  • Scriptable testing/debugging HTTP/HTTPS cookies and redirects

    - by Peter Boughton
    I need to setup some automated testing of HTTP requests, to check cookies are doing the right thing, with (manual) debugging when there is a problem. So far I've been muddling along with Firebug, but it's quite a bit of effort using that, and I would prefer some form of scriptable tool, both to make it easier for me and to allow an automated regression test. Any recommendations?

  • LAMP stack on home computer as a public web server

    - by Scott
    So I'm using this website: http://www.howtoforge.com/ubuntu_debian_lamp_server to setup LAMP on my Ubuntu Virtual Machine. Here is my question though, This will enable me to program and test through localhost. How can I set this up so anyone on the web can access my .php pages from any Internet capable device, and they will still interact with my local database, etc?

  • How to limit results in a SharePoint XSL query

    - by David
    Hello all, I am creating a SharePoint site that we will use to report issues with trucks used in our business. Linked to the list I have created will be a page that will display an overview of the trucks and a little truck icon will show the trucks current status. Green and the truck is okay (no open issues), Red and the truck have an open issue with status "Undrivable", Orange and there is two issues open that requires the user to look further into the truck before using it and finally a Gray truck for when there is a new issue created that has not been looked into (not sure if it is drivable or not). I have managed to create the "Dashboard" and with my limit XSL/XPATH knowledge been able to add a truck and replicate the description above but... in my test I have created 4 issues, for example if three of them are changed to status Closed and one left to Undrivable I will get four icons on the page, three with Green trucks and the last one Red. So in theory it works but I obviously only want to see the last truck, one truck. I am not interested in seeing the others. <xsl:template name="dvt_1.rowview"> <xsl:variable name="CountReport" select="count(/dsQueryResponse/Rows/Row[@Highloader='GGEU12' and @Status!='Closed'])" /> <xsl:variable name="MoreThan" select="$CountReport &gt; 1" /> <xsl:variable name="NoReports" select="$CountReport = 0" /> <xsl:variable name="Closed" select=" @Highloader='GGEU12' and @Status='Closed'" /> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="$MoreThan"> <div class="ms-vb"><img title='More than one report exist!' border='0' alt='In Progress' src='highloader/Library/hl-orange.png' /></div> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <div class="ms-vb"><xsl:value-of disable-output-escaping="yes" select="@Icon" /></div> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:template> My hope is that someone with slightly more knowledge can find the last piece of the puzzle for me! Thanks for reading and asking questions to fill any gap I left above. David

  • Testing your code before releasing to QA

    - by user279521
    I have heard developers say that people who write code should not be the ones testing it. I am looking for peoples experience in this situation. Many times I have done my share of development, then released to the QA dept and had the code sent back to me becuase some aspect of the application was broken due to my coding, regardless of how much I had tested it prior to QA release. Does anyone on this board have a process to follow, that enables them to throughly test their code before releasing to QA?

  • Color image swap javascript not working in IE7

    - by Lauren
    To test, you'd have to log in to the example page here: http://www.avaline.com /Drinkware/Sport-Water-Bottles/Monterey-DAB20 From there, the Color drop-down swaps out the right color images in IE8, FF3.6(the latest), Chrome4.1(up to date), but not in IE7. I don't get it...but I'm plugging along trying to debug it with visual studio.

  • Web bot in C++/PHP.

    - by John
    Hello, I've recently started learning PHP, but I have a wide knowledge on C++. I've been wondering how to make a web bot and now, I would greatly like to make one. I won't be using this robot for spamming or anything, just as a test of what PHP/C++ can do online. I was wondering how I could go about doing this and if you have any articles/tutorials that would be helpful. Thanks, John

  • JUnit Rule TemporaryFolder

    - by Jeff Storey
    I'm creating a TemporaryFolder using the @Rule annotation in JUnit 4.7. I've tried to create a new folder that is a child of the temp folder using tempFolder.newFolder("someFolder") in the @Before (setup) method of my test. It seems as though the temporary folder gets initialized after the setup method runs, meaning I can't use the temporary folder in the setup method. Is this correct (and predictable) behavior? thanks, Jeff

  • C# : DBConnection.Open() timeout is too long.

