  • How do I get syncdb db_table and app_label to play nicely together

    - by Chris Heisel
I've got a model that looks something like this: class HeiselFoo(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=250) class Meta: """ Meta """ app_label = "Foos" db_table = u"medley_heiselfoo_heiselfoo" And whenever I run my test suite, I get an error because Django isn't creating the tables for that model. It appears to be an interaction between app_label and db_table -- as the test suite runs normally if db_table is set, but app_label isn't. Here's a link to the full source code: http://github.com/cmheisel/heiselfoo Here's the traceback from the test suite: E ====================================================================== ERROR: test_truth (heiselfoo.tests.HeiselFooTests) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Users/chris/Code/heiselfoo/ve/lib/python2.6/site-packages/heiselfoo/tests.py", line 10, in test_truth f.save() File "/Users/chris/Code/heiselfoo/ve/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/base.py", line 434, in save self.save_base(using=using, force_insert=force_insert, force_update=force_update) File "/Users/chris/Code/heiselfoo/ve/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/base.py", line 527, in save_base result = manager._insert(values, return_id=update_pk, using=using) File "/Users/chris/Code/heiselfoo/ve/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/manager.py", line 195, in _insert return insert_query(self.model, values, **kwargs) File "/Users/chris/Code/heiselfoo/ve/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/query.py", line 1479, in insert_query return query.get_compiler(using=using).execute_sql(return_id) File "/Users/chris/Code/heiselfoo/ve/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/sql/compiler.py", line 783, in execute_sql cursor = super(SQLInsertCompiler, self).execute_sql(None) File "/Users/chris/Code/heiselfoo/ve/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/sql/compiler.py", line 727, in execute_sql cursor.execute(sql, params) File "/Users/chris/Code/heiselfoo/ve/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/backends/sqlite3/base.py", line 200, in execute return Database.Cursor.execute(self, query, params) DatabaseError: no such table: medley_heiselfoo_heiselfoo ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 1 test in 0.004s FAILED (errors=1) Creating test database 'default'... • MYSQL Data -> PHP arrays -> Javascript (or Jquery) How can I pass the data with JSON ?

    - by Alex
I am starting with a new site (it's my first one) and I am getting big troubles ! I wrote this code <?php include("misc.inc"); $cxn=mysqli_connect($host,$user,$password,$database) or die("couldn't connect to server"); $query="SELECT DISTINCT country FROM stamps"; $result=mysqli_query($cxn,$query) or die ("couldn't execute query"); $numberOfRows=mysqli_num_rows($result); for ($i=0;$i<$numberOfRows;$i++){ $row=mysqli_fetch_assoc($result); extract($row); $a=json_encode($row); $a=$a.","; echo $a; } ?> and the output is as follows : {"country":"liechtenstein"},{"country":"romania"},{"country":"jugoslavia"},{"country":"polonia"}, which should be a correct JSON outout ... How can I get it now in Jquery ? I tried with $.getJSON but I am not able to fuse it properly. I don't want yet to pass the data to a DIV or something similar in HTML. Alex

  • Running Sybase ISQL scripts from windows batch file

    - by user1328709
I have already researched on this site as well as on google extensively for this. I have created a number of batch files that perform certain automated transactions(backups etc) on our production database. i want to further simplify my end of day processes by taking the dumps using a script that accepts input of some parameters. the script is able to login the isql prompt but unable to do the execution of the commands. @ECHO ***Started*** @ECHO Enter MonthDay(MMDD) SET /p md= @ECHO %md% mkdir \\10.20.1.17\arch\212%md%_banking set run=isql -Uuser -SORBITS -Ppass %run% @echo dump database banking to '/media/newArch/212%md%_banking/212%md%EOD_banking.dmp' with compression=5 @echo dump database master to '/media/newArch/212%md%_banking/212%md%EOD_master.dmp' @echo go pause I have been unsuccessful at putting these in a separate script file because the script itself uses a passed parameter. Please give me hints and links to Thanks

