  • What is the best way to handle validity dates in applications ?

    - by user214626
Hello, How do we model these objects ? Scenario 1: Price changes in a time period EffectiveDate ExpiryDate Price 2009-01-01 2009-01-31 800$ 2009-02-01 Null 900$ So, if the price changes to 910$ on 2009-02-15, then the system should automatically update the expiry date on the previous effective price to 2009-02-14, to keep it consistent. Scenario 2: No price specified between 2009-02-01 to 2009-02-28 EffectiveDate ExpiryDate Price 2009-01-01 2009-01-31 800$ 2009-03-01 Null 900$ So, if new price is specified for 2009-02-15 onwards , then the system should automatically set the expiry date on the record to be inserted to 2009-02-28, because already a record effective from 2009-03-01 exists. Please suggest an effective way to handle these scenarios to model my framework, or are there any frameworks around that can do this . Thanks

  • JAXB does not call setter when unmarshalling objects

    - by Yaneeve
    Hi all, I am using JAXB 2.0 JDK 6 in order to unmarshall an XML instance into POJOs. In order to add some custom validation I have inserted a validation call into the setter of a property, yet despite it being private, it seems that the unmarshaller does not call the setter but directly modifies the private field. It is crucial to me that the custom validation occurs for this specific field every unmarshall call. What should I do? Code: @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) @XmlType(name = "LegalParams", propOrder = { "value" }) public class LegalParams { private static final Logger LOG = Logger.getLogger(LegalParams.class); @XmlTransient private LegalParamsValidator legalParamValidator; public LegalParams() { try { WebApplicationContext webApplicationContext = ContextLoader.getCurrentWebApplicationContext(); LegalParamsFactory legalParamsFactory = (LegalParamsFactory) webApplicationContext.getBean("legalParamsFactory"); HttpSession httpSession = SessionHolder.getInstance().get(); legalParamValidator = legalParamsFactory.newLegalParamsValidator(httpSession); } catch (LegalParamsException lpe) { LOG.warn("Validator related error occurred while attempting to construct a new instance of LegalParams"); throw new IllegalStateException("LegalParams creation failure", lpe); } catch (Exception e) { LOG.warn("Spring related error occurred while attempting to construct a new instance of LegalParams"); throw new IllegalStateException("LegalParams creation failure", e); } } @XmlValue private String value; /** * Gets the value of the value property. * * @return * possible object is * {@link String } * */ public String getValue() { return value; } /** * Sets the value of the value property. * * @param value * allowed object is * {@link String } * @throws TestCaseValidationException * */ public void setValue(String value) throws TestCaseValidationException { legalParamValidator.assertValid(value); this.value = value; } }

  • Cannot capture TouchEvent.UP in Blackberry

    - by Nandu
    I am working on a Scrollable Image field.I am handling TouchEvent.DOWN mTouchEvent.MOVE,TouchEvent.UP. Somehow control never goes to TouchEvent.UP section.How to capture the UP event. I have to findout the start and end points of the drag. My Code looks like this.. if (event == TouchEvent.DOWN && touchEvent.isValid()) { _xTouch = touchEvent.getX(1); _yTouch = touchEvent.getY(1); } else if(event == TouchEvent.UP && touchEvent.isValid()) { int x = touchEvent.getX(1); int y = touchEvent.getY(1); } else if (event == TouchEvent.MOVE && touchEvent.isValid()) { boolean result = scrollImage((touchEvent.getX(1) - _xTouch), (touchEvent.getY(1) - _yTouch)); _xTouch = touchEvent.getX(1); _yTouch = touchEvent.getY(1); //If scrolling occurred, consume the touch event. if (result) { return true; } else { return false; } } Thanks in advance.

