  • How to access valuestack objects within struts iterator?

    - by Monika Michael
    I have following code - <s:iterator value="reviews"> <img src="<s:property value="#request.restaurant.portalImage.url" />" /> <s:property value="user.firstName" /> <s:property value="user.lastName" /> <s:property value="rating" /> <s:property value="review" /> </s:iterator> reviews is a list of review objects which contain details of a review, such as rating and name of user. My problem is that i'm not able to access any of the objects present on the valuestack within the loop. Outside the loop <s:property value="#request.restaurant.portalImage.url" /> works correctly. But within the loop it prints null. AFAIK an iterator pushes it's collection on the valuestack so that all ognl expressions resolve against it. But I've used # which means I'm explicitly specifying the root object for resolution. Why is it still not working?

  • Composer does not find dependencies of vcs repository

    - by Michael Freund
    i've got a strange problem ... project-a is my main project. project-b is my library, checked in to subversion composer.json of project-b { "name": "fragger/baseclasses", "version" : "0.0.1-dev", "description": "Baseclasses and Interfaces", "require": { "silex/silex": "1.0.x-dev", "3rd-party/smarty": "3.*", "swiftmailer/swiftmailer": "4.2-dev" }, "autoload": { "psr-0": { "baseclasses": "src/" } } } and composer.json of project-b { "repositories" : [ { "type": "vcs", "url" : "svn+ssh://....." } ], "require": { "fragger/baseclasses": ">=0.0.1-dev" } } output of install command php composer.phar install Loading composer repositories with package information Installing dependencies Your requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages. Problem 1 - Installation request for fragger/baseclasses >=0.0.1-dev -> satisfiable by fragger/baseclasses dev-trunk. - fragger/baseclasses dev-trunk requires silex/silex 1.0.x-dev -> no matching package found. But a composer install in project a alone, works fine

  • Using Range Function

    - by Michael Alexander Riechmann
    My goal is to make a program that takes an input (Battery_Capacity) and ultimately spits out a list of the (New_Battery_Capacity) and the Number of (Cycle) it takes for it ultimately to reach maximum capacity of 80. Cycle = range (160) Charger_Rate = 0.5 * Cycle Battery_Capacity = float(raw_input("Enter Current Capacity:")) New_Battery_Capacity = Battery_Capacity + Charger_Rate if Battery_Capacity < 0: print 'Battery Reading Malfunction (Negative Reading)' elif Battery_Capacity > 80: print 'Battery Reading Malfunction (Overcharged)' elif float(Battery_Capacity) % 0.5 !=0: print 'Battery Malfunction (Charges Only 0.5 Interval)' while Battery_Capacity >= 0 and Battery_Capacity < 80: print New_Battery_Capacity I was wondering why my Cycle = range(160) isn't working in my program?

  • Adding gwt project to existing java servlet 3 project

    - by Michael
    I have a standalone gwt project with RPC built with Maven. I also have java servlet 3.0 project. Both the servlet and gwt projects have war packaging but I want to have only one war file so I changed the packaging of the gwt project to jar and included it in my servlet project. Now I have a problem understanding how to wire everything together. Do I need to migrate gwt project's web.xml into the main project web.xml file ? How do I redirect to my gwt project entry index.html ? Thanks.

  • DataBind and Postback

    - by Michael La Voie
    This is a general how does DataBind work questions... I have a simple page with a GridView that is bound (in the aspx code) to an ObjectDataSource. I can look in the Select() function called by the ObjectDataSource to see that it is called on the initial load and on every post back. I have some logic that happens on post backs that will affect the GridView's data, and I want to call GridView.DataBind() later on in the post back, after I've made some changes. Is there a way to prevent the automatic rebinding that happens on each post back? Does this mean I can't use an ObjectDataSource for this control?

  • How to skip extra lines before the header of a tab delimited delimited file in R

    - by Michael Dunn
    The software I am using produces log files with a variable number of lines of summary information followed by lots of tab delimited data. I am trying to write a function that will read the data from these log files into a data frame ignoring the summary information. The summary information never contains a tab, so the following function works: read.parameters <- function(file.name, ...){ lines <- scan("tmp.log", what="character", sep="\n") first.line <- min(grep("\\t", lines)) return(read.delim(file.name, skip=first.line-1, ...)) } However, these logfiles are quite big, and so reading the file twice is very slow. Surely there is a better way?

  • Check my anagram code from a job interview in the past.