  • Using multiple aggregate functions in an (ANSI) SQL statement

    - by morpheous
I have aggregate functions foo(), foobar(), fredstats(), barneystats() I want to create a domain specific query language (DSQL) above my DB, to facilitate using a domain language to query the DB. The 'language' comprises of algebraic expressions (or more specifically SQL like criteria) which I use to generate (ANSI) SQL statements which are sent to the db engine. The following lines are examples of what the language statements will look like, and hopefully, it will help further clarify the concept: **Example 1** DQL statement: foobar('yellow') between 1 and 3 and fredstats('weight') > 42 Translation: fetch all rows in an underlying table where computed values for aggregate function foobar() is between 1 and 3 AND computed value for AGG FUNC fredstats() is greater than 42 **Example 2** DQL statement: fredstats('weight') < barneystats('weight') AND foo('fighter') in (9,10,11) AND foobar('green') <> 42 Translation: Fetch all rows where the specified criteria matches **Example 3** DQL statement: foobar('green') / foobar('red') <> 42 Translation: Fetch all rows where the specified criteria matches **Example 4** DQL statement: foobar('green') - foobar('red') >= 42 Translation: Fetch all rows where the specified criteria matches Given the following information: The table upon which the queries above are being executed is called 'tbl' table 'tbl' has the following structure (id int, name varchar(32), weight float) The result set returns only the tbl.id, tbl.name and the names of the aggregate functions as columns in the result set - so for example the foobar() AGG FUNC column will be called foobar in the result set. So for example, the first DQL query will return a result set with the following columns: id, name, foobar, fredstats Given the above, my questions then are: What would be the underlying SQL required for Example1 ? What would be the underlying SQL required for Example3 ? Given an algebraic equation comprising of AGGREGATE functions, Is there a way of generalizing the algorithm needed to generate the required ANSI SQL statement(s)? I am using PostgreSQL as the db, but I would prefer to use ANSI SQL wherever possible.

  • Strange behaviour of code inside TransactionScope?

    - by Krishna
We are facing a very complex issue in our production application. We have a WCF method which creates a complex Entity in the database with all its relation. public void InsertEntity(Entity entity) { using(TransactionScope scope = new TransactionScope()) { EntityDao.Create(entity); } } EntityDao.Create(entity) method is very complex and has huge pieces of logic. During the entire process of creation it creates several child entities and also have several queries to database. During the entire WCF request of entity creation usually Connection is maintained in a ThreadStatic variable and reused by the DAOs. Although some of the queries in DAO described in step 2 uses a new connection and closes it after use. Overall we have seen that the above process behaviour is erratic. Some of the queries in the inner DAO does not even return actual data from the database? The same query when run to the actaul data store gives correct result. What can be possible reason of this behaviour?

  • 2 large databases - worth merging into 1?

    - by Ardman
I have 2 large databases that were sharded before. I now have removed the sharding and have created a new database with all of the data except for the tables that were originally sharded. Is it worth importing this data into the new database, or keeping them as seperate entities that I can just scan through? We are talking around 60million records in each sharded table, of which there are 2 tables. Also, whilst I have an empty table, should I be adding indexes which weren't thought of when the database was originally constructed and now too large to add them?

  • Using PHP and SQLite

    - by Barry Shittpeas
I am going to use a small SQLite database to store some data that my application will use. I cant however get the syntax for inserting data into the DB using PHP to correctly work, below is the code that i am trying to run: <?php $day = $_POST["form_Day"]; $hour = $_POST["form_Hour"]; $minute = $_POST["form_Minute"]; $type = $_POST["form_Type"]; $lane = $_POST["form_Lane"]; try { $db = new PDO('sqlite:EVENTS.sqlite'); $db->exec("INSERT INTO events (Day, Hour, Minute, Type, Lane) VALUES ($day, $hour, $minute, $type, $lane);"); $db = NULL; } catch(PDOException $e) { print 'Exception : '.$e->getMessage(); } ?> I have successfully created a SQLite database file using some code that i wrote but i just cant seem to insert data into the database.

