  • Password value on click is not changing the text to 'Password'

    - by Sam
    window.onload=function() { var password = document.getElementById('apassword'); var real = document.getElementById('password'); var fake = document.createElement('input'); fake.setAttribute('type', 'text'); /*fake.setAttribute('id', 'password');*/ fake.setAttribute('class', 'contact-input contact-right'); password.appendChild(fake); fake.setAttribute('value', 'Password'); fake.onfocus = function() {this.style.display='none';real.style.display=''; real.focus();}; real.style.display = 'none'; real.setAttribute('value', ''); real.onblur = function() {if(this.value==''){this.style.display='none';fake.style.display=''}}; }; AND <label id="apassword"> <input type="password" title="Password" id="password" class="contact-input contact-right" name="password" /> </label> What is supposed to happen is that when you click on the input box, it changes from 'Password' to a blank type="password" input box, however it doesn't happen. This originally worked, but then I had to change some ID's and classes etc. I'm not sure how to debug scripts, so hopefully someone can help me with that, and also with my question :). Thankyou :).

  • Which event to catch for application shut down?

    - by xueru
    I am using jQueryMobile and phoneGap for a cross-device mobile application. I use html 5 local storage to persist records that worked on by user. I don't know which phoneGap event to catch just before application shut-down so I can make sure data is saved before shutdown completes. Base on suggestion from naughtur, I tried both unload and beforeunload events, neither of them got fired during app shutdown. Following is my code snip: function persistTasks(){ alert ("is unloading the app"); offlineTasklist.set("tasks", tasklist); } function init() { document.addEventListener("unload", persistTasks, false); login(); } $(document).ready(init);

  • one click, two 'click' event fired

    - by Toni Michel Caubet
    I just want to toggle some elements when a link is clicked: This is how i am trying (But i don't really think that it matters much for this question what's inside the event function callback): /* mostrar exceso de comentarios a peticion del usuario*/ $('.toggleComments').click(function(){ console.log('.toggleComments'); if($(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble:visible').length > 0){ $(this).text('+ <?=get_texto_clave('show_old_comments')?>').removeClass('toggleCommentsActive').append(' ('+$(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble:not:visible').length+'+)'); }else{ $(this).text('- <?=get_texto_clave('hide_old_comments')?>').addClass('toggleCommentsActive'); } $(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble').slideToggle(100); }); I even tried a boolean but gave me same result /* mostrar exceso de comentarios a peticion del usuario*/ var ctoggle = false; $('.toggleComments').click(function(){ if(ctoggle == false){ ctoggle = true; console.log('.toggleComments'); if($(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble:visible').length > 0){ $(this).text('+ <?=get_texto_clave('show_old_comments')?>').removeClass('toggleCommentsActive').append(' ('+$(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble:not:visible').length+'+)'); }else{ $(this).text('- <?=get_texto_clave('hide_old_comments')?>').addClass('toggleCommentsActive'); } $(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble').slideToggle(100); ctoggle = false; } }); Why the log is being fired twice by click?

  • Is it possible to get multiple forms to work with one ajax post function

    - by Scarface
    Hey guys I have a system where there is one form for each friend you have and I used to have an ajax post function for each form, but I want to save code and was wondering if it was possible to get multiple forms to work with just one post function. If anyone has any advice on how to achieve this I would appreciate it. For example <div id="message"> <form id='submit' class='message-form' method='POST' > <input type='hidden' id='to' value='friend1' maxlength='255' > Subject<br><input type='text' id='subject' maxlength='50'><br> Message<br><textarea id='message2' cols='50' rows='15'></textarea> <input type='submit' id='submitmessage' class='responsebutton' value='Send'> </form> </div> $(document).ready(function(){ $(".message-form").submit(function() { $("#submitmessage").attr({ disabled:true, value:\"Sending...\" }); var to = $('#to').attr('value'); var subject = $('#subject').attr('value'); var message = $('#message2').attr('value'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "messageprocess.php", data: 'to='+ to + '&subject=' + subject + '&message=' + message, success: function(response) { if(response == "OK") { $('.message-form').html("<div id='message'></div>"); $('#message').html("<h2>Email has been sent!</h2>") .append("<p>Please wait...</p>") .hide() .fadeIn(1500, function() { $('#message').append(\"<img id='checkmark' src='images/check.png' />\"); });