    - by Michael Dorgan
    Had the following as an interview question a while ago and choked so bad on basic syntax that I failed to advance (once the adrenalin kicks in, coding goes out the window.) Given a list of string, return a list of sets of strings that are anagrams of the input set. i.e. "dog","god", "foo" should return {"dog","god"}. Afterward, I created the code on my own as a sanity check and it's been around now for a bit. I'd welcome input on it to see if I missed anything or if I could have done it much more efficiently. Take it as a chance to improve myself and learn other techniques: void Anagram::doWork(list input, list &output) { typedef list SortType; SortType sortedInput; // sort each string and pair it with the original for(list<string>::iterator i = input.begin(); i != input.end(); ++i) { string tempString(*i); std::sort(tempString.begin(), tempString.end()); sortedInput.push_back(make_pair(*i, tempString)); } // Now step through the new sorted list for(SortType::iterator i = sortedInput.begin(); i != sortedInput.end();) { set<string> newSet; // Assume (hope) we have a match and pre-add the first. newSet.insert(i->first); // Set the secondary iterator one past the outside to prevent // matching the original SortType::iterator j = i; ++j; while(j != sortedInput.end()) { if(i->second == j->second) { // If the string matches, add it to the set and remove it // so that future searches need not worry about it newSet.insert(j->first); j = sortedInput.erase(j); } else { // else, next element ++j; } } // If size is bigger than our original push, we have a match - save it to the output if(newSet.size() > 1) { output.push_back(newSet); } // erase this element and update the iterator i = sortedInput.erase(i); } }

  • Git Pull works; Git push fails

    - by Michael
    I thought I set up my key pairs correctly -- I can do git pulls. I can do git commits. But when I do a git push, it counts objects, decompresses, then says: fatal: the remote end hung up unexpectedly. What's the issue here? I'm a super user, so it's not folder writable / readable access problems -- it must be the way I set up the encryption key pair... how do I debug this ... since git pull works?

  • Autofac: Reference from a SingleInstance'd type to a HttpRequestScoped

    - by Michael Wagner
    I've got an application where a shared object needs a reference to a per-request object. Shared: Engine | Per Req: IExtensions() | Request If i try to inject the IExtensions directly into the constructor of Engine, even as Lazy(Of IExtension), I get a "No scope matching [Request] is visible from the scope in which the instance was requested." exception when it tries to instantiate each IExtension. How can I create a HttpRequestScoped instance and then inject it into a shared instance? Would it be considered good practice to set it in the Request's factory (and therefore inject Engine into RequestFactory)?

  • Getting a borderless window to receive mouseMoved events (Cocoa OSX)

    - by Michael Minerva
    I have a little popup window used for selecting images sorted by groups, and I would like to add a selection box around whatever image is being hovered over. I am trying to this by overriding the mouseMoved event for the window but it seems that a window that has a border-less style mask receives no mouseMoved events even if you have set setAcceptsMouseMoved events to YES. Is there anyway to make a borderless window receive this events?

  • PHP While Loops from Arrays

    - by Michael
    I have a table that contains members names and a field with multiple ID numbers. I want to create a query that returns results where any values in the ID fields overlap with any values in the array. For example: lastname: Smith firstname: John id: 101, 103 I have Array #1 with the values 101, 102, 103 I want the query to output all members who have the values 101 or 102 or 103 listed in their id field with multiple ids listed. Array ( [0] => 101 [1] => 102 [2] => 103 ) $sql="SELECT firstname, lastname, id FROM members WHERE id LIKE '%".$array_num_1."%'"; $result=mysql_query($sql); while ($rows=mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo $rows['lastname'].', '.$rows['firstname'].'-'.$rows['id']; }

  • Javascript JQUERY AJAX: When Are These Implemented

    - by Michael Moreno
    I'm learning javascript. Poked around this excellent site to gather intel. Keep coming across questions / answers about javascript, JQUERY, JQUERY with AJAX, javascript with JQUERY, AJAX alone. My conclusion: these are all individually powerful and useful. My confusion: how does one determine which/which combination to use ? I've concluded that javascript is readily available on most browsers. For example, I can extend a simple HTML page with <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> document.write("Hello World!"); </script> </body> </html> However, within the scope of Python/DJANGO, many of these questions are JQUERY and AJAX related. At which point or under what development circumstances would I conclude that javascript alone isn't going to "cut it", and I need to implement JQUERY and/or AJAX and/or some other permutation ?

