  • How do I check to see if my subview is being touched?

    - by Amy
    I went through this tutorial about how to animate sprites: http://icodeblog.com/2009/07/24/iphone-programming-tutorial-animating-a-game-sprite/ I've been attempting to expand on the tutorial by trying to make Ryu animate only when he is touched. However, the touch is not even being registered and I believe it has something to do with it being a subview. Here is my code: -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; if([touch view] == ryuView){ NSLog(@"Touch"); } else { NSLog(@"No touch"); } } -(void) ryuAnims{ NSArray *imageArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects: [UIImage imageNamed:@"1.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"2.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"3.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"4.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"5.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"6.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"7.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"8.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"9.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"10.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"11.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"12.png"], nil]; ryuView.animationImages = imageArray; ryuView.animationDuration = 1.1; [ryuView startAnimating]; } -(void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; UIImageView *image = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame: CGRectMake(100, 125, 150, 130)]; ryuView = image; ryuView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"1.png"]; ryuView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeBottomLeft; [self.view addSubview:ryuView]; [image release]; } This code compiles fine, however, when touching or clicking on ryu, nothing happens. I've also tried if([touch view] == ryuView.image) but that gives me this error: "Comparison of distinct Objective-C type 'struct UIImage *' and 'struct UIView *' lacks a cast." What am I doing wrong?

  • SimpleJdbcCall ignoring JdbcTemplate fetch size

    - by user289429
    We are calling the pl/sql stored procedure through Spring SimpleJdbcCall, the fetchsize set on the JdbcTemplate is being ignored by SimpleJdbcCall. The rowmapper resultset fetch size is set to 10 even though we have set the jdbctemplate fetchsize to 200. Any idea why this happens and how to fix it? Have printed the fetchsize of resultset in the rowmapper in the below code snippet - Once it is 200 and other time it is 10 even though I use the same JdbcTemplate on both occassion. This direct execution through jdbctemplate returns fetchsize of 200 in the row mapper jdbcTemplate = new JdbcTemplate(ds); jdbcTemplate.setResultsMapCaseInsensitive(true); jdbcTemplate.setFetchSize(200); List temp = jdbcTemplate.query("select 1 from dual", new ParameterizedRowMapper() { public Object mapRow(ResultSet resultSet, int i) throws SQLException { System.out.println("Direct template : " + resultSet.getFetchSize()); return new String(resultSet.getString(1)); } }); This execution through SimpleJdbcCall is always returning fetchsize of 10 in the rowmapper jdbcCall = new SimpleJdbcCall(jdbcTemplate).withSchemaName(schemaName) .withCatalogName(catalogName).withProcedureName(functionName); jdbcCall.returningResultSet((String) outItValues.next(), new ParameterizedRowMapper<Map<String, Object>>() { public Map<String, Object> mapRow(ResultSet rs, int row) throws SQLException { System.out.println("Through simplejdbccall " + rs.getFetchSize()); return extractRS(rs, row); } }); outputList = (List<Map<String, Object>>) jdbcCall.executeObject(List.class, inParam);

  • Why does this class declaration not work on Visual Studio

    - by Roel
    So I'm trying to get some code that is written for gcc to compile on Visual Studio 2008. I have a problem that I have narrowed down to this: class value_t { public: typedef std::deque<value_t> sequence_t; typedef sequence_t::iterator iterator; }; This code fails: 1>cpptest.cpp 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 9.0\vc\include\deque(518) : error C2027: use of undefined type 'value_t' 1> c:\temp\cpptest\cpptest.cpp(10) : see declaration of 'value_t' 1> c:\temp\cpptest\cpptest.cpp(13) : see reference to class template instantiation 'std::deque<_Ty>' being compiled 1> with 1> [ 1> _Ty=value_t 1> ] 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 9.0\vc\include\deque(518) : error C2027: use of undefined type 'value_t' 1> c:\temp\cpptest\cpptest.cpp(10) : see declaration of 'value_t' However when I try this with std::vector, it compiles fine: class value_t { public: typedef std::vector<value_t> sequence_t; typedef sequence_t::iterator iterator; }; What's wrong? I have tried adding 'typename' everywhere I can think of, but at this point in time I'm thinking it's just a bug in the Dinkumware STL. Can anyone explain what's happening, and/or offer a solution? Thanks.

