  • How do you save/export changes made in Firebug?

    Using Firebug to edit CSS, how do I save/export changes made to the CSS? TOOLS: Firefox, Firebug MAJOR UPDATE: If you know of a way to lock the forward/back/refresh on a FireFox tab, please let me know. Otherwise, I've given up on using FireBug/FireDiff as an IDE for CSS, it's nice, but lol... press backspace at the wrong time and ALL your work is gone... funny. So, really like the browser highlighting to CSS/HTML in Firebug. Know any good CSS editors that do this? Really had hope FireBug would work, but for now only see it as being good for ad-hoc inspection and test; meaning using it for what it's made for. UPDATES: @Lèse majesté: Just as an update, "Web Developer add-on" does let you edit CSS, but it does not let you edit/save CSS changes made by Firebug. Meaning you use Firebug to ID and maybe test changes, but it does not let you save the changes from Firebug. Here's a "how to" covering how to use them together: FF + FB + WD @Lèse majesté: Still playing around with FireDiff. It works okay, found one bug already (although I'm just working around it), and there's no "how to" I've been able to find, so I'm just trying every feature and clicking around... (for example, to export a diff you must be over the last item in the list, right click, and select as "Save Diff". The ".diff" is just a text file, no idea why at this point the ext is .diff.

  • What are some efficient ways to set up my environment when working on a remote site?

    Hello fellow Programmers, I am still a relatively new programmer and have recently gotten my first on-campus programming position. I am the sole dev responsible for 8 domains as well as 3 small sized PHP web apps. The campus has its web environment divided into staging and live servers -- we develop on the staging via SFTP and then push the updates to the live server through a web GUI. I use Sublime Text 2 and the Sublime SFTP plugin currently for all my dev work (its my preferred editor). If I am just making an edit to a page I'll open that individual file via the ftp browser. If I am working on the PHP web app projects, I have the app directory mapped to a local folder so that when I save locally the file is auto-uploaded through Sublime SFTP. I feel like this workflow is slow and sub-optimal. How can I improve my workflow for working with remote content? I'd love to set up a local environment on my machine as that would eliminate the constant SFTP upload/download, but as I said there are many sites and the space required for a local copy of the entire domain would be quite large and complex; not to mention keeping it updated with whatever the latest on the staging server is would be a nightmare. Anyone know how I can improve my general web dev workflow from what I've described? I'd really like to cut out constantly editing over FTP but I'm not sure where to start other than ripping the entire directory and dumping it into XAMP.

  • Unable to debug an encodded javascript?

    I’m having some problems debugging an encoded javacscript. This script I’m referring to given in this link over here. The encoding here is simple and it works by shifting the unicodes values to whatever Codekey was use during encoding. Like for example when the value of i=0 what values would the following attributes / method would hold s1.charCodeAt(i) and s.substr(s.length-1,1) The reason I’m doing this is to understand as to how a CodeKey function really works. I don’t see anything in the code above which tells it to decode on the basis of codekey value. The only thing I can point in the encoding text is the last character which is set to 1 , 2 ,3 or 4 depending upon the codekey selected during encoding process. One can verify using the link I have given above. However, to debug, I’m using firebug addon with the script running as localhost on my wamp server. I’m able to put a breakpoint on the js using firebug but I’m unable to retrieve any of the user defined parameters or functions I mentioned above. I want to know under this context what would be best way to debug this encoded js.

