• AppEngine BlobStore upload failing with a request that works in the Development Environment

- by Joe Ludwig
I have an AppEngine application that uses the blobstore to store user-provided image data. When I upload images to that application from a form in Chrome it works fine. When I try to upload an image from an Android application it fails. Both methods work fine if I am running against the development server, but the Android upload doesn't work against the live service. This is the request from Chrome: POST /_ah/upload/?userToken=11001/AMmfu6ZCyMQQ9YdiXal3SmSXIRTQIuSRXkNc-i3JmU0fqx_kJbUJ2OMLcS2lXhVJSK4qs7regViTKzOPz5ejoZYi0nAD5o8vNltiOViQw6DZO7_byZz3Ut0/ALBNUaYAAAAAS_lusgPMAGmpPrg0BuNsJyymX-57ob4i/ HTTP/1.1 Host: photohuntservice.appspot.com Connection: keep-alive User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/4.1.249.1064 Safari/532.5 Referer: http://photohuntservice.appspot.com/debug_newpuzzle?userToken=11001 Content-Length: 60360 Cache-Control: max-age=0 Origin: http://photohuntservice.appspot.com Content-Type: multipart/form-data; boundary=----WebKitFormBoundarybl05YLmLbFRf2MzN Accept: application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate, sdch Accept-Language: en-US,en;q=0.8 Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.3 ------WebKitFormBoundarybl05YLmLbFRf2MzN Content-Disposition: form-data; name="userToken" 11001 ------WebKitFormBoundarybl05YLmLbFRf2MzN Content-Disposition: form-data; name="img"; filename="Photo_020908_001.jpg" Content-Type: image/jpeg
------WebKitFormBoundarybl05YLmLbFRf2MzN Content-Disposition: form-data; name="longitude" -122.084095 ------WebKitFormBoundarybl05YLmLbFRf2MzN Content-Disposition: form-data; name="latitude" 37.422006 ------WebKitFormBoundarybl05YLmLbFRf2MzN-- This is the request from my client (which is written in Java on Android, but I don't think that's relevant): POST /_ah/upload/?userToken=11001/AMmfu6Zf9an6AU4lT9UuhIpxOZyOYb1LMwimFpeSh8zr6J1sX9F2ddJW3Qlsw0kwV3oALv-TNPWRQ6g4_Dgwk0UTwF47bbc78Yl44kDeV69MydTuR3N46S4/ALBNUaYAAAAAS_mMr3CYqTg3aVBDjhRxP0DyyRdvotyG/ HTTP/1.1 Content-Type: multipart/form-data;boundary=----WebKitFormBoundaryhdyNAhmOouRDGErG Cache-Control: max-age=0 Accept: */* Origin: http://photohuntservice.appspot.com Connection: keep-alive Referer: http://photohuntservice.appspot.com/getuploadurl?userToken=11001 Content-Length: 2638 Host: photohuntservice.appspot.com User-Agent: Apache-HttpClient/UNAVAILABLE (java 1.4) Expect: 100-Continue ------WebKitFormBoundaryhdyNAhmOouRDGErG Content-Disposition: form-data; name="userToken" 11001 ------WebKitFormBoundaryhdyNAhmOouRDGErG Content-Disposition: form-data; name="img";filename="PhotoHunt.jpg" Content-Type: image/jpeg
------WebKitFormBoundaryhdyNAhmOouRDGErG Content-Disposition: form-data; name="latitude" 37.422006 ------WebKitFormBoundaryhdyNAhmOouRDGErG Content-Disposition: form-data; name="longitude" -122.084095 ------WebKitFormBoundaryhdyNAhmOouRDGErG-- In both cases the AppEngine Python code to catch the request is the same: class UploadPuzzle( blobstore_handlers.BlobstoreUploadHandler ): def post(self): upload_files = self.get_uploads( ) The problem is that when running on the production AppEngine service self.get_uploads() returns an empty list when the request is made from my client app. Both requests return what I expect (a list with one blob_info in it) on the development server, and Chrome returns what I expect in both cases.

• silverlight Socket: Unhandled Error in Silverlight Application An attempt was made to access a sock

- by Yang
I basically try to reproduce the Socket example from here: http://www.silverlightshow.net/items/Sockets-and-their-implementation-in-SL2-Beta-1-including-a-chat-like-example.aspx I only made a small change in the client side, i.e., String safeHost = "127.0.0.1"; int port = 4509; Then I got this permission error? Any idea why? Unhandled Error in Silverlight Application An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.

• Automatically check bounced emails via POP3 ?

- by Johannes
Hi all, Can anyone recommend software or even a .net library to develop software, that will check for bounced emails and the reason for the bounce? I get bounced emails into a pop3 account that I can read then... I need it to keep my user database clean from invalid email addresses and want to automate this (mark user as invalid email). Thanks

• Create thumbnail image for PDF in Java

- by Shaggy Frog
I'm looking for a Java library that will can take a PDF and create a thumbnail image (PNG) from the first page. I've already looked at JPedal, but its insane licensing fee is completely prohibitive. I am using iText to manipulate PDF files at the moment, but I believe it doesn't do thumbnail generation. I can use something like Ghostscript on the command line, but I'm hoping to keep my project all-Java if possible.