  • Generalizing Fibonacci sequeue with SICStus Prolog

    - by Christophe Herreman
I'm trying to find a solution for a query on a generalized Fibonacci sequence (GFS). The query is: are there any GFS that have 885 as their 12th number? The initial 2 numbers may be restricted between 1 and 10. I already found the solution to find the Nth number in a sequence that starts at (1, 1) in which I explicitly define the initial numbers. Here is what I have for this: fib(1, 1). fib(2, 1). fib(N, X) :- N #> 1, Nmin1 #= N - 1, Nmin2 #= N - 2, fib(Nmin1, Xmin1), fib(Nmin2, Xmin2), X #= Xmin1 + Xmin2. For the query mentioned I thought the following would do the trick, in which I reuse the fib method without defining the initial numbers explicitly since this now needs to be done dynamically: fib2 :- X1 in 1..10, X2 in 1..10, fib(1, X1), fib(2, X2), fib(12, 885). ... but this does not seem to work. Is it not possible this way to define the initial numbers, or am I doing something terribly wrong? I'm not asking for the solution, but any advice that could help me solve this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hashes vs Numeric id's

    - by Karan Bhangui
When creating a web application that some how displays the display of a unique identifier for a recurring entity (videos on YouTube, or book section on a site like mine), would it be better to use a uniform length identifier like a hash or the unique key of the item in the database (1, 2, 3, etc). Besides revealing a little, what I think is immaterial, information about the internals of your app, why would using a hash be better than just using the unique id? In short: Which is better to use as a publicly displayed unique identifier - a hash value, or a unique key from the database? Edit: I'm opening up this question again because Dmitriy brought up the good point of not tying down the naming to db specific property. Will this sort of tie down prevent me from optimizing/normalizing the database in the future? The platform uses php/python with ISAM /w MySQL.

  • SQL Azure and VS 2010B2 or SSMSE 2008

    - by Vulgrin
Ok, I see that people have asked this question before, but I'm seeing some conflicting statements. Can I, or can I not, connect directly to my SQL Azure database from SSMSE 2008? I see posts from before November that the SSMS 2008 RC would be able to connect directly - so I don't understand why the newest SSMSE cannot connect. Is it just a problem with the Express version of SSMS? Where can I find the "non-Express" version, if there is one? I can connect to the database via the cancel and connect method - however, you don't get object explorer that way. I see that there are add-ons for VS.Net to allow you to explore the database but I wanted to do it with the base apps if possible. Thanks

  • How far does Dependency Injection reach?

    - by Baddie
My web app solution consists of 3 projects: Web App (ASP.NET MVC) Business Logic Layer (Class Library) Database Layer (Entity Framework) I want to use Ninject to manage the lifetime of the DataContext generated by the Entity Framework in the Database Layer. The Business Logic layer consists of classes which reference repositories (located in the database layer) and my ASP.NET MVC app references the business logic layer's service classes to run code. Each repository creates an instance of the MyDataContext object from the Entity Framework Repository public class MyRepository { private MyDataContext db; public MyRepository { this.db = new MyDataContext(); } // methods } Business Logic Classes public class BizLogicClass { private MyRepository repos; public MyRepository { this.repos = new MyRepository(); } // do stuff with the repos } Will Ninject handle the lifetime of MyDataContext despite the lengthy dependency chain from the Web App to the Data Layer?

  • Oracle - Getting Select Count(*) from ... as an output parameter in System.Data.OracleClient

    - by cbeuker
Greetings all, I have a question. I am trying to build a parametrized query to get me the number of rows from a table in Oracle. Rather simple. However I am an Oracle newbie.. I know in SQL Server you can do something like: Select @outputVariable = count(*) from sometable where name = @SomeOtherVariable and then you can set up an Output parameter in the System.Data.SqlClient to get the @outputVariable. Thinking that one should be able to do this in Oracle as well, I have the following query Select count(*) into :theCount from sometable where name = :SomeValue I set up my oracle parameters (using System.Data.OracleClient - yes I know it will be deprecated in .Net 4 - but that's what I am working with for now) as follows IDbCommand command = new OracleCommand(); command.CommandText = "Select count(*) into :theCount from sometable where name = :SomeValue"); command.CommandType = CommandType.Text; OracleParameter parameterTheCount = new OracleParameter(":theCount ", OracleType.Number); parameterTheCount .Direction = ParameterDirection.Output; command.Parameters.Add(parameterTheCount ); OracleParameter parameterSomeValue = new OracleParameter(":SomeValue", OracleType.VarChar, 40); parameterSomeValue .Direction = ParameterDirection.Input; parameterSomeValue .Value = "TheValueToLookFor"; command.Parameters.Add(parameterSomeValue ); command.Connection = myconnectionObject; command.ExecuteNonQuery(); int theCount = (int)parameterTheCount.Value; At which point I was hoping the count would be in the parameter parameterTheCount that I could readily access. I keep getting the error ora-01036 which http://ora-01036.ora-code.com tells me to check my binding in the sql statement. Am I messing something up in the SQL statement? Am I missing something simple elsewhere? I could just use command.ExecuteScaler() as I am only getting one item, and am probably going to end up using that, but at this point, curiosity has got the better of me. What if I had two parameters I wanted back from my query (ie: select max(ColA), min(ColB) into :max, :min.....) Thanks..