  • Spring validation errors not displayed

    - by Art Vandelay
I have the following situation. I have a validator to validate my command object and set the errors on a Errors object to be displayed in my form. The validator is invoked as expected and works okay, but the errors i set on the Errors objects are not displayed, when i am sent back to my form because of the validation errors. Validator: public void validate(Object obj, Errors err) { MyCommand myCommand = (MyCommand) obj; int index = 0; for (Field field : myCommand.getFields()) { if (field.isChecked()) { if ((field.getValue() == null) || (field.getValue().equals(""))) { err.rejectValue("fields[" + index + "].value", "errors.missing"); } } index++; } if (myCommand.getLimit() < 0) { err.rejectValue("limit", "errors.invalid"); } } Command: public class MyCommand { private List<Field> fields; private int limit; //getters and setters } public class Field { private boolean checked; private String name; private String value; //getters and setters } Form: <form:form id="myForm" method="POST" action="${url}" commandName="myCommand"> <c:forEach items="${myCommand.fields}" var="field" varStatus="status"> <form:checkbox path="fields[${status.index}].checked" value="${field.checked}" /> <c:out value="${field.name}" /> <form:input path="fields[${status.index}].value" /> <form:errors path="fields[${status.index}].value" cssClass="error" /></td> <form:hidden path="fields[${status.index}].name" /> </c:forEach> <fmt:message key="label.limit" /> <form:input path="limit" /> <form:errors path="limit" cssClass="error" /> </form:form> Controller: @RequestMapping(value = REQ_MAPPING, method = RequestMethod.POST) public String onSubmit(Model model, MyCommand myCommand, BindingResult result) { // validate myCommandValidator.validate(myCommand, result); if (result.hasErrors()) { model.addAttribute("myCommand", myCommand); return VIEW; } // form is okay, do stuff and redirect } Could it be that the paths i give in the validator and tag are not correct? The validator validates a command object containing a list of objects, so that's why i give a index on the list in the command object when registering an error message (for example: "fields["+index+"]".value). Or is it that the Errors object containing the errors is not available to my view? Any help is welcome and appreciated, it might give me a hint or point me in right direction.

  • android : bluetooth support

    - by Puneet kaur
i have coded for bluetooth via defining a user task ,which will search the devices in background and set the list on foreground after finishing the search . but sometimes i am getting the data in adapter as "nodevice" "device1" "device2" ...... the problem here is why it is always filling the no device in the list and after that fill the device in list .. private BroadcastReceiver mBlueToothInfoDiscoveryListener = new BroadcastReceiver() { /** * This is an overridden function called by the framework whenever there * is some broadcast message for Bluetooth info discovery listener */ @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { String action = intent.getAction(); // When discovery finds a device if (BluetoothDevice.ACTION_FOUND.equals(action)) { // Get the BluetoothDevice object from the Intent BluetoothDevice device = intent.getParcelableExtra(BluetoothDevice.EXTRA_DEVICE); // If it's already paired, skip it, because it's been listed // already if (device.getBondState() != BluetoothDevice.BOND_BONDED) { mNewBtDevicesArrayAdapter.add(device.getName() + "\n" + device.getAddress()); } // When discovery is finished, change the Activity title } else if (BluetoothAdapter.ACTION_DISCOVERY_FINISHED.equals(action)) { setProgressBarIndeterminateVisibility(false); setTitle("device list"); if (mNewBtDevicesArrayAdapter.getCount() == 0) { String noDevices = "No devices found"; mNewBtDevicesArrayAdapter.add(noDevices); } } } }; but here why it is sometimes going into else option on start and filling the list with no device then to if part again ... when devices are already on .

  • HyperJAXB and IDREFs

    - by finrod
I have eventually managed to fiddle HyperJAXB so that when XSD has complexType A and this has an IDREF to complexType B, then HyperJAXB will generate @OneToOne JPA annotations between the the two generated entities. However now I'm facing another problem: the XSD has complex type X that can IDREF to either complex type Y or complex type Z. In the end, I need instance of complex type X contain reference to either instance of class Y or class Z. Do you have any wild ideas how can this be done without manual alterations to the generated classes? And at the same time to make sure these entities are marshalled to a correct XML? How about using the JAXB plugin that allows generating classes so that they implement a particular interface? Could that lead anywhere?

  • Jasper exported to Excel ignoring background color?

    - by discgolfer
Have you ever had alternating background colors in a Jasper report and then exported it to Excel? The Excel export seems to ignore the alternating color. I've got a Jasper report where the rows alternating background color using the procedure referenced HERE. When I preview it using the viewer or export to PDF it works -- but not when I export to Excel. I've tried using JRXlsExporter and JExcelApiExporter both to no avail. I think it might be a side-effect of how you have to make alternating row colors in Jasper, which I despise to begin with, but have found no other way. Thanks in advance!

  • How to prevent "Local transaction already has 1 non-XA Resource" exception?

    - by Zeratul
Hi, I'm using 2 PU in stateless EJB and each of them is invoked on one method: @PersistenceContext(unitName="PU") private EntityManager em; @PersistenceContext(unitName="PU2") private EntityManager em2; @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW ) public void getCandidates(final Integer eventId) throws ControllerException { ElectionEvent electionEvent = em.find(ElectionEvent.class, eventId); ... Person person = getPerson(candidate.getLogin()); ... } @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW ) private Person getPerson(String login) throws ControllerException { Person person = em2.find(Person.class, login); return person; } Those methods are annotated with REQUIRES_NEW transcaction to avoid this exception. When I was calling these method from javaFX applet, all worked as expected. Now I'm trying to call them from JAX-RS webservice (I don't see any logical difference as in both cases ejb was looked up in initial context) and I keep getting this exception. When I set up XADatasource in glassfish 2.1 connection pools, I got nullpointer exception on em2. Any ideas what to try next? Regards

