• WCF service with Factory attribute on .svc is not working on web server (IIS6), but is locally using

  I am working on implementing a non web.config approach of WCF services using the factory attribute on the .svc file per Rick Strahl's blog post: Factory="System.ServiceModel.Activation.WebScriptServiceHostFactory" Locally, I am running IIS7 in Visual Studio 2008 and have no problem, but when I deploy to my web server (currently running IIS6), I am getting an authentication error in the event log: Exception: System.ServiceModel.ServiceActivationException: The service '/Services/ResourcesService.svc' cannot be activated due to an exception during compilation. The exception message is: IIS specified authentication schemes 'IntegratedWindowsAuthentication, Anonymous', but the binding only supports specification of exactly one authentication scheme. Valid authentication schemes are Digest, Negotiate, NTLM, Basic, or Anonymous. Change the IIS settings so that only a single authentication scheme is used.. --- System.InvalidOperationException: IIS specified authentication schemes 'IntegratedWindowsAuthentication, Anonymous', but the binding only supports specification of exactly one authentication scheme. I still get web service failed on the calls. IIS7 by default only had anonymous. I do not have any entries in my web.config for the services (I stripped them out per this pattern). I am using a nant script to deploy the website to the server and use this also locally to verify the script was not causing the issue. Any known issue with this? IIS 6 not able to handle?

Externally looks fine but the problem is the numbering, I am getting for the Figures the number 5.2, that is the same number that a Figure I have before (The correct number should be 5.3). However if I try to reference the figures: \ref{fig:fig1}, \ref{fig:fig2} y \ref{fig:fig2} I get: 5.3a, 5.3b y 5.2c The two first right the last one wrong. • How to programmatically show & hide BalloonPopupExtender?

  I have a page that will be having few buttons that will redirect user to certain pages that required them to login before to proceed to the page. I would like to have something like, when user click on the button that required login and if user is not logged in prior to the click, a tooltip will show up beside the 'User ID' textbox to inform user to login in order to proceed. So, I implemented the jQuery Tooltipster in the page to show the tooltip message. I'm having problem on IE8 in Windows XP where the first click on the button, the tooltip would show up, but the second click it wouldn't then the third click, it shows up again and then the fourth click, it wouldn't! But for IE8 in Windows 7, IE9 & IE10, they have no such problem. Any idea how to fix this? The 'imgBtnKISS' & 'lnkBtnKISS' buttons are located in a content page but the tooltip and the 'User ID' textbox are in a master page. • Calling Msbuild from Php - Wrong Codepage and Culture

• VS2010 Ultimate - Unable to launch ASP.NET Development Server

  I've worked with ASP.NET once before and had a project where it was potentially useful, so I started creating an ASP.NET website as part of a solution that contained several C# class libraries. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Edition and Windows 7 Professional x64. The issue is that when I try to debug my website project, I get the following error message: Unable to launch the ASP.NET Development Server There's no other information (it seems a popular variant is the "port in use" error). Interestingly, I can run single pages on the application by right-clicking on the ASPX and selecting "View in Browser". This does not allow me to debug into my breakpoints, though. I have no clue what the problem could be. I'm running VS2010 in Administrator mode. One of the questions that popped up here suggested I uncomment the "127.0.0.1 localhost" line from my HOSTS file, which I did, and restarted VS with no luck. I also tried both setting a static port for the web server to run on as well as let it dynamically generate one. Both do not help the situation. Any help? Thanks.

  If you design a distributed application for easy scale-out, or you just want to make use of any of the new “cloud computing” offerings by Amazon, Google or Microsoft, there are some typical concepts or components you usually end up using: distributed blob storage (aka S3) asynchronous, durable message queues (aka SQS) non-Relational-/non-transactional databases (like SimpleDB, Google BigTable, Azure SQL Services) distributed background worker pool load-balanced, edge-service processes handling user requests (often virtualized) distributed caches (like memcached) CDN (content delivery network like Akamai) Now when it comes to design and sketch an architecture that makes use of such patterns, are there any commonly used symbols I could use? Or even a download with some cool Visio stencils? :) It doesn’t have to be a formal system like UML but I think it would be great if there were symbols that everyone knows and understands, like we have commonly used shapes for databases or a documents, for example. I think it would be important to not mix it up with traditional concepts like a normal file system (local or network server/SAN), or a relational database. Simply speaking, I want to be able to draw some conclusions about an application’s scalability or data consistency issues by just looking at the system architecture overview diagram. Update: Thank you very much for your answers. I like the idea of putting a small "cloud symbol" on the traditional symbols. However I leave this thread open just in case someone will find specific symbols (maybe in a book or so) - or uploaded some pimped up Visio stencils ;)

• Jquery Fancybox not working after postback

  I have a Fancybox (or more accurately) a number of fancy boxes on an asp.net page. My Fancybox (jquery plugin) works fine until a postback occurs on the page then it refuses to work. Any thoughts? Anyone experienced similar behaviour? UPDATE : Some Code.. I have a databound repeater with a fancybox on each repeating item. UPDATE : It's not a problem with the flash.. It is not a problem with the flash as i've tried it without the flash, it wont even pop a window with a simple message in. • How to get friendly device name from DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE and Device Instance ID