  • symfony get data from array

    - by iggnition
Hi, I'm trying to use an SQL query to get data from my database into the template of a symfony project. my query: SQL: SELECT l.loc_id AS l__loc_id, l.naam AS l__naam, l.straat AS l__straat, l.huisnummer AS l__huisnummer, l.plaats AS l__plaats, l.postcode AS l__postcode, l.telefoon AS l__telefoon, l.opmerking AS l__opmerking, o.org_id AS o__org_id, o.naam AS o__naam FROM locatie l LEFT JOIN organisatie o ON l.org_id = o.org_id This is generated by this DQL: DQL: $this->q = Doctrine_Query::create() ->select('l.naam, o.naam, l.straat, l.huisnummer, l.plaats, l.postcode, l.telefoon, l.opmerking') ->from('Locatie l') ->leftJoin('l.Organisatie o') ->execute(); But now when i try to acces this data in the template by either doing: <?php foreach ($q as $locatie): ?> <?php echo $locatie['o.naam'] ?> or <?php foreach ($q as $locatie): ?> <?php echo $locatie['o__naam'] ?> i get the error from symfony: 500 | Internal Server Error | Doctrine_Record_UnknownPropertyException Unknown record property / related component "o__naam" on "Locatie" Does anyone know what is going wrong here? i dont know how to call the value from the array if the names in both query's dont work.

  • Why does my data not pass into my view correctly?

    - by dmanexe
I have a model, view and controller not interacting correctly, and I do not know where the error lies. First, the controller. According to the Code Igniter documentation, I'm passing variables correctly here. function view() { $html_head = array( 'title' => 'Estimate Management' ); $estimates = $this->Estimatemodel->get_estimates(); $this->load->view('html_head', $html_head); $this->load->view('estimates/view', $estimates); $this->load->view('html_foot'); } The model (short and sweet): function get_estimates() { $query = $this->db->get('estimates')->result(); return $query; } And finally the view, just to print the data for initial development purposes: <? print_r($estimates); ?> Now it's undefined when I navigate to this page. However, I know that $query is defined, because it works when I run the model code directly in the view.

  • Why does headless PDE Build omit directories I've specified in build.properties's bin.includes?

    - by Woody Zenfell III
One of my Eclipse plug-ins (OSGi bundles) is supposed to contain a directory (Database Elements) of .sql files. My build.properties shows: bin.includes = META-INF/,\ .,\ Database Elements/ (...which looks right to me.) When I build and run from within my interactive Eclipse IDE, everything works fine: calls to Bundle.getEntry(String) and Bundle.findEntries(String, String, bool) return valid URL objects; my tests are happy; my code is happy. When I build via headless ant script (using PDE Build), those same calls end up returning null. My tests break; my code breaks. I find that Database Elements is quietly but simply missing from my plug-in's JAR package. (META-INF and the built classes still make it in there fine.) I scoured the build log (even eventually invoking ant -verbose on the relevant portion of the build script) but saw no mention of anything helpful. What gives?

  • How can I stop sorl thumbnail from breaking with very long filenames?

    - by bitbutter
I've noticed that when working with SORL thumbnail, sometimes a user will upload an image with a very long filename, longer than the varfield in the database can hold. The name gets truncated in the database and the project gives errors whenever the image is requested. Is there a smart and safe way to have django automatically truncate long filenames in sorl uploads (prior to saving them in the database) to prevent this sort of thing? As reference, here's how the relevant model from my current project looks: class ArtistImage(models.Model): artist = models.ForeignKey(Artist) position = models.IntegerField() image = ThumbnailField( thumbnail_tag='<span class="artistimagewrapper"><img class="artistimage" src="%(src)s" width="%(width)s" height="%(height)s"></span>', upload_to='uploaded_images/artistimages', size=(900,900), quality=100, options={'crop': 'center'}, extra_thumbnails={ 'small':{ 'size':(92,92), 'quality':100, 'options':{'crop': 'center'}, } } ) class Meta: ordering = ('image',) def __unicode__(self): return (u"%s" % self.image)

  • PHP5 : Applying a method from an extended class on an object from the original (parent) class.

