  • Show SplashScreen Programmatically

    - by leo
I'm currently working on a Java Application and it's my first Java App. So I created a file Splash.png and placed it into the source folder resourcesof the application. I already managed it to show the Splash image on startup, with the JVM param -splash:resources/Splash.png, but my question is; How can I show this splash screen again, but programmatically? I need this functionality for the About menu item.

  • How to display a status message in the Gnome panel?

    - by George Edison
I have a Gnome applet I've been working on. It is written in Python and it displays the progress of something in a small label. My question is: what is the best way to display status notifications to the user? On Ubuntu, I notice that whenever I connect to a network or adjust the volume, a black box appears in the upper-right corner. Is there a way to do something like that with Python?

  • How to compile a svn python binding for windows from the source?

    - by yin-gang
I'm setting up a new svn+trac environment, the svn server's version is 1.6.11, then I can't find any corresponding pre-compiled svn-python binding, finally I found the following thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/677252/python-svn-bindings-for-windows so, my question is: how to compile from these source? http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/subversion/trunk/subversion/bindings/swig/python/

  • Core Location and speed measurements

    - by Krumelur
Does anyone know if Core Location in the iPhone OS uses anything but simple vector math to calculate speed? I've read that the GPS system can provide speed measurements that can be accurate when position is not (I believe using the Doppler shifts of the signals). I've tried and failed to see if the iPhone does this. The question is basically, does this data contain information or is it just convenience functions, using (filtered?) location data?

  • a href nested in DIV element in ASP.NET C#

    - by Gal V
Hello all, My question is quite simple, I created a DIV, with a HyperLink control in it. As following: I created an 'onclick' event in jQuery for the DIV as well: $('#divOne').click(function() { alert('You clicked on the DIV element'); }); My goal is to trigger this event when the DIV area is clicked (working fine), BUT- When the HyperLink is clicked, I need the page to redirect WITHOUT triggering the DIV 'onclick' event (can use JavaScript or jQuery as needed). Thanks all!

  • How do I add complex where clause to Zend Table Select?

    - by AD
I searched the Web and could not find anything that would show me a good solid example. My question is basically this: How do I convert this: SELECT * FROM table WHERE ((a = 1 AND b = 2) OR (c = 3 OR c = 4)) AND d = 5; To Zend syntax similar to this: $this -select() -from($this-_schema.'.'.$this-_name) -where('a = ?', '1'); So how can it be done? Thank a lot in advance.

  • MySQL won't use index for query?

    - by Jack Sleight
    I have this table: CREATE TABLE `point` ( `id` INT(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `siteid` INT(11) NOT NULL, `lft` INT(11) DEFAULT NULL, `rgt` INT(11) DEFAULT NULL, `level` SMALLINT(6) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`), KEY `point_siteid_site_id` (`siteid`), CONSTRAINT `point_siteid_site_id` FOREIGN KEY (`siteid`) REFERENCES `site` (`id`) ON DELETE CASCADE ) ENGINE=INNODB AUTO_INCREMENT=35 DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 COLLATE=utf8_unicode_ci And this query: SELECT * FROM `point` WHERE siteid = 1; Which results in this EXPLAIN information: +----+-------------+-------+------+----------------------+------+---------+------+------+-------------+ | id | select_type | table | type | possible_keys | key | key_len | ref | rows | Extra | +----+-------------+-------+------+----------------------+------+---------+------+------+-------------+ | 1 | SIMPLE | point | ALL | point_siteid_site_id | NULL | NULL | NULL | 6 | Using where | +----+-------------+-------+------+----------------------+------+---------+------+------+-------------+ Question is, why isn't the query using the point_siteid_site_id index?

  • Compile to stand alone exe for C# app in Visual Studio 2010

    - by Wil
Similar to this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2035083/compile-to-a-stand-alone-executable-exe-in-visual-studio But nothing there works for me. I've written an app that is very simple in C#. I want this to compile to a stand alone exe file, but I can't seem to find the proper settings to do this. Everything compiles into a publish folder and there is only the setup/install files. Thanks!

  • How do I update with a newly-created detached entity using NHibernate?

    - by Daniel T.
Explanation: Let's say I have an object graph that's nested several levels deep and each entity has a bi-directional relationship with each other. A -> B -> C -> D -> E Or in other words, A has a collection of B and B has a reference back to A, and B has a collection of C and C has a reference back to B, etc... Now let's say I want to edit some data for an instance ofC. In Winforms, I would use something like this: var instanceOfC; using (var session = SessionFactory.OpenSession()) { // get the instance of C with Id = 3 instanceOfC = session.Linq<C>().Where(x => x.Id == 3); } SendToUIAndLetUserUpdateData(instanceOfC); using (var session = SessionFactory.OpenSession()) { // re-attach the detached entity and update it session.Update(instanceOfC); } In plain English, we grab a persistent instance out of the database, detach it, give it to the UI layer for editing, then re-attach it and save it back to the database. Problem: This works fine for Winform applications because we're using the same entity all throughout, the only difference being that it goes from persistent to detached to persistent again. The problem occurs when I'm using a web service and a browser, sending over JSON data. In this case, the data that comes back is no longer a detached entity, but rather a transient one that just happens to have the same ID as the persistent one. If I use this entity to update, it will wipe out the relationship to B and D unless I sent the entire object graph over to the UI and got it back in one piece. Question: My question is, how do I serialize detached entities over the web, receive them back, and save them, while preserving any relationships that I didn't explicitly change? I know about ISession.SaveOrUpdateCopy and ISession.Merge() (they seem to do the same thing?), but this will still wipe out the relationships if I don't explicitly set them. I could copy the fields from the transient entity to the persistent entity one by one, but this doesn't work too well when it comes to relationships and I'd have to handle version comparisons manually.

  • Split a complex GUI window into several files in Netbeans

    - by Hectoret
After building the application GUI, I realised it was a little bit too complex and I could reuse some of the Swing components. The result is a complex class with many anidated JPanels. My question is: does Netbeans provide a way to split a JPanel and its children components into a different class? If I do it by hand, will the GUI designer still work? Thanks!

    - by Richard

  • Are event handlers in JavaScript called in order?

    - by musicfreak
I know this is a simple question, but I haven't had the chance to test it in any browser other than Firefox. If I attach multiple event handlers to a single event on a single DOM element, are the event handlers guaranteed to be called in the order they were added? Or should I not rely on this behavior?

  • Managed DirectX as a starting point

    - by numerical25
I know the difference between manage and unmanaged DirectX. My question is if I decided to do managed directX as a starting point, would it help me to better understand unmanaged DirectX. Honestly, the only thing I see different about the 2 is how you initiate and access resources. Matrix Math is Matrix no matter what so If I learn it in managed, then I should be fine in unmanaged

  • Checking type sizes in C with macros.

    - by Seisatsu
I'm writing a program that needs to have unsigned types with definite sizes. I need a uint8, uint16, uint32, and uint64, and I need them defined in types.h, in a way that they will always be defined correctly regardless of platform. My question is, how can I check the sizes of different types on each platform using preprocessor macros, so that I can define my custom types correctly in the types.h header?