  • Strange - Clicking Update button doesn’t cause a postback due to <!-- tag

    - by AspOnMyNet
    If I define the following template inside DetailsView, then upon clicking an Update or Insert button, the page is posted back to the server: <EditItemTemplate> <asp:TextBox ID="txtDate" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Date") %>'></asp:TextBox> <asp:CompareValidator ID="valDateType" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtDate" Type="Date" Operator="DataTypeCheck" Display="Dynamic" >*</asp:CompareValidator> </EditItemTemplate> If I remove CompareValidator control from the above code by simply deleting it, then page still gets posted back.But if instead I remove CompareValidator control by enclosing it within <!-- --> tags, then for some reason clicking an Update or Insert button doesn’t cause a postback...instead nothing happens: <EditItemTemplate> <asp:TextBox ID="txtDate" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Date") %>'></asp:TextBox> <!-- <asp:CompareValidator ID="valDateType" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtDate" Type="Date" Operator="DataTypeCheck" Display="Dynamic" >*</asp:CompareValidator> --> </EditItemTemplate> </EditItemTemplate> Any idea why page doesn't get posted back? thanx

  • NPTL Default Stack Size Problem

    - by eyazici
    Hello, I am developing a multithread modular application using C programming language and NPTL 2.6. For each plugin, a POSIX thread is created. The problem is each thread has its own stack area, since default stack size depends on user's choice, this may results in huge memory consumption in some cases. To prevent unnecessary memory usage I used something similar to this to change stack size before creating each thread: pthread_attr_t attr; pthread_attr_init (&attr); pthread_attr_getstacksize(&attr, &st1); if(pthread_attr_setstacksize (&attr, MODULE_THREAD_SIZE) != 0) perror("Stack ERR"); pthread_attr_getstacksize(&attr, &st2); printf("OLD:%d, NEW:%d - MIN: %d\n", st1, st2, PTHREAD_STACK_MIN); pthread_attr_setdetachstate(&attr, PTHREAD_CREATE_DETACHED); /* "this" is static data structure that stores plugin related data */ pthread_create(&this->runner, &attr, (void *)(void *)this->run, NULL); EDIT I: pthread_create() section added. This did not work work as I expected, the stack size reported by pthread_attr_getstacksize() is changed but total memory usage of the application (from ps/top/pmap output) did not changed: OLD:10485760, NEW:65536 - MIN: 16384 When I use ulimit -s MY_STACK_SIZE_LIMIT before starting application I achieve the expected result. My questions are: 1-) Is there any portable(between UNIX variants) way to change (default)thread stack size after starting application(before creating thread of course)? 2-) Is it possible to use same stack area for every thread? 3-) Is it possible completely disable stack for threads without much pain?

  • Mercurial Remote Subrepos

    - by Travis G
    I'm trying to set up my Mercurial repository system to work with multiple subrepos. I've basically followed these instructions to set up the client repo with Mercurial client v1.5 and I'm using HgWebDir to host my multiple projects. I have an HgWebDir with the following structure: http://myserver/hg fooproj mylib where mylib is some collection of common template library to be consumed by fooproj. The structure of fooproj looks like this: fooproj doc/ src/ .hgignore .hgsub .hgsubstate And .hgsub looks like: src/mylib = http://myserver/hg/mylib This should work, per my interpretation of the documentation: The first 'nested' is the path in our working dir, and the second is a URL or path to pull from. So, let's say I pull down fooproj to my home folder with: ~$ hg clone http://myserver/hg/fooproj foo Which pulls down the directory structure properly and adds the folder ~/foo/src/mylib which is a local Mercurial repository. This is where the problems begin: the mylib folder is empty aside from the items in .hg. With 2 seconds of investigation, one can see the src/mylib/.hg/hgrc is: [paths] default = http://myserver/hg/fooproj/src/mylib which is completely wrong (attempting a pull of that repo will give a 404 because, well, that URL doesn't make any sense). Logically, the default value should be what I specified in .hgsub or it would get the files from the repository in some way. None of the Mercurial commands return error codes (aside from a pull from within src/mylib), so it clearly believes that it is behaving properly (and just might be), although this does not seem logical at all. What am I doing wrong?

