• Installing Epic (Eclipse Plugin) in Pulse Explorer

  I'm trying to install EPIC using the Pulse Explorer for Eclipse (as I'm rather fond of sharing profiles :). When I go to install the plugin under my account, I get asked for a login into http://e-p-i-c.sf.net. However, the Epic's team documentation doesn't mention anything about a login. Here's what I've done: Gone into Pulse and created a new profile based on Eclipse Classic. Navigated to Software, added the EPIC software site to list of public sites, and chosen to install it. Added Pulse item to profile. Run the installer. The error shows up while it's all downloading/installing. Login boxes start to appear for epic related components, and I don't have credentials to put in so all I can do is hit cancel. If I hit cancel, the process fails at the end with the generic error message: "an unexpected error occurred preparing to install and/or launch the selected profile". Bundles that are failing to download are: org.epic.debug org.epic.doc org.epic.lib org.epic.perleditor org.epic.regxp org.epic.source The component that's exploding is called: org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.repository.Credentials$LoginCancelledException I've had the same effect on Pulse 0.5.x and 0.6.x. No clue where to go from here. Might contact the EPIC and Pulse teams and ask them, but thought that I'd get a better response from here. I'm somewhat sure I'm doing something wrong.

• Export Multiple Crystal Reports ASP.NET

  Hey all, I want to export 2 different reports when I click an Export button. The problem is the routine only fires once and I only get one report to print out. Am I doing something wrong? I think it has something to do with the HTTPResponse, but I'm not sure.   I want to subclass UITextView, and send a new message to the delegate. So, I want to extend the delegate protocol, What's the correct way to do this? I know I can just pass id's around and get by, but My goal is to make sure that the compiler checks that any delegate supplied to MySubClass conforms to MySubClassDelegate protocol. • Why does my Workflow Service (4.0) variable go null in a DoWhile Activity?

  I have a WF service that I'm trying to setup receive activities to "Subscribe" and "Unsubscribe". I'm using This WF Durable Duplex Tutorial as a basis because my service performs callbacks to clients. Basically, think of it as a chat service. I can make client calls to the two receive activities just fine. What happens is the callback address of the client is passed in to Subscribe() on the service. The address is stored as a variable in the WF service and everything looks like it would work as to be expected. When a client calls Unsubscribe(), my watch I have set on the address var during debugging shows it as null. So what gives? Here's the basic setup of my WF service layout... Everything is enveloped in a DoWhile activity. Inside of that is a Pick activity and two Pick branches. The first branch is for subscribing activities. It has a receive-sendreply activity that assigns the string passed by the client to the WF address var. The second branch handles unsubscribing. The trigger is the Request activity and the client address is again passed in. From there it goes into a sequence, starting with an If. It checks to see if the unsubscribeAddress equals the address already subscribed. If it does, then it sets the address to String.Empty and sends a success message back to the client. Why would a variable that's scoped to the enveloping DoWhile activity be implicitly assigned to null? I'm trying to get this to work so I can implement multiple client subscribers from there and work on triggers that invoke callbacks to multiple clients. CONCAT EDIT: I set a breakpoint at the DoWhile level and my var is null once Unsubscribe() is called. When Subscribe() is invoked, the watch shows a value in the var all the way through. Until I Unsubscribe() with a client. Should I be using a While Activity instead?

  In my application when user logs out the browser is closed. And on browser close I am throwing an alert.   I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to linq and I'm working on a site that parses a json feed using json.net. The problem that I'm having is that I need to be able to pull multiple fields from the json feed and use them for a foreach block. The documentation for json.net only shows how to pull just one field. I've done a few variations after checking out the linq documentation, but I've not found anything that works best. • Hibernate fails with NullPointerException in EntityTuplizerFactory.constructTuplizer? Why?

  I have a problem when I try to instantiate Hibernate and connect with a MySQL database (see error message below). Curiously enough the connection works fine using the exact same hibernate.cfg.xml file when running Junit tests but it refuses to work when run from Tomcat... I am starting to run out of ideas. Any clues or tip where to look?   I'm writing a web crawler for a specific site. The application is a VB.Net Windows Forms application that is not using multiple threads - each web request is consecutive. However, after ten successful page retrievals every successive request times out. It seems strange that it always happens after ten consecutive requests. Notes: In the constructor for the class in which this method resides I have the following: ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit = 100 If I set KeepAlive to true, the timeouts begin after five requests. All the requests are for pages in the same domain. EDIT I added a delay between each web request of between two and seven seconds so that I do not appear to be "hammering" the site or attempting a DOS attack. However, the problem still occurs.

The error message doesn't include any information about what directory it's in or anything. It's kind of infuriating! Is it possible to make the output of javaw more verbose? Is it possible to get around this class-path size bug?