  • Rendering a Long Document on iPad

    I'm implementing a document viewer with highlighting/annotation capabilities for a custom document format on iPad. The documents are kind of long (100 to 200 pages, if printed on paper) and I've had a hard time finding the right approach. Here are the requirments: 1) Basic rich-text styling: control of left/right margins. Control of font name, size, foreground/background color, and line spacing. Bold, italics, underline, etc. 2) Selection and highlighting of arbitrary text regions (not limited to paragraph boundaries, like in Safari/UIWebView). 3) Customization of the Cut/Copy/Paste popup (what is that thing called anyhow? UIActionBar?) This is one of the essential requirements of the app. My first implementation was based on UIWebView. I just rendered the document as HTML with CSS for text styling. But I couldn't get the kind of text selection behavior I wanted (across paragraph boundaries) and the UIActionBar can't be customized from within UIWebView. So I started working on a javascript approach, faking the device text-selection behavior using JQuery to trap touch events and dynamically modifying the DOM to change the background color of selected regions of text. I built a fake UIActionBar control as a hidden DIV, positioning it and unhiding it whenever there was an active selection region. Not too shabby. The main problem is that it's SLOOOOOOOW. Scrolling through the document is nice and quick, but dynamically changing the DOM is not very snappy. Plus, I couldn't figure out how to recreate the magnifier loupe, so my fake text-selection GUI doesn't look quite the same as the native implementation. Also, I haven't yet implemented the communication bridge between the javascript layer and the objective-c layer (where the rest of the app lives), but it was shaping up to be a huge hassle. So I've been looking at CoreText, but there are precious few examples on the web. I spent a little time with this simple little demo: http://github.com/jonasschnelli/I7CoreTextExample/ It shows how to use CoreText to draw an NSAttributedText string into a UIView. But it has its own problems: It doesn't implement text-selection behavior, and it doesn't present a UIActionBar, so I don't have any idea how to make that happen. And, more importantly, it tries to draw the entire document all at once, with significant performance degradations for long documents. My documents can have thousands of paragraphs, and less than 1% of the document is ever on screen at a time. On the plus side, these documents already contain precise formatting information. I know the exact page-position of every line of text, so I don't need a layout engine. Does anyone know how to implement this sort of view using CoreText? I understand that a full-fledged implementation is overkill for a question like this, but I'm looking for a good CoreText example with a few basic requirements: 1) Precise layout & formatting control (using the formatting metrics and text styles I've already calculated). 2) Arbitrary selection of text. 3) Customization of the UIActionBar. 4) Efficient recycling of resources for off-screen objects. I'd be happy to implement my own recycling when text elements scroll off-screen, but wouldn't that require re-implementing UIScrollView? I'm brand-new to iPhone development, and still getting used to Objective-C, but I've been working in other languages (Java, C#, flex/actionscript, etc) for more than ten years, so I feel confident in my ability to get the work done, if only I had a better feel for the iPhone SDK and the common coding patterns for stuff like this. Is it just me, or does the SDK documentation really suck? Anyhow, thanks for your help!

  • StringBuffer behavior in LWJGL

    Okay, I've been programming in Java for about ten years, but am entirely new to LWJGL. I have a specific problem whilst attempting to create a text console. I have built a class meant to abstract input polling to it, which (in theory) captures key presses from the Keyboard object and appends them to a StringBuilder/StringBuffer, then retrieves the completed string after receiving the ENTER key. The problem is, after I trigger the String return (currently with ESCAPE), and attempt to print it to System.out, I consistently get a blank line. I can get an appropriate string length, and I can even sample a single character out of it and get complete accuracy, but it never prints the actual string. I could swear that LWJGL slipped some kind of thread-safety trick in while I wasn't looking. Then, next time when the same user logs in and searches for data, I want him to edit only new text in multiline TextBox, not removing or replacing previously entered text.   • UIWebView frame resize does not resize the inner content...

    Hi, if I change the frame of a UIWebView (scalesPageToFit property is YES), what do I have to do that the zooming level of a currently displayed webpage persists? Let's say I have a UIWebView frame with a width of 200 pixels, and has zoomed into a website so that only one column is visible. After changing the width to 300, I still see the column with the same size, and additional space at the left and right. But what I would need is that I still only see this column, but bigger. Any ideas what I have to do to achive this? I tried a lot of things, but nothing worked so far. By the way, the iPhone built in Safari browser does exactly this thing (with the same website, so it's not content related) when rotating the iPhone... I see the same content, bug bigger, NOT more content as it happens with my current version of code. Thanks for helping! Markus

  • Modifying a HTML page to fix several "bugs" add a function to next/previous on a option dropdown