  • How bad is code using std::basic_string<t> as a contiguous buffer?

    - by BillyONeal
    I know technically the std::basic_string template is not required to have contiguous memory. However, I'm curious how many implementations exist for modern compilers that actually take advantage of this freedom. For example, if one wants code like the following it seems silly to allocate a vector just to turn around instantly and return it as a string: DWORD valueLength = 0; DWORD type; LONG errorCheck = RegQueryValueExW( hWin32, value.c_str(), NULL, &type, NULL, &valueLength); if (errorCheck != ERROR_SUCCESS) WindowsApiException::Throw(errorCheck); else if (valueLength == 0) return std::wstring(); std::wstring buffer; do { buffer.resize(valueLength/sizeof(wchar_t)); errorCheck = RegQueryValueExW( hWin32, value.c_str(), NULL, &type, &buffer[0], &valueLength); } while (errorCheck == ERROR_MORE_DATA); if (errorCheck != ERROR_SUCCESS) WindowsApiException::Throw(errorCheck); return buffer; I know code like this might slightly reduce portability because it implies that std::wstring is contiguous -- but I'm wondering just how unportable that makes this code. Put another way, how may compilers actually take advantage of the freedom having noncontiguous memory allows? Oh: And of course given what the code's doing this only matters for Windows compilers.

  • WPF: ListView inside LIstViewItem: How to support button_click

    - by Bartek
    Hi I have problem with using buttons that are placed in the itemtemplate of the listview which is placed in the itemtemplate of the outer listview. I'll try to simplify the code to show only the idea. I have a objects collection which looks like this: Main object contains a list of innerObjects. Every innerObject contains a list of objects that contain some strings. mainObject listItem innerListItem string string innerListItem string string listItem innerListItem string string I set a mainObject as a itemsSource to the ListView. This listView has a ItemTemplate. This ItemTemplate contains some buttons and inner ListView. Inner ListView also has the item template that contains a button (deleteButton). Pressing this deleteButton I want to delete items (innerListItem) for which this button was created. I can use such functionality when I have a sigle listView. private void clearAndList_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { DependencyObject dep = (DependencyObject)e.OriginalSource; while ((dep != null) && !(dep is System.Windows.Controls.ListViewItem)) { dep = VisualTreeHelper.GetParent(dep); } if (dep == null) { return; } ANDconditionsList andList = (ANDconditionsList)ConditionsList.ItemContainerGenerator.ItemFromContainer(dep); orConditionsList.RemoveConditionsSet(andList); } I can't use the same functionality because I can only use the name of the ConditionsList which is the mail listview. The idea is to find the innerlistview and use it instead of ConditionsList, however I don't know if it will work. If anyone have some samples concerning using listview in listview or how to operate the button in a different way please help me

  • Problem with messages framework in Django 1.2

    - by Konstantin
    Hello! I'm running Django 1.2 beta and trying out the new feature: message framework. http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/messages/ Everything seems to work, but when I try to output the messages, I get nothing. Seems that messages variable is empty. I double checked all the settings, they seem to be just like in the manual. What could be wrong? settings.py MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES = ( 'django.middleware.common.CommonMiddleware', 'django.contrib.sessions.middleware.SessionMiddleware', 'django.contrib.messages.middleware.MessageMiddleware', #send messages to users 'django.middleware.locale.LocaleMiddleware', 'django.contrib.auth.middleware.AuthenticationMiddleware', #debug tool 'debug_toolbar.middleware.DebugToolbarMiddleware', ) TEMPLATE_CONTEXT_PROCESSORS = ( 'django.contrib.messages.context_processors.messages', #send messages to users 'django.core.context_processors.auth', ) #Store messages in sessions MESSAGE_STORAGE = 'django.contrib.messages.storage.session.SessionStorage'; INSTALLED_APPS = ( 'django.contrib.auth', 'django.contrib.contenttypes', 'django.contrib.sessions', #'django.contrib.sites', 'django.contrib.admin', 'django.contrib.messages', 'debug_toolbar', #my apps #... ) views.py def myview(request): from django.contrib import messages messages.error(request, 'error test'); messages.success(request, 'success test'); return render_to_response('mytemplate.html', locals()); mytemplate.html {% for message in messages %} {{ message }}<br /> {% endfor %} In template nothing is outputted.