    - by leo
    Hi, I'm trying to connect to a server that the user inputs. When the server doesn't exist, I'd like to give a quick feedback to the end-user so he can correct what he's typed. Is there any way to test if a server exists before trying to connect ? Thanks

  • XML validation in Java - why does this fail?

    - by jd
    hi, first time dealing with xml, so please be patient. the code below is probably evil in a million ways (I'd be very happy to hear about all of them), but the main problem is of course that it doesn't work :-) public class Test { private static final String JSDL_SCHEMA_URL = "http://schemas.ggf.org/jsdl/2005/11/jsdl"; private static final String JSDL_POSIX_APPLICATION_SCHEMA_URL = "http://schemas.ggf.org/jsdl/2005/11/jsdl-posix"; public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(Test.createJSDLDescription("/bin/echo", "hello world")); } private static String createJSDLDescription(String execName, String args) { Document jsdlJobDefinitionDocument = getJSDLJobDefinitionDocument(); String xmlString = null; // create the elements Element jobDescription = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElement("JobDescription"); Element application = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElement("Application"); Element posixApplication = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElementNS(JSDL_POSIX_APPLICATION_SCHEMA_URL, "POSIXApplication"); Element executable = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElement("Executable"); executable.setTextContent(execName); Element argument = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElement("Argument"); argument.setTextContent(args); //join them into a tree posixApplication.appendChild(executable); posixApplication.appendChild(argument); application.appendChild(posixApplication); jobDescription.appendChild(application); jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.getDocumentElement().appendChild(jobDescription); DOMSource source = new DOMSource(jsdlJobDefinitionDocument); validateXML(source); try { Transformer transformer = TransformerFactory.newInstance().newTransformer(); transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.INDENT, "yes"); StreamResult result = new StreamResult(new StringWriter()); transformer.transform(source, result); xmlString = result.getWriter().toString(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return xmlString; } private static Document getJSDLJobDefinitionDocument() { DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder builder = null; try { builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } DOMImplementation domImpl = builder.getDOMImplementation(); Document theDocument = domImpl.createDocument(JSDL_SCHEMA_URL, "JobDefinition", null); return theDocument; } private static void validateXML(DOMSource source) { try { URL schemaFile = new URL(JSDL_SCHEMA_URL); Sche maFactory schemaFactory = SchemaFactory.newInstance(XMLConstants.W3C_XML_SCHEMA_NS_URI); Schema schema = schemaFactory.newSchema(schemaFile); Validator validator = schema.newValidator(); DOMResult result = new DOMResult(); validator.validate(source, result); System.out.println("is valid"); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } it spits out a somewhat odd message: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element 'JobDescription'. One of '{"http://schemas.ggf.org/jsdl/2005/11/jsdl":JobDescription}' is expected. Where am I going wrong here? Thanks a lot

  • hook_user not being called for 'login' operation

    - by Allain Lalonde
    I've read in the drupal documentation that hook_user should be invoked for the login operation. To test this I've added a call to drupal_set_message at the top of my modules hook implementation and the only message I'm receiving is a call with 'load' as the $op. I've confirmed that drupal_set_message can be called multiple times and it doesn't erase the previous message, so I'm confident that hook_user is only being invoked the one time. Any good reasons for why hook_user isn't being invoked with 'login' as an operation when I'm logging in?

  • WCF Service Library - make calls from Console App

    - by inutan
    Hello there, I have a WCF Service Library with netTcpBinding. Its app.config as follows: <configuration> <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <netTcpBinding> <binding name="netTcp" maxBufferPoolSize="50000000" maxReceivedMessageSize="50000000"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="500" maxStringContentLength="50000000" maxArrayLength="50000000" maxBytesPerRead="50000000" maxNameTableCharCount="50000000" /> <security mode="None"></security> </binding> </netTcpBinding> </bindings> <services> <service behaviorConfiguration="ReportingComponentLibrary.TemplateServiceBehavior" name="ReportingComponentLibrary.TemplateReportService"> <endpoint address="TemplateService" binding="netTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="netTcp" contract="ReportingComponentLibrary.ITemplateService"></endpoint> <endpoint address="ReportService" binding="netTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="netTcp" contract="ReportingComponentLibrary.IReportService"/> <endpoint address="mex" binding="mexHttpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" ></endpoint> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="net.tcp://localhost:8001/TemplateReportService" /> <add baseAddress ="http://localhost:8080/TemplateReportService" /> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> </services> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="ReportingComponentLibrary.TemplateServiceBehavior"> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="True"/> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="True" /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> </system.serviceModel> </configuration> I want to call it from a console application for testing purpose. I understand that I can call by adding Service Reference or by adding proxy using svcutil. But in both these cases, my service needs to be up and running (I used WCF Test Client) Is there any other way I can call and test service method from console application?