  I've registered a window with RegisterDeviceNotification and can successfully recieve DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE messages. However, the dbcc_name field in the returned struct is always empty. The struct I have is defined as such: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)] public struct DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE { public int dbcc_size; public int dbcc_devicetype; public int dbcc_reserved; public Guid dbcc_classguid; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr)] public string dbcc_name; } And I'm using Marshal.PtrToStructure on the LParam of the WM_DEVICECHANGE message. Should this be working? Or even better... Is there an alternative way to get the name of a device upon connection? • Rails3 and Paperclip

  Hi, I have migrated my application from rails 2.3 to rails3 and i have a problem with paperclip. I saw there was a branch for rails3 on paperclip git. So I added "gem 'paperclip', :git = 'git://github.com/thoughtbot/paperclip.git', :branch = 'rails3'" into the Gemfile and launch the command bundle install. Once paperclip installed, the upload worked fine but not the styles. I saw a hack to fix it. # in lib/paperclip/attachment.rb at line 293 def callback which #:nodoc: # replace this line... # instance.run_callbacks(which, @queued_for_write){|result,obj| result == false } # with this: instance.run_callbacks(which, @queued_for_write) end The styles are ok after that, but i'm not able to active the processor.   Hi everyone, Due to user confusion, our app requires separate installers for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. While the 32-bit installer runs fine on win64, it has the potential to create support headaches and we would like to prevent this from happening. I want to prevent the 32-bit MSI installer from running on 64-bit Windows machines. To that end I have the following condition: <Condition Message="You are attempting to run the 32-bit installer on a 64-bit version of Windows."> <![CDATA[Msix64 AND (NOT Win64)]]> </Condition> With the Win64 defined like this: <?if $(var.Platform) = "x64"?> <?define PlatformString = "64-bit"?> <?define Win64 ?> <?else?> <?define PlatformString = "32-bit"?> <?endif?> Thing is, I can't get this check to work right. Either it fires all the time, or none of the time. The goal is to check presence of the run-time msix64 variable against the compile-time Win64 variable and throw an error if these don't line up, but the logic is not working how I intend it to. • iphone: Help with AudioToolbox Leak: Stack trace/code included here...

  Part of this app is a "Scream" button that plays random screams from cast members of a TV show. I have to bang on the app quite a while to see a memory leak in Instruments, but it's there, occasionally coming up (every 45 seconds to 2 minutes.) The leak is 3.50kb when it occurs.   UPDATE: It's working as expected just needed to pass the correct Id, DUH!~ I have a custom object in salesforce, kind of like the comments section on a case for example. When you add a new comment it has a date/time stamp for that entry, I wanted to update the previous case comment date/time stamp when a new case comment is created.   I have an Action that needs to read a file from a secure location, so I have to use impersonation to read the file. But if I replace these 2 lines: var bytes = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(path); return File(bytes, "application/octet-stream", "FileName"); with this: return File(path, "application/octet-stream", "FileName"); It does NOT work and I get the error message: Access to the path 'c:\projects\uploads\1\aa2bcbe7-ea99-499d-add8-c1fdac561b0e\Untitled 2.csv' is denied. I guess using the File results with a path, tries to open the file at a later time in the request pipeline when I have already "undone" the impersonation. Remember, the impersonation code works because I can read the file in the bytes array. What I want to do though is stream the file to the client. Any idea how I can work around this?   I have a simple PoC project in Hudson. The PoC has unit tests written via UnitTest++ and outputs the results as XML for consumption by xUnit to munge into jUnit format. Here are the salient relevant I have my project configured to use MSBuild to build the 2008 solution. The project contains both the dll it is to build and the unit tests which are run as a post-build step. My workspace in Hudson is set to c:\develop\money (Money is the name of the project) and in the Hudson console I can see the workspace folders, the solution file and output folders (/bin, /doc, etc). The test console app outputs its file 'money_unit_tests.xml' to the folder 'reports' (making c:\develop\money\reports). I've restarted Hudson since installing xUnit and setting the workspace. However when I start Hudson building I am given the following message: [xUnit] Starting to record. [xUnit] [UnitTest] - Use the embedded style sheet. [xUnit] [ERROR] - No test report file(s) were found with the pattern 'reports/money_unit_tests.xml' relative to 'C:\.hudson\jobs\Money\workspace' for the testing framework 'UnitTest'. Did you enter a pattern relative to the correct directory? Did you generate the result report(s) for 'UnitTest'? [xUnit] Stopping recording. Finished: FAILURE Why does Hudson seem to think the workspace is in C:.hudson... and not C:\Develop...? What can I do change it? If I can't change it, what can I do to mitigate these changes? (I don't exactly want to hardcode the output for the xml to C:.hudson...)

Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." Another thing I would like to add: If I add reference (uses clause) to XPMan the app works fine on WinXP but then it my .manifest file makes no diference under Vista or Win7.