  • Problem sorting RSS feed by date using XSL

    - by Buckers
    I'm creating a website where I need to show the top 5 records from an RSS feed, and these need to be sorted by date and time. The date fields in the RSS feed are in the following format: "Mon, 16 Feb 2009 16:02:44 GMT" I'm having big problems getting the records to sort correctly - I've tried lots of different code examples I've seen, but none seem to sort the records correctly. The code for my XSL sheet is shown below, and the feed in question is here. Very grateful for anyones help!!! Thanks, Chris. XSL CODE: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.1" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:digg="http://digg.com//docs/diggrss/" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:for-each select="//*[local-name()='item'][position() < 6]"> <p> <a> <xsl:attribute name="href"> <xsl:value-of select="*[local-name()='link']"/></xsl:attribute> <xsl:attribute name="target"> <xsl:text>top</xsl:text> </xsl:attribute> <xsl:value-of select="*[local-name()='title']"/> </a> <br/> <span class="smaller"><xsl:value-of select="*[local-name()='pubDate']" disable-output-escaping="yes"/></span> </p> </xsl:for-each>

  • Highlighting a Table Correctly Despite rowspan and colspan attributes - WITHOUT jQuery

    - by ScottSEA
    Thanks to some !#$#@ in another department who wrote some crap code, I am unable to use the jQuery library - despite my fervent desire to do so. Their software has already been released into the world, and I have to be compatible. ============================================ I am trying to highlight a table. Desired behavior: Clicking on a cell in the body highlights the row. Clicking on a cell in the head highlights the column. If a column and row are both highlighted, the intersection is highlighted a different color (super-highlight). Clicking on a previously super-highlighted cell turns off the highlights. This behavior is simple enough to do with a basic table, but when rowspans and colspans start rearing their ugly heads, things start to get a little wonky... highlighting cell[5], for instance, no longer works reliably. My thought, in order to speed execution time of the highlighting itself (by changing a class name), is to pre-calculate the 'offsets' of all cells - with a 'colStart' and 'colEnd', 'rowStart' and 'rowEnd' when the page loads and store that in an array somehow. The question: How would YOU implement this functionality? I am fairly rusty at my JavaScript, awfully rudimentary in my programming skills and would benefit greatly from some guidance. Thanks, Scott.

  • ThreadAbortException (WebClient using DownloadFile to grab file from server)

    - by baron
    Hi Everyone, Referencing my Earlier Question, regarding downloading a file from a server and handling exceptions properly. I am positive that I had this solved, then in classic programming fashion, returned days later to frustratingly find it broken :-( Updated code: private static void GoGetIt(HttpContext context) { var directoryInfoOfWhereTheDirectoryFullOfFilesShouldBe = new FileInfo(......); var name = SomeBasicLogicToDecideName(); //if (!directoryInfoOfWhereTheDirectoryFullOfFilesShouldBe.RefreshExists()) //{ // throw new Exception(string.Format("Could not find {0}.", name)); //} var tempDirectory = ""; //Omitted - creates temporary directory try { directoryInfoOfWhereTheDirectoryFullOfFilesShouldBe.CopyAll(tempDirectory); var response = context.Response; response.ContentType = "binary/octet-stream"; response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", string.Format("attachment;filename={0}.zip", name)); ZipHelper.ZipDirectoryToStream(tempDirectory, response.OutputStream); response.End(); } catch (Exception ex) { Debug.WriteLine(ex.ToString()); context.Response.StatusCode = 404; } finally { tempDirectory.DeleteWithPrejudice(); } } This was working fine, and returning the zip, otherwise if the file didn't exist returning 404. Then on the client side I could handle this: public bool Download() { try { using (var client = new WebClient()) { client.DownloadFile(name, tempFilePath); } } catch (Exception) { fileExists = false; } return fileExists; } But the problem now is two things. 1) I get System.Threading.ThreadAbortException: Thread was being aborted in the server side try-catch block. Usually this was just a file not found exception. I have no idea what or why that new exception is throwing? 2) Now that a different exception is throwing on the server side instead of the file not found, it would seem I can't use this set up for the application, because back on client side, any exception is assumed to be filenotfound. Any help, especially info on why this ThreadAbortException is throwing!?!? greatly appreciated. Cheers