• Investigating the root cause behind SharePoint's "request not found in the TrackedRequests"

  We have a long standing issue in our bug tracking system about the dreaded "ERROR: request not found in the TrackedRequests. We might be creating and closing webs on different threads." message in SharePoint's trace log. As we develop Workflow software for the SharePoint market, we look into this issue from time to time to make sure it is not caused by our products. I have personally come to the conclusion that this is a problem in SharePoint, but perhaps someone else can prove me wrong. Here is what I know: According to the hundreds of search results returned by Google on this topic, this issue appears to be mainly related to SharePoint Workflows, both SharePoint Designer and Visual Studio based workflows. Assuming ULS logging is set to Monitorable, the easiest way to reproduce this problem is to create a new SharePoint Designer Workflow, attach it to a document library, set it to auto start on add/update, don't add any actions, save the workflow and upload a file to the document library. The error is only visible in the SharePoint trace log, it does not appear to impact the execution of the workflow at hand. I have verified that the problem occurs on 32 bit as well as 64 bit systems, Win2K3 and 2K8, WSS and MOSS with SharePoint versions up to the December 2009 Cumulative Update (6524). The problem does not occur when a workflow is started manually. There are dozens of related posts on MSDN Forums, hundreds on Google, one on StackOverflow and none on SharePoint Overflow. There appears to be no answer. Does anyone have any idea about what is going on, what is causing this and if we should worry or file this under 'Red Herrings'.

  As a Java/Eclipse noob coming from a Visual Studio .NET background, I'm trying to understand how to set up my run/debug environment in the Eclipse IDE so I can start stepping through code. I have built my application with separate src and bin hierarchies for each library project, and each project has its own jar. For example, in a Windows environment, I have something like: c:\myapp\myapp_main\src\com\mycorp\myapp\main ...and a parallel "bin" tree like this: c:\myapp\myapp_main\bin\com\mycorp\myapp\main Other supporting projects are, similarly: **c:\myapp\myapp_util\src\com\mycorp\myapp\uti**l (and a parallel "bin" tree.) ... etc. So, I end up with, e.g., myapp_util.jar in the ...\myapp_util\bin... path and then add that as an external archive to my myapp_main project. I also use utilities like gluegen-rt.jar, which I add ad external dependencies to the projects requiring them. I have been able to run outside of the Eclipse environment, by copying all my project jars, gluegen-rt DLL, etc., into a "lib" subfolder of some directory and executing something like: java -Djava.library.path=lib -DfullScreen=false -cp lib/gluegen-rt.jar;lib/myapp_main.jar;lib/myapp_util.jar; com.mycorp.myapp.Main When I first pressed F11 to debug, however, I got a message about something like /com/sun/../glugen... not being found by the class loader. So, to debug, or even just run, in Ecplipse, I tried setting up my VM arguments in the Galileo Debug - (Run/Debug) Configurations to be the command line above, beginning at "-Djava.libary.path...". I've put a lib subdirectory - just like the above with all jars and the native gluegen DLL - in various places, such as beneath the folder that my main jar is built in and as a subfolder of my Ecplipse starting workspace folder, but now Eclipse can't find the main class: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com.mycorp.myapp.Main Although the Classpath says that it is using the "default classpath", whatever that is. Bottom line, how do I assemble the constituent files of a multi-project application so that I can run or debug in Ecplipse?

• Graceful termination of NSApplication with Core Data and Grand Central Dispatch (GCD)

  I have an Cocoa Application (Mac OS X SDK 10.7) that is performing some processes via Grand Central Dispatch (GCD). These processes are manipulating some Core Data NSManagedObjects (non-document-based) in a manner that I believe is thread safe (creating a new managedObjectContext for use in this thread). The problem I have is when the user tries to quit the application while the dispatch queue is still running. The NSApplication delegate is being called before actually quitting. - (NSApplicationTerminateReply)applicationShouldTerminate:(NSApplication *)sender I get an error "Could not merge changes." Which is somewhat expected since there are still operations being performed through the different managedObjectContext. I am then presented with the NSAlert from the template that is generated with a core data application. In the Threading Programming Guide there is a section called "Be Aware of Thread Behaviors at Quit Time" which alludes to using replyToApplicationShouldTerminate: method. I'm having a little trouble implementing this. What I would like is for my application to complete processing the queued items and then terminate without presenting an error message to the user. It would also be helpful to update the view or use a sheet to let the user know that the app is performing some action and will terminate when the action is complete. Where and how would I implement this behavior?

• What vertex shader code should be used for a pixel shader used for simple 2D SpriteBatch drawing in XNA?

  Preface First of all, why is a vertex shader required for a SilverlightEffect (.slfx file) in Silverlight 5? I'm trying to port a simple 2D XNA game to Silverlight 5 RC, and I would like to use a basic pixel shader. This shader works great in XNA for Windows and Xbox, but I can't get it to compile with Silverlight as a SilverlightEffect. The MS blog for the Silverlight Toolkit says that "there is no difference between .slfx and .fx", but apparently this isn't quite true -- or at least SpriteBatch is working some magic for us in "regular XNA", and it isn't in "Silverlight XNA". If I try to directly copy my pixel shader file into a Silverlight project (and change it to the supported "Effect - Silverlight" importer/processor), when I try to compile I see the following error message: Invalid effect file. Unable to find vertex shader in pass "P0" Indeed, there isn't a vertex shader in my pixel shader file. I haven't needed one with my other 2D XNA apps since I'm just doing basic SpriteBatch drawing. I tried adding a vertex shader to my shader file, using Remi Gillig's comment on this Shawn Hargreaves blog post for guidance, but it doesn't quite work. The shader file successfully compiles, and I see some semblance of my game on screen, but it's tiny, twisted, repeated, and all jumbled up. So clearly something's not quite right. The Real Question So that brings me to my real question: Since a vertex shader is required, is there a basic vertex shader function that works for simple 2D SpriteBatch drawing? And if the vertex shader requires world/view/project matricies as parameters, what values am I supposed to use for a 2D game? Can any shader pros help? Thanks!