• Switch from Microsofts STL to STLport

- by Laserallan
Hi! I'm using quite much STL in performance critical C++ code under windows. One possible "cheap" way to get some extra performance would be to change to a faster STL library. According to this post STLport is faster and uses less memory, however it's a few years old. Has anyone made this change recently and what were your results?

• How to print a web page without using the WebBrowser control

- by Martin Wiboe
Hi there, We are using a client application to print out grade sheets from an online application. This has been working flawlessly until the systems were upgraded to IE 8. I now receive this error (Access Denied): http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/5259/62270489.png Apparently, this is a known issue and it cannot be solved. How can I print HTML from a WinForms application without using the IE WebBrowser control? Thanks, Martin Wiboe

• Parser generator for JavaME

- by Anders K.
First: I have looked at this SO question but unfortunately there is no mention of JavaME I am looking for a parser/lexer generator that produces code that can run on the Blackberry and its (obnoxious) JavaME. E.g. at first I thought I could use ANTLR however it seems the run-time library is not compatible with JavaME TIA

• mingw 3.4.5 missing dlfcn.h?

- by lurscher
Hi, is it possible that my mingw 3.4.5 installation is faulty? or is this provided on some other library floating around? in case you are wondering, dlfcn.h is where stuff like dlopen and dlclose are defined, so it should be pretty standard

• Inspecting variables in Xdebug problems

- by tom
I've been using xdebug to do php debugging (netbeans or eclipse). I am usually able to inspect variables OK. However, sometimes when I expand a disclosure triangle for a variable -- typically when the client is making an AJAX call -- it will result in an empty response being returned and causing the AJAX call to fail. Has anyone run into this? Is there a way to make PHP debugging with xdebug more robust? (Not being able to inspect variables defeats the purpose of a debugger. Thanks

• Alternatives to Google Earth for sat image

- by Martin Beckett
I've been asked to add Google Earth images to a desktop app (civil engineering modelling app) I was under the impression that Google's license didn't allow you to do this. Are there any other easily accessible, and similarly high resolution, image sources anyone can recommend (Blue Marble, terraserver) ? As a bonus, any library that lets me use coordinates in a range of local map datums and convert them to Lat/Long without me having to incorporate the whole of CGAL?

• How to check if TcpClient Connection is closed?

- by Superdumbell
I'm playing around with the TcpClient and I'm trying to figure out how to make the Connected property say false when a connection is dropped. I tried doing NetworkStream ns = client.GetStream(); ns.Write(new byte[1], 0, 0); But it still will not show me if the TcpClient is disconnected. How would you go about this using a TcpClient?

• Flex Spark DropDownList selectedItem didn't update after dataProvider changed

- by Candy Chiu
I have two dataProvider's for one DropDownList. The following code can be compiled and run. <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" creationComplete="flipLast()" minWidth="955" minHeight="600"> <fx:Script> import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; public function flipLast():void { if( last ) { list.dataProvider = dp1; list.selectedItem = "Flex"; } else { list.dataProvider = dp2; list.selectedItem = "Catalyst"; } last = !last; } public var last:Boolean = true; public var dp1:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection( [ "Flex", "Air" ] ); public var dp2:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection( [ "Catalyst", "FlashBuilder" ] ); </fx:Script> <s:VGroup> <s:DropDownList id="list" requireSelection="true" /> <s:Label id="listSelectedItem" text="{list.selectedItem}" /> <s:Label id="listSelectedIndex" text="{list.selectedIndex}" /> <s:Button label="Flip" click="flipLast()" /> </s:VGroup> </s:Application> Scenario 1: dataProvider updated, but selectedIndex is the same. At startup: [ listSelectedItem=Flex, listSelectedIndex=1 ]. Click Flip: dataProvider is updated, but still [ listSelectedItem=Flex, listSelectedIndex=1 ]. Scenario 2: dataProvider updated, selectedIndex is also updated. At startup: [ listSelectedItem=Flex, listSelectedIndex=1 ]. Select Air from list: [ listSelectedItem=Air, listSelectedIndex=2 ]. Click Flip: dataProvider is updated, but still [ listSelectedItem=Catalyst, listSelectedIndex=1 ]. Seems to me that selectedItem is driven by selectedIndex. selectedItem updates only when selectedIndex updates. Shouldn't selectedItem be updated when dataProvider is updated? Is binding to selectedItem flawed?

• Equivalent of libwww-perl in .NET or Java

- by voidvector
I have written a crawler in Perl awhile back and it was super simple giving the high-level capability of libwww-perl. It is so straight forward in fact, it can take the raw HTML response of one request, and create the next HTTP request for you from the FORMs on that page (as in it will parse the HTML for you). Does anyone know any library like this on .NET or Java? Selenium is out of question because it requires the browser to be open, which we cannot accommodate in our implementation)

• How to automatically create Word documents which include list fields from a custom SharePoint list?

- by Marius
Hi, Is it possible to automatically create Word documents which include list fields from a custom SharePoint list? here is the scenario: - custom list (over 100 columns) - Word templates (not sure where is best to store them yet) - Entry Form will provide data for the templates (or partial data, ie Client name, Sales Rep) - a form that will have buttons (ie 'Create Order Form', 'Create PO') the idea is to be able to generate partial populated templates from a custom list with a puch of a button. All solutions are realy appreciated!!! Thanks,