  • Trouble move-capturing std::unique_ptr in a lambda using std::bind

    - by user2478832
    I'd like to capture a variable of type std::vector<std::unique_ptr<MyClass>> in a lambda expression (in other words, "capture by move"). I found a solution which uses std::bind to capture unique_ptr (http://stackoverflow.com/a/12744730/2478832) and decided to use it as a starting point. However, the most simplified version of the proposed code I could get doesn't compile (lots of template mistakes, it seems to try to call unique_ptr's copy constructor). #include <functional> #include <memory> std::function<void ()> a(std::unique_ptr<int>&& param) { return std::bind( [] (int* p) {}, std::move(param)); } int main() { a(std::unique_ptr<int>(new int())); } Can anybody point out what is wrong with this code? EDIT: tried changing the lambda to take a reference to unique_ptr, it still doesn't compile. #include <functional> #include <memory> std::function<void ()> a(std::unique_ptr<int>&& param) { return std::bind( [] (std::unique_ptr<int>& p) {}, // also as a const reference std::move(param)); } int main() { a(std::unique_ptr<int>(new int())); }

  • An alternative to reading input from Java's System.in

    - by dvanaria
    I’m working on the UVa Online Judge problem set archive as a way to practice Java, and as a way to practice data structures and algorithms in general. They give an example input file to submit to the online judge to use as a starting point (it’s the solution to problem 100). Input from the standard input stream (java.lang.System.in) is required as part of any solution on this site, but I can’t understand the implementation of reading from System.in they give in their example solution. It’s true that the input file could consist of any variation of integers, strings, etc, but every solution program requires reading basic lines of text input from System.in, one line at a time. There has to be a better (simpler and more robust) method of gathering data from the standard input stream in Java than this: public static String readLn(int maxLg) { byte lin[] = new byte[maxLg]; int lg = 0, car = -1; String line = “”; try { while (lg < maxLg) { car = System.in.read(); if ((car < 0) || (car == ‘\n’)) { break; } lin[lg++] += car; } } catch (java.io.IOException e) { return (null); } if ((car < 0) && (lg == 0)) { return (null); // eof } return (new String(lin, 0, lg)); } I’m really surprised by this. It looks like something pulled directly from K&R’s “C Programming Language” (a great book regardless), minus the access level modifer and exception handling, etc. Even though I understand the implementation, it just seems like it was written by a C programmer and bypasses most of Java’s object oriented nature. Isn’t there a better way to do this, using the StringTokenizer class or maybe using the split method of String or the java.util.regex package instead?