• iPhone programming - problem with CoreFoundation forking

  Hello all, I've been working on an iPhone for several months. It's a 2d shooting game akin to the old Smash TV type games. I'm doing everything alone and it has come out well so far, but now I am getting unpredictable crashes which seem to be related to CoreFoundation forking and not exec()ing, as the message __THE_PROCESS_HAS_FORKED_AND_YOU_CANNOT_USE_THIS_COREFOUNDATION_FUNCTIONA LITY___YOU_MUST_EXEC__ always shows up somewhere in the debugger. Usually it shows up around a CFRunLoopRunSpecific and is related to either a timer firing or _InitializeTouchTapCount. I cannot figure out exactly what is causing the fork to occur. My main game loop is running on a timer, first updating all the logic and then drawing everything with openGL. There is nothing highly complex or unusual. I understand you cannot make CF calls on the childside of a fork, or access shared memory and things like that. I am not explicitly trying to fork anything. My question is: can anyone tell me what type of activity might cause CoreFoundation to randomly fork like this? I'd really like to finish this game and I don't know how to solve this problem.   I am trying to do a seemingly simple thing, but having trouble accomplishing it. I am trying to automate the posting on my Facebook wall. Basically I have a ASP.NET MVC website that I post updates on, and I want to automatically submit the post to my wall. I see a lot of stuff on FB Connect and getting data, I just want to post. Thanks for any help or guidance. UPDATE: Just trying to resurrect, and be a little more clear in my description as I am not getting anywhere. I have a page that I want with a text box and a button. When I submit the form I want the message to post to my Facebook wall. I thought it was Facebook Connect, but I am getting no where as to how to automatically authenticate myself and post to my wall. • Rails 2.3.11 Server Crashing After 4 Requests

  I have a Rails 2.3.11 application running on my local Windows machine using InstantRails. I cd to my application directory, run ruby script/server to start the server running, and point my browser to localhost:3000. I get the page I expect, and am able to click a few links to other pages (all of them are static). The problem starts when I load the 4th page or so. Please contact the application's support team for more information. I've uninstalled this gem and reinstalled it, which didn't help. It doesn't seem to be the gem though, because the segmentation fault sometimes occurs in C:/rails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mongrel-1.1.2-x86-mswin32/lib/mongrel.rb:114 or C:/rails/ruby/lib/ruby/1.8/benchmark.rb:306 Versions: >ruby -v ruby 1.8.7 (2012-02-08 patchlevel 358) [i386-mingw32] >rails -v Rails 2.3.11 I'd like to get this fixed so while I'm developing I don't have to keep restarting my server. • There is no attachment in the sent mail by iPhone

  I'm trying to send a recorded sound file as attachment with MFMailComposeViewController. The sound file is OK. The picker shows the correct file name, shows the audio file icon as attachment, sends the mail, but there is no attachment in the result. I attached below the source of the sent mail. There is a "text/plain" content type part instead of "Content-Disposition: attachment;" as expected. This is my code code to define the path and attach the audio file. • Mixed Mode C++ DLL function call failure when app launched from network share. Called from unmanage

  Mixed-mode DLL called from native C application fails to load: An unhandled exception of type 'System.IO.FileLoadException' occurred in Unknown Module. Additional information: Could not load file or assembly 'XXSharePoint, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=e0fbc95fd73fff47' or one of its dependencies. Failed to grant minimum permission requests. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131417) My environment is: Native C application calling a mixed mode C++ DLL, which then loads a C# DLL.. This works correctly when loaded from a local drive, but when launched from a network drive, it fails with the above messages. The call to LoadLibrary succeeds, as does the GetProcAddress. The load error happens when I call the function. I have digitally signed the C application, and I've performed "strong name" signing on the 2 DLLs. The PublickKeyToken in the message above does match the named DLL. I have also issued the CASPOLcommands on my client to grant FullTrust to that strong name keytoken. When that failed to work, I tried the CASPOL command to grant FullTrust to the URL of the network drive (including path to my application's directory); no change in results. I tried removing all dependencies, so that there was just the initial mixed-mode DLL... I replaced the bodies of all the functions with just a return of a "success" integer value. Results unchanged. Only when I changed it from Mixed Mode to Win32, and changed the Configuration Properties General Common Language Runtime Support from "Common Language Runtime Support" to "No Common Language Runtime Support" did calling the DLL produce the expected result (just returned the "success" integer return value).
