• Spring ROO issue with UrlRewrite in STS (eclipse)

- by user224270
Hi. I'm having trouble figuring out how to solve this issue. I have a file called: "urlrewrite.xml" which was automatically generated by spring ROO after running the "controller" command in ROO Shell. However, I still get the following error: "Referenced file contains errors (http://tuckey.org/res/dtds/urlrewrite3.0.dtd). For more information, right click on the message in the Problems View and select "Show Details..." Here's the content of the urlrewrite.xml file: <urlrewrite default-match-type="wildcard"> <rule> <from>/resources/**</from> <to last="true">/resources/$1</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/static/WEB-INF/**</from> <set type="status">403</set> <to last="true">/static/WEB-INF/$1</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/static/**</from> <to last="true">/$1</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/</from> <to last="true">/app/index</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/app/**</from> <to last="true">/app/$1</to> </rule> <rule> <from>/**</from> <to>/app/$1</to> </rule> <outbound-rule> <from>/app/**</from> <to>/$1</to> </outbound-rule> </urlrewrite> Any thoughts on how to get rid of this error?

• How can I hot deploy using the glassfish adapter in Eclipse

- by Greg
Has anyone gotten the glassfish v3 adapter to work with Eclipse without restarting every time there's a code change? I tried to set this up but the adapter "republishes" every time I change any file, which is very annoying. It takes up to 3 minutes and locks up my machine for a second. I must remember to constantly stop the adapter before making any changes. I'd settle for just disabling this "feature", but even if I uncheck "publish change immediately" this behavior still happens. I'm using the latest version of the glassfish adapter and tried with eclipse 3.5 and the 3.6 milestone builds.... What setup is everyone using if you have glassfish v3 as your server? Is there any way to actually get the hot deploy feature to work correctly?

• PriorityQueue update problems

- by Bharat
After going through a bunch of questions here on SO, I still have no idea what exactly is going wrong with my code and would appreciate some help. I'm trying to implement a priority queue based on f-costs for an A* algorithm, and while the algorithm works fine for short pathfinding distances, it seems to go wrong when there's an obstacle or when the distance between start and goal points is greater than about 30 squares (although sometimes it screws up for less too). while(!m_qOpenList.isEmpty()) { m_xCurrent=m_qOpenList.poll(); m_xCurrent.setBackground(Color.red); m_qClosedList.add(m_xCurrent); if(m_xCurrent.getStatus()==2) { System.out.println("Target Reached"); solved=true; break; } iX=m_xCurrent.getXCo(); iY=m_xCurrent.getYCo(); for(i=iX-1;i<=iX+1;i++) for(j=iY-1;j<=iY+1;j++) { if(i<0||j<0||i>m_iMazeX||j>m_iMazeX||(i==iX&&j==iY) || m_xNode[i][j].getStatus()==4|| m_qClosedList.contains(m_xNode[i][j])) continue; m_xNode[i][j].score(m_xCurrent,m_xGoal); m_qOpenList.add(m_xNode[i][j]); } } It's quite rudimentary as I'm just trying to get it to work for now. m_qOpenList is the PriorityQueue. The problem is that when I debug the program, at some point (near an obstacle), a Node with a fcost of say 84 has higher priority than a node with an fcost of 70. I am not attempting to modify the values once they're on the priority queue. You'll notice that I add at the end of the while loop (I read somewhere that the priorityqueue reorders itself when stuff is added to it), and poll right after that at the beginning. Status of 2 means the Node is the goal, and a status of 4 means that it is unwalkable. public int compareTo(Node o) { if(m_iF<o.m_iF) return -1; if(m_iF>o.m_iF) return 1; return 0; } And that's the compareTo function. Can you see a problem? =(

• Unwanted Log4J output in a Tomcat app

- by Bytecode Ninja
I have the following log4j config setup for my Web app which is being deployed to Tomcat: # Set root logger level to DEBUG and its only appender to A1. log4j.rootLogger=INFO, A1 # A1 is set to be a ConsoleAppender. log4j.appender.A1=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender # A1 uses PatternLayout. log4j.appender.A1.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.A1.layout.ConversionPattern=%m%n log4j.logger.org.hibernate=WARN log4j.logger.org.apache=WARN And it is being picked up by the Log4J as modifying the ConversionPattern affects the logs printed to the console. However there are unwanted and unasked-for logging outputs interleaving my log outputs as it can be seen in the following example: Apr 18, 2010 4:14:55 PM com.acme.web.OpenSessionInViewFilter doFilter INFO: Closing session Apr 18, 2010 4:14:56 PM com.acme.web.OpenSessionInViewFilter doFilter INFO: Entering Apr 18, 2010 4:14:57 PM com.acme.web.OpenSessionInViewFilter doFilter INFO: Commiting transaction Apr 18, 2010 4:14:57 PM com.acme.web.OpenSessionInViewFilter doFilter INFO: Closing session Why are "Apr 18, 2010 4:14:57 PM com.acme.web.OpenSessionInViewFilter doFilter" and other similar log statements printed on the console? Also why are they not formatted according to my Log4J config? Thanks in advance.