  • Calling AddEventListener in a loop with a variable element name

    - by user302209
    Hi, I'm trying to do the following: I have a set of images and select (dropdown) HTML elements, 30 of each one. I'm trying to use AddEventListener on a loop from 1 to 30 so that when I change the value of the select, the image src is updated (and the image changes). The AddEventListener function is this one: function AddEventListener(element, eventType, handler, capture) { if (element.addEventListener) element.addEventListener(eventType, handler, capture); else if (element.attachEvent) element.attachEvent("on" + eventType, handler); } I tried this and it worked: var urlfolderanimalimages = "http://localhost/animalimages/"; var testselect = "sel15"; var testimg = "i15"; AddEventListener(document.getElementById(testselect), "change", function(e) { document.getElementById(testimg).src = urlfolderanimalimages + document.getElementById(testselect).value; document.getElementById(testimg).style.display = 'inline'; if (e.preventDefault) e.preventDefault(); else e.returnResult = false; if (e.stopPropagation) e.stopPropagation(); else e.cancelBubble = true; }, false); But then I tried to call it in a loop and it doesn't work. The event is added, but when I change any select, it will update the last one (the image with id i30). var urlfolderanimalimages = "http://localhost/animalimages/"; for (k=1;k<=30;k++) { var idselect = "sel" + k; var idimage = "i" + k; AddEventListener(document.getElementById(idselect), "change", function(e) { document.getElementById(idimage).src = urlfolderanimalimages + document.getElementById(idselect).value; document.getElementById(idimage).style.display = 'inline'; if (e.preventDefault) e.preventDefault(); else e.returnResult = false; if (e.stopPropagation) e.stopPropagation(); else e.cancelBubble = true; }, false); } What am I doing wrong? I'm new to JavaScript (and programming in general), so sorry for the vomit-inducing code :(

  • JAVA Regular Expression Errors

    - by Berkay
    I'm working on a simply password strength checker and i can not success applying regular expressions. In different resources different kinds of regular expressions are defined. i also find javascript regular expressions but had some problems to adapt. First, these are the regular expressions i need for JAVA: at least one lower case letter at least one upper case letter at least one number at least three numbers at least one special character at least two special characters both letters and numbers both upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters My goal is not being a regular expression expert i just want to use the parts i need.If you direct me good tutorials which discusses above for java, will be appreciated. Second, in this link some of them are mentioned but i'm getting problems to apply them. here does not catch the lower case letter (my pass: A5677a) if (passwd.matches("(?=.*[a-z])")) // [verified] at least one lower case letter {Score = Score+5;} Also here i'm getting error : illegal escape character. if (passwd.matches("(?=.*\d)")) // [verified] at least one number Finally, are these expressions all different in different kind of programming or script languages?

  • doublechecking: no db-wide 'unicode switch' for sql server in the foreseeable future, i.e. like Orac

    - by user72150
    Hi all, I believe I know the answer to this question, but wanted to confirm: Question Does Sql server (or will it in the foreseeable future), offer a database-wide "unicode switch" which says "store all characters in unicode (UTF-16, UCS-2, etc)", i.e. like Oracle. The Context Our application has provided "CJK" (Chinese-Japanese-Korean) support for years--using Oracle as the db store. Recently folks have been asking for the same support in sql server. We store our db schema definition in xml and generate the vendor-specific definitions (oracle, sql server) using vendor-specific xsl. We can make the change easily. The problem is for upgrades. Generated scripts would need to change the column types for 100+ columns from varchar to nvarchar, varchar(max) to nvarchar(max), etc. These changes require dropping and recreating indexes and foreign keys if the any indexes/fk's exist on the column. Non-trivial. Risky. DB-wide character encodings for us would eliminate programming changes. (I.e. we would not to change the column types from varchar to nvarchar; sql server would correctly store unicode data in varchar columns). I had thought that eventually sql server would "see the light" and allow storing unicode in varchar/clob columns. Evidently not yet. Recap So just to triple check: does mssql offer a database-wide switch for character encoding? Will it in SQL2008R3? or 2010? thanks, bill

  • DirectX Desktop

    - by Jonathan
    Hi. I'd like to make an animated desktop background for Windows 7 using DirectX. I'm using C#, SlimDX and a couple of P/Invoke imports of Windows API functions. I'm not brilliant with native Windows programming, but I've had a poke around online and I believe what I need to do is either: 1) Find the handle of the window containing the dekstop wallpaper, hook it up to a DirectX device and draw into it. 2) Make a new output window, and insert it above the desktop wallpaper but below the desktop icons. I've tried both these, but neither seems to work. If I navigate the Window heirarchy starting from the handle returned by GetDesktopWindow(), I can go Desktop - WorkerW - SHELLDLL_DefView - SysListView32. If I hook up a DirectX device to this handle, I can draw over the entire desktop, but it also covers the icons. If I create a Windows form, set its parent to SHELLDLL_DefView using SetParent() and then use SetWindowPos to play with its Z-order I can only seem to get it to go either behind the desktop wallpaper or in front of the desktop + icons. It looks as though the desktop wallpaper is background to the folder view containing the icons, and therefore what I am trying to do cannot work. The only solution then would be to not use the desktop for icons, or to find some alternative, e.g. overwriting the desktop then overlaying a transparent window containing a view of the contents of some folder. Does anyone have any idea of what I should be doing, or even whether what I want to do is possible? It seems you can draw to the desktop background using the GDI (as I believe the wxSnow program does), and I've seen something similar to what I want done by VLC Media Player under Windows XP with its DirectX wallpaper mode (interestingly, I can't seem to get this option enabled on my system). Thanks!

