  • how do I check if a c++ string is an int?

    - by user342231
    when I use getline, I would input a bunch of strings or numbers, but I only want the while loop to output the "word" if it is not a number. so is there any way to check if "word" is a number or not, I know I could use atoi() for c-strings but how about for strings of the string class int main () { stringstream ss (stringstream::in | stringstream::out); string word; string str; getline(cin,str); ss<<str; while(ss>>word) { //if( ) cout<<word<<endl; } }

  • C struct print, decode this code?

    - by pauliwago
    I am in the process of studying for a test, and I'm trying to work through some practice problems. I've been working on this a while now..but can't figure it out. Please take a look at the code fragment: union { int i; short x; unsigned short u; float f; } testout; testout.i=0xC0208000; Before I ask the question, can someone please explain to me how the above code works?? My guess is that testout.i=0xC0208000 puts either an int, short, unsigned short, or float and puts the result in that address. (?) The question is what prints out if we write printf("%d", testout.x)? I know we should expect digits....but I have no idea where they are getting the digits from....there is no output. Any explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Mirroring a portion of the screen to an external display (in OSX)

    - by Adam
    I would like to write a program that can mirror a portion of the main display into a new window. Ideally this new window could then be displayed on an external monitor. I have seen this uiltity for a flightsim that does this on a pc (a multifunction display extractor). MFDex http://trac2.assembla.com/lightnings..._x86_Setup.msi I have looked at screen magnifiers or vnc clients for ideas but I think I need to write something from scratch. I have tried to do some reading on osx programing but where do I start in terms of gaining access to the display? I somehow need to extract the graphics from a particular program. Is it best to go near the final output stage (the individual pixels sent to the display) or somewhere nearer the window management stage. Any ideas or pointers would be much appreciated. I just need somewhere to start from. Regards,

  • dojo TimeTextBox don't listen to on blur event

    - by kawtousse
    Hi everyone, I want to add an on blur event to a dojo timetextbox but the event never been runned so the declaration of the timetextbox is like this: <label>End</label><input id="endp" name="endp" onBlur="calculateTimeSpent2(startp,endp,output);" /> the javascript function is like this: function calculateTimeSpent2(startp,endp,outputp) { var tmp0=document.getElementById('startp').value.split(':'); var tmp1=document.getElementById('endp').value.split(':'); if (tmp0[0]!='' && tmp1[0]!='') { var val1= findtime(tmp0[0],tmp0[1],tmp1[0],tmp1[1]); var tmp=val1.split(':'); if (tmp[0].indexOf('-')==-1) document.getElementById('outputp').value=val1; else { alert ("Start Time must be lower than End Time "); document.getElementById('endp').focus(); } } } I don't understand why dojo didn't execute the event correctly while loosing the focus. I tried to put the type=text but it does'nt work. Thanks for help.

  • Ruby on Rails: Is there a way to tell what fields failed validation in ActiveRecord?

    - by randombits
    I'm attempting to create an XML builder file that tells a user to know exactly what fields failed validation in the output. I also want to display their input back to them, so that requires me figuring out which fields failed validation. Meaning if someone fails on creating a new user resource, I want to display XML that's meaningful (Besides a meaningful HTTP status number) such as: <errors> <user> <email>bad@email: Invalid email format</email> </user> <errors> The above is tough to do in an XML builder file without knowing what field failed. And if I just iterate over error messages, I won't know how to prob my @user object to get the value that the user supplied.

  • Shuffling a list with a constraint

    - by 500
    Preparing a new psychophysic experiment, I have 48 original stimuli displayed 4 times (4 conditions). Resulting in 192 trials. Trying to randomize the order of presentation during the experiment, I need to maximize the distance between the 4 display of the same original stimuli. Please Consider : Table[{j, i}, {j, Range[48]}, {i, Range[4]}] Where j is the original stimuli number and i the condition Output Sample : {{1, 1}, {1, 2}, {1, 3}, {1, 4}, {2, 1}, {2, 2}, {2, 3}, {2, 4}, ... {47, 1}, {47, 2}, {47, 3},{47, 4}, {48, 1}, {48, 2}, {48, 3}, {48, 4}} How could I shuffle the order of presentation of those 192 items, maximizing the distance between identical item with regard to j the original stimuli number ?

