  • Eclipse BIRT: Problem with number of rows in a dataset

    Hello!:-) My new Problem is the following: An sql-query to a database (DB2) returns 1500 rows but BIRT shows me only 500 in the dataset-editior. To count them i used a computed column (Integer) with the following logic: Total.count(row["VPK"]) I'm using the RCP-Designer (BIRT 2.1.3). How can i get the other rows as well? Patrick

  • WPF Beginner - A simple XAML layout not working as expected

    Hi, I've just started learning WPF, and followed a book to make this sample calculator application in XAML. The XAML code is attached below. I don't have any UI specific code in the xaml.cs file. However, I'm seeing a difference between design time and runtime. As you can see in the attached screenshot, the upper left button of the calculator is bigger than the rest. Even more confusingly, the designer when I edit the XAML shows the button correctly. I've tried to determine why is that, and I'm stumped. Can anyone help? I'm using VS2008, targeting framework 3.5, if it's any help.   • Get contact name from just the number

    Say i have an edit text and a button. In the edit text you would type a number and then when you hit the button it will either show the contact information or return with the name of that contact. I have tried all sorts of methods provided with no luck. The one i have successfully gotten the furthest with was the following... But i had no luck returning the name.     Visibility.Collapse doesnt work in my case. below is the XAML. If i try to hide the lblCountry and cmbCountry a white space is shown between zip and practice fields.     I have a variable number of two-dimensional arrays. The first dimension is variable, the second dimension is constant. i.e.: Object[][] array0 = { {"tim", "sanchez", 34, 175.5, "bla", "blub", "[email protected]"}, {"alice", "smith", 42, 160.0, "la", "bub", "[email protected]"}, ... }; Object[][] array1 = { {"john", "sdfs", 34, 15.5, "a", "bl", "[email protected]"}, {"joe", "smith", 42, 16.0, "a", "bub", "[email protected]"}, ... }; ... Object[][] arrayi = ... I'm generating these arrays with a for-loop: for (int i = 0; i < filter.length; i++) { MyClass c = new MyClass(filter[i]); //data = c.getData(); } Where "filter" is another array which is filled with information that tells "MyClass" how to fill the arrays. "getData()" gives back one of the i number of arrays. Now I just need to have everything in one big two dimensional array. i.e.: Object[][] arrayComplete = { {"tim", "sanchez", 34, 175.5, "bla", "blub", "[email protected]"}, {"alice", "smith", 42, 160.0, "la", "bub", "[email protected]"}, ... {"john", "sdfs", 34, 15.5, "a", "bl", "[email protected]"}, {"joe", "smith", 42, 16.0, "a", "bub", "[email protected]"}, ... ... }; In the end, I need a 2D array to feed my Swing TableModel. Any idea on how to accomplish this? It's blowing my mind right now.

    Greetings, I have a form with a variable number of inputs, a simplified version of which looks like this: <form> <label for="same">all the same as first?</label> <input id="same" name="same" type="checkbox" /> <input type="text" id="foo[1]" name="foo[1]" value="" /> <input type="text" id="foo[2]" name="foo[2]" value="" /> <input type="text" id="foo[3]" name="foo[3]" value="" /> <input type="text" id="foo[4]" name="foo[4]" value="" /> <input type="text" id="foo[5]" name="foo[5]" value="" /> </form> The idea is to tick the #same checkbox and have jQuery copy the value from #foo[1] into #foo[2], #foo[3], etc. They also need to clear if #same is unchecked. There can be any number of #foo inputs, based upon input from a previous stage of the form, and this bit is giving me trouble. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I can't get any variation on $('#dest').val($('#source').val()); to work. Help!

    I am tryint to tokenize entries from a file. However I am not able to use the line.split("") option because of unequal number of spaces between files. I have no trouble accessing the first and second columns, but not the last column. When I do a info=line.spilt(""), since the third column might or might no entries, I am not able to determine the token number. How do i access the 4th column? Is there a way i can use info[i].contains(" -")?

