  • Modular spaceship control

    - by SSS
I am developing a physics based game with spaceships. A spaceship is constructed from circles connected by joints. Some of the circles have engines attached. Engines can rotate around the center of circle and create thrust. I want to be able to move the ship in a direction or rotate around a point by setting the rotation and thrust for each of the ship's engines. How can I find the rotation and thrust needed for each engine to achieve this?

  • Inversion of control in Unity?

    - by user3206275
I am semi-experienced .NET developer who has just began working with Unity. I am trying to decide on how to make IoC work in Unity 4.X ( I have not yet tested anything), and I wonder what are the good ways of achieving it. This post and its answers states that Ninject won't work with Unity, however it is old. Is it still true? If yes, what are other means of achieving IoC in Unity ? Edit 1 : I am targeting mainly Windows platform. So I don't need platform interoperability, I just need it to work.

  • Flexible array member in C-structure

    - by Arpan
Quoting from the C-std section 6.7.2.1, struct s { int n; double d[]; }; This is a valid structure declaration. I am looking for some practical use of this kind of syntax. To be precise, how is this construct any more or less powerful than keeping a double* as the 2nd element? Or is this another case of 'you-can-do-it-in-multiple-ways'? Arpan

  • Collision free hash function for a specific data structure

    - by Max
Is it possible to create collision free hash function for a data structure with specific properties. The datastructure is int[][][] It contains no duplicates The range of integers that are contained in it is defined. Let's say it's 0..1000, the maximal integer is definitely not greater than 10000. Big problem is that this hash function should also be very fast. Is there a way to create such a hash function? Maybe at run time depending on the integer range?

  • Dashboards Made Easy - The DrillDownManager Control

The usability and value of most modern dashboards becomes seriously questioned if the data shown is fixed, and the user does not have the ability to zoom in or drill-down into the data to a more detailed view.  Implementing this functionality can sometimes be a time consuming task - a lot of plumbing code is needed to connect all the components and handle the events to interpret the drill-down actions and the parameters.  The whole purpose of the DrillDownManager is to make this task...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Frequent Functions: How to Structure?

    - by cam
How should one structure their frequently used non-important functions (conversions, etc) in C# since everything must be contained in an object? Usually I take all these functions and put them in a static Utility class. Is this a good practice? How do most developers do it?

  • How to setup complete file access and control on a network

    - by user96270
I have a media server running ubuntu 12.04 and I want it setup so that any PC on the network (windows etc) has complete access to all files, folders etc with read, write, edit, copy to, copy from permissions. No need for security (IE no password or user name, just select it on the network and start editing). I have samba installed and personal file sharing is enabled but my windows PC cannot see it on the network. I already set up another server as I described but unfortunately I can't remember how or where I found the guides for it. Any on know of a guide that covers what I want?