I tried to deploy the sample application from this tutorial: http://united-coders.com/phillip-steffensen/developing-a-simple-soap-webservice-using-spring-30-apache-cxf-226-and-maven-2 In eclipse everything works fine, but i went to troubles when deploying the service. The cxf-java2ws-plugin throws a ClassNotFoundException for org.springframework.core.NestedRuntimeException. Here is my maven pom build plugin (copy from the example) <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.cxf</groupId> <artifactId>cxf-java2ws-plugin</artifactId> <version>${cxf.version}</version> <dependencies> <dependency> <groupId>org.apache.cxf</groupId> <artifactId>cxf-rt-frontend-jaxws</artifactId> <version>${cxf.version}</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.apache.cxf</groupId> <artifactId>cxf-rt-frontend-simple</artifactId> <version>${cxf.version}</version> </dependency> </dependencies> <executions> <execution>
<phase>process-classes</phase> <configuration> <className>vn.vdconline.ws.sso.PersonService</className> <genWsdl>true</genWsdl> <verbose>true</verbose> </configuration> <goals> <goal>java2ws</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> </plugin> Please tell me if i missed any thing. • Web service request ignores basic WSDL XML element restrictions

- by Oliver
Hi all, I have encountered some difficulties while trying to validate an incoming soap message to a service I have running on JBoss AS (v. 5.1.0). In my code, I have explicitly set some fields to be required, eg: public class MyClass { @XmlElement(required=true, nillable=false) private List<myOtherObjects> myList; } This requirement is also reflected in the WSDL (note the lack of minOccurs="0"): <xs:element maxOccurs="unbounded" name="myList" type="tns:myOtherObjects" /> However, when I do a test soap message that has myList set to empty or null, these restrictions are completely ignored, forcing me to validate manually within the application logic on the service. I did some searching on the Internet and found out that, on WebLogic, the validation does not seem to be enabled by default, though it can be turned on by modifying the weblogic-webservices.xml file. (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=783972&tstart=115) I’m wondering if there is something similar that I have to do with JBoss AS to enable automatic validation before the soap message reaches the service. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oliver

• Web Apps: Closeable Announcements/Info/Tooltip boxes (how to implement)

- by Daxon
I want to understand how to implement an announcement/info box system that displays a box for the user with information. The user can do nothing or close the box, but then it will never be seen again. E.g. Facebook home page. Box asking for Translators. if you leave it then its always there. But if you close it, it never appears again. Does this mean that a Boolean value needs to be used and checked for announcement/info boxes? I'm looking for a pseudo way with database tables to do this?

• How to implement login page using Spring Security so that it works with Spring web flow?

- by simon
I have a web application using Spring 2.5.6 and Spring Security 2.0.4. I have implemented a working login page, which authenticates the user against a web service. The authentication is done by defining a custom authentincation manager, like this: <beans:bean id="customizedFormLoginFilter" class="org.springframework.security.ui.webapp.AuthenticationProcessingFilter"> <custom-filter position="AUTHENTICATION_PROCESSING_FILTER" /> <beans:property name="defaultTargetUrl" value="/index.do" /> <beans:property name="authenticationFailureUrl" value="/login.do?error=true" /> <beans:property name="authenticationManager" ref="customAuthenticationManager" /> <beans:property name="allowSessionCreation" value="true" /> </beans:bean> <beans:bean id="customAuthenticationManager" class="com.sevenp.mobile.samplemgmt.web.security.CustomAuthenticationManager"> <beans:property name="authenticateUrlWs" value="${WS_ENDPOINT_ADDRESS}" /> </beans:bean> The authentication manager class: public class CustomAuthenticationManager implements AuthenticationManager, ApplicationContextAware { @Transactional @Override public Authentication authenticate(Authentication authentication) throws AuthenticationException { //authentication logic return new UsernamePasswordAuthenticationToken(principal, authentication.getCredentials(), grantedAuthorityArray); } The essential part of the login jsp looks like this: <c:url value="/j_spring_security_check" var="formUrlSecurityCheck"/>
<c:if test="${not empty param.error}"> ${sessionScope["SPRING_SECURITY_LAST_EXCEPTION"].message} </c:if>
Username: Password: Now the problem is that the application should use Spring Web Flow. After the application was configured to use Spring Web Flow, the login does not work anymore - the form action to "/j_spring_security_check" results in a blank page without error message. What is the best way to adapt the existing login process so that it works with Spring Web Flow?