    SOF, I've got a few problems plaguing me at the moment and am wondering if anyone could assist me with them. I'm trying to get Next Class | Previous Class to act as buttons so that when Next Class is clicked it will go to the next item in the dropdown list and for previous it would go to back one. There used to be a scroll bar that allowed me to scroll the main window left and right, it's missing because (I think it was to do with the scroll left and scroll right function) The footer at the bottom doesn't show correctly on mobile devices; for some reason it appears completely differently to as it does on a computer. The "bar" practically and the Scroll Left and Scroll buttons don't appear at all on mobile devices. The scroll left button is unable to be clicked for some reason, I'm unsure what I've done wrong. Refreshing the page resets the horizontal scroll position to far left (I'm pretty sure this relates to the scroll bar) I want to also find a way so that on mobile devices the the header will not show the placeholder image, however I can't work out what CSS media tag(s) I should be using.     I have a tileset of 8x8 pixel images, and I want to resize them in my game so they'd be double that (16x16 pixels, e.g. turning each pixel into a 2x2 block.) What I'm trying to achieve is a Minecraft-like effect, where you have small pixel images scale to larger blockier pixels. In Pyglet, the sprite's scale property blurs the pixels. Is there some other way? Update: So I changed my code, but I'm still having the same issue (nothing changed.)     This is very rookie question. I have a UIToolBar at the bottom which is supposed to animatedly move up and down with key board when the UIKeyBoard is displayed. I got that working with the help of UIKeyBoard Notifications. The view we are talking about has split view enabled. When device orientation is landscape, both the views as columns are shown [hope that makes sense]. When key board is shown, i do this CGSize keyBoardSize = [[notificationInfo objectForKey:UIKeyboardFrameEndUserInfoKey]CGRectValue].size; CGRect toolbarFrame= [BottomToolBar frame]; toolbarFrame.origin.y -= keyBoardSize.height; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.3]; BottomToolBar .frame = viewFrame; [UIView commitAnimations]; when key board is hiiden i do this toolbarFrame.origin.y += keyBoardSize.height; My Problem is when device orientation changes to landscape, when the key board is visible the bottom tool bar is gone. I see it move up quickly. I am not sure how to fix this. Can anyone help please? Also, is there a way to NOT make the key board span across both the views in the split view?

  • IKImageView resize is blocky

    I am putting an image into an IKImageView, and immediately sizing it to fit. Whenever I do this, the image originally appears at 1-1 size (huge) and then resizes down, which would be fine if the animation was smooth. However, the animation looks ... fluttery? There are big blocks, like 2 inches square, of the image that appear and shrink independently of each other. The effect is a little annoying, and almost to the level where it might give an epileptic a seizure... (I'm exaggerating a little). Is this a bug in IKImageView? Is it a bug in the animation? Will it go away if I turn off the animation (How do I do that? setAnimates: NO doesn't seem to do anything, nor does overloading animates to return NO in my subclass...     I am having a chart with titles for horizontal and vertical axis. the verticalAxisTitleAlignment property of the vertical axis renderer is set to vertical. The application is a portal sort of thing and this chart is placed inside a small window. on click of the window am resizing the parent of the chart. but at that time the title of the axis is blinking and it provides a feeling that the resizing is not smooth. I dont understand why this happens? does the tile renders each time when the component is maximized? is there any way to stop that? The main swf is 800 x 600 and the external swf is 300 x 200. After adding the external swf to the main swf the external swf expands it's size from 300 x 200 to the main swf's size: 800 x 600. How can i prevent this? I want the loaded swf to save it's original size. Cheers Rob

I've heard of the MeasureString() method, but my "Text" complicates matters because it could include page breaks. Could someone guide me with how to do this?

  • Importing tab based outline txt file into Word outline

    Given a text file containing and outline with tabs to indent each level, I would like to import this into a Word 2007 document so that the each indentation level is converted to a H1, H2, etc heading level. I tried copy pasting the text into the outline view and opening the text file via File, Open. Both did not give the expected result. Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 1 Level 2 Note: I am using spaces instead of tabs to indent this sample.

  • Chrome Facebook Connect Window Resize

    I am experiencing a weird issue in Google Chrome for Mac OS X (10.6). I am using the JS Facebook Connect library and FB.Connect.streamPublish to share a story on a users profile. If the user is already logged in to Facebook prior to coming to the share page on my site, there's no problem - the window opens as an absolutely positioned div above the rest of my site. If the user is not logged in, though, a pop-up window opens that asks the user to log in. This works perfectly in Firefox, but when using Chrome, when the Facebook login window opens, it starts gradually resizing itself until it becomes a narrow column - when manually resizing the window, it gradually reverts back to the narrow column. I googled this problem and found that some users are experiencing the same issue, but I could not find a solution. Does anybody know anything about this? Shape shadows may be set by right-clicking on a shape (including a text box), choosing Format Text, then selecting Shadow or using VBA via the Shadow property on each shape: For Each Slide In ActivePresentation.Slides For Each Shape In Slide.Shapes Shape.Shadow.Size = 100 'etc Next Next How do I set text shadow's properties using VBA? In the UI, these may be accessed by right-clicking on text, choosing Format Text Effect, then selecting Shadow. I've done a bit of digging online and have been unable to find where these properties may be accessed via PowerPoint's VBA API. Thank you, Ben
