  • How to set width of textbox to be same as MaxLength in ASP.NET

    - by John Galt
Is there a way I can limit the width of a textbox to be equal to the MaxLength property? In my case right now, the textbox control is placed in a table cell as in this snippet: <td class=TDSmallerBold style="width:90%"> <asp:textbox id="txtTitle" runat="server" CausesValidation="true" Text="Type a title here..be concise but descriptive. Include price." ToolTip="Describe the item with a short pithy title (most important keywords first). Include the price. The title you provide here will be the primary text found by search engines that index Zipeee content." MaxLength="60" Width="100%"> </asp:textbox> (I know I should not use HTML tables to control layout..another subject for sure) but is there a way to constrain the actual width to the max number of characters allowed in the typed box?

  • PHP Dynamic Breadcrumb, small modification

    - by Adrian M.
Hello, I got this code from someone and it works very well, I just want to remove the link from the last element of the array: //get rid of empty parts $crumbs = array_filter($crumbs); $result = array(); $path = ''; foreach($crumbs as $crumb){ $path .= '/' . $crumb; $name = ucfirst(str_replace(array(".php","_"),array(""," "), $crumb)); $result[] = "<a href=\"$path\">$name</a>"; } print implode(' > ', $result); This will output for example: Content Common File I just want a to remove the link from the last item - "File" to be just plain text.. I tried myself to count the array items and then if the array item is the last one then to print as plain text the last item.. but I'm still noob, I haven't managed to get a proper result.. Thank you!

  • Which SEO practises are likely to be responsible for SO questions appearing so quickly in Google sea

    - by morpheous
Does anyone have some idea as to how come questions posted here on SO are showing up so quickly on Google?. Sometimes questions submitted are appearing as the first 10 entries or so - on the first page within 30 minutes of submitting a question. Pray tell, what sort of magic is being wielded here? Anybody have some ideas, suggestions?. My first thought is that they have info in their sitemap that tells google robots to trawl every N minutes or so - is that whats going on? BTW, I am aware that simply instructing Googlebots to scan your site every N minutes will not work if you dont have quality information (that is constantly being updated on your site). I'd just like to know if there is something else that SO may be doing right (apart from the marvelous content of course)

  • Can't print elements in a DIV tag

    - by Mckenzi
I am using a Drag-able and re-sizeable DIV's in this HTML file. Where the user will place the DIV tag to his desired place in a main parent DIV tag. Now I want to print this main DIV tag, but the problem is that the code which I'm using to PRINT this main DIV is printing in a sequence, like not the way user has arranged the DIV's. Also it doesn't take up the main DIV background IMAGE. here is the code. • UIView subclass draws background despite completely empty drawRect: - why?

    - by Pascal
So, I have a custom UIView subclass which enables drawing of rounded edges. The thing draws perfectly, however the background always fills the whole bounds, despite clipping to a path first. The border also draws above the rectangular background, despite the fact that I draw the border in drawRect: before the background. So I removed the whole content of drawRect:, which is now virtually empty - nevertheless the background gets drawn! Anybody an explanation for this? I set the backgroundColor in Interface Builder. Thanks!

  • Rails: translations for table's column.

    - by Andrew
In rails application I have two models: Food and Drink. Both food and drink have a name, which has to be stored in two languages. How do I better realize translations for theese tables? First solution I realized was to replace name column with name_en and name_ru. Another solution is to encode with YAML hash like { :en => 'eng', :ru => 'rus' } and store yaml as a name. What would you recommend, assuming content is not static? Maybe there's good article?

  • Explanation for expires header

    - by sushil bharwani
I have a joomla application working on Apache. To improve site performace we have written a .htaccess file to root of the application with setting a far future expires header to all the static content. As desired first time the files load in fresh with 200 status code. when again click on the same link many of the files are served directly from cache. I need explanation for two things When i press f5 then a number of files load with 304 status code however i expected them to be coming directly from cache without hitting the server for a status header? When i close the browser and come back to the same page again i see the same thing happening a number of files load with 304 status code although i thought they will load directly from the browser cache? I understand that 304 also servs file from browser cache but i want to avoid the header communication between servers as my static files wont ever change. Also i want to add that my requests are over a https connection does that create any issue.

  • serving files using django - is this a security vulnerability

    - by Tom Tom
I'm using the following code to serve uploaded files from a login secured view in a django app. Do you think that there is a security vulnerability in this code? I'm a bit concerned about that the user could place arbitrary strings in the url after the upload/ and this is directly mapped to the local filesystem. Actually I don't think that it is a vulnerability issue, since the access to the filesystem is restricted to the files in the folder defined with the UPLOAD_LOCATION setting. UPLOAD_LOCATION = is set to a not publicly available folder on the webserver url(r'^upload/(?P<file_url>[/,.,\s,_,\-,\w]+)', 'aeon_infrastructure.views.serve_upload_files', name='project_detail'), @login_required def serve_upload_files(request, file_url): import os.path import mimetypes mimetypes.init() try: file_path = settings.UPLOAD_LOCATION + '/' + file_url fsock = open(file_path,"r") file_name = os.path.basename(file_path) file_size = os.path.getsize(file_path) print "file size is: " + str(file_size) mime_type_guess = mimetypes.guess_type(file_name) if mime_type_guess is not None: response = HttpResponse(fsock, mimetype=mime_type_guess[0]) response['Content-Disposition'] = 'attachment; filename=' + file_name #response.write(file) except IOError: response = HttpResponseNotFound() return response

  • In LaTeX, how can one add a header/footer in the document class Letter?