• Sending Illegal XML Characters in Soap Request

- by SK
I am trying to send special (&, ' (single quote)) characters in the Soap Request. I am using axis 1.4. The webservice client is in weblogic server and the webservice server is an ibm mainframe (COBOL program). The request data from the client contains special character (& symbol) which is converted to & I tried to enclose it with CDATA as Some Name & Some Data which got converted to <![CDATA[Some Name & Some Data]]> The webservice client is generated from wsdl, so I couldn't use CDATA api to construct the request. I am able to set it as string value, and it is getting converted. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any more information on this.

Does API allow you to do? Thank you in advance

• jqGrid problem, expecting jQuery.jgrid but $.jgrid exists instead

- by Sam
I'm using jqGrid for a JIRA plugin and have included the jquery and jqgrid libraries as web resources. I've set up a column in jqGrid as required and when I try to submit the form with the respective column empty I get an error in firebug: jQuery.jgrid is undefined jQuery.jgrid is null but $.jgrid has the correct data. Does anyone know how I can set up jqgrid so that it points to the $.jgrid without having to change all the source code? or any other way round this? Thanks

• Looking for evolutionary music example code

- by Dan Dyer
I would like to implement an interactive evolutionary algorithm for generating music (probably just simple melodies to start with). I'd like to use JFugue for this. Its website claims that it is well-suited to evolutionary music, but I can't find any evolutionary examples. I already have a framework to provide the evolutonary machinery. What I am looking for is some simple, working code that demonstrates viable approaches for the musical part (e.g. suitable encodings and evolutionary operators for the evolved tunes). I have some ideas how it might be achieved, but I'm not particularly knowledgeable about music theory, so to start with I'd like to just reimplement something that is known to work. So does anybody have, or know of, any freely available code (any language is fine) that demonstrates one or more approaches to evolutionary music? EDIT: I'm specifically looking for evolutionary code rather than other techniques that could be used for music synthesis.

• How to update maven repository in eclipse?

- by Stephane Grenier
Assuming you're already using the m2eclipse plugin, what can you do it doesn't update the dependencies to the latest in your repo. For example, on the command line you can just add the -U flag as in: mvn clean install -U to force the dependencies to be updated. Is there something like this within eclipse since it doesn't always seem to pick up the latest updates.

• How to assert that a certain exception is thrown in jUnit4.5 tests

- by SCdF
How can use jUnit4.5 idiomatically to test that come code throws an exception? While I can certainly do something like this: @Test public void testFooThrowsIndexOutOfBoundsException() { boolean thrown = false; try { foo.doStuff(); } catch (IndexOutOfBoundsException e) { thrown = true; } assertTrue(thrown); } I recall that there is an annotation or an Assert.xyz or something that is far less cludgy and far more in-the-spirit of jUnit for these sorts of situations.

• question about joGL (glTexImage2D)

Hi everybody I was trying to load a texture using joGL library but it seems that something is missing when using this method glTexImage2D at : IOStream wdis = new IOStream(fileName); wdis.skipBytes(18); int width = wdis.readIntW(); // dis.skipBytes(2); int height = wdis.readIntW(); // dis.skipBytes(2); wdis.skipBytes(28); byte buf[] = new byte[wdis.available()]; wdis.read(buf); wdis.close(); gl.glBindTexture(GL.GL_TEXTURE_2D, BMPtextures[index]); gl.glTexImage2D(GL.GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, 3, width, height, 0, GL.GL_BGR, GL.GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, buf); gl.glTexParameteri(GL.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL.GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER, GL.GL_LINEAR); gl.glTexParameteri(GL.GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL.GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL.GL_LINEAR); as IOStream is a class that extends DataInputStream it shows a message that glTexImage2D(int,int,int,int,int,int,int,int,byte[]) is not found at javax.media.opengl.GL I couldn't figure the problem her because it's an open source code and it seems to work perfectly with my friends but unfortunately not with me even though we are using the same library and the same JDK version what shall I do ??

• How does the timeout work in Restlet's client class?

- by Greg Noe
Here's some code: Client client = new Client(Protocol.HTTP); client.setConnectTimeout(1); //milliseconds Response response = client.post(url, paramRepresentation); System.out.println("timed out"); What I would expect to happen is that it prints "timed out" before the resource has time to process. Instead, nothing happens with the timeout and it doesn't print "timed out" until after the resource returns. Even if I put a Thread.sleep(5000) at the resource that's handling the request, the entire sleep is performed, like the timeout did nothing. Anyone have experience with this? I'm using Restlet 1.1.1. Thanks.