  • Problem passing a reference as a named parameter to a variadic function

    - by Michael Mrozek
    I'm having problems in Visual Studio 2003 with the following: void foo(const char*& str, ...) { va_list args; va_start(args, str); const char* foo; while((foo = va_arg(args, const char*)) != NULL) { printf("%s\n", foo); } } When I call it: const char* one = "one"; foo(one, "two", "three", NULL); I get: Access violation reading location 0xcccccccc on the printf() line -- va_arg() returned 0xcccccccc. I finally discovered it's the first parameter being a reference that breaks it -- if I make it a normal char* everything is fine. It doesn't seem to matter what the type is; being a reference causes it to fail at runtime. Is this a known problem with VS2003, or is there some way in which that's legal behavior? It doesn't happen in GCC; I haven't tested with newer Visual Studios to see if the behavior goes away

  • If a nonblocking recv with MSG_PEEK succeeds, will a subsequent recv without MSG_PEEK also succeed?

    - by Michael Wolf
    Here's a simplified version of some code I'm working on: void stuff(int fd) { int ret1, ret2; char buffer[32]; ret1 = recv(fd, buffer, 32, MSG_PEEK | MSG_DONTWAIT); /* Error handling -- and EAGAIN handling -- would go here. Bail if necessary. Otherwise, keep going. */ /* Can this call to recv fail, setting errno to EAGAIN? */ ret2 = recv(fd, buffer, ret1, 0); } If we assume that the first call to recv succeeds, returning a value between 1 and 32, is it safe to assume that the second call will also succeed? Can ret2 ever be less than ret1? In which cases? (For clarity's sake, assume that there are no other error conditions during the second call to recv: that no signal is delivered, that it won't set ENOMEM, etc. Also assume that no other threads will look at fd. I'm on Linux, but MSG_DONTWAIT is, I believe, the only Linux-specific thing here. Assume that the right fnctl was set previously on other platforms.)

  • javax.servlet import cannot be resolved after moving web servlet

    - by Michael Kjörling
    I have written a small web servlet to run under Tomcat, using Eclipse Helios. In its old, non-source-controlled location, everything was fine, but now I need to add this to our source control system. Moving the old files out of the way, creating a new workspace, setting up the server connection and copying and importing the existing projects into the new workspace all worked fine once I figured out how to do it, but I can't get the servlet to build. Instead, I get a whole bunch of cannot be resolved to a type errors talking about various servlet class types; HttpServlet, HttpServletRequest, ServletException, etc. Another error that is almost certainly related is The import javax.servlet cannot be resolved. I am obviously missing something very basic, but I'm new to this (and not having the terminology really down pat probably doesn't help me Google for an answer). Any suggestions as to what I might be missing would be greatly appreciated.

  • Error Downloading Metadata from ASMX Service

    - by michael.lukatchik
    It should be possible (and it looks like it is), but assume I have the following functions in my ASMX web service: [WebMethod(MessageName = "CreateExternalRpt1")] public bool CreateExternalRpt(int iProductId, int iOrderProductId, DateTime dtReportTime, string strReportTitle, string strReportCategory, string strReportPrintType, out string strSnapshot, string strApplicantFirst, string strApplicantLast, string strApplicantMiddle, string strOwnerLast, string strOwnerMiddle, string strOwnerFirst, bool blnCurrentReport, int iOrderId, bool blnFlag, string strCustomerId, string strUserId) { … } [WebMethod(MessageName = "CreateExternalRpt2")] public bool CreateExternalRpt(int iProductId, int iOrderProductId, DateTime dtReportTime, string strReportTitle, string strReportCategory, string strReportPrintType, string strReportSnapshot, string strApplicantFirst, string strApplicantLast, string strApplicantMiddle, string strOwnerLast, string strOwnerMiddle, string strOwnerFirst, bool blnCurrentReport, int iOrderId, bool blnFlag) { … } With both of these functions defined in my web service, my .NET client app can’t download the metadata and instead throws a generic error message “There was an error downloading…”. With one of the above methods removed, the .NET client app can successfully download the metadata. I’ve read that by decorating the WebMethod with a unique name, both functions should be exposed in the service metadata. This isn’t working. What am I missing?

  • Why does instanceof seem to work in a static generic function sometimes?

    - by michael
    Greetings. This is my first post in this site. I thought that because of type erasure, one could not expect the following code to compile, and indeed, it did not compile on an earlier version of Eclipse. My understanding was that instanceof was a run-time operator and could not know about the generic type which would be, by run-time, compiled away: public static <E extends Comparable<? super E>> void SampleForQuestion(E e) { if ( !(e instanceof String) ) System.out.println("I am not a String"); else System.out.println("I am a String"); } However, I was surprised to see that one of your threads actually included some code like this in an answer, and my latest Eclipse (Galileo on Windows with JVM 1.6 rev 20) is perfectly happy with it -- and it works, too. (I did notice that someone said it worked on Eclipse but not in another IDE/JDK in that thread, but don't remember the specifics.) Can someone explain why it works, and more importantly, because I have to guide my students, whether it should be expected to work in the future. Thank you. (I hope the code formatting comes through correctly - it looks indented correctly from my perspective and there are no tabs.)