  • How to "enable" HTML5 elements in IE that were inserted by AJAX call?

    - by Gidon
    IE does not work good with unknown elements (ie. HTML5 elements), one cannot style them , or access most of their props. Their are numerous work arounds for this for example: http://remysharp.com/2009/01/07/html5-enabling-script/ The problem is that this works great for static HTML that was available on page load, but when one creates HTML5 elements afterward (for example AJAX call containing them, or simply creating with JS), it will mark these newly added elements them as HTMLUnknownElement as supposed to HTMLGenericElement (in IE debugger). Does anybody know a work around for that, so that newly added elements will be recognized/enabled by IE? Here is a test page: <html><head><title>TIME TEST</title> <!--[if IE]> <script src="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script> <![endif]--> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </head> <body> <time>some time</time> <hr> <script type="text/javascript"> $("time").text("WORKS GREAT"); $("body").append("<time>NEW ELEMENT</time>"); //simulates AJAX callback insertion $("time").text("UPDATE"); </script> </body> </html> In IE you will see the: UPDATE , and NEW ELEMENT. In any other modern browser you will see UPDATE, and UPDATE Solution Using the answer provided I came up with the following piece of javascript to HTML5 enable a whole bunch of elements returned by my ajax call: (function ($) { jQuery.fn.html5Enable = function () { if ($.browser.msie) { $("abbr, article, aside, audio, canvas, details, figcaption, figure, footer, header, hgroup, mark, menu, meter, nav, output, progress, section, summary, time, video", this).replaceWith(function () { if (this.tagName == undefined) return ""; var el = $(document.createElement(this.tagName)); for (var i = 0; i < this.attributes.length; i++) el.attr(this.attributes[i].nodeName, this.attributes[i].nodeValue); el.html(this.innerHtml); return el; }); } return this; }; })(jQuery); Now this can be called whenever you want to append something: var el = $(AJAX_RESULT_OR_HTML_STRING); el.html5Enable(); $("SOMECONTAINER").append(el); See http://code.google.com/p/html5shiv/issues/detail?id=4 for an explanation about what this plugin doesn't do.

  • Ignore order of elements using xs:extension

    - by Peter Lang
    How can I design my xsd to ignore the sequence of elements? <root> <a/> <b/> </root> <root> <b/> <a/> </root> I need to use extension for code generation reasons, so I tried the following using all: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xs:schema targetNamespace="http://www.example.com/test" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:t="http://www.example.com/test" > <xs:complexType name="BaseType"> <xs:all> <xs:element name="a" type="xs:string" /> </xs:all> </xs:complexType> <xs:complexType name="ExtendedType"> <xs:complexContent> <xs:extension base="t:BaseType"> <xs:all> <!-- ERROR --> <xs:element name="b" type="xs:string" /> </xs:all> </xs:extension> </xs:complexContent> </xs:complexType> <xs:element name="root" type="t:ExtendedType"></xs:element> </xs:schema> This xsd is not valid though, the following error is reported at <!-- ERROR -->: cos-all-limited.1.2: An all model group must appear in a particle with {min occurs} = {max occurs} = 1, and that particle must be part of a pair which constitutes the {content type} of a complex type definition. Documentation of cos-all-limited.1.2 says: 1.2 the {term} property of a particle with {max occurs}=1 which is part of a pair which constitutes the {content type} of a complex type definition. I don't really understand this (neither xsd nor English native speaker :) ). Am I doing the wrong thing, am I doing the right thing wrong, or is there no way to achieve this? Thanks!

  • Testing if URL and querystring is valid

    - by Scott
    What is the best way to test if a url & querystring is valid? For example, after a login redirect I want to make sure the target url is valid. If not, go to a default page. We seem to have a problem with the querystring, starting with "ReturnUrl=", being duplicated and that throws an exception. We'd rather have it go to a default page.