  I have two computers running SQL Server 2008 Express: c01 and c02, I setup both for remote connection using windows authentication. Worked fine for c02 but not for c01. This is the error message I'm getting: TITLE: Connect to Server Cannot connect to ACAMP001\SQLEXPRESS. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. Started the Sql Browser service as a local service Added Windows user to this group: "SQLServerMSSQLUser$c01$SQLEXPRESS" From Management Studio, I added "SQLServerMSSQLUser$c01$SQLEXPRESS" to SQLEXPRESS instance's logins under security folder, and I granted sysadmin permissions to it. Restarted c01\SQLEXPRESS Restarted Sql Browser service. There is no domain here. It's only a workgroup. Please any help is appreciated, Thank you.

• Authenticating Windows 7 against MIT Kerberos 5

  Hi There, I've been wracking my brains trying to get Windows 7 authenticating against a MIT Kerberos 5 Realm (which is running on an Arch Linux server). I've done the following on the server (aka dc1): Installed and configured a NTP time server Installed and configured DHCP and DNS (setup for the domain tnet.loc) Installed Kerberos from source Setup the database Configured the keytab Setup the ACL file with: *@TNET.LOC * Added a policy for my user and my machine: addpol users addpol admin addpol hosts ank -policy users [email protected] ank -policy admin tom/[email protected] ank -policy hosts host/wdesk3.tnet.loc -pw MYPASSWORDHERE I then did the following to the windows 7 client (aka wdesk3): Made sure the ip address was supplied by my DHCP server and dc1.tnet.loc pings ok Set the internet time server to my linux server (aka dc1.tnet.loc) Used ksetup to configure the realm: ksetup /SetRealm TNET.LOC ksetup /AddKdc dc1.tnet.loc ksetip /SetComputerPassword MYPASSWORDHERE ksetip /MapUser * * After some googl-ing I found that DES encryption was disabled by Windows 7 by default and I turned the policy on to support DES encryption over Kerberos Then I rebooted the windows client However after doing all that I still cannot login from my Windows client. :( Looking at the logs on the server; the request looks fine and everything works great, I think the issue is that the response from the KDC is not recognized by the Windows Client and a generic login error appears: "Login Failure: User name or password is invalid". The log file for the server looks like this (I tail'ed this so I know it's happening when the Windows machine attempts the login): If I supply an invalid realm in the login window I get a completely different error message, so I don't think it's a connection problem from the client to the server? But I can't find any error logs on the Windows machine? (anyone know where these are?) If I try: runas /netonly /user:[email protected] cmd.exe everything works (although I don't get anything appear in the server logs, so I'm wondering if it's not touching the server for this??), but if I run: runas /user:[email protected] cmd.exe I get the same authentication error. Any Kerberos Gurus out there who can give me some ideas as to what to try next? pretty please?

After applying SP1 pack on our SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 3.0) the workflows aren't working anymmore on one of the WebApplications (located in SSP2) Workflows work, however on other existing applications (on SSP1 or SSP2) or newly created applications (on SSP1 or SSP2). Details of error: 1. Default / Built in SharePoint Workflows are not starting 2. Sharepoint Designer Workflows throwing the following error message: "You do not have permissions to do this operation. Ask your website administrator to change your pemissions and then try again, or log on with another account that has this permission. To log on with another user account click ok. " 3. Before applying the SP1 on MOSS the workflows were working perfectly fine on this WebApplication. so far: 1. I am logged in as Administrator (bot on Sharepoint site or when working with Sharepoint Designer). 2. Administrator is included in the list Site Collection Administrators 3. I noticed in Sharepoint designer that the username used for creating the workflow is 'converted' into SHAREPOINT\system (in the Modified By Column). Has anybody come accross/fixed this error? • Could not find schema information for the element 'castle'.

  Hello! I'm creating a Custom tag in my web.config. I first wrote the following entry under the configSections section. <section name="castle" type="Castle.Windsor.Configuration.AppDomain.CastleSectionHandler, Castle.Windsor" /> But, when I try to create a castle node inside the configuration node as below <castle> <components> </components> </castle> I get the following error message:"*Could not find schema information for the element 'castle*'." "*Could not find schema information for the element 'components'***." Am I missing something? I can't find why. And, if I run the application anyway, I get the following error "Could not find section 'Castle' in the configuration file associated with this domain." Ps.// The sample comes from "Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework"/Steven Sanderson/APress ISBN-13 (pbk): 978-1-4302-1007-8" on page 99. Thank you for the help ============================================================ Since I believe to have done exactly what's said in the book and did not succed, I ask the same question in different terms. How do I add a new node using the above information? ============================================================================= Thank you. I did what you said and do not have the two warnings. However, I've go a big new warning: "The element 'configuration' in namespace 'MyWindsorSchema' has invalid child element 'configSections' in namespace 'MyWindsorSchema'. List of possible elements expected: 'include, properties, facilities, components' in namespace 'MyWindsorSchema'."
