game Activity. The main menu activity does not appear. I am not clear about why this happens. It could be something to do with the manifest. I've pasted the relevant portions below: <application android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher" android:label="@string/app_name" > <activity android:name=".BouncingBallActivity" android:label="@string/app_name" android:screenOrientation="landscape" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="apple.banana.BouncingBallActivity" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name=".MainMenu" android:label="@string/app_name" android:screenOrientation="portrait" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> I'd really appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

If anyone could shed some light on a possible solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • dymanic columns in mysql tables?

    - by fayer
    i want to add dynamic columns in a mysql table. but i dont know exactly how. i want to let the user add some columns (fields) in a thread. eg. let him add a integer field and a value (eg. price: 199) or a string field and a value (eg. name: teddybear). the user can add as many field/value-pairs as he wants. i thought i could create a many-to-many table: thread <- thread_field <- field thread: id, title thread_field: field_id, thread_id, value field: id, name is this a good structure? but in this way i have to set a specific column type of thread_field.value. either its an integer or a string. i want to have the possibility to have it dymanic, let the user choose. how can i do this? thanks!

  • User Defined Class as a Template Parameter

    - by isurulucky
    Hi, I' m implementing a custom STL map. I need to make sure that any data type (basic or user defined) key will work with it. I declared the Map class as a template which has two parameters for the key and the value. My question is if I need to use a string as the key type, how can I overload the < and operators for string type keys only?? In template specialization we have to specialize the whole class with the type we need as I understand it. Is there any way I can do this in a better way?? What if I add a separate Key class and use it as the template type for Key? Thank You!!

  • nested list comprehension using intermediate result

    - by KentH
    I am trying to grok the output of a function which doesn't have the courtesy of setting a result code. I can tell it failed by the "error:" string which is mixed into the stderr stream, often in the middle of a different conversion status message. I have the following list comprehension which works, but scans for the "error:" string twice. Since it is only rescanning the actual error lines, it works fine, but it annoys me I can't figure out how to use a single scan. Here's the working code: errors = [e[e.find('error:'):] for e in err.splitlines() if 'error:' in e] The obvious (and wrong) way to simplify is to save the "find" result errors = [e[i:] for i in e.find('error:') if i != -1 for e in err.splitlines()] However, I get "UnboundLocalError: local variable 'e' referenced before assignment". Blindly reversing the 'for's in the comprehension also fails. How is this done? THanks. Kent

  • Would it be useful to change java to support both static and dynamic types?

    - by James A. N. Stauffer
    What if a Java allow both static and dynamic types. That might allow the best of both worlds. i.e.: String str = "Hello"; var temp = str; temp = 10; temp = temp * 5; Would that be possible? Would that be beneficial? Do any languages currently support both and how well does it work out? Here is a better example (generics can't be used but the program does know the type): var username = HttpServletRequest.getSession().getAttribute("username");//Returns a String if(username.length() == 0) { //Error }

  • What is the precedence of characters when sorting in MySQL, PHP, or just in general?

    - by FireCoding
    Question: Where can I find the precedence of characters when sorting in MySQL, PHP, or just in general on Linux and Windows OS? For example, everybody knows that a comes before b when performing an ascending sort on a string in MySQL. But what about other characters? Does the dollar-sign $ come before asterisk * ? Does a space come before an exclamation-mark? etc... What dictates the sort order? Does it use underlying ascii / UTF-8 values? Is it different for different technologies? Technologies to consider: Databases - MySQL / SQL / SQLite / Oracle / etc Programming languages (for string-sorting functions) - PHP / Javascript / ASP.NET / Visual C# / Python / Ruby / Objective C OS (i.e., sorting files by filename) - Windows / Linux / MacOS / iOS / Android

  • NSString cannot be released

    - by Stanley
    Consider the following method and the caller code block. The method analyses a NSString and extracts a "http://" string which it passes out by reference as an auto release object. Without releasing g_scan_result, the program works as expected. But according to non-arc rules, g_scan_result should be released since a retain has been called against it. My question are : Why g_scan_result cannot be released ? Is there anything wrong the way g_scan_result is handled in the posted coding below ? Is it safe not to release g_scan_result as long as the program runs correctly and the XCode Memory Leak tool does not show leakage ? Which XCode profile tools should I look into to check and under which subtitle ? Hope somebody knowledgeable could help. - (long) analyse_scan_result :(NSString *)scan_result target_url :(NSString **)targ_url { NSLog (@" RES analyse string : %@", scan_result); NSRange range = [scan_result rangeOfString:@"http://" options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch]; if (range.location == NSNotFound) { *targ_url = @""; NSLog(@"fnd string not found"); return 0; } NSString *sub_string = [scan_result substringFromIndex : range.location]; range = [sub_string rangeOfString : @" "]; if (range.location != NSNotFound) { sub_string = [sub_string substringToIndex : range.location]; } NSLog(@" FND sub_string = %@", sub_string); *targ_url = sub_string; return [*targ_url length]; } The following is the caller code block, also note that g_scan_result has been declared and initialized (on another source file) as : NSString *g_scan_result = nil; Please do send a comment or answer if you have suggestions or find possible errors in code posted here (or above). Xcode memory tools does not seem to show any memory leak. But it may be because I do not know where to look as am new to the memory tools. { long url_leng = [self analyse_scan_result:result target_url:&targ_url]; NSLog(@" TAR target_url = %@", targ_url); UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Scanned Result" message:result delegate:g_alert_view_delegate cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; if (url_leng) { // ****** The 3 commented off statements // ****** cannot be added without causing // ****** a crash after a few scan result // ****** cycles. // ****** NSString *t_url; if (g_system_status.language_code == 0) [alert addButtonWithTitle : @"Open"]; else if (g_system_status.language_code == 1) [alert addButtonWithTitle : @"Abrir"]; else [alert addButtonWithTitle : @"Open"]; // ****** t_url = g_scan_result; g_scan_result = [targ_url retain]; // ****** [t_url release]; } targ_url = nil; [alert show]; [alert release]; [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:5.0 target:self selector:@selector(activate_qr_scanner:) userInfo:nil repeats:NO ]; return; }

  • Performance implications of using a variable versus a magic number

    - by Nathan
    I'm often confused by this. I've always been taught to name numbers I use often using variables or constants, but if it reduces the efficiency of the program, should I still do it? Heres an example: private int CenterText(Font font, PrintPageEventArgs e, string text) { int recieptCenter = 125; int stringLength = Convert.ToInt32(e.Graphics.MeasureString(text, font)); return recieptCenter - stringLength / 2; } The above code is using named variables, but runs slower then this code: private int CenterText(Font font, PrintPageEventArgs e, string text) { return 125 - Convert.ToInt32(e.Graphics.MeasureString(text, font) / 2); } In this example, the difference in execution time is minimal, but what about in larger blocks of code?
