    I have various ObservableCollections of different object types. I'd like to write a single method that will take a collection of any of these object types and return a new collection where each element is a deep copy of elements in the given collection.   • How can I use django.core.files.File

    The docs for django.core.files.File imply I can do this: print File(open(path)).url but the File object has no attribute 'url' However, django.db.models.fields.files.FieldFile extends File and does have all the attributes described in the docs for File, but I can't create one without giving it a model field. All I want it something that does what the docs for django.core.files.File (link above) say it does, take a python file and give it attributes like 'url' and 'path' and 'name', can anyone help? I am using core data with a sqlite database to hold simple profile objects which have a name and a score attribute (both of which are of type NSString).   • Strange jboss console error

    Hello everyone, I'm creating additional module to already multi-module maven project. And for this one I want everything to be like in other modules(meaning dependencies) just to test hello world, then I'll go do some more complex stuff. And it does print hello world as it should when deployed onto jboss server, but I get some strange error on console, had anyone had similar experience? and how can I fix it?   • Allowing interaction with a UIView under another UIView

    Is there a simple way of allowing interaction with a button in a UIView that lies under another UIView - where there are no actual objects from the top UIView on top of the button? For instance, at the moment I have a UIView (A) with an object at the top and an object at the bottom of the screen and nothing in the middle. This sits on top of another UIView that has buttons in the middle (B). However, I cannot seem to interact with the buttons in the middle of B. I can see the buttons in B - I've set the background of A to clearColor - but the buttons in B do not seem to receive touches despite the fact that there are no objects from A actually on top of those buttons. EDIT - I still want to be able to interact with the objects in the top UIView Surely there is a simple way of doing this? Many thanks, D

How can i cast now any car object to a mycar object without assigning all attributes each by hand.   • Windows Workflow Foundation 4.0 and WCF web service faults (soap fault)

    In my Workflow Foundation 4.0 RC app I have a 'Receive' and 'SendReplyToReceive' WCF messaging pair that work fine with a simple request/response operation, but I'm having trouble attempting to perform validation on the request and reply with a fault. In WCF I am able to create a throw custom fault contracts (which in turn sent out SOAP faults) but I just can't see how to achieve this with the built-in workflow messaging activities. I can only seem to response with a data transfer object (I'm not even able to respond with a choice of object). Any ideas? (Can you save my day yet again Maurice!?) Thanks!

    Hey guys, I need to add some kind of archiving functionality to a Objective-C Trie implementation (NDTrie on github), but I have very little experience with C and it's data structures. struct trieNode { NSUInteger key; NSUInteger count, size; id object; __strong struct trieNode ** children; __strong struct trieNode * parent; }; @interface NDTrie (Private) - (struct trieNode*)root; @end What I need is to create an NSData with the tree structure from that root - or serialize/deserialize the whole tree some other way (conforming to NSCoding?), but I have no clue how to work with NSData and a C struct containing pointers. Performance on deserializing the resulting object would be crucial, as this is an iPhone project and I will need to load it in the background every time the app starts. What would be the best way to achieve this? Thanks!

    Hi, I'm currently in the process of creating a WCF webservice which should be compatible with WS-I Basic Profile 1.1. I'm using a wsdl-first approach (actually for the first time), defining first the xsd for the complex types, the WSDL and then using svcutil.exe for generating the according server as well as client-side interfaces/proxies. So far everything works fine. Then I decided to add a fault to my WSDL. Regenerating with svcutil succeeded, but then I noticed that my generated fault doesn't have the properties I defined in my xsd file (which is imported by my WSDL).   • Pass or Get a value from Parent ViewModel down to Sub-ViewModel?

    I am using the MVVM Light framework as well as Unity for DI. I have some nested Views, each bound to a corresponding ViewModel. The ViewModels are bound to each View's root control DataContext via the ViewModelLocator idea that Laurent Bugnion has put into MVVM Light. This allows for finding ViewModels via a static resource and for controlling the lifetime of ViewModels via a Dependency Injection framework, in this case Unity. It also allows for Expression Blend to see everything in regard to ViewModels and how to bind them. As I stated the Views have a healthy dose of nesting, but the ViewModels don't really know anything about each other. A parent view binds to its corresponding ViewModel via the static resource ViewModelLocator (which uses Unity to control the construction and lifetime of the ViewModel object). That parent view contains a user control in it that is another sub-view, which then goes and gets its corresponding ViewModel via the ViewModelLocator as well. The ViewModels don't have references to each other or know any hierarchy in regard to each other. So here's an example of how the ViewModels do interact via messaging. I've got a parent View that has a ComboBox databound to an ObservableCollection in its ViewModel. The ComboBox's SelectedItem is also bound (two-way) to a property on the ViewModel. When the selection of the ComboBox changes, this is to trigger updates in other Views and sub-Views. Currently I am accomplishing this via the Messaging system that is found in MVVM Light. So I'm wondering what the best practice would be to get information from one ViewModel to another? In this case, what I need to pass down to sub-ViewModels is basically a user Guid representing the currently logged in user. The top-most parent View (well, ViewModel) will know this information, but I'm not sure how to get it down into the sub-ViewModels. Some possible approaches I can think of: Should the sub-ViewModel ask the static resource ViewModelLocator for a reference to the same object the parent View is using and access the property that way? It seems like ViewModels going through each other's properties is not very clean and couples them together unnecessarily. I'm already using messaging to notify the sub-Views that the user selected a new item in the ComboBox and to update accordingly. But the object type that is being selected in the ComboBox is not really directly related to this data value that the sub-Views need.

    Hi, In the .net framework, there's a generic IEnumerable<T> interface which inherits from the not-generic IEnumerable, and they both have a GetEnumerator() method. The only differents between these two GetEnumerator() is the return type. Now I have a similar design, but when I compile the code, the compiler said: MyInterface<T>.GetItem()' hides inherited member 'MyInterface.GetItem()'. Use the new keyword if hiding was intended. The MyInterface<T>.GetItem() returns a concrete type T, while MyInterface.GetItem() returns type System.Object. So I think if the BCL team guys compile the .net framework, they will get the same warning. I think having compiler warnings is not good, what do you think? And how can I solve this problem? I mean I want to get the concrete type T when calling the MyInterface<T>.GetItem() not just a instance of type System.Object. Thanks in advance! :-)

If the connection is successful, I can verify that ServerConnection.ConnectTimeout is set to 2 (seconds), but when I supply a bogus name for the SQL Server instance, it still attempts to connect to it for ~ 15 seconds (which is I believe the default timeout value). Does anyone have experience with setting SMO connection timeout? Thank you in advance.