    - by Glauber Rocha
Hello, I'm trying to extend two native PHP5 classes (DOMDocument and DOMNode) to implement 2 methods (selectNodes and selectSingleNode) in order to make XPath queries easier. I thought it would be rather straighforward, but I'm stuck in a problem which I think is an OOP beginner's issue. class nDOMDocument extends DOMDocument { public function selectNodes($xpath){ $oxpath = new DOMXPath($this); return $oxpath->query($xpath); } public function selectSingleNode($xpath){ return $this->selectNodes($xpath)->item(0); } } Then I tried to do extend DOMNode to implement the same methods so I can perform an XPath query directly on a node: class nDOMNode extends DOMNode { public function selectNodes($xpath){ $oxpath = new DOMXPath($this->ownerDocument,$this); return $oxpath->query($xpath); } public function selectSingleNode($xpath){ return $this->selectNodes($xpath)->item(0); } } Now if I execute the following code (on an arbitrary XMLDocument): $xmlDoc = new nDOMDocument; $xmlDoc->loadXML(...some XML...); $node1 = $xmlDoc->selectSingleNode("//item[@id=2]"); $node2 = $node1->selectSingleNode("firstname"); The third line works and returns a DOMNode object $node1. However, the fourth line doesn't work because the selectSingleNode method belongs to the nDOMNode class, not DOMNode. So my question: is there a way at some point to "transform" the returned DOMNode object into a nDOMNode object? I feel I'm missing some essential point here and I'd greatly appreciate your help. (Sorry, this is a restatement of my question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2573820/)

  • How to track changes in many MSSQL databases from .NET application?

    - by Yauheni Sivukha
Problem: There are a lot of different databases, which is populated by many different applications directly (without any common application layer). Data can be accessed only through SP (by policy) Task: Application needs to track changes in these databases and react in minimal time. Possible solutions: 1) Create trigger for each table in each database, which will populate one table with events. Application will watch this table through SqlDependency. 2) Watch each table in each database through SqlDependency. 3) Create trigger for each table in each database, which will notify application using managed extension. Which is the best way?

  • Slow SQLite access on iPhone

    - by georgij
I have a quite slow data retrieval from a sqlite database on my iPhone and perhaps someone have an alternative idea to explain this. From what I tracked down so far sqlite3_step(statement) is sometimes unusually slow. While retrieving e.g. 50 rows from the database to execute this step takes normally some milliseconds but sometimes it takes several seconds. My database is not small (80MB) and my theory is that the reason is paging. But can someone else think of an other reason for this?

I have installed both phpPgAdmin and pgAdmin III on my Ubuntu 9.10 dev box. I created a server using pgAdmin III, and then added a database and populated it. I then navigated to phpPgAdmin, expecting to be able to see the server and be able to log on to the server using the postgres account. However, the only server shown 'PostgreSQL' (and it had a red cross icon). When I attempted to login using the postgres account, the following message was displayed: Login disallowed for security reasons. I have the following questions: Where is the server and database I created (they are still visible when I use pgAdmin III) How may I add another user to the server and give it access to a database?

  • Login to SQL Server Express via development environment (VS2010)

    - by Sanarothe
Seems like I'm missing something simple, but my attempts to connect to SQL Server Express have failed. I feel like I need to add privileges for my account but I'm not sure where to do it. Dev Env: VS 2010 (Web) SQL: Sql Server Express 2008 OS: XP Trying to open a connection to database returns: Cannot open database "|DataDirectory|DropData.mdf" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'devel.' I created the database using the interface in VS 2010 (Add new item - DB File) but my ASP.Net class only covered design-time access and not access in code, so I'm not familiar with what to do. I created a user (Devel) using SQL Server Management Studio to avoid connecting as SA, but couldn't figure out how to give any SQL-level access rights to this account. Any ideas? Thanks, Cameron
