  • Problem with implementing removeAll for List of custom object

    Hello everyone, I have a scenario in my code where I need to compare two Lists and remove from the first list, objects which are present in the second list. Akin to how the "removeAll" object works for List. Since my List is created on a custom object, the removeAll method won't work for me. I have tried various methods to make this work: - implemented equals() and hashCode for the custom object comprising the list - implemented the Comparable Interface for the custom object - implemented the Comparator Interface for the custom object I've even tried using the Apache Common's CollectionUtils and ListUtils methods (subtract, intersect, removeAll). None seem to work. I understand I will perhaps need to write some custom removal code. But not sure how to go about doing that. Any pointers helping me move in the right direction will be really appreciated. Thanks, Jay

    I have some polygon in jts topology library. if I want to draw on javafx pane I do: Polygon poly=new Polygon();//javafx //g is geometry of jts for (Coordinate coord : g.getCoordinates()) { poly.getPoints().addAll(coord.x, coord.y); } and got extra four edges that are not expected: but the same data look good in test builder: what is wrong? order of traversing the geometry? any ideas?

    I'm getting the error below when i try to execute a stored procedure in a Stateless bean with container managed persistance; com.ibm.db2.jcc.am.SqlException: DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-751, SQLSTATE=38003, SQLERRMC=STORED PROCEDURE;FXTR324;FXTR324;COMMIT, DRIVER=4.7.85 The stored proc executes without errors if i manually create the connection the database, i.e. unmanaged transaction. Is there anything i need to do for it to execute in the EJB bean?

    Currently, I have an HQL query that returns all Members who possess ANY Award from a set of specified Awards: from Member m left join m.awards as a where a.name in ("Trophy","Ribbon"); What I now need is HQL that will return all Members who possess ALL Awards specified in the set of Awards. So, assuming this data: Joe has Trophy, Medal Sue has Trophy, Ribbon Tom has Trophy, Ribbon, Medal The query above would return Joe, Sue, and Tom because all three possess at least one of Trophy or Ribbon. But I need to return only Sue and Tom, because they are the only ones who possess all of the specified awards (Trophy and Ribbon).   • Unable to use JConsole with Tomcat running as windows service

    I am running tomcat 6.0.18 as a windows service. In the service applet the jvm is configured default, i.e. it is using jvm.dll of the JRE. I am trying to monitor this application with JConsole but cannot connect to it locally. I added the parameter -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote (which works when starting tomcat with the start.bat script). But the jvm does not seem to pick up the parameter.

  • Get from Android BroadcastReciever to a UI

    I have a reciever that works well, but I can't seem to show a proper UI, although the toast appears correctly. As far as I can tell, this is caused by Android requiring the class to extend Activity, however, the class already extends BroadcastReciever, so I can't do this. So, I tried to do an Intent, but this failed too. There are no errors, but the screen doesn't show. Source code is below, and any help would be most appreciated.   • Choosing random numbers efficiently

    I have a method, which uses random samples to approximate a calculation. This method is called millions of times, so its very important that the process of choosing the random numbers is efficient. I'm not sure how fast javas Random().nextInt really are, but my program does not seem to benefit as much as I would like it too. When choosing the random numbers, I do the following (in semi pseudo-code): // Repeat this 300000 times Set set = new Set(); while(set.length != 5) set.add(randomNumber(MIN,MAX)); Now, this obviously has a bad worst-case running time, as the random-function in theory can add duplicated numbers for an eternity, thus staying in the while-loop forever. However, the numbers are chosen from {0..45}, so a duplicated value is for the most part unlikely. When I use the above method, its only 40% faster than my other method, which does not approximate, but yields the correct result. This is ran ~ 1 million times, so I was expecting this new method to be at least 50% faster. Do you have any suggestions for a faster method? Or maybe you know of a more efficient way of generation a set of random numbers.

    Suppose I have a class in my package org.jake and it has a method with default access (no modifier). Then the method is visible inside the package only. However, when someone receives the jar of my framework, what is to stop them from writing a new class, declaring its package as org.jake, and using my supposedly invisible method? In other words, is there anything I can do to prevent them from doing that?

  • Ant build.xml requires user input, but Eclipse has no tty

    I'm trying to better integrate Eclipse with my build.xml. My build file calls GNU Make for the native portion of the program, and the Makefile uses sudo to movethe compiled libs into system path. Unfortunately that requires entering a password, and Eclipse's terminal doesn't accept user input. So the result from running the build in eclipse is: [exec] sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified [exec] make: *** [install] Error 1 Any way around this problem? Can the ant build be elevated to root some other way?

    What is the performance hit of enabling sessions on the Google App Engine? I just turned on <sessions-enabled>true</sessions-enabled> in my Google App Engine app and now my requests are consistently using 100 more ms of CPU time than before I enabled it. It also makes the user wait an additional 100ms for the server to respond on each request. This seems to be quite a significant cost, I'm not even calling getSession or using it in any way yet and it still adds this extra latency. Is there something I can do to speed this up?

    Hi, I want to use JPA (eclipselink) to get data from my database. The database is changed by a number of other sources and I therefore want to go back to the database for every find I execute. I have read a number of posts on disabling the cache but this does not seem to be working. Any ideas?     I'm using a filter in web.xml to check if a user is logged in or not: <filter> <filter-name>LoginFilter</filter-name> <filter-class>com.mycompany.LoginFilter</filter-class> </filter> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>LoginFilter</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> And this works like a charm until I have a stylesheet or image I want to exclude from this filter. I know one approach is to put everything that's protected inside /privateor similar, and then set the url-pattern to: <url-pattern>/private/*</url-pattern>. The downside to this is my URLs now looking like: http://www.mycompany.com/private/mypage instead of http://www.mycompany.com/mypage. Is there another solution to this problem, that let me keep my pretty-urls?

The question is: How can I get the roles from a "role datebase" with JSR 196? Example: The server receives a request with a SSO token (CAS token for example), checks whether the token is valid, populates the remote user object with roles fetches from a database via JDBC or from REST service via http. Is the role fetching in the scope of JSR 196? How could that be implemented? Do I have to use JSR 196 together with JSR 115 to use custom authentication and a custom role source?

    I have an issue with rails Autocompletion from some code that i've inherited from an old Rails 1.2.3 project that I'm porting to Rails 2.3.5. The issue revolves around javascript execution within the auto_complete helper :after_update_element. The scenario is: A user is presented with a popup form with a number of fields. In the first field as they enter text the auto_complete AJAX call occurs, returning a result, plus a series of other HTML data wrapped in <divs> so that the after_update_element call can iterate over the other data and fill in the remaining fields. The issue lies with the extraction of the other fields which works on IE, fails on Firefox.