  • Get children count via HQL

    - by Thomas Lötzer
Hi, I have a one-to-many mapping between a parent entity and child entities. Now I need to find the number of children associated with each parent for a list of parents. I am trying to do this with HQL but I am not sure how I can get the list of parents in there. Also, I don't know how I can return the entity itself and not just its ID. My current HQL query is: select new map(parent.id as parentId, count(*) as childCount) from Parent parent left join parent.children children group by parent.id but this only returns the ID and does not filter on specific parents. EDIT Based on Pascal's answer I have modified the query to select new map(parent as parent, count(elements(parent.children)) as childCount) from Parent parent group by parent That does work, but is prohibitively slow: 30 seconds instead of 400 ms on the same database.

  • Computing unique index for every poker starting hand

    - by Aly
As there are 52 cards in a deck we know there are 52 choose 2 = 1326 distinct matchups, however in preflop poker this can be bucketed into 169 different hands such as AK offsuit and AK suited as whether it is A hearts K hearts or A spade K spades it makes no difference preflop. My question is, is there a nice mathematical property in which I can uniquely index each of these 169 hands (from 0 to 168 preferably). I am trying to create a look up table as a double[][] = new double [169][169] but have no way of changing a hand representation such as AKs (an Ace and a King of the same suit) to a unique index in this array.

  • Why do transfer objects need to implement Serializable?

    - by smaye81
I realized today that I have blindly just followed this requirement for years without ever really asking why. Today, I ran across a NotSerializableException with a model object I created from scratch and I realized enough is enough. I was told this was because of session replication between load-balanced servers, but I know I've seen other objects at session scope that do not implement Serializable. Is this the real reason?

  • Order of parts in SMTP multipart messages

    - by Chris
Hi, I'd like to know how to build an SMTP multipart message in the correct order so that it will render correctly on the iPhone mail client (rendering correctly in GMail). I'm using Javamail to build up an email containing the following parts: A body part with content type "text/html; UTF-8" An embedded image attachment. A file attachment I am sending the mail via GMail SMTP (via SSL) and the mail is sent and rendered correctly using a GMail account, however, the mail does not render correctly on the iPhone mail client. On the iPhone mail client, the image is rendered before the "Before Image" text when it should be rendered afterwards. After the "Before Image" text there is an icon with a question mark (I assume it means it couldn't find the referenced CID). I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the iPhone mail client or a bug in my mail sending code (I strongly assume the latter). I think that perhaps the headers on my parts might by incorrect or perhaps I am providing the multiparts in the wrong order. I include the text of the received mail as output by gmail (which renders the file correc Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: =?UTF-8?Q?Test_from_=E3=82=AF=E3=83=AA=E3=82=B9?= MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755" ------=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755 Content-Type: application/octet-stream Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-ID: <20100518124021763_368238_0> iVBORw0K ----- TRIMMED FOR CONCISENESS 6p1VVy4alAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== ------=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755 Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <html><head><title>Employees Favourite Foods</title> <style> body { font: normal 8pt arial; } th { font: bold 8pt arial; white-space: nowrap; } td { font: normal 8pt arial; white-space: nowrap; } </style></head><body> Before Image<br><img src="cid:20100518124021763_368238_0"> After Image<br><table border="0"> <tr> <th colspan="4">Employees Favourite Foods</th> </tr> <tr> <th align="left">Name</th><th align="left">Age</th><th align="left">Tel.No</th><th align="left">Fav.Food</th> </tr> <tr style="background-color:#e0e0e0"> <td>Chris</td><td>34</td><td>555-123-4567</td><td>Pancakes</td> </tr> </table></body></html> ------=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; name=textfile.txt Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=textfile.txt This is a textfile with numbers counting from one to ten beneath this line: one two three four five six seven eight nine ten(no trailing carriage return) ------=_Part_0_20870565.1274154021755-- Even if you can't assist me with this, I would appreciate it if any members of the forum could forward me a (non-personal) mail that includes inline images (not external hyperlinked images though). • how to settle JSF combobox with values depending on another combobox if both are set to required