  • Excel VBA : Changing string in cells

    - by user1265125
    I have cells with data like these: ABCD123XYZ MPOP345MLU . . . . What I want to do is, to remove the 3rd and 4th character from all these cells, hence giving AB123XYZ MP345MLU How do I do this in VBA? I have no idea about this language, and if someone can guide me in the right direction, it'd be great :) I understand I have to: 1. Declare 2 string variables st1 and st2 2. Store data from cell A1 into the variable st1 3. Copy all but the 2nd and 3rd char into str2 4. Output Str2 into B1 5. Move to A2

  • Printing Work Items in TFS

    - by user351671
    Hi, I am looking for a fancy way the print individual work items in TFS. OK ... maybe not the work item directly but I need to produce printable forms based on data on a work item. And by fancy I mean: header, footer, formatting, tables maybe ... stuff like that. No, I am not trying to print a list of work items, read carefully, I need an output based on a single work item. For those who are wondering "Why on earth do you need that?" I should say: We are keeping everything on TFS around here. (For now only software development stuff, but I am thinking bigger...) Sometimes somethings need to be on hard copy, to be signed for instance, and that is why I need printable forms.

  • How to read in the XML file on a remote website using JSP?

    - by Alex
    Hi, I'm using java servlets and jsp in my application and I need to read the remote XML file and properly render it into HTML and display on a web page...What is the technology used for reading process?Should I use HTTPURLConnection class to read the contents of the xml file or there is some other way? And also,if I use servlet as a controller and JSP as a view,what would be the responsibility of servlet and jsp in this process?Should servlet just read the whole XML file and then just pass the read output to JSP which will just print it and render properly using XSL for example? I really hope to hear from any people who may help, With kind regards

  • LINQ 2 SQL Insert Error

    - by Refracted Paladin
    I have the below LINQ method that I use to create the empty EmploymentPLan. After that I simply UPDATE. For some reason this works perfectly for myself but for my users they are getting the following error -- The target table 'dbo.tblEmploymentPrevocServices' of the DML statement cannot have any enabled triggers if the statement contains an OUTPUT clause without INTO clause. This application is a WinForm app that connects to a local SQL 2005 Express database. public static Guid InsertEmptyEmploymentPlan(int planID, string user) { using (var context = MatrixDataContext.Create()) { var empPlan = new tblEmploymentQuestionnaire { PlanID = planID, InsertDate = DateTime.Now, InsertUser = user, tblEmploymentJobDevelopmetService = new tblEmploymentJobDevelopmetService(), tblEmploymentPrevocService = new tblEmploymentPrevocService() }; context.tblEmploymentQuestionnaires.InsertOnSubmit(empPlan); context.SubmitChanges(); return empPlan.EmploymentQuestionnaireID; } }

  • How to write a value validation method for core data?

    - by mystify
    The docs say: you should implement methods of the form validate:error:, as defined by the NSKeyValueCoding protocol so lets say I have an attribute which is an int: friendAge I want to make sure that any friend may not be younger than 30. So how would I make that validation method? -validateFriendAge:error: What am I gonna do in there, exactly? And what shall I do with that NSError I get passed? I think it has an dictionary where I can return a humanly readable string in an arbitrary language (i.e. the one that's used currently), so I can output a reasonable error like: "Friend is not old enough"... how to do that?

  • Is there a way to get the expression in a string in vb.net

    - by Jim Thio
    LogEvents(System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(queryPlaces.ToBson)) I want to be able to output not just the content of System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(queryPlaces.ToBson) but also the actual string of System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(queryPlaces.ToBson) itself, perhaps with line numbers and file names. I know that I can do this easily with objective-c. How can I do that with .net? I've heard that that's what reflextion is for. But how? There is no macro in vb.net right?

  • Compiler: Translation to assembly

    - by sub
    I've written an interpreter for my experimental language and know I want to move on and write a small compiler for it. It will probably take the source, go through the same steps as the interpreter (tokenizer, parser) and then translate the source to assembly. Now my questions: Can I expect that every command in my language can be 1:1 translated to a bunch of assembly instructions? What I mean is if I will have to completely throw over the whole input program or if it is just translated to assembly per line. Which assembler should I use as output format?

  • Scala, represent pattern of boolean tuple into something else.

    - by Berlin Brown
    This is a cellular automata rule (input Boolean == Left, Center, Right Cell) and output Boolean . What is a better way to represent this in Scala. trait Rule { def ruleId() : Int def rule(inputState:(Boolean, Boolean, Boolean)) : Boolean override def toString : String = "Rule:" + ruleId } class Rule90 extends Rule { def ruleId() = 90 def rule(inputState:(Boolean, Boolean, Boolean)) : Boolean = { // Verbose version, show all 8 states inputState match { case (true, true, true) => false case (true, false, true) => false case (false, true, false) => false case (false, false, false) => false case _ => true } } }

  • git-svn clone checkouts wrong repo?