  • Large number of simultaneous long-running operations in Qt

    I have some long-running operations that number in the hundreds. At the moment they are each on their own thread. My main goal in using threads is not to speed these operations up. The more important thing in this case is that they appear to run simultaneously. I'm aware of cooperative multitasking and fibers. However, I'm trying to avoid anything that would require touching the code in the operations, e.g. peppering them with things like yieldToScheduler(). I also don't want to prescribe that these routines be stylized to be coded to emit queues of bite-sized task items...I want to treat them as black boxes. For the moment I can live with these downsides: Maximum # of threads tend to be O(1000) Cost per thread is O(1MB) To address the bad cache performance due to context-switches, I did have the idea of a timer which would juggle the priorities such that only idealThreadCount() threads were ever at Normal priority, with all the rest set to Idle. This would let me widen the timeslices, which would mean fewer context switches and still be okay for my purposes. Question #1: Is that a good idea at all? One certain downside is it won't work on Linux (docs say no QThread::setPriority() there). Question #2: Any other ideas or approaches? Is QtConcurrent thinking about this scenario? (Some related reading: how-many-threads-does-it-take-to-make-them-a-bad-choice, many-threads-or-as-few-threads-as-possible, maximum-number-of-threads-per-process-in-linux)

Don't ask me please why I did this strange thing! ;-) So, my PHP script replaces all line foldings "\n" with one of the speacial symbol like "|". When I insert text data to database, the PHP script replaces all line foldings with the symbol "|" and when the script reads text data from the database, it replaces all special symbols "|" with line folding "\n". I want to restrict text format in the way that it will cut line foldings if there are more than 2 line foldings used in each separating texts. Here is the example of the text I want the script to format: this is text... this is text... this is text...this is text...this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... this is text... The table will only store a collection of roots (records where parent is null) and their descendants. The goal is to, given an id of a node on the table, find all nodes that are descendants of it. A is a descendant of B if either A's parent is B or A's parent is a descendant of B. Note the recursive definition.     Hey Guys, This question seems ridiculously easy, but I seem to be stuck. Lets say we have a table "Books" Each Book, has a name, description, and a status. Lets say I want to create link in the show view, that when clicked, solely changes the status (to "read") for example. So far, I've tried adding a block in the controller, that says: def read @book = Book.find(params[:id]) @book.status = "Read" @book.update_attributes(params[:book]) respond_to do |format| format.html { redirect_to :back} format.xml { render :xml => @book } end end Then I've added a link to the view that is like: <%= link_to "Read", read_book_path(@book), :method = :put % This isn't working at all.   • Collision detection of huge number of circles

    What is the best way to check collision of huge number of circles? It's very easy to detect collision between two circles, but if we check every combination then it is O(n^2) which definitely not an optimal solution. We can assume that circle object has following properties: -Coordinates -Radius -Velocity -Direction Velocity is constant, but direction can change. I've come up with two solutions, but maybe there are some better solutions. Solution 1 Divide whole space into overlapping squares and check for collision only with circles that are in the same square. Squares needs to overlap so there won't be a problem when circle moves from one square to another. Solution 2 At the beginning distances between every pair of circles need to be calculated. If the distance is small then these pair is stored in some list, and we need to check for collision in every update. If the distance is big then we store after which update there can be a collision (it can be calculated because we know the distance and velocitites). It needs to be stored in some kind of priority queue. After previously calculated number of updates distance needs to be checked again and then we do the same procedure - put it on the list or again in the priority queue.

  • Reduce number of config files to as few as possible

    For most of my applications I use iBatis.Net for database access/modeling and log4Net for logging. In doing this, I need a number of *.config files for each project. For example, for a simple application I need to have the following *.config files: app.config ([AssemblyName].[Extention].config) [AssemblyName].SqlMap.config [AssemblyName].log4Net.config [AssemblyName].SqlMapProperties.config providers.config When these applications go from DEV to TEST to PRODUCTION environments, the settings contained in these files change depending on the environment. When the number of files get compounded by having 5-10 (or more) supporting executables per project, the work load on the infrastructure team (the ones doing the roll-outs to the different environments) gets rather high. We also have a high risk of one of the config files being missed, or a mistype in the config file. What is the best way to avoid these risks? Should I combine all of the config files into one file? (is that possible with iBatis?) I know that with VisualStudio 2010 they introduce transforms for these config files that allow the developer to setup all the settings for the different environments and then dynamically (depending on the build kicked off) the config files get updated to the correct versions. (VS 2010 - transforms) Thank you for any help that you can provide.
