  • Decipher binary format of file

    I have a binary file to which I'm trying to write however I dont have the file format specification nor have found it using google, I've been looking at the file using a hex editor but so far has only give me a headache, is there a better way to decipher the format of the file so that I can append data to it?

  • What do you use to keep notes as a developer?

    Where as a developer do like to you keep your code snippets, links, checklists, final solutions to problems etc? I've fooled with Google Notebook, MS Onenote, TreePad, textfiles, and Evernote a bit (currently leaning toward Evernote). All have pros and cons but none seem to be really suited to developers. Is anyone super-happy with a collection / note system that's not just generic GTD, but with developer-centric utility?

    I know the idea is to use a separate stylesheet for printing that hides everything other than the lightbox when the user clicks the print button on the lightbox. It sounds easy but there are always some obstacles. So I would like to know if there is any working example that supports all major browsers. I searched in google and found many lightbox but none of them has a print button built-in.

So I guess I need to use the Graph API, but Igot no clue on how to perform those HTTP POST requests needed - especially how to append the nedded attributes.

    Hi. I'm building a location aware mobile application which uses GPS, but i'd like to be able to add cell location too. The best thing I have found so far is to use Google Gears, which has a location API available, but my application is not web based. Are there any good public cell id databases that can be accessed from any kind of application? I have found a few interesting projects out there like OpenCellID, but the database is very poor right now.

    Hi, I'm trying to redirect the output of a GDI application to a buffer, preferably a d3d texture but I'll settle for a system memory buffer that I can then copy to a d3d texture. Specifically, I'm trying to get Google Chrome to render into a d3d buffer to be displayed in a d3d application. Are there any foolproof ways to do this or am I opening the mother of all worm-cans?     When debugging in PHP I frequently find it useful to simply stick a var_dump($foo, $bar, ...) in my code to show me the the what a variable is, what is value is, and the same for anything that it contains. What is a good python equivalent for this? I have seen several things in my Google searching that are somewhat equivalent, but nothing that is the same or better.

    Does anyone know of a .NET API (source-code is preferrable of course) that I can access all the common chat clients thru it (GT, Yahoo, MSN, AIM, FB, ICQ, SKYPE and more)?     A lot of people like git (in particular this guy) against other SCMs such as SVN, but many projects, even new ones, are set up using alternative SCMs. Furthermore, Google Code still does not support it (although many of their large open source projects use it). My question is: what are the reasons for not using git in any project, whether it be personal or collaborative? Maybe I've just been brainwashed by this guy, but I can't see any area in which other SCMs excel over git.