    - by mykola
    Hi, everybody! Can anyone tell me how to automatically set <h:selectOneMenu (or any other component) with values depending on another <h:selectOneMenu if there empty elements with 'required' set to 'true' on the form? If to set <a4j:support event="onchange" reRender="anotherElement" immediate="true"/ then nothing is changed because changed value isn't set. But without immediate i always have message that this or that element cannot be empty. Here's code example that doesn't work :) <h:outputLabel value="* #{msg.someField}: "/> <h:panelGrid cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <h:selectOneMenu id="someSelect" value="#{MyBean.someObj.someId}" required="true" label="#{msg.someField}" > <a4j:support event="onchange" reRender="anotherSelect" limitToList="true" immediate="true"/> <f:selectItem itemValue=""/> <f:selectItems value="#{MyBean.someList}"/> </h:selectOneMenu> <rich:message for="someSelect" styleClass="redOne"/> </h:panelGrid> <h:outputLabel value="* #{msg.anotherField}: "/> <h:panelGrid cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <h:selectOneMenu id="anotherSelect" value="#{MyBean.someObj.anotherId}" required="true" label="#{msg.anotherField}" > <f:selectItem itemValue=""/> <f:selectItems value="#{MyBean.anotherList}"/> </h:selectOneMenu> <rich:message for="anotherSelect" styleClass="redOne"/> </h:panelGrid> <h:outputLabel value="* #{msg.name}: "/> <h:panelGrid cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <h:inputText id="myName" value="#{MyBean.someObj.myName}" required="true" label="#{msg.name}"/> <rich:message for="myName" styleClass="redOne"/> </h:panelGrid> So, here (i repeat), if i try to change 'someSelect' then 'anotherSelect' should update its values but it doesn't because either when it tries to get value of 'someSelect' it gets null (if immediate set to 'true') or form validation fails on empty elements. How can i skip validation but get this changed value from 'someSelect'?

  • Working with Hibernate Queries

    - by jschoen
I am new to hibernate queries, and trying to get a grasp on how everything works. I am using Hibernate 3 with Netbeans 6.5. I have a basic project set up and have been playing around with how to do everything. I started with essentially a search query. Where the user can enter values into one or more fields. The table would be Person with the columns first_name, middle_name, last_name for the sake of the example. The first way I found was to have a method that took firstName, middleName, and lastName as parameters: Session session = HibernateUtil.getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession(); Transaction tx = session.beginTransaction(); String query = "from Person where (first_name = :firstName or :firstName is null) "+ "and (middle_name = :middleName or :middleName is null) " "and (last_name = :lastname or :lastName is null)"; Query q = session.createQuery(query); q.setString("firstName", firstName); q.setString("middleName", middleName); q.setString("lastName", lastName); List<Person> results = (List<Person>) q.list(); This did not sit well with me, since it seemed like I should not have to write that much, and well, that I was doing it wrong. So I kept digging and found another way: Session session = HibernateUtil.getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession(); Transaction tx = session.beginTransaction(); Criteria crit = session.createCriteria(Person.class); if (firstName != null) { crit.add(Expression.ge("firstName", firstName); } if (middleName != null) { crit.add(Expression.ge("middleName", middleName); } if (lastName != null) { crit.add(Expression.ge("lastName", lastName); } List<Person> results = (List<Person>) crit.list(); So what I am trying to figure out is which way is the preferred way for this type of query? Criteria or Query? Why? I am guessing that Criteria is the preferred way and you should only use Query when you need to write it by hand for performance type reasons. Am I close?

  • Emulating HTTP POST via httpclient 3.x for multi options

My serverside log shows that only the first NVP was received. e.g PostMethod method = ...; NameValuePair[] nvpairs = { new NameValuePair( "groups", "2" ); new NameValuePair( "groups", "1" ); }; method.addParameter( nvpairs ); Only the groups=1 parameter was received. • Eclipse RCP setting classpath from workspace

    - by English Learner
I am working one Eclipse RCP project where I have got one situation that I wanted to set classpath at runtime. So initially, I can set the classpath from project\lib\sample.jar file in order to avoid the compilation error. But once the Eclipse RCP application started, and click one update button, a new sample.jar file would be generated at workspace. Now I wanted to update the classpath for newly generated sample.jar from workspace. Which is the best option for setting such a runtime classpath ?

  • How to remove the file suffix/extension (.jsp and .action) using the Stripes Framework?

    - by Dolph Mathews
I'm looking to use pretty / clean URL's in my web app. I would like the following URL: http://mydomain.com/myapp/calculator .. to resolve to: com.mydomain.myapp.action.CalculatorActionBean I tried overwriting the NameBasedActionResolver with: public class CustomActionResolver extends NameBasedActionResolver { public static final String DEFAULT_BINDING_SUFFIX = "."; @Override protected String getBindingSuffix() { return DEFAULT_BINDING_SUFFIX; } @Override protected List<String> getActionBeanSuffixes() { List<String> suffixes = new ArrayList<String>(super.getActionBeanSuffixes()); suffixes.add(DEFAULT_BINDING_SUFFIX); return suffixes; } } And adding this to web.xml: <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>StripesDispatcher</servlet-name> <url-pattern>*.</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> Which gets me to: http://mydomain.com/myapp/Calculator. But: A stray "." is still neither pretty nor clean. The class name is still capitalized in the URL..? That still leaves me with *.jsp..? Is it even possible to get rid of both .action and .jsp?