  • How to determine if a ResourceDictionary is loaded correctly

    - by akaphenom
    How can I tell (through the debugger if my app resources are being loaded correctly). I have tried (in f#) type MyApp() as this = inherit Application() do Application.LoadComponent(this, new System.Uri("/FSSilverlightApp;component/App.xaml", System.UriKind.Relative)) let cc = new ContentControl() let mainGrid : Grid = loadXaml("MainWindow.xaml") let siteTemplate : Grid = mainGrid let txt : TextBlock = siteTemplate ? txt do this.Startup.Add(this.startup) let mutable s = "Items: " s <- s + this.Resources.Count.ToString() it is returning a count of zero. Though I am pretty sure the application is loading the resource because if I change the path within the App.xaml - I get exceptions at runtime. Other re,lavent snippets are: I have the following app.xaml <Application xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="Module1.MyApp"> <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/FSSilverlightApp;component/TransitioningFrame.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> </Application> and content template: < ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:navigation="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Navigation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <ControlTemplate x:Key="TransitioningFrame" TargetType="navigation:Frame"> <Border Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"> <ContentPresenter Cursor="{TemplateBinding Cursor}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}"/> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </ResourceDictionary>

  • Java and tomcat vs ASP.NET and IIS

    - by Mark Cooper
    Until recently I'd considered myself to be a pretty good web programmer (coming up for 10yrs commercial experience on a variety of e-commerce, static and enterprise applications). I'm self taught and have always used the Microsoft product stack (ASP, ASP.NET)... My applications are always functional, relatively bug free, but have never been lightening quick. As a frequent web user I always found this to be the norm... how fast are the websites from the big tech players (eBay, Facebook, Microsoft, IBM, Dell, Telerik etc etc) - in truth none are particularly fast. I always attributed this to "the way things are with web apps"... ...then I cam across a product called Jira from atlasian and this has stopped me in my tracks... This application is fast, and I mean blindingly fast.. too fast to time the switches between pages, fully live content, lots of images and data and cross references etc etc... I run this on an intranet, with a large application DB, and this is running on a very normal server (single processor, SATA HDD, 8GB RAM). Am I missing something?? Are my programming techniques that bad?? I am wondering if this speed gain is down to it being written in Java and running on Tomcat. Does anyone have any benchmarks to compare JSP / ASP or Tomcat / IIS??? Thanks, Mark NOTE: this isn't a blatant plug for Jira. I don't work for them or have any affiliation to them... but I would like to be able to write applications like them :)

  • Beginner video capture and processing/Camera selection

    - by mattbauch
    I'll soon be undertaking a research project in real-time event recognition but have no experience with the programming aspect of video capture (I'm an upperclassman undergraduate in computer engineering). I want to start off on the right foot so advice from anyone with experience would be great. The ultimate goal is to track events such as a person standing up/sitting down, entering/leaving a room, possibly even shrugging/slumping in posture, etc. from a security camera-like vantage point. First of all, which cameras/companies would you recommend? I'm looking to spend ~$100, more if necessary but not much. Great resolution isn't a must, but is desirable if affordable. What about IP network cameras vs. a USB type webcam? Webcams are less expensive, but IP cameras seem like they'd be much less work to deal with in software. What features should I look for in the camera? Once I've selected a camera, what does converting its output to a series of RGB bitmaps entail? I've never dealt with video encoding/decoding so a starting point or a tutorial that will guide me up to this point would be great if anyone has suggestions. Finally, what is the best (least complicated/most efficient) way to display video from the camera plus my own superimposed images (boxes around events in progress, for instance) in a GUI application? I can work on any operating system in any language. I have some experience with win32 GUIs and Java GUIs. The focus of the project is on the algorithm and so I'm trying to get the video capture/display portion of the app done cleanly and quickly. Thanks for any responses!!