  • Cascading dropdowns

    - by SnowJim
    Hi! I am working with cascading dropdowns in MVC. It appears that I will not be able to easily create dropdowns on demand, instead I will have to add the dropdowns before sending it to the client. This is how I am doing it right now: In the aspx page <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.ModelViewAd.Category1, Model.ModelViewAd.Category1List, "-- Välj kategori --")%> <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.ModelViewAd.Category2, Model.ModelViewAd.Category2List, "-- Välj kategori --")%> <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.ModelViewAd.Category3, Model.ModelViewAd.Category3List, "-- Välj kategori --")%> <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.ModelViewAd.Category4, Model.ModelViewAd.Category4List, "-- Välj kategori --")%> This is rendered like this : <select id="ModelViewAd_Category1" name="ModelViewAd.Category1"> <option value="">-- V&#228;lj kategori --</option> <option value="10">Fordon</option> <option value="15">F&#246;r hemmet</option> <option value="17">Bostad</option> </select> <select id="ModelViewAd_Category2" name="ModelViewAd.Category2"> <option value="">-- V&#228;lj kategori --</option> </select> <select id="ModelViewAd_Category3" name="ModelViewAd.Category3"> <option value="">-- V&#228;lj kategori --</option> </select> <select id="ModelViewAd_Category4" name="ModelViewAd.Category4"> <option value="">-- V&#228;lj kategori --</option> </select> This is what the script on the page looks like: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function () { $("select#ModelViewAd_Category1").change(function () { var id = $(this).val(); var urlAction = "/AdCategory/GetCategoriesByParent1/" + id; $.getJSON(urlAction, { id: id }, function (data) { $("#ModelViewAd_Category2").addItems(data.d); }); }); $("select#ModelViewAd_Category2").change(function () { var id = $(this).val(); var urlAction = "/AdCategory/GetCategoriesByParent1/" + id; $.getJSON(urlAction, { id: id }, function (data) { $("#ModelViewAd_Category3").addItems(data.d); }); }); $("select#ModelViewAd_Category3").change(function () { var id = $(this).val(); var urlAction = "/AdCategory/GetCategoriesByParent1/" + id; $.getJSON(urlAction, { id: id }, function (data) { $("#ModelViewAd_Category4").addItems(data.d); }); }); }); </script> And then I have an included file that contains this: $.fn.clearSelect = function () { return this.each(function () { if (this.tagName == 'SELECT') this.options.length = 0; }); } $.fn.addItems = function (data) { return this.clearSelect().each(function () { if (this.tagName == 'SELECT') { var dropdownList = this; $.each(data, function (index, optionData) { var option = new Option(optionData.Text, optionData.Value); if ($.browser.msie) { dropdownList.add(option); } else { dropdownList.add(option, null); } if ($(this).children().size() < 2) { $(this).hide(); } else { $(this).show(); } }); } }); } The problem I now have is that I need to hide the dropdowns that do not contain any options or only contain one option. This should be checked when doing a call to the service as well as when the page is sent to the client ("POSTBACK"). What I need is : 4 Dropdowns Only the first dropdown is visible when first entering the page. When selecting an option from dropdown1 the dropdown2 will be populated and so on If there is only 1 option then the dropdown should be hidden If all 4 dropdowns are set and the end-user changes dropdown1, then dropdown2 should be reloaded and the rest be hidden If the user has selected some of the dropdowns (say 1, 2 and 3) and hit submit and the page is not accepted on the server side (not valid) the dropdowns should be set exactly as when the user clicked the submit button when the page returns to the user. Any suggestions on this?

  • Ordering z-indexes in an array

    - by Tom Gullen
    I have an array which looks something along the lines of resourceData[0][0] = "pic1.jpg"; resourceData[0][1] = 5; resourceData[1][0] = "pic2.jpg"; resourceData[1][1] = 2; resourceData[2][0] = "pic3.jpg"; resourceData[2][1] = 900; resourceData[3][0] = "pic4.jpg"; resourceData[3][1] = 1; The numeric represents the z-index of the image. Minimum z-index value is 1. Maximum (not really important) is 2000. I have all the rendering and setting z-indexes done fine. My question is, I want to have four functions: // Brings image to z front function bringToFront(resourceIndex) { // Set z-index to max + 1 resourceData[resourceIndex][1] = getBiggestZindex() + 1; // Change CSS property of image to bring to front $('#imgD' + resourceIndex).css("z-index", resourceData[resourceIndex][1]); } function bringUpOne(resourceIndex) { } function bringDownOne(resourceIndex) { } // Send to back z function sendToBack(resourceIndex) { } So given then index [3] (900 z): If we send it to the back, it will take the value 1, and [3] will have to go to 2, but that conflicts with [1] who has a 2 z-index so they need to go to three etc. Is there an easy programatical way of doing this because as soon as I start doing this it's going to get messy. It's important that the indexes of the array don't change. We can't sort the array unfortunately due to design. Update Thanks for answers, I'll post the functions here once they are written incase anyone comes across this in the future (note this code has zindex listed in [6]) // Send to back z function sendToBack(resourceIndex) { resourceData[resourceIndex][6] = 1; $('#imgD' + resourceIndex).css("z-index", 1); for (i = 0; i < resourceData.length; i++) { if (i != resourceIndex) { resourceData[i][6]++; $('#imgD' + i).css("z-index", resourceData[i][6]); } } }

  • I need a simple slideshow for images of different sizes

    - by Darryl Young
    I'm looking for a very basic slideshow which displays images of various sizes. For example, the first image could be a standard 800x600 but the next might be a taller portrait image and so on. The slideshow doesn't need to have any controls. The specification just states that the page will be black and in the centre there'll be the area where images will display. As far as I know, it will be very simple like this - www.jeffcutter.net. I'm limited on time here so I'm not able to look into writing a custom one or anything like that. I just need to get some images displaying like in the example. Thanks in advance, it's much appreciated. Have a great weekend! Regards.

  • Javascript: How to filter object array based on attributes?

    - by JGreig
    I have the following JavaScript JSON array of real estate home objects: var json = { 'homes' : [ { "home_id":"1", "price":"925", "sqft":"1100", "num_of_beds":"2", "num_of_baths":"2.0", }, { "home_id":"2", "price":"1425", "sqft":"1900", "num_of_beds":"4", "num_of_baths":"2.5", }, // ... (more homes) ... ]} var xmlhttp = eval('(' + json + ')'); homes = xmlhttp.homes; What I would like to do is be able to perform a filter on the object to return a subset of "home" objects. For example, I want to be able to filter based on: price, sqft, num_of_beds, and num_of_baths. Question: How can I perform something in javascript like the pseudo-code below: var newArray = homes.filter( price <= 1000 & sqft >= 500 & num_of_beds >=2 & num_of_baths >= 2.5); Note, the syntax does not have to be exactly like above. This is just an example.

Im not a very big fan of using eval unless absolutely necessary.