    - by hyperboreean
    So I am trying to switch to git, by using git-svn. I am having a svn repo called myrepo from which I want to clone just the project called myproject. The thing is that by running the following command: git svn clone path-to-repo/myrepo/myproject --stdlayout --prefix=svn myproject the whole repo myrepo is cloned rather than just myproject. I tried using -T, -t, -b as well to let git know about the layout of the project, but without any success. I always get the following output: Using higher level of URL: path-to-repo/myrepo/myproject => path-to-repo/myrepo and tries to clone that one. Am I doing something wrong? It might be that the svn repo layout could be broken or git incompatible ?

  • C++ wrapper for C library

    - by Maximilien
    Hi, Recently I found a C library that I want to use in my C++ project. This code is configured with global variables and writes it's output to memory pointed by static pointers. When I execute my project I would like 2 instances of the C program to run: one with configuration A and one with configuration B. I can't afford to run my program twice, so I think there are 2 options: Make a C++ wrapper: The problem here is that the wrapper-class should contain all global/static variables the C library has. Since the functions in the C library use those variables I will have to create very big argument-lists for those functions. Copy-paste the C library: Here I'll have to adapt the name of every function and every variable inside the C library. Which one is the fastest solution? Are there other possibilities to run 2 instances of the same C source? Thanks, Max

  • How to access the calling source line from interactive shell

    - by TJD
    I want to make a function that can determine the source code of how it was called. I'm aware of how to do this generally with the inspect module. For example, this question, works well and provides my desired output in the lines variable as shown below: def hello(x): frame,filename,line_number,function_name,lines,index=\ inspect.getouterframes(inspect.currentframe())[1] print(frame,filename,line_number,function_name,lines,index) The problem is that this solution doesn't work in an interactive command line session. For example, from a command line, the result looks like: >>> y = hello(7) (<frame object at 0x01ECA9E8>, '<stdin>', 1, '<module>', None, None) The problem is that the source file is '<stdin>', so the lines variable is None. How can I access the calling line to find the result containing the string y = hello(7) during an interactive session?

  • Passing parameters in VBA for Access

    - by Newbie
    In Access 2007 I have created a form with a textbox and a button. At the moment, when I press the button, I load a query with the textbox data passed as a parameter to the query criteria. I would like to change this so that all (manually input) options appear in a combobox (in place of the textbox). I would then like to pass the combobox text to a VBA module upon pressing the button. How do I do this? Similarly, I hope to output a different string from this module, and I hope to use this as the query criteria. How do I do this?

  • Bash intercepting wildcard in script

    - by MrRoth
    I am using Bash script to read line by line from a text file, which has special characters in it (regular expression). When I use echo "${SOME_VAR}" it does not display the text as is. I am familiar with Prevent * to be expanded in the bash script. How can I display and use the text as is? UPDATE The text (TSV) file holds tuples similar to (the last entry is a psql query) bathroom bathroom select name from photos where name ~* '\mbathroom((s)?|(''s)?)\M'; I am reading the CSV as follows: tail -n+2 text.file | while IFS=$'\t' read x y z do echo "${z}" done which gives the output select name from photos where name ~* 'mbathroom((s)?|(''s)?)M'); note that the '\' is missing

  • How would I write a virtual CD/DVD burner that would allow programs that burn to write to ISO?

    - by Ryan
    I want to write an app that will allow a program like iTunes which normally will recognize a DVD/CD burner to recognize a virtual one and then write to it creating an ISO. I would guess to use C/C++... can someone point me in the right direction as to how this can be done? Basically it would be a virtual CD/DVD burner that would output an ISO file to the hard drive. I want to do this for both the usefulness of it as well as the challenge, just need an idea of how to approach it, have no idea how to write virtual hardware.

  • Create a complex SQL query?

    - by mazzzzz
    Hey guys, I have a program that allows me to run queries against a large database. I have two tables that are important right now, Deposits and withdraws. Each contains a history of every user. I need to take each table, add up every deposit and withdraws (per user), then subtract the withdraws from the deposits. I then need to return every user whos result is negative (aka they withdrew more then they deposited). Is this possible in one query? Example: Deposit Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |1 | Use1 |100.00| |2 | Use1 |50.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | WithDraw Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |2 | Use2 | 5.00 | |1 | Use1 |100.00| |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | So then the result would output: |OverWithdrawers| | Use2 | Is this possible (I sure don't know how to do it)? Thanks for any help, Max

  • Wordpress parses wp_posts.post_content before rendering?

    - by John
    I noticed that when I call the the_post() or the_content() function from my wordpress template, it automatically parses the database data to replace new lines with <br/>, wraps the text with <p> tags etc...There's probably some kind of "format" function within the_post() or the_content(). I wrote a query to directly get posts from the wp_posts. I then print it out like <?php $results = $wp->get_results($sql) foreach($results as $row) echo $row->post_content; ?> Clearly, this data is not parsed by wordpress' "format" function. What is the proper way to output this content such that it undergoes the same "formatting" functions as the_post() or the_content()?