  • Check for column name in a SqlDataReader object

    - by Michael Kniskern
    How do I check to see if a column exists in a SqlDataReader object? In my data access layer, I have create a method that builds the same object for multiple stored procedures calls. One of the stored procedures has an additional column that is not used by the other stored procedures. I want to modified the method to accommodate for every scenario. My application is written in C#.

  • How to extract ALL typedefs and structs and unions from c++ source

    - by Michael Wells
    I have inherited a Visual Studio project that contains hundreds of files. I would like to extract all the typedefs, structs and unions from each .h/.cpp file and put the results in a file). Each typdef/struct/union should be on one line in the results file. This would make sorting much easier. typdef int myType; struct myFirstStruct { char a; int b;...}; union Part_Number_Serial_Number_Part_2_Response_Message_Type {struct{Message_Response_Head_Type Head; Part_Num_Serial_Num_Part_2_Report_Array Part_2_Report; Message_Tail_Type Tail;} Data; BYTE byData[140];}myUnion; struct { bool c; int d;...}mySecondStruct; My problem is, I do not know what to look for (grammar of typedef/structs/unions) using a regular expression. I cannot believe that nobody has done this before (I googled and have not found anything on this). Does anyone know the regular expressions for these? (Note some are commented out using // others /* */) Or a tool to accomplish this. Edit: I am toying with the idea of autogenerating source code and/or dialogs for modifying messages that use the underlying typedef/struct/union. I was going to use the output to generate an XML file that could be used for this reason. The source for these are in C/C++ and used in almost all my projects. These projects are usually NOT in C/C++. By using the XML version I would only need to update/add the typedef/struct/union only in one place and all the projects would be able to autogen the source and/or dialogs.

  • How to Compute a Database Column in .NET

    - by Michael
    I have a Database named CarsType.accdb there are four fields in the data base Item_Name, Item_Num, Item_Qty, Item_Cost. I am able to get the database to display my data in VisualBasic but I am not sure how to get the total cost to appear in my label (lblTotalCost). I prefer doing it in VB versus writing in my access program. All I am wanting to do it multiply item_qty * Item_Cost How would I go about doing that?

  • SqlCE DB occasionally freezes on one handheld, not another

    - by Michael
    I have two types of custom handhelds which are similar, but slightly different, each running the same WinForm application and a WinCE database: Type 1: WinCE 4.2, 400 mhz, 93244 kb Type 2: WinCE 5.0, 520 mhz, 84208 kb Type 1 will happily proceed through a large batch db operation (initiated) by the app, by Type 2 will consistently begin c-r-a-w-l-i-n-g (for several to many cycles) at around the 200 cycle mark. As several points it will begin running normally and then crawl again. The app does several db op's (inserts, updates and selects, no deletes). To simplify my situation, I've built a small test app which essentially does this: command_s.CommandText = "select dvr from vr where vid = 2211250"; command_u.CommandText = "update pvr set LocationID=81 where Status='OK' and vri = 27861"; while(going) { command_s.ExecuteScalar(); command_u.ExecuteNonQuery(); } and set it off running on the two units side by side. Sure enough, the slower (400 mhz) unit is outpacing the faster (520 mhz) unit (it's about 5000 cycles ahead right now) and I can see noticable pauses on the 520 mhz unit. What is causing this?

  • Refactoring - Speed increase

    - by Michael G
    How can I make this function more efficient. It's currently running at 6 - 45 seconds. I've ran dotTrace profiler on this specific method, and it's total time is anywhere between 6,000ms to 45,000ms. The majority of the time is spent on the "MoveNext" and "GetEnumerator" calls. and example of the times are 71.55% CreateTableFromReportDataColumns - 18, 533* ms - 190 calls -- 55.71% MoveNext - 14,422ms - 10,775 calls What can I do to speed this method up? it gets called a lot, and the seconds add up: private static DataTable CreateTableFromReportDataColumns(Report report) { DataTable table = new DataTable(); HashSet<String> colsToAdd = new HashSet<String> { "DataStream" }; foreach (ReportData reportData in report.ReportDatas) { IEnumerable<string> cols = reportData.ReportDataColumns.Where(c => !String.IsNullOrEmpty(c.Name)).Select(x => x.Name).Distinct(); foreach (var s in cols) { if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(s)) colsToAdd.Add(s); } } foreach (string col in colsToAdd) { table.Columns.Add(col); } return table; }