    - by Brian M. Hunt
    In LaTeX, how can one create a document using the Letter documentclass, but with customized headers and footers? Typically I would use: \usepackage{fancyhdr} \pagestyle{fancy} \lhead{\footnotesize \parbox{11cm}{Custom left-head-note} } \lfoot{\footnotesize \parbox{11cm}{\textit{#2}}} \rfoot{\footnotesize Page \thepage\ of \pageref{LastPage}} \renewcommand\headheight{24pt} \renewcommand\footrulewidth{0.4pt} However, with \documentclass{letter}, this doesn't work at all. Suggestions are duly appreciated. EDIT: Here is sample code that doesn't work (for any apparent reason): \documentclass[12pt]{letter} \usepackage{fontspec}% font selecting commands \usepackage{xunicode}% unicode character macros \usepackage{xltxtra} % some fixes/extras % page counting, header/footer \usepackage{fancyhdr} \usepackage{lastpage} \pagestyle{fancy} \lhead{\footnotesize \parbox{11cm}{Draft 1} } \lfoot{\footnotesize \parbox{11cm}{\textit{2}}} \cfoot{} \rhead{\footnotesize 3} \rfoot{\footnotesize Page \thepage\ of \pageref{LastPage}} \renewcommand{\headheight}{24pt} \renewcommand{\footrulewidth}{0.4pt} \begin{document} \name{ Joe Laroo } \signature{ Joe Laroo } \begin{letter}{ To-Address } \renewcommand{\today}{ February 16, 2009 } \opening{ Opening } Content of the letter. \closing{ Yours truly, } \end{letter} \end{document}

  • How do I send a PDF in a MemoryStream to the printer in .Net?

    - by Ryan ONeill
I have a PDF created in memory using iTextSharp and contained in a MemoryStream. I now need to translate that MemoryStream PDF into something the printer understands. I've used Report Server in the past to render the pages to the printer format but I cant use it for this project. Is there a native .Net way of doing this? For example, GhostScript would be OK if it was a .Net assembly but I don't want to bundle any non .Net stuff along with my installer. The PrintDocument class in .Net is great for sending content to the printer but I still need to translate it from a PDF stream into GDI at the page level. Any good hints? Thanks in advance Ryan

  • .NET: What is the purpose of the ProhibitDtd property in XmlReaderSettings? Why is DTD a security i

    - by Cheeso
The documentation says: When set to true, the XmlReader throws an XmlException when any DTD content is encountered. Do not enable DTD processing if you are concerned about Denial of Service issues or if you are dealing with untrusted sources. If you have DTD processing enabled, you can use the XmlSecureResolver to restrict the resources that the XmlReader can access. You can also design your application so that the XML processing is memory and time constrained. For example, configure time-out limits in your ASP.NET application. Can someone please explain the issue? Why would a reader application want to prohibit the retrieval of a DTD? Where is the denial-of-service issue, if it is a reading application? What is the "trust" issue that is mentioned? Thanks

Any ideas if I can strip/replace these using PHP when they get displayed out of my mySQL table. Here is the link to the page that spits out the dodgy characters, you can see the 'black diamonds of doom' which are causing the headaches. http://linq.milkbarstudios.com/news_detail.php?id=3 Any suggestions would be greatly accepted!

  • Unit of measurement API in Java?

    - by Carlos P
JSR-275 has been rejected, the Units of Measurement API for Java project is a set of interfaces, but haven't found an open source implementation. On this post: Which jsr-275 units implementation should be used? the project owner mentions the implementation was going to be ready by the end of last year on JScience, but didn't find anything there to convert between weight or length units and when I looked for JScience on https://maven.java.net/, I found it, but the JAR wasn't even in the directory https://maven.java.net/content/repositories/snapshots/org/jscience/jscience/5.0-SNAPSHOT/, so I had to get it from somewhere else. Has this project been left behind? And is there currently an implementation for conversion of Units of measurement in Java and even perhaps a Maven repo?

I would like the scrollbar to be at the page level. (Currently my parent div is set to overflow: auto;) Can you please help me with the CSS for this?

This is widely used but I really cannot google the relevant content out. What view should I use to connect it with the button? AlertView (which seems you cannot add dialogue in), ModalView? Are there relevant info somewhere? Thanks.

  • Replacing links detected in a HTML with other links using JS

    - by Jim
Hi people. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to do this one. Here's the scenario. My e-commerce site has a blog with a lot of content, promoting the products I sell, reviewing them etc. 99% of the posts on the blog link back to the products they are talking about. I'm going to be changing the URL where my ecommerce system is located. Therefore my blog is going to end up sending people to a lot of 404 pages. The idea I've had is to be able inclue a JS file which will on load, scan the document for existing links then, if found, swap them out with ones which are now correct. I hope this make sense. Cheers, Jim

  • How to make a link open in tabbed or new window without target attribute?

    - by Alan McCloud
In my application an external website places link in my web page and the link does not have target=_blank. More specifically its iframe in my webpage whose src is another domain which I have no control. The content in this iframe contains links that opens in the same window wiping off my ajax driven web page and taking the user to the other domain. Is there a way to intercept this ( via javascript? ) and make the link open in another window or browser tab? It would be even much better if the link opens within the same iframe on my webpage. Is this possible? Is target="_self" makes the link open in the same iframe?