  • Make Python Socket Server More Efficient

    - by BenMills
    I have very little experience working with sockets and multithreaded programming so to learn more I decided to see if I could hack together a little python socket server to power a chat room. I ended up getting it working pretty well but then I noticed my server's CPU usage spiked up over 100% when I had it running in the background. Here is my code in full: http://gist.github.com/332132 I know this is a pretty open ended question so besides just helping with my code are there any good articles I could read that could help me learn more about this? My full code: import select import socket import sys import threading from daemon import Daemon class Server: def __init__(self): self.host = '' self.port = 9998 self.backlog = 5 self.size = 1024 self.server = None self.threads = [] self.send_count = 0 def open_socket(self): try: self.server = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET6, socket.SOCK_STREAM) self.server.setsockopt(socket.SOL_SOCKET, socket.SO_REUSEADDR, 1) self.server.bind((self.host,self.port)) self.server.listen(5) print "Server Started..." except socket.error, (value,message): if self.server: self.server.close() print "Could not open socket: " + message sys.exit(1) def remove_thread(self, t): t.join() def send_to_children(self, msg): self.send_count = 0 for t in self.threads: t.send_msg(msg) print 'Sent to '+str(self.send_count)+" of "+str(len(self.threads)) def run(self): self.open_socket() input = [self.server,sys.stdin] running = 1 while running: inputready,outputready,exceptready = select.select(input,[],[]) for s in inputready: if s == self.server: # handle the server socket c = Client(self.server.accept(), self) c.start() self.threads.append(c) print "Num of clients: "+str(len(self.threads)) self.server.close() for c in self.threads: c.join() class Client(threading.Thread): def __init__(self,(client,address), server): threading.Thread.__init__(self) self.client = client self.address = address self.size = 1024 self.server = server self.running = True def send_msg(self, msg): if self.running: self.client.send(msg) self.server.send_count += 1 def run(self): while self.running: data = self.client.recv(self.size) if data: print data self.server.send_to_children(data) else: self.running = False self.server.threads.remove(self) self.client.close() """ Run Server """ class DaemonServer(Daemon): def run(self): s = Server() s.run() if __name__ == "__main__": d = DaemonServer('/var/servers/fserver.pid') if len(sys.argv) == 2: if 'start' == sys.argv[1]: d.start() elif 'stop' == sys.argv[1]: d.stop() elif 'restart' == sys.argv[1]: d.restart() else: print "Unknown command" sys.exit(2) sys.exit(0) else: print "usage: %s start|stop|restart" % sys.argv[0] sys.exit(2)

  • Django Class Views and Reverse Urls

    - by kalhartt
    I have a good many class based views that use reverse(name, args) to find urls and pass this to templates. However, the problem is class based views must be instantiated before urlpatterns can be defined. This means the class is instantiated while urlpatterns is empty leading to reverse throwing errors. I've been working around this by passing lambda: reverse(name, args) to my templates but surely there is a better solution. As a simple example the following fails with exception: ImproperlyConfigured at xxxx The included urlconf mysite.urls doesn't have any patterns in it mysite.urls from mysite.views import MyClassView urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^$' MyClassView.as_view(), name='home') ) views.py class MyClassView(View): def get(self, request): home_url = reverse('home') return render_to_response('home.html', {'home_url':home_url}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) home.html <p><a href={{ home_url }}>Home</a></p> I'm currently working around the problem by forcing reverse to run on template rendering by changing views.py to class MyClassView(View): def get(self, request): home_url = lambda: reverse('home') return render_to_response('home.html', {'home_url':home_url}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) and it works, but this is really ugly and surely there is a better way. So is there a way to use reverse in class based views but avoid the cyclic dependency of urlpatterns requiring view requiring reverse requiring urlpatterns...
